I don't have a thermal sensor on the RAM but my PWMIC temp hits 65C under load. I'm having a SI-120 which is supposed to come tomorrow, hopefully it will cool down the PWMIC.
It's best just to put a fan over it and it also helps cool the ram. The TT BT I have did not cool the PWMIC enough so I put a 120mm over it and the ram.

Ive been playing with a CCB1E 550 VPMW, it can boot to windows at 3ghz w 1.4v but fails prime instantly. I backed it down to 2.9ghz and tried to get it stable with up to 1.6v, no dice. Seems I too, have a weak core 0. So i tried dual priming at 2850 with 1.55v and it failed around 15 mins. Im not sure what to think of it yet, but it seems to be somewhat better than my 543tpmw which did 2750 stable at 1.55v. I really hope itll be stable at 2850 with no more than 1.575v.

Yeah, I was told to ziptie a fan directly blowing to the PWMIC. Too bad my case doesn't have any places to let me install a side fan. I used to drill holes and put fans on the side panel of my last case, but it was so urgly and I finally had to throw away that case.

It's getting crowded with 165's in the fs section.

Pop the IHS, that's what fixed it up for me!

Removing the IHS from my 165 did not make it bench higher. Putting some
AS5 and putting it back on did lower temps just a little.

Popping the top is not a cure-all. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't.

I removed the IHS on my previous 170, it didnt help the OC on that chip at all, and made it harder to get a good mount. Its the reason i bought another 170, is to have one with the IHS untouched.

a good mount? if you're talking phase change, removing the IHS isn't a good idea (IMO).

But for watercooling and select air coolers, should be simple to mount on a naked core, and it has definitely improved some of my OCs.

Of course, the gain in raw computation is much higher than the memory loss.

//EDIT: Wow ben awesome chip, it seems it has no limits You make me jealous j/k nice results

Maybe some 3d benchs/prime and it should deserve a full thread itself

now 2853mhz at 1.536v and 2900mhz at 1.6v dual prime so i'm hoping i can get 2950-3000mhz benchable

what psu did u have before? The only reason i didnt work is because it fluctuated under load?
