Breaking News! VC's conroe is a fake! the real numbers will even be greater! all in good time. I don't have the real numbers nor do I have any more links or articles or leaks or anything. Somehow AMD has managed to keep it a secret and the WHOLE WORLD doesn't know. AMD has been able to track down every post/article regarding this NEW AM2 on the internet and has successfully removed it.

Come, we live in a world where information leaks out like nothing. If AMD had something in the near future to back up the AM2, it would have leaked out.
Until I see numbers, these statements just don't hold anything.

I trust what RyderOCZ and s7e9h3n say, it's just that i don't know HOW good relative to Conroe, and of course the more important WHEN, and WHERE Intel will be by that time. But it's not like AMD is going away anytime soon, AMD 64 has been out for a while, it's only logical to assume they have something completely new and totally kickass up their sleeves. But right now i'm excited about Conroe

Chips and prototype boards knows its no cake walk. You don't want to see a glimpse of what conroe is capable of then buzz off. You do understand this is a pre-production CPU and a pre-production board/chipset right. It's still full of bugs. Hell you can't even OC the sucker yet.
Also....why do peopel keep saying $300 board...when the conroe launches, you'll have a plenty of boards to choose from and i doubt they're gonna be 300....
$300Conroe+$300Board is still cheaper than the FX-60 alone. It's gotta hurt when you spend 1200 on a cpu and then a $500 cpu comes along and out performs you.
On top of that, what makes you think it's fair to OC the FX-60 and not the conroe...I say OC them both to the max and then bench and see what happens.

I put money that the conroe chip even though full of bugs will whoop on your 4400x2 like no tomorrow.

That's right....until you see numbers they shouldn't mean anything, that statement was not meant to have any value. When the time comes, everyone will know. Conroe's time came and now we know

yikes, if the conroe is full of bugs and it only has a few months before going public, that's pretty scary . anyhow i must bow down to your conroe nightmare. as for dr. john, i owe no one an apology and i post my own opinions. no one is holding a gun to my head, i'm speaking in my own term. let me ask you something, what are you going to do after you're done benching the out of conroe? are you going to toss away a good cpu? or are you going to put it to good use. that's my point. i know we all like to run benches and see who's better than who, but what good does that do for you or me? technology only gets better and as ryderocz said, conroe has its day now and later on, but am2 will show something. otherwise why would amd waste a perfectly good s939 to bring out am2 if it doesn't improve the performance. like the saying goes, beauty is in the eyes of the beholders and so goes for performance is in the eyes of the users. thank you and flame on.

This is shaping up to be a competitive time once again in the CPU wars.

Bottom line for each user is different and has always been that way. No fanboyism, just buy whatever product fits your particular needs and budget.

Who knows, maybe the Conroe will crush the new AM2, or maybe they can be considered equals. Time will tell.....

Well is it fun to write programs or doing cg, is it fun for you? Well believe it or not it is fun for us just to benchmark computers and overclock them, even if we dont use all the power, its fun. You wouldnt understand.

What you don't understand is, without people like victor and fugger, and everyone who CONTRIBUTES USEFULL INFORMATION, you and I and even them wouldn't know all that we do. we wouldn't know what's the better bang for buck, which is the best of the best, for cpu's, mobo's, ram, hd's, video cards, power supply, and so on. So you see, 3d benching and superpi seconds have a GREAT purpose.

Good job, of antagonizing a XIP who brought out the first of conroe results. You'll see a nice ban in no time. Anyways, the reason the "Intel Fanboys" are "talking smack" are because the AMD is keeping their core design the same for AM2 currently. And for those who don't care about what Intel people say, I'd never seen a larger outrage when the "AMD fanboys" say the results of Conroe benches on Anandtech, and declaring biased all over it, while they loved Anandtech when they benched the Athlon64s.

If you're getting tired of 3d benchmarks, super, and SiS benches, you can leave. It'd be nice to not have someone blatter fanboyism into threads then. We don't mind you heading back to your own business. If you're satisfied with your 4400+, then gj. But people here are wanting latest, and greatest, and most powerful.

at the moment the mobo of choice is 340.00 and the 2.4 is "316.00" but I bet that # goes up. Also the FX is being compared to the 2.66 and its over 500.00 according to the list thats out now.

I highly doubt AMD put the FX-62 at 1200.00 and thinks Intel would hold to its 500.00 price range for its top dog.

its interesting when an Intel chip out clocks a X2 by 300ish Mhz thus more Eff. But AMD was out clocking Netburst by nearly twice the clocks.

I can't blame people if I was starving for 3 and 1/2 yrs by Intel I would be very very happy too with Conroe.

I like XS and i think this place has a wealth of info for everyone noobs or pros. another offtopic thing i want to add. that is intel's devotion to their supporters and i'm talking about everyone on this board. the enthusiast intel followers. not since the days of the celeron have i seen intel doing something for the fans or the supporters. you can't beat amd in their support of their supporters in such events as tech tour(last year) and the days of the athlon xp(forget name of event). i can remember hanging out with amd supporters in the cold at 3am hoping to win a prize. the winning wasn't the main thing, it was just the fun of being their and seeing people from amd showing or giving back something to the fans. you can say, bad grammer intended here, amd got mad loves for the fans . i'm looking forward to amd's tech tour this summer and hope to win some prizes or walk away with an am2 bundle . intel, take note and do something for your supporters. word of mouth is the best marketing money can't buy. nuff said and ban me if you deem necessary. peace out .

By "mobo of choice" do you mean that rip Asus WS board? Why would that support Conroe any more than the other boards? As a workstation board, I would imagine that it would have been built to strict specs to maintain perfect stability. Being built to strict specs would mean no Conroe compatibility.

My guess would be that there would be the same ratio of prices/extras for the 975/965 that the 875/865 series had.

Are you suggesting that Intel would increase the price? If you are, why would they do that? I think they would prefer to sell a buh-zillion of the realistic purchase gamma-dog chips at 500 or less than sell a relative handful of super expensive ones. Having the alpha-dog chips out there getting benched is enough. People will buy the g-dog chip in droves in the hopes of clocking them up to a-dog benches or higher. Same as with AMD. I think that Intel will stick with that pricing structure or change it for the better.

and I don't know where you get the price info. of my mobo.
the only thing I can tell you is , 965chipset will be the same price as 945.
so.. the mobo price should be about 150usd~280usd. except some hi-end mobos.

anyway, i'm not a I/fan or A/fan and I'm a idiot in ur programmer's world.
I just like to play everything new and share the result to everyone who care about it.
in fact, I used to have several nice AMD chips:
0517GPMW 3000+ @ 3375mhz 3Dmark05 on DI
0547GPMW op146 @ 3292mhz pi_1m on Air
0536SPMW FX60 @ 1.4v 3.1G 3Dmark05 on Air
e3 32+/38+, FX55, x2 38+/42+/44+/46+/op 175 etc....
so, I'm just a Performance Fan but not a Brand Fan.

the last point: I'm not payed by Intel, all the chips I used to have is bought by my own.
I'm a business man mainly deal with industry products but not an Technician of IT.
I don't care how much money I payed, but really care about how much performance I got from these new chips.

even myself can hardly believe that.
last night I put my Zalman CNS9500LED on my Aopen975xa-ydg to cool my T2600.
when I finished all the benchmark pi_1m/sciencemark/pi_fast/3Dmark/PCmark,
I suddenly noticed I haven't connect the fan on the cooler.
then I realized what happen:
-------------------------
zalman 9500 with no fan
vcore=1.45~1.46v
T2600 @ 3Ghz
78gtx 512m @ 622_1880
only a 3000rpm 4cm fan on NB_Heatsink. no other fans cooling the system.
ambient temp=22c--------------------------
the system passed all the benchs in about 1hour
everest told the cpu temp=27c idle, 35c load


then I can tell why my conroe E6600 don't need a fan but just a Heatsink for cooling.
1.18v core is much lower then Yonah's 1.45v


seems we can throw away our watercooling/T120 and back to 7years ago just a Alu_Heatsink can solve the thermal problem of these chips in the future
