They insist on that processor issue.
Maybe somebody having a retail CPU starts a new technical inquiry...

This is BS from Asus, as I've had a P4GPL-X (sold now) with the *same* 740M (*retail').. the same bios (0301) as the new board I got last week..Originally Posted by lawrywild

I will do the u-wire trick later this week, but this particular 740M I know will not respond much over default VCore (tried it in P4P800 SE, P4P800-E dlx.. in addition to my first P4GPL-X).. It stops at 2.55.. which it will do @ 1.45.. 24/7 stable.. Just one of those "bad" Dothan's..![]()
I havent maxed ut my fsb yeet due to poor cooling at the moment. But it goes at leat to 220. That how far i have clocked it yet.

ArneJohansen, you need to increase pci-e to go above 220mhz, should be fine at 118mhz pci-e which should give about 250-260 fsb when clockgening in windows

Anyone get the p4gd1 loaded up ,ive been trying but no program i found yet will work. Uniflash, amiflash or afudos116b. Afudos came up with a error saying, no bios info in flashrom. I think the amiflash and the old afudos are just to old. Uniflash fails to write certain sections. Any other programs to try?

Hi!
Ok I see, but you can adjust it in high values, so its not so flexible to be more solid.

Hi!
On these low end motherboards you cant change the core voltage. Its the more advanced card that
have these features in bios.

Hi,
How do I increase my vcore ?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the bios there is a overclock profil to set at 30% overclock. It don't work. because the cpucore
voltage cant rise as high as it must.
Is my MB defectiv ?
Can I change it at your resseller ?
Or..
Can you escalate this vcore matter to a proper department?

Hi David,
Do you as Asus support think that you can help me?
I don´t Want to have bougt a "overclock" MB that can not bee overclocked more then this.. only
22%.. when My cpu can upto 30%
I need the extra to make the grafic card to work well....
I´ve flasched my bios 4 times now with all relesed bios and adjust the bios settings in all the ways I
can think of.
Even when I use the "overclock profil" settings the CPU current fluctuates from 1.42 -1.32 V when I
start a single applikation.
Do you pleese have a chance to checkout if there is a bios to this MB who doesent have a auto
adjusting cpu core voltage (powersaving) built in ??
Or if there is´nt any, maby you have plans to relese a new one anyway soon in whitch you can adjust
this "feature"

[Problem Description]
Hi, I have a problem with cpucore voltage
I can´t get the cpu core voltage over 1.42V it dosent mater how hi I put it in the bios screen (I´ve
been at 1.5V) . When I measure it it never comes over 1.42V..
and when I start a cpu stress program (or a game) the cpucore volt lover it self (just like a built in
powersaver or some thing like that) to 1.32 -1.33 V and when I close the program it´s upp at 1.42V
again. The raise takes approx 3-5 sec (down adjustment takes approx 5-10 sec) The cpu heat never
goes over 45C. I´ve tried to shut of and turn on every bios feature that I can think of but it´s allways
the same.
Is it some "power or heat" funktion who makes this?
The only hardware I´ve change is my motherboard.
Before I didn´t have any problems to get upp to 4.0Ghz at 1.47V
And its not over yet...
I think that He dont have a clue what I'm talking about

LOL! wtf is he talking about..
"Hi!

erm, motherboard, not "card", hardly "low end", not exactly an Asrock is it..
"Adjust settings can wary from version to version."
please asus, get someone who can spell.
"Hi!

again doesn't really make sense![]()

Sounds like they are really not very helpfull there in asus support. To bad the adapter only works on asus motherboards. Would have been nice with some other vendors on the marked. And to bad p4gd1 is no longer available anywhere. I did not have a pcie graphic Card back when the adaptert came available, then i might have bought myselv that motherboard.Originally Posted by lawrywild

I feel ripped when i emailed them and asked "I noticed that vcore has no other options then auto, is there anyway to make it adjustable?"
Asus replied "No Way". I also remember asking something about if it was a issue with certain chips and asus said "From what i understand all pentiums vcores are locked". I never emailed them again after that.

Can anybody give me a guide for VDIMM mod for p4gpl-x. I saw vdimm mod for p4gd1 in p4gd1 thread, but I didn`t understand ANYTHING there, it was so messy.

It may seem that they have hired some "secretary-like" peple to answer "techie" questions..Originally Posted by lawrywild
It would be better if they could "route" the questions to the actual Bios-coders..
It's (for me) obvious that Asus Bios "coders" has done a "revition" with the Bios and/or a "revition" (hardware) with the newer P4GPL-X's.
My old board did have option to adjust VCore.. and that to a very high limit (1.7Volt)..in addtion to the overvolting this first release of the board did (as many have reported here).
Maybe some persons at Asus responsible for the development of this board was "instructed" to "fix" this overvolting issue.. and decided to remove the function(adjust VCore) all toghether from Bios..
With such "knowledgeable" persons at Asus "support" we will never know I guess...![]()
There must be a dodgy voltage regulator chip on these new boards.. I don't think they have removed vcore adjust all together because its still in bios..

Well i got the p4gd1 bios loaded up finally. Vcore still not adjustable. Added a couple options , it posts slower and reads temps really high. They explain the options far better in the bios. Just use the newest afudos and use the same commands as with the old one. Ill give the other versions a try and see what happens.
Afudos /Ip4gd1.rom /n /pbnc
Oh yeah i used bios 1006. The beta 1007 doesnt post.

hmm ok, I'll probably give it a go then..
what are the extra options btw? anything useful? like dividers?

FYI.. I did the u-wire mod this monday.
VCore now 1.55'ish (the board does not overvolt as my previous board).
As expected it did not help much with this particular 740M.. From 2.4 @ 1.34 to 2.52 @ 1.55.. as I've tested before..
But then temps are *much* higher... 45-47 idle.. 65-70 load from 32-34 idle and 46-48 full load @ default VCore (1.34). This with a properly mounted Zalman CPS7000AlCu-LED.
So I use eist to reduse VCore from 1.55 to 1.475 from startup .cmd. I still think P4GPL-X's bios'es report way to high temps..
Ai proactive, qfan I dont think theres any extra dividers. Ill have to look at it more, i loaded up the beta last night i havent reverted back to 1006 yet. The older p4gpl-x bios's from what i noticed read high temps. The latest version seems to be closest to the truth. The p4gd1 reads at least 10c higher than the newest p4gplx bios. It may not be to useful to have the p4gd1 bios loaded now but if they ad adjustable ratio it will be.
Ai booster not proactive. Yeah ddr600 became available at 200fsb. So im sure there are few other odd ones mixed in
