    Hi ReelMonza,

I already know that there are mainboards/BIOS files which have troubles with MODBIN6 2.01.01.

It seems to be that there are newer MODBIN6 versions, but because DFI's bad technical support I was not able to get a newer release of MODBIN6.

    Hi Borg Number One,

Glad to see you helping out so many folks here Maybe you can help me too.

I have a Foxconn NF4XK8MC(nforce4 4x) mobo with phoenix- awardbios 6.00PG - i tried modbin6 20101 - but frankly i am not sure what i can hide or unhide as my mobo is a budget mobo.

Also one strange thing i noticed in this demo image http://www.dstyles.de/bios/images/bo...abit-ic-7g.gif you posted is, i have identical setup except i dont have the "SoftMenu Setup" to adjust my Vcore & Vdimm without which my o/c is handicapped. So any help from you is appreciated, tell me if you need more info.

The bios file can be found here http://www.foxconnchannel.com/biosbase/NF4K8MC.zip. Thanks, looking forward for your reply.

    Changing BIOS logos

Inside the NF4XK8MC BIOS, following BIOS logos can be removed or exchanged with your own photo or firm/clan logo.

    Expand your BIOS features

If you are interested in using ROMOS or ATASX, then I can also add them to your BIOS.
ROMOS is an emergency Operating system with multilanguage file manager and hard disk/floppy access.
ATASX makes it possible to manage password protected hard disks and to protect your hard disks with a password.
(Using: ATA Security Mode Feature Set)

Here you can get more details

Thanks for the quick reply Borg, yes i would like you to modify the bios(unhide all the settings & remove the logos) also i would love to have the ROMOS to the bios if it does not interfere with normal functioning of bios & if i dont have problems flashing back the bios integrated with ROMOS.

So please do modify the Bios - thanks for all the help - keep up the great work mate.

    __________
PS : So i assume i would not have access to vdimm or vcore.

    Hi dipdude,

    1.)
I translated the file manager inside ROMOS to English, recompiled it and added ROMOS to the NF4XK8MC BIOS.

    2.)
    The fullscreen logo was removed.

    3.)
No... there are/were no further VDIM related features to unhide.

    4.)
Now, just your eMail address (via PM) is required to send your personal BIOS file to you.

    BNO,

There are about 4-5 of us over at OCF who would like your help. We are using the ASUS P4C800-E Dlx, bios 1024 beta, found here
http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...X/1024-001.zip with a CT-479 Adaptor and a Dothan chip. We are trying to figure out if it is possible to change the FSBRAM ratio to 3:4 or 4:5, since our Dothans are starved for memory bandwidth at 1:1 . Please help us.

    Many thanks.

    Hi Maviryk,

the ASUS P4C800-E Dlx BIOS 1024 beta does not contain any further menus/options which could be unhide.

Well, in the manual and while simulation I could see that the ASUS P4C800 BIOS already has many DRAM and CPU related settings.

    PS:
    ...it has a nice logo.

    Thanks for looking BNO.

That is quite unfortunate. It seems that we're only able to run the ram faster than the CPU when the FSB is below 200MHz then. At 200MHz and above we're stuck with a 1:1 divider.

I've heard of people flashing a P4P bios into the P4C (to get the better divider), but that will disable the onboard RAID since the P4P doesn't have them, which would not be good for me because I am running Raid0.

    I appreciate your quick response.

Edit: Yes it does have a nice logo, but unfortunately I tweak my options so much I leave it disabled so that I see the boot screen.

If this should really work, then I can add or bring back the (SATA/IDA)RAID-Controller-BIOS from the P4C BIOS to the P4P BIOS.

Do you think it is possible to bring back the PAT also? The P4C800 has the I865 chipset instead of the I875chipset. Anyhow, if you can make the changes I have a person with a bios flasher to test it out to see if it works correctly, if not he can physically flash it back.

Actually, looks like the P4P800-E Deluxe has a RAID controller, not sure if it is the same chip or not. Might be safer to replace it with the P4C800 version. P4P800-E Deluxe BIOS Version 1008 can be found at http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...X/P4P8E008.zip

Edit: We found a link that might help you BNO, I can't make heads or tails of it. Buy maybe it will help you.

    Hi.

    The word: "this"
from the phrase: "If this should really work..." was related to your idea:

    "flashing a P4P bios into the P4C"

So, if you can successfully flash the P4P BIOS file into the P4C FLASHROM and if the Mainbaord still boots, then I can bring back the RAID contoller BIOS from the original P4C BIOS file and put it into the P4P BIOS file.

BNO, the P4P800 bios WILL work in the P4C800. Mainboard will boot just fine as long as it is flashed properly including bootlock.

Mainly I'm concerned about the RAID drivers and PAT support.

    Hi Maviryk,

    1.)
Referring to the PAT support, maybe the already mentioned method could work for you too:
    http://www.bleedinedge.com/guides/p4...33_mod_01.html

    2.)
Well, which (detailed) kind of modifications have been done with the BIOS file at all:
    http://www.bleedinedge.com/guides/p4...33_mod_02.html
    -->P4PJEB.rom

What was modified in "Jeb's Upclock BIOS" at all?

What is/was the original BIOS revision/version referring to "Jeb's Upclock BIOS" ?

    3.)
Referring to the "RAID drivers support" problem, both BIOS files
(P4C800 and P4P800) contain the same RAID Controller BIOS files/BIOS modules.
Just the network BOOTROM modules are differnt.

Hmm.. interesting. I don't know which version or what was modified in "Jeb's Upclock Bios". When I get home today I'll try the P4P800 EDLX BIOS and see what happens. Thanks.

For some reason I thought it was more complicated than flashing the P4C with a P4P bios.

could you take a look at this older bios?

    http://216.158.218.35/edoc/bios_uploads/6728v3A.zip

they took away memory voltages > 3v after introducing prescott support...i'm wondering if they're unlockable.

    thanks.

hey maviryk, have you had any success with the bios flash of your board?

    i'm also using a p4c800-e deluxe rev 2, 1023 bios w/ 3.0C & 4x512mb ocz 4400 gold modules (2.5-4-4-8)...my 100% prime95/memtest86 stable clock is 222MHz FSB and i'm also using the intel raid-0 (not the promise one)

sorry in advance for bombarding you with questions: did you face any issues with the raid after the flash? is PAT working at speeds > 200FSB? did you need to set the clock to any specific speed (ie: 201FSB) to flash?

lastly...i can't find any bios savior/second bios chip in my current location...it is my understanding that this mod is more complicated than a bios upgrade because there is no guarantee that the p4p bios will work on any given p4c800-e deluxe. would that be an accurate assessment? i'm still on the fence about trying the mod, but i would like to utilize the full potential of my RAMs so any help would be much appreciated.

    cheers,

Could Use some help with a laptop...

    Borg Number One--

I'd wanted to try doing this myself, but I can't seem to find a link for your toolkit on your site (maybe I'm blind...). Anyway, you might be able to help with this a lot faster and more accurately than I could do it.

I have an IBM A20m notebook (model 2628-4UU) that I want to upgrade the CPU in. From what I've read on the IBM site, the A20m and A21p seem to share the same basic mobo, but the A20p could have up to a 1 GHz PIII CPU. The latest BIOS for the A20m has CPU microcode for a 0686 CPU (900 MHz) but not the code for an 068A (1 GHz). I wanted to add the 1 GHz code to my BIOS.

Here's a link for the latest A20m BIOS (only available on a utility to make a bootable 'flash' floppy):
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...s/spsdiw59.exe

Here's a link for the latest A21p BIOS with the 068A microcode (same deal as above, 'flash' floppy):
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...s/spsdky38.exe

(Note: The link for the "BIOS non-diskette" on each page seems to link to an executable file that wants to flash within Windows and doesn't produce separate BIOS files to work with.)

If this helps, I opened the A20m BIOS file with UltraEdit32 and found a string that identifies the BIOS as by Phoenix, but copyright for IBM.

Can you assist me with this problem, BNO? I'd really appreciate it!

    Hi harbinger.

    You are not blind .
The BNOBTC v5 archive and previous BNOBTC sites are currently not available.

    Why?
    1.)
I am currently re-building my homepage.

    2.)
The number of BNOBTC v5 downloads has been increasing more and more.
This shows me that the BNOBTC and my BIOS modification services are really famous.

But all the time the persons (who used my free service and downloaded the BNOBTC) forgot that:
    + there are traffic costs
+ my motivations to provide free BIOS related service decreased more and more, because there never really were enough funds to finance the BNOBTC and BIOS modifications.
(Time is indeed money. Motivation is indeed money too.)

So, I temporary stopped the BNOBTC v5 download and I am currently really thinking about, if I should publish BNOBTC v6 at all.

All the persons, who downloaded the BNOBTC and/or got BIOS related technical support from me,
became more than lucky/happy and satisfied.

So, thousands of Windows and Linux users wrote replies, such as:

+ "Borg Number One, thank you very much for your support!!!! The motherboard firm(s) XXXXX could learn a lesson from you and your great BIOS related technical support."

+ "Hi Borg Number One, with your BIOS related support, I have no more problems with my mainboard anymore. Thanks."

+ "Hi Borg No. One, with the help of your modified BIOS, I will not be annoyed by a stupid BIOS splashlogo anymore and am able to see the P.O.S.T. screen too."

+ "Dear Borg, thank you for solving the CPU microcode error message while boot, thank you for unhide all the previously hidden BIOS Setup Menus and thank you for updating RAID controller ROM."

+ "Dear BNO, I am a linux user and using the DOS/Windows BIOS modification utilities is a little bit difficult. Many of them won't work with common DOS/Windows emulators.
Well, thank you very much for adding EtherBoot to my clients with AMI/Award/Phoenix BIOS.
    "

    + etc...

But nearly nobody thought about making a donation.

Well, I like to provide BIOS related support and to help other users in hardware forums, and I want not to provide / I never wanted to provide this BIOS related technical service in a commercial way.

If I would do a commercial BIOS related support, then I would not be better than many current mainboard companies and OEM PC firms, which provide bad BIOS related technical support.

    So, the only solution for:
+ keeping the BNOBTC homepage and BNOBTC archive available
+ further providing BIOS related technical support
+ increase the motivation to re-publish the BNOBTC
+ beginning with BIOS related experiments and research again
    + providing real-time desktop service
(for your problem(s) which may be hardly to describe, you can directly show me your computer related problem on your desktop or my desktop)
    + reducing traffic costs
...was to provide a possibility for a voluntary donation.

Now, everyone who understands the sense of the described facts, can make a voluntary donation here:

I can understand your predicament. Making such valuable services (and your time) available in any tech-related area can quickly expand to take up your entire life. That's why I don't fix other people's computers anymore.

From an end-user's standpoint who's just getting into this, however, it's frustrating. Just trying to find the tools alone has taken up a lot of my time over the past week--reading threads, doing research, following a LOT of dead/outdated links, and trying to do it yourself without bugging anyone. Then when you find what seems to be a downloadable solution to your needs, you find the site's been pulled because too many people before you pumped the well dry and didn't leave anything for anyone else. It's been my unfortunate experience with 'shareware' authors that, once you give, updates never come anymore or the author decides to pack it in and you're stuck. That's why I stopped buying shareware a long time ago.

I do hope that others who've taken your time and expertise in the past will chip in something to help compensate you. For now, I'll have to content myself with trying to find a downloadable copy of the last version of BNOBTC...if not, I guess I'll give up the project or settle for a boost to 900 MHz from 600 and be done with it.

    Thanks for your reply.
