I have messed with the settings alot. I determinded with my card particular card there was no articfacts, yet if let looping something like 3Dmark or ATi tool for any length of time, if would lock the card up at some stage sooner or later.

can you post the tweaks? :DQuote:

dont forget to test your timings.
found they are good for benchs.
though long stability loop testing, found that many timings cause the card to fail (kick out of game or bench)
Just for people's info:
I'm using a Sapphire X850XT (not PE) and eshbach's timings gained me 180 points in 3DMark '05 when the card is at stock.
I did some testing and this is roughly equivalent to a 48 Mhz increase on the memory clock.
In addition, here are my stock memory timings:
TRCDRD: 7
TRCDWR: 4
TRP: 6
TRAS: 14
TRRD: 5
TWR: 7
TR2W: CL+3clock
TW2R: 3
TR2R: USE TW2R RULE
TR2R: 2
WR_LATENCY: 1.5
CAS_LATENCY: 7
CMD_LATENCY: 0
STR_LATENCY: WR LATENCY
REFRESH_RATE: 0x20
TRFC: 27
:banana: :banana: :banana:
:woot:
eshbach - you are a total genius!
Your timings helped me creep into the next 1k in 3DMark '05!
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1284492
LOL @ the score!
I only had to drop somewhere between 6 - 20 Mhz off the memory clock, but using your timings gave me the extra 200 points I needed to get 8k!
Have a beer! :toast:
EDIT - I'd be intrigued to know what people's experience would be of using different refresh times. I calculated the best refresh for me to be 0x23, but didn't bother to test more. 0x75, as suggested by eshbach, sounds too slow to me.
I suspect refresh would be more of a stability setting than a performance setting. Those of you on DFI boards - think about the Tref setting in the BIOS...
Just tried them on my BBA ATI x800xl and I got artifacts in windows, had to reboot lol. Gonna play with some of these now instead of writing my English paper :)Quote:

Thanks :toast: (and sry for my English)
not shure if it has been posted but the 7800gtx uses the same 1.6ns ram that the x850 uses if someone knows what timings it uses then in theory you could make a custom x850 bios that would be able to overclock to almost 1400 ram! does anyone know what these timings are?
I`m check "Memory refresh rate", ATT bench.
Default is 35 - 7250
Maximum 255 - 7290
0.55% :(.
Does anyone know why ATI Tray Tools reports almost completely different memory timings?
Thats a wicked idea, would wish somehow it could be possible without some sort of advanced coding/hacking of the bios to make it trick out. Maybe its a hardware limitation would make such a thing impossible.Quote:

Good thing is the X800 and X850 still stack up well to ATI's lastest offering and is still DX9 based, so no need to feel as being far technologically behind in the hardware (for those of use that cannot afford the lastest and greatest immediately as something new is released).
So, I`m trying...
Reference X850XTPE
Stock vs Modify
7250 vs 7400
+2% perfomance. No bad :).
TWR ->6
TW2R ->0
TR2R ->1
Memory Refresh Rate ->255
TRFC ->16
3DMark05 6537 ->6607 (+1%)
Any Results of Connect3D X800GTO @ XT yet? Tried eshbach's settings and this worked well for me. ~100Pt. gain in 3D05. But 20Mhz decrease in Mem-Clock. All Results @ X800GTO @ XT (i haf 2 upd8 ma sig..)
E: upd8 finished.
I disagree.Quote:

My results (see previous posts in this thread) show approx. 15 Mhz reduction in clock speed as a result of the tighter timings, but the tighter timings equate to 50 Mhz clock speed increase!
i seem to have made an intersting find :)

with the cf bios i am able to get a little over 15 more mhz out of my ram :) (but the cf bios is gehy if not on a cf card... :stick: )
I'll flash my card with these settings, but I can't find some options in the BIOS Editor:
CMD_LATENCY: 0
STR_LATENCY: WR LATENCY
REFRESH_RATE: 0x75
TRFC: 23
And there's 5 options you haven't specified here:

How should I set them?
I'd like to know that too??? :confused:
My guide is for changing the timings with ATI tool, not for bios. I haven't tested timings with any bios editors.
can anybody help me... i nvr overclock my cpu and my x850xt but my idle temp is around 54degree and full load is at 91 degree. previously i did change the memory setting but howeer i had already format my pc, the ram setting still stay inside my bios?
how did you edit them? :)
under the memory setting in ati tool lor... just use the drop down box and adjust it.Quote:
