did this ever happen before with ES cpus is the question? if not then its obviously some kind of a payoff. imo they should be allowed and as a pro member ill be emailing them asking why, im not bitter to not be able to have a merom/conroe, im glad to see some scores to know what im buying.

Hahaha, those saying "Conroe ain't on the store shelves, not anyone can buy it, it's not fair to have the scores up" should just accept disqualifying all AM2 FX-62 and Pentium D XE because hey, not everyone can buy it, in fact, that's why they are reserved only for those who have the moolah, contacts, or the powers to acquire.

Hey look, not anyone even have Vapo Chill, more so for those LN2, and dang, not even everyone can spend all the bills in the electricity for benching. Maybe, their scores should be disqualified as well.

Hey, not everyone can get SLI or Crossfire, let's disqualify them as well.

Ooops, not everyone is getting AOpen YDG, disqualify the score!

Dang, Asus P4GD1 is tough to acquire, not everyone can get them, disqualify the score!

    That's not retail

We never had this problem before because before people didn't get stuff months before launch. When A64 launched everyone was getting it on the same week, all retail. They found the mods and tested all the boards. It was some real competition.

Yes theres no way for the average user to compete now because all the limits have been set, and mods figured out, before the users even have a chance to play with the hardware.

they should keep the scores up, pointless to take them down really, 99.99999999999999999999999% should have already noticed conroe taking almost every single record there is.

the only reason i possibly see to take them down, is if it had something to do with an intel NDA or something, that they didn't want results getting out.

this doesn't do anything for current record holders anyways, the guys on top know whats coming, and those records have already been beaten.

none of them are still benching with the old hardware, most have already found a conroe/merom/yonah to bench with.

    really stupid on FM's part

edit: maybe possible to keep the hardware on the orb, but have a checkbox for current and next-gen in search and compare or something,

I must say...I spend ALOT of cash trying to break into the top 20...and every time i get close, new benches appear with un-released hardware, that i can't get, because I'm Joe Public. Take away some of the conroe scores, and duplicate listings with the same hardware, and i might make page #1 for my vidcards. But with users posting scores with hardware the public can't get, makes the top 20...well...not public. AFAIK, Futuremark caters not only to OEM's and such, but to the public. Only fair the public has a chance to get thier name up there.

I come to this site specifically to see the scores posted by Fugger et al, but it sure pisses me off to see them make my personal goals all that much more unattainable...and every time, just when i am getting close.

Find me a Conroe in Canada, and i'd stop complaining, but I'm first in line to congratulate futuremark for what they did.

However, they way this went down was wrong. A simple email letting these affected users know what is going on, and maybe a listing for "Top 20" for unreleased hardware might be a good idea. As mentioned previously, those scores cause ALOT of hits.

The only way this would be good is a seperate ORB for user that have access to non-public hardware, IMHO. Or are you guys gonna pay ALL of Futuremark's bills?

ex2cib please correct me if I am wrong but Conroe/Merom only dominates in 05 and 01 which Isn't even HoF anymore and AMD rules 06, 03. Please show me otherwise if I am wrong.

I think all XS users are aware of that, however, spamming the AMD section with it would be fun

Haha, I bet 06 will be pwned by conroe as well
    03 is nvidia land, even a 7900GT beats a x1900XTX, so 03 is basicly a joke-

That may be the case but if conroe is goona knock the crap out of everything I want to see proof and currently in 3dmark it is a close race, now pi is another story all together.

Conroe has 4x the cache of AMD. That's why the pi time is insane.

really stupid for them to take them off the orb....even if they aren't released yet whats the point of taking them off?...why because no one can buy it ? oo boo freaking hoo go cry about it just cause people like fugger have the access to them before the general public doesn't mean he shouldn't be able to publish his scores on the orb...o well w/e atleast we know who has the REAL records for 3Dmark...

and btw im more so an AMD fan than intel so dont even start about being an intel fanboy cause im definitely not

Check out Coolaler's work on a Merom and GTXSLI, 47k in 03 on air...Core 2 will take every FM world record. Coolaler has a Conroe that's also nearly 50% faster than his Merom that he used in those tests....so just wait

IDK why FM took them down, but it's pointless other than maybe to pad their pockets for a short run....or something. There must be some reason we're missing other than Conroe's hard to get. Like someone else said, take down the P4GD1 runs as well then....and the LN2, heck, even the VapoChill runs. Part of those WRs was GETTING the hardware

The fact is, these chips have not been released officially by Intel. They are in very short supply and they have no place on the ORB, period.

    I made a thread here --->

    http://www.futuremark.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5341

    but no mod/admin answered yet...
When Mercedes brought their C111 to Talledega years ago and blew away the closed course record did it count? Yes..
That was a "factory" car and a "one of" that no one could buy and was never sold.
Records are records and that is a fact so get over it.

Must be the distibutors of Intel and AMD product that is sitting on the shelves losing value by the minute while the potential purchasers of the highline AMD and Intel cpus wait anxiously for Conroe... too late cat's out of the bag.

ps... I hope that you don't get stuck with any of those high $$$ cpus that are depreciating by the second.

good, the scores should have been taken down.

the hardware is unreleased and some(not all) of the posters are under NDA, so why should FM risk their ass for some few people with unreleased hardware?

they are obviously NOT the majority, and FM doesnt need to warn anyone before they take down scores. its all in the user agreement.

EDIT: why are some well known, long time members turning this into an intel vs amd thing? fact is FM doesnt want unreleased hardware scores on its site, so they took them down. the people who had their scores taken down wont have much effect with their complaining since they are such minority.
