I can confirm what hicookie is saying...
And I hope all the non-believers now see I was giving it to them straight when I said that Conroe will do 4.0Ghz on air.
That XE is 2.93/1066 or 4GHz on air ?Originally Posted by freecableguy
personally, i dont think intel should hold back anything. release the power and move on to bigger things as fast as they can.
if we are seeing 4ghz air oc's with the xe version, there is no reason to play it slow. dont give the competition an oppertunity to answer anything.
keep the prices lower and the performance higher

Think again... no joke.. i hope its a joke.
If u think rather this way:
Conroe allready smashes everything, intel still wants to sell 6xx 8xx and 9xx cpu's, now everybody is waiting on conroe. they still want to sell them.

But if they stick to 6xx and 9xx, then people will get AMD, since they don'T hold up...Originally Posted by Waus-mod
Intel have bought enough time with his Netburst.. Time to release something better asap (and Conroe is the answer to regain the market they lost). And since Intel want to make a new "architecture" every 2 years, they better not wait to long..
They have more money to do with releasing Conroe than waiting and selling a product that most of enthusiast user don't want. Their marketing is already done for Conroe, and there is a big hype already. There will be a shortage as soon as they release it (sadly)

Well, Intel should have thought of that before they developed their Monster Conroe, now shouldn't they've?Originally Posted by Waus-mod
I dont think thats true. The change over to Core architecture is supposed to be incremental, so there will be plenty of 6xx 8xx 9xx still for sale through dell, hp, etc while conroe is out.Originally Posted by Waus-mod

Now I just cant wait to see that 4Ghz on air and what it can do on phase.
I think im gona go cry on my pillow.
Plz get some Game Benchies ready till 5th.
5th July I dare you to post it now or are you hehe
If the retail product were locked this would be a very good thing, we get the exact same binned product with a higher multiplier = higher speed possible.
For those of us with ES plans, this wont make any difference.

Not on regular ES chips, XE may be different.

there are better ways to empty your stock... why do you think Intel announced 915 and 925? I don't know now if I will go for Conroe right at release or buy a very cheap Dual Core Presler. further Conroe-Steppings might be higher to clock and get cheaper. but well... if Conroe hits the market as hard as I believe Intel might increase prices as well (more demand, higher prices)Originally Posted by Waus-mod
but: I still wonder why Intel sells the Conroes that cheap?! in times of shareholders value I thought Intel will have prices like AMD has got to get as much money as the can get. one reason might be that Intel wants to increase their market % at all costs.
I don't think Conroe will be delayed, but maybe they will only chip 'em in small dosages to increase sales on 8xx and 9xx (buy a Conroe rdy Mobo and a Presler and wait till Conroe will drop in price).
Notice any grammar or spelling mistakes? Feel free to correct me! Thanks

We'll just have to wait and see...
In my opinion they shouldn;t be out early in juky though.
