Ya, hoping conroe compatible boards hit soon. Dont know how much longer I can wait before I am forced to go with AMD.

Would love to get a conroe usable board and a D 930 cpu for now, then upgrade to a Conroe CPU when prices drop. But if boards dont hit the street by June ......

Its gonna be an AMD X2 3800

Btw heard the BadAxe board takes a powersupply that has 2 4pin motherboard connecters. Is that true?

yes, it uses a 8-pin EPS 12v connector - but it also ships with a 4-8 pin adapter if you don't have a EPS-compliant power supply already

nothing... due to the fact that asus is basically ready to release the new revision of the P5WD2-E & P5WDG2-WS boards that support conroe, I'm about to cancel this whole plan

I started this because at the time, I heard all positives, and that the channel would recieve them soon... but the channel has bugged intel over and over again, and the 304's still aren't available for us, even though intel said they already began shipping these boards

if these boards become available and Asus won't be releasing the new revisions for about a month after it, then I will start this back up if there's still interest

Alright, I was really looking forward to having one of these boards by now, but I guess I can wait some more. Thanks for making an effort, I know it wasn't your fault.

They have twenty Rev 304 Intel D975XBX "Bad Axe" boards sitting at Fry's?

I'd still be up for a group buy of whatever Conroe board if it can be sooner than general availability. Otherwise, once they come available, what difference?

A Conroe (XE?) group buy, on the other hand...

yeah, they had about that many. and i look to see if they were 304s. i will go by there today to double check and get some proof and rely it. but the thing is they wanted like 259 or 279 for them. i dont know the average of the board, but that is what they were charging.

When and if this ever comes up, I am still interested in a group buy of a motherboard or a conroe but not xe. I want a cheaper conroe.

    Thanks

slurrr just sent me a message stating that he just obtained a revision 304 board from fry's electronics, so they already made it to retail channels, the group buy is now officially canceled

thanks for the interest, and i'm sorry i couldn't do more to get them here before they reached normal retailers

But we still have no confirmation that 304's actually support Conroe?

FCG has confirmed the rev 304 will support Conroe (Refer to the sticky thread in this section). In fact, he just posted a thread on the Conroe mod for the 302 rev.

    Sneaky,

Thanks for all the hard work you put into this effort.

Hmmm... There's a Fry's about a hundred miles north of me... I should give them a call and see if I can find a geek to help me out on the whole rev 304 issue. $250+ is kinda steep, but ... well... If I could have it tomorrow? Of course I still need ram, pci-e graphics (still on 6800gt agp), power supply and an 805 until conroe hits.

    Let's make that call.
