    Thumbs up

Here are alot of pics for you all.....

    This is my watercooling setup:

This is my new chip that I got from ebay:

This is what I have been using to pop lids:

    As you can see:

Here is what it looks like during the 15 second process:

Here is new chip with lid popped (sorry lil blurry):

And after popping a total of 4 different lids on 170's...here is where I am at:

Sorry for so many pics....but I am excited...this is my highest overclock ever! I had a 4000 San Diego chip at 2.9 on air...but this takes the cake. Now lets see what happens when I re-tube my watercooling setup and get a Thermochill PA 120.2..http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...oducts_id=3943
....muwahahahaah....anyways thanks for helping out everybody!

Sweet! I picked up a box cutter at my local grocery store for under a buck, plain old aluminum cutter which only reveals the tip of the razor blade, as shown behind my new opty

it worked wonders.. about 30 seconds and two passes around the chip... the depth of the blade can't reach the resistors, so cutting with confidence was much easier.

Grinch, how do you manage not to rip the ceramic off the resistors with that paint scraper?

Not yet. Its my last resort if my CCB1E 0550 VPMW doesn't cool down in a week. I was very worried yesterday but idle temps have dropped 4C today.

Not exactly, but very close. Similar functionality and design. Its a general window paint scrapper.

Ace has got it. Go for it. Great deal.

You can also use one of the blades from a shaving razor. For me thats was the easiest. The blade is so sharp and thin that you barely have to push to cut the black stuff.

Quoted to show him "the tool". Sadly there are no Sherwin Willams or Ace's anywhere near here, so I can't get that tool. I'm gonna look for it, though.

the shaving razors work alot better and cut through the silicone like a hot knife in butter. Plus they're thinner.

I took the ihs off mine (first time ive done it) and it took literaly 2min to do.

Removing the IHS always takes way longer for me. I never understood how people got it in like, 2 mins. I always take a good half hour to get it done. Maybe I'm just slow/over cautious, but whenever I cut thru all 4 sides, it never wants to come off...so I have to go around, checking all the sides, then pulling on the top, etc. When it finally came off and I saw how close the SMD's on the one side were to the glue I was like DAYUM! She's safe and sound now though, and I'm trying for 2.8GHz on stock voltage. I'll leave it go when I leave in the next 20 mins or so.

You have the wrong tool. I used to use a Xacto knife and it took 30-45min.

I just went topless on my new 0550 VPMW with the paint scraper. It only took 1min. It was amazingly easy and safe compared to the Xacto.

The paint scraper mimizes the reach of the razor blade. The razor blade is extremely thin and just slips into the rubber. Best tool ever for delidding: like a hot knife in butter.

    Gotta to get one.
