I like layout - so clean.
Hmm...this thing has only 4-pin power connector instead of 8-pin...strange
On the other hand the expansion slots are piss poor. No PCI-E if you use crossfire and only one PCI. In their defense they have moved away from their usual blindingly garish color scheme.
Intel i7-3770S l Thermalright Venomous X l Asus Sabertooth Z77 l 8GB G.SKILL Sniper Low Voltage l ??? l Samsung 830 256GB l Areca ARC-1200 l WD Caviar GreenPower 1TB (RAID1) l Pioneer BDR-207DBK l Creative X-Fi Titanium HD l Kingwin Stryker l Antec SOLO II l HP LP2475w
8-pin power is a gimmik. good from them. this board will support Conroe. i want one ASAP.Originally Posted by Cooper

any info about conroe on this board?
I agree with Bar81. The slot layout is useless. Cases have 7 PCI slots for a reason. Put a PCI-E 1x slot above the 1st 16x so it can be used with a dual card config. Also having to lose a PCI slot for onboard audio sucks. It'd be much better if they did it properly and bundled a PCI soundcard with the board and replaced their special connector with a PCI slot, cos then we'd have 2 PCI slots, which is infinitely more useful that 1 PCI and 1 thing we can only use for their attempt at sound.
Still at least theyve made a better job of the colour scheme, has plenty of fan headers, and they havnt turned it into another load of Fatal1ty branded![]()

they put a molex conector on the bottom of the board againother than that though im excited about this i used to love abit they made great intel boards.
edit: no conector for floppy drive either

the PCI Express ports are too damn close to deal with.
unless you run low profile cards...
which these days, no top card is low profile.
sucks especially for watercoolers...
this is of course assuming one was using Crossfire with top cards in there.
I like that the PCI slot is dying out from motherboards.
manufacturers need to get off thier but and start making PCI-E devices.
as of today, I only know a few raid cards, and 2 NIC cards are PCI-E.
nothing else.
be nice when they start actually trying to use this technology instead of it sitting there useless on our motherboards for the last year or so.
however, in the end.
Abit still makes good Intel based boards, so I'd be curious to give this board a try, especially after Hipro gets one and posts 100 mods for it, haha.
(think of his AS8 and IC7 Posts)
Well it sucks for SLI/CF and you only get one PCI slot which is idiodic.
But I do have to agree with kunaak that it would be nice to start seing some PCIE devices like NIC's and SOUND CARDS!! But until that happens, we need more than just one PCI slot.
And the back panel leaves alot to be desired. How about 5 USB ports and one GB Ethernet.. NO ONE uses both of them, and if you are using both you shouldnt be..
No more floppy and 1 IDE. I guess this is the trend now..

I see what I see, and you see what you see. I can't make you see what I see, but I can tell you what I see is not what you see. Truth is, we see what we want to see, and what we want to see is what those around us see. And what we don't see is... well, conspiracies.

I however for the first time in my life actually like the look of the abit board. DFI started a great trend of black pcb with their NF2 Lanparty series and then asus and msi went black as well. Looks great and clean. Hopefully it should perform well and help abit break the hold asus has over the intel ocing market.

Am not liking the placement of the Ram but then again this is an Intel board... and the lack of PCI and IDE is not going to make some people happy.

Modern Ram, makes an old overclocker miss BH-5 and the fun it was
Crap layout, IMHO. For starters, Abit should begin by using the 7 defined expansion slots of every full ATX board/case, the following arrangements seem to make the most sense right now:
PCIe 16x - PCIe whatever - PCIe whatever - PCIe 16x - PCI - PCI - PCI and maybe, once more PCIe add-in board become availabe,
PCIe whatever - PCIe 16x - PCIe whatever - PCIe whatever - PCIe 16x - PCI - PCI
PS: I like the lack of OTES fan, though
Good looking board, stuff that i'd like to get rid of:
Floppy, IDE 1 and 2, SATA I
Stuff that I'd like to see more of:
Good SATA II placement, RAID 5, 3 PCI slots, proper spacing between PCI-E slots, digital regulation of v's, spaced RAM slots.

And what the heck is the bottom PCI-1X slot there for? Almost resemble a CMR slot since its up closer to the edge of the mobo.

But probably this board has not support for Conroe.Anyone know somethingh about it??
And also anyone know where I can find Intel 965 XE cpu?
Thank you !!
I like the look of this board, forward thinking and not hanging back with legacy stuff. But to install Raid drives with F6 when setting up XP puzzles me..
Signature? are you kidding? with new stuff coming out every day, why bother ?
damn, i dont like those headpipes... i will not be able to take the board with my v1000... only, if i change the coolers... but the board looks nice!
i would like ti know, if it supports conroe...
nothing to say
