I've seen a few posts claiming we have 8 phases with overvoltage and 4 when it is disabled.
    I do not think so.
In my case all 8 mosfets are equally hot with overvoltage disabled.
I believe we have 8 phases either way (with or without overvoltage).
I would appreciate any info on the subject.

Are there any other boards out there with the same 8 phase power regulation?

Or is it unique to this board only?

I saw this post and this is why I never said my thoughts about 8 phases.
    But I am not convinced.
This is a unique 8 phase board and I never saw any info on this.
When ASUS advertises A8N32-SLI Dlx as an 8 phase board I doubt this is under certain conditions, like "when enabling CPU overvoltage".

8 phase must work even at default vcore.
Otherwise someone might be able to take legal actions against ASUS.

My CPU has a vcore of 1.3 to 1.35.
Although I am stable at 1.3v without overvoltage, the basic vcore must be over 1.2v with overvoltage.
I cannot boot with a vcore under 1.2v even though I should, since 1.135+overvoltage (0.165v)=1.3v.

The same could be said of a number of things that could be changed in the bios then. CNQ, GB lanx2, SATA, Raid. All can be enabled/disabled so why not 8 phase power (CPU overvolt). I don't have a measuring tool so I couldn't tell if the 8 phase is in use with or without the overvolt enabled, just speculation. Personally I have the cpu overvolt option enabled all the time (1.2+0.2=1.4v) as it dosn't fluctuate as much underload.

Doesn't the voltage apply in two stages, like 1.2 and then the extra 0.2 when the BIOS has come up? I'm sure I read that somewhere. It might explain why you can't boot below a certain base vcore, Marios. And I'm sure I've had the same problem myself.

Edit: this is an interesting review concerning overall power consumption and the mystery extra chipset:

    Hello My Friend,

I had same problems and until I checked the PSU with a DVM. My questions were answered. My Thermaltake 680 was a POS !!! Moved to a PCPC 850 and never looked back.

    Thanks,

What exactly is the POS about your Thermaltake 680W PSU? I own one myself and I am curious to what you have found to be the problem of this PSU. Did you buy it recently or awhile back? I bought mine very recent and its wattage rating is different than what was reviewed on many sites or from the earlier units.

    Bought it 08/05

    12v rail would run 11.19v
Underload it would go to 11.00v

Started having the system crash and restart.

Then one afternoon a loud "pop" it was dead

    PCDOC1,

It is not the price, I wanted something to install "once" and forget about it. To enjoy all the hardware.

Thanks, I should measure mine and see what the real voltage/output is. In AsusProbe, it says 11.84V all the times. It says the same thing on my Enermax 535W as well. I'm beginning to think my measure isn't really accurate as it says the same thing on two PSUs. But a measurement should be able to give me the correct value.

The mystery extra chipset on ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe is C51D.

    Northbridge: C51D
    Southbridge: CK804

    C51 comes in two versions.
    C51G is also a GPU
    C51D has cut GPU capabilities

CK804 is the well known Nforce4 SLI.

    First thanks for the replay.

I have solved the problem , as you can see I have PSU680W from thermaltek old version 38A on 12V, but that was the problem the power 12V was not stabile when I run the 3d marks in SLI mode ,I had to checkup the 12V output of my PSU by using voltmeter and I found the 12V drop to 11V or less than that when the PC under load, this is the cause of my problem, what I have done it is to open the PSU and increase the 12V relay by monitoring the 12V output in real time using the voltmeter ,so after I have got stabile12V under load my problem gone away now.

Glad everything is falling into place. Also, if you have the newer Thermaltake PurePower 680W, you might not have any problem at all (as reported by many users who have the older units). I reported my finding of the newer or revised units here: http://www.abxzone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102000

Instead of just combined 38A on the 12V rails, it now has a combined amps of 55A, so it's got plenty of power (much more than the older units) to power your system. Glad I waited this long to get it as mine is the latest or revised unit that offers more than previous units.

I just bumped up the FSB to 300 from 250 does anyone see anything wrong with these timings.
As far as I can tell its stable. Can game for hours and it runs Einstien no problems.

Any fix for the "warm boot bug" when cpu pver volt enabled?

I need 1.5V but it gives me that aggrivating warm boot but.

    Vcore 1.335 + Over voltage 0.165 = 1.5v
Is this what you give and you get the warm boot?

At least you found the real cause to the problem and didn't result to blaming the motherboard

i read the first 20 pages and got impatient . i just got a couple quick question to make up my decision between a8n32 sli deluxe and the sli-dr expert. i currentely have an a8n sli deluxe first rev and an a8n-e. both of which cannot do 1t ~ 240-245 fsb. and this is pissing me off. if read that some people are limited to 1t ~ 285-290 which i dont really worry about but is there any fix in later rev's or anything of this board or bios updates that fixes the 1t problem @ all? and is there any cases of people being limited to anything under ~ 270?. this is basically my only concern for this board but if someone could answer this question and maybe list what remaining problems there is with this board it would be most appreciated. thank you
