Even at this resolution, 4x AA is a nice to have. Sure you can play without, but it´s quite a difference. Same with filtering...blurry textures don´t look good on high res either...

Shader Model 3.0 allows programmers to write more complex programs.
Make it easier to trace uplinks and downlinks...
The pixels needed to run the app are pre-detected, so you have a speed gain....
It's a little like CPU's cache principe.
However, Nvidia's pixel pipes use 1024 pixels lot to run.
The brute power is enormous, but misused, caus' you have to write a very proper code to gain from that architecture, which is not always the case
ATI's implementation is much more efficient
3dmark'06 is a heck of a test.....no that good, not that bad...
first, ring-organised memory controller...flexible at the most...
SM 3.0 in pixel pipes are treated 4 by 4, which is far more efficient that "brutal" Nvidia implementation....
In fact, ATI's card are able to manage floating point textures in 16 Bit mode....which would allow awesome lightning effects.....not that used at this time...but we'll see it for sure...
Remenber that you can add AA with HDR...on X18.. series....
Of course, playnig @ more than 1900...you won't need AA...

Which game is going to be released soon that will make X1900XT a must buy right away?
COD2 is also very shader dependent, newer games come out all the time. Not to mention ut07 which is coming out soon

It's not a must buy for many of us but....
I have a friend who will spend many months on and off (6+) in those 2 games in the next 2 years so for her it's worth to have the best!

The CPU score is killing you. I get more than you in 2k6 but less in 2k5 (11354 max so far).
