    Hehehe....stepping 5 is taking off.

The chip I have is only FSB limited. I think I could get to 4.6-4.8Ghz AT LEAST with my single stage cooling if the MCH could run that high. Since 440 is about as high as the FSB can go stable with stock voltage maxed out, that's as high as the CPU will go with the 10x multi.

4GHz on air with the Conroe will continue to be the norm....we are going to see some great overclocks when these appear.

Chips like 6600 and 6700 (not even mentioning lower-end ones) might be getting FSB-limited even on air on current boards.

A1 = step 1 (shows as "A4" on the IHS next to the ES)
B0 = step 4 (some of these, E6400, E6600 also sometimes show as "A4" on the IHS)
B1 = step 5 (may be retail version, early version of CPU-Z 1.34.2 show this as "C1" which has been changed)
B2 = step 6 (speculated to poss. exist as retail)

    Notes:
    step 2 - 3 were internal only
"A4" on the core has nothing to do with actual core stepping

But If I remember right, MSI bios didn't have this option yet.

dsable core doesn't need to use bios to do so

Geez. This chip is just on it's knees for LN2!

How many boards have you tested this chip on, cooaler? Is the MSI a better board than the P5W DH or Infinity?

    Outstanding work again.
That Revision 6 rumor is interesting. Has anyone actually seen Rev6?

I just also received a Stepping 5 E6700 and I'm hoping for 4ghz on air with a Zalman 9500. I will post results within the next few days. I sure hope these Stepping 5's are similar if not the same as the initial retail release.
