Monarch/Newegg will go through such tremendous quantities of these that in the first week all the first batches will be swept away.

    LOL

    Hey Dinos,

Maybe all these CPU's are CABNE0530APMW, isnt tht a stepping for FX57 chips (think i read tht somewhere) anyone care to specualte tht these are rebadged FX57's!

With seen alot of talk abt the different 'qualities' of the Opteron brand, but is it safe to assume tht seeing the chips have the same stepping they are coming from the same production line and same silicon??

Just imagine, 1mb FX57 chips being rebadged for the 'server' market being systematically picked up by avid overclockers, anyone care to imply that AMD is doing this on purpose, hehehhehee

Anyway I got some details on the 3Ghz run of the chip im going to get, Ive been told tht the run was on STOCK COOLER, tht it was a SuperPI test tht was run to check for stabilty (I imagine just a quick 1M) and the voltage was 1.55v. It was a smash and grab job done very quickly (well he's got a store to run!).

Great to see more results, im sure we r going to be flooded very soon; spoilt for choice; nice

R and A are the same thing. thanks to ocdetective for this:

First Digit is either R through to X for Monday to Sunday or A through to G for same. M means mixed assembly lot.
    P merely means Penang
3rd digit is the sequential batch of cores used in assembly - so if they are using the first batch for that day its an A second batch is B and so forth. M means the cores used in the assembly came from different batches.
The existence of a W for the 4th letter means mixing of wafer lots in the core fabrication was prohibited. Its absence means the wafer lots could be mixed when making a batch of cores.
0450 etc is self explanatory and is the week of assembly.

I've got a bad feeling we won't be getting CABNE0530APMW here in Australia... the good ones always get snapped up before they have a chance to pop up here...

Only time will tell - not to mention the ETA is still at least over a week... if these are already hard to source in the USA... then I have a bad feeling they won't be available for a long time here in Aussieland, and if they did surface eventually, it would most likely be a later week.

    Ahhaa logic, is the keyword

Simple question (the answer may not be so simple, hehehee), why would it be illogical to rebrand an FX? They cost the same to enginneer, the same to produce (if we take out the testing costs, assuming they DO test more stringently for Opterons), and both are at the highend of the market.

Im not saying they ARE rebadged, just trying to make some XS members think a little more, LOL . The ONLY thing we have to draw the conclusion tht they arnt re-badged is the word of AMD, now remember they r a corporate company, do we take wht they say for face value?

A more interesting piece of information, which will come form independent sources is tht which is ongoing here at XS. The discussion abt pre-amble could go some way to proving/dissproving the argument at hand. If it comes to light tht the pre-amble timing for BH-5 on Opty 939 varies from A64 then their would be a strong case tht the Opty are NOT re-badged. Now if their is no distinct difference the argument will continue

So where do you place the value of logic? Logic can only be applied when the parts of an equation you are dealing with r taken as fact, if we dont know 100% tht we r dealing with facts (i.e. Opteron 939 are tested more throughly) then logic cannot be applied. Only by making the pressumption, tht AMD is honest and true can we say tht Opty 939 is NOT rebadged.

Personally I dont think we will ever really know if they r re-badged or not!

Because AMD make die and put it in package ... => Processor !
AMD will not make a FX-57 and clean the CPU for write Opteron 144 on it !
    It's 100 % illogical !

AMD make die, they know if these die are good or not, they use for few CPU as FX-57 and Opteron !
But take a FX-57 and rebadged it in Opteron 144 is fault and doesn't exist.

But you can say that AMD use the same quality die for FX-57 and Opteron (Maybe not all).
