Dual Core Opteron Thread #2

I have a question, my 165 CCB1E 0609FPMW is @ 2808 with 1.37 vcore, stable. I tried 3GHz but its not stable even when i raise the vcore to 1.57. Is there anyway i can get it to 3GHz without delidding it ? Does getting a better BIOS help in anyway?

This is on air btw. My max temps currently are within 48C after 12hrs+ dual priming.

all dc opty's are denmarks, denmark = toledo. all dc opty's show toledo in apps such as cpuz.

Oooh, I have same stepping. I'd be happy to hit 2.8 on 1.37v.

It should do 2.8 for you at that voltage or a little above, depending on your memory divider settings.

Put your memory on a divider, or raise it's Voltage a bit or relax your timings of put the mb inside a mini refrigerator.

I might not need a divider yet, remember that my memory hits DDR600 (actually, DDR630 at commercial timings of 2.5-4-4-8)

good to see a nice opty 170, but I still think the 165 is a superior overclocker over it's 170.

Yeah, cheaper in this case=better.

my opty is doing 2.98 Ghz with 1.58 volts. Do u think i should go higher?

My 165 does need a lot of volts after 2.81, and that means ultra high PWM temps (75C...) anyone else have this problem?

just mount a nice 97mm fan over your pwmic, i did with this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811999039
now my pwmic temps are at 40C at full load and 30C at idle, the same with my chipset. keep your pwm temps down and you will see more stable clocks :D

Dagalidis i figure your superpi would be better at those clocks.. what is your memory divider and what are your timings? i'm hitting 27.325s on superpi 1MB at 3080mhz @ 3-3-2-1 2.8v 166 05/06 divider RAM @ 280Mhz :D

It is already on a divider :). 5/6 divider, 255Mhz (G.Skill DDR500 2x1GB). i tried to lower the ram speed on different dividers but no use.. If temps are not too high then y wont it be stable @3GHz or even 2.9Ghz o_O. With voltage i reached about 1.6 lol not going there again :P

Still Low Performance even with higher overclock...:(
Crappy DDR from Gskill all i can say.. Value for money but NOTHING else...:banana:

P.S: Used to have 0610DPMW as well.

Got a question, I am a little new to OCing, but what are some max temps that I should see? I am running SuperPi 32M right now at 3015 MHz; and I am seeing around 46 C. Some of this can be blamed on my case which does not have the best airflow, but even with side off and box fan blowing I see 42 C.

I'd get the best airflow possible. Do not let load temps over 50C.

I plan on lowering volts from 1.52 to around 1.4-1.45 and I also plan on upgrading the two 120's that came with my Lian Li. Any other suggestions on lowering temps, without removing IHS(got to remember that I am new to this)?
