rx8, I removed the stock resistor and soldered a trimmer instead. I am at 659Ohms atm. That will give you around 2Vcca++++. The 1.2K Ohms 1.82Vcca didn't do anything, it still did not let me boot at 228fsb with 10x multi. With above 2Vcca+++ I can boot at 255fsb in windows whenever I want to . As hipro5 said, use 533fsb jumper. This mod works and I'm soon to find out with the filtering caps Damn I want 2.7Ghz so bad

thks for the reply, will get one 5k trimmer to try it out when free.

Here the list of resistance i recorded today for you folks who can't get the multimeter to read on jumper pin 2 coz of modded coolers

    = 1.2K Ohms----1.82V (Boots at 9/10/11x227 in windows but 228 no go)
    = 865 Ohms----2.05V (Let's me boot to windows above 9x240fsb+)
    = 658 Ohms----2.48V (Let's me boot to windows above 9x255fsb+)
    = 608 Ohms----2.55V (Let's me boot to windows above 9x270fsb+)
    = 492 Ohms----2.98V (Let's me boot to windows at 9x301fsb)
    = 360 Ohms----3.17V (Let's me boot to windows at 9x301fsb+++)

Guys i need a bit of help. I can't seem to find a supplier for the MOSFET on the adaptor board, it's an SSM9915H by Silicon standard corp. and no one seems to stock them here in the UK. Was wondering if I could get away with another manufacturers N-channel enhancement MOSFET or even better if anyone had one spare or up for grabs. They tend to feature on Asus mobo's alot too so if someone had a dead board I'd be glad to get it from there Cheers.

Your 750 was previously limited to around 2.6 GHz, and now it bench at OVER 2.8 GHz?

And what mods have you done to your adapter to get it to over 2.8 GHz, just the Vcca mod? Or the others also?

    Thanks,
    dan

I beleive the main one he did was pumping 2v+ for the vcca. He probably also did the other mods in this thread.

Only vcca mod. Dan, before the mod my max frequency with 400/533 jumper is 2.6GHz. Most of the lower multi could not reach higher than 230fsb no matter what voltage i used.

After doing the vcca mod, I gained nearly 200Mhz on clock frequency. I had it primed and screen for 9Hrs straight at 1.57V . The max fsb I can boot to windows is 301fsb at 2.95Vcca. I had to tune it down a bit from 3.17Vcca since i thought i could not boot to windows at that fsb.

Atm, I'm only using 2.35Vcca. Because 200x14=2800 2-2-2-5-4-E-A-A-Turbo (Full Pat) is just as fast if not faster than 301x9 runing 5:4 with a sloppy 2.5-3-3 timings.......Also at this Vcca my vcore adjustments are unlocked and not getting reboots from using higher vcore......really weird stuff but it's been fun so far.

    EDIT: Screenies....

    Bootable 301fsb (2.95Vcca)

    Vs.

    Bootable 200fsb (2.35Vcca)

    And.

    Prime95 Stable 2.8Ghz (2.45Vcca)

P.S. If I drop vcca lower than 2.25Vcca it is no longer prime stable and all my vcore options in bios starting at 1.45V+++ is unusable and causes more reboots.

umm... lol? I must admit this threads getting fairly messy. (especially with the first post not being updated to feature all correct mods) but... carrying it just a little too far don't you think? I'd probably solder on the resistor for the vcca.. and that's about it. I'm kinda seeing mixed results from people on everything else.

meh....I didn't want this thread to end on such a negative post. Bluewonder, soldering the resistor might help you get at the clock rate you want or you might need to put afew caps on aswell or you might already be at your max clock for your core. The mods within this thread will help your get past some of the limitations of the adapter, but if your chip is whats holding you back, then you wont get much outta using the mods.

Well thx hipro5! now if asus would just make a socket 478 sli board~
And thx Akura, your insight on the vcca voltage has really helped me and I'm sure manyothers.

Because of the lack of a pot and wanting to make this poor Celeron M 350 B1 explode I modded Vcca to be fed directly by the 3,3V line on the PSU. Result: 200MHz FSB and 100% overclock on air.

Edit: Here is a validation link, vcore is 1,66V

CPU died at about 4,35V Vcca. I'm stupid.

Did about 205MHz FSB at 3,40V Vcca.

I measured my Vcca with jumpers on 400fsb, its at 2.17V.

While the measurement at jumpers on 533fsb is at 1.81V(modded with 3.1k ohms resistor in parrallel).

Im using a celeron 350J @ 2.35Ghz, 180fsb on the 400fsb jumper select. This probably explains y i can OC better with the 400fsb jumper setting even with the mod on the 533 side.

shd i go on n redo the mod to get even higher Vcca?

Kamerat, why are you using the 3.3 line from the psu? heres an idea, why dont you try a pencil mod on the resistor? that should raise the voltage abit. or i guess if you just put some solder on the resistor to create a short between the ends that should give you around 3.3 volts.

hmmm hipro5 says no more then 2.15v on vcca if you're air cooled. 180 fsb isnt bad, maybe try to use a memory divider to increase performance, or use 1:1 and very low timings.

When setting fsb on 200. and boot and oc with clockgen, you also can get higher fsb?

Vcca mod = No more Clockgen/Eist in windows to adjust clock and fsb (ghost or no ghost) You achieve your max fsb and frequency prefferably for P4P/P4C since these mb has multi options in bios.

Wanted a simple and nasty mod and I got exactly the voltage I wanted. But now when the CPU is dead it's no need for the mod anymore.
