they always look great, then come with bare bones bioses.
that have no overclocking features... then people mod the boards to hell... and they still suck.

Aopen, has the worst track record possible for Dothans and such...
maybe this board will have no oc options, but it will encourage other mobo manufacturers to make yonah boards, and not all of them will be bad. (i hope)

Mabye If DFI gives primary school children all the parts of the power system the children can actually make it stable, reliable, and make it so it wont fry your ~$1000 CPU.

Asus are the best for stock, Abit used to be good but are a bit pants now imo. But for OC'ing DFI are light years ahead, you can't dispute that. As for frying CPU's... as long as you don't put stupid volts through it you'll be fine.

Cpus died on DFI even in the hands of experienced users and without using extreme voltage. I am not saying DFI is bad, it makes great boards, I had several DFIs myself. But Asus kills hardware too, quite a few dothan users know about asus killing memory![]()

I hope DFi will do a similar board which overclocks like DFI usually does!

Just the news I was awaiting.
After reading Anandtechs preview of the Yonah my analyzes says that Yonah will conquer the enthusiast computers of the first half of 2006... if a overclockable desktopboard is released. Dothan allready overclocks to 2,8-3GHz - the 65nm should improve the max clock.
Look at the summary below - the performance is on par with Athlon64 X2 except in gaming, but since the framerates are below 100 the difference is on average in worst case ~5FPS and the Yonah system don't even have high performance DDR2....
Also keeping in mind that the Yonah use less power full loaded than a idling A64 X2 at same clock frequency makes it quite impressive.
Single thread performance compared to Dothan is increased as well...

As far as mobos, Only time will tell the best one. I only do not preferr DFI because they are still new in the performance segment.

Why in the world are IDE connectors placed at an angle to eachother??![]()
The blue is proberly a IDE controller of the southbridge meant for optical drives (commonly placed in the top of a case) where the yellow ones are from a 3rd party raid controller meant for harddrives wich is commonly placed low in a case.Originally Posted by Pipi

I don't know if it's american or canadian dollars, but I pretty much expected these prices. I hope a 1,66GHz does 2,8GHz+ - a Dothan 1,73GHz nearly does and Yonah should be improved with 65nm process.
