Actually the restriction of the MCW60 and Maze 4 are much the same... the Maze 4 is possibly a little less restrictive and a little less performing, but as there's about 1c diff between a Maze 4 and an MP-1 on an X1900XTX...
As for MP-05 LE vs. Storm v2, the storm wins on performance but looses on barbs and mounting - and if you get an MP-05 Pro LE from Petra's, price as well.
triple radiator has big difference to dual? And thermochill HE is so much better than Black ice xtreme 3 ?

Its better.. dont know if its that much better, not much interest in radiators designed for 130CFM+ per fan these days... probably on account of 3 150CFM deltas make your room sound like a car assembly line.

theres this pump, its sold on dangerdenstore.com, called the mag 2 LE, which performs sorta crappy but is supposed to be reli small and reli quiet. Its like diameter of a mouse. 2 of them should pump as much water as a single strong pump, and silenx fans, plus decent radiator.
according to some owners review on this forum the mag is very noisy

if you say vibrates too much then there are ways to remedy that, proper decoupled mounting, gel pad, neoprene pad....

When using the EK fittings on a storm block, am I suppose to use the original o-rings that came with the block aswell as the o-rings that came with the Ek fittings?
Upgrading from a 120mm BIX...... How about a Black Ice GT Stealth 240mm?? It's profile will fit inside my case with the fans. The 240mm BIX-II may not fit inside and if it does it will be really tight. I think I'm limited to these two choices for price and size.
Any other ideas in the $50 range for a radiator?
So far it between the GT Stealth or BIX-II 240mm rads. Would a BIP-II be a consideration as well? I don't care about the noise- just the cooling. I'm only using this for the CPU and I thought a BIX would handle it, but load temps around 50C kinda scare me on water. I'm looking for mid 40's under load.
The GTS radiators are the best bang-for-your buck by far, and they work well no matter the CFM of the fans. However, a BIX or GTX radiator will perform the best with a high (100+) cfm fan.
Not quite sure how you're getting that: the GTS is actually very restrictive, for both coolant flow, and air flow. It'll give you the best performance, with a hefty pump and a powerful fan (most likely noisy).Quote:

nope. for cooling the new quad-cores, the best block out is the D-Tek Fuzion.

yeah got a tuniq tower on it at he moment. Hit 3.6Ghz but temps were 50c idle. Did it quickly so didnt see how low i could take the volts thou.
Just wanted to put it on water cos of noise really.

This apparently is now the top block, as it has been tested and shown that its better than the storm.
Swiftech Apogee - 45USD - The newest block from Swiftech that takes a step backwards in performance. It is essentially a MCW5000 respun with a new manufacturing process (cheaper), and new delrin top. While Swiftech says its the best thing since sliced bread and Television, please try to avoid it as EVERY other block on this list performs superior to the Apogee

I haven't seen a test made under appicalble conditions with those results, mainly because there are so few people who actually have the know-how and the equipment and the free time.
There is a thread called "has anyone seen the D-Tek Fuzion?" its buried somewhere in this forum. Someone used scientific equipment stuff and concluded that fuzion beat storm by 0.2C at 100W (which isn't that great) but had like 1/10 the restriction or somethign!Quote:

For what its worth, I bought two FuZions and one Apogee GT. The Apogee GT is being used and the FuZions are in my closet. If you can find me a G5 to buy for less than $300, I'll buy it and let you know how it does. I don't dwell on theoretical exercises because I cannot get my hands on a G5. And I know for sure that a Storm Rev2 G4 is inferior to the Apogee GT on a Kentsfield.
Its my Kentsfield, so maybe the Apogee GT is better on my Kentsfield only. Whatever. The FuZions are going into lesser PCs. Just my contribution.

i truly think you guys need to revoke that statement.
whomever tried or read about it and made that statement either had a bad block, bad fitting, bad loop, or just didnt have a clue.
i have had 5 different swiftech blocks, all of them improved on the last, and to compare the Apogee to an MCW5000 without a doubt 100% proves that you have neither used it, nor know what your doing.
the MCW5000 is one of the most worthless blocks ive ever had the displeasure of owning. and i am appauled that your guys would compare it to it.

when its all said and done the apogee can hang in there with the most expensive blocks around, and its been proven time and time again that it can.
it works well off low flow and high flow pumps as i have tried both, and am trying a new one this weekend which will be on the mid to high flow range.
i really think you guys need to put it on the recommended list, not the do not buy list, how many times does it need to be proven as a very good and competative block before you change the statement on the 1st page?
And the MCW5002 is slightly better than the 5000 with properly fitted 1/2" barbs. I do say, at a cost to "the cutting edge performance", the MCW5002 is the block of blocks. In fact, unless the mounting area shrinks substantially (which I doubt it will within years), the MCW5002 will always be able to be used with any system with simple modifications (i.e., making a simple "frame" and punching two or four holes in the correct spots).
There are many good blocks out there, and the differences between them are tiny, usually. However people don't see this and buy expensive stuff that actually might not be ideal for their situation. To truly tap the full potential of a better block, you need insane pumping power. And its not like the kind of pumping power that comes from adding a pump. You need tons of flow to see a big difference between 2 blocks that are pretty close together. And many blocks are pretty close together...

I have a question, could you (or anyone else) start a guide for cases that are good for water cooling with little/no modification? I am considering getting water cooling for my system (Ill put it in my sig eventually), but all of my cases are small (New,Old). I really don't know any good websites for buying cases, all I really use is Newegg.
Maybe if someone starts a guide like this, they could put case name, price, radiator size it can hold, price, what people think, ect.
There are very cases that has hold radiators without hardly any modding. One is the Mountain Mods UFO case (mountainmods.com) which can hold a Pa/He 120.3 withouth any modding in the front.Quote:

Hi guys I have a question is swiftechs Rad 676 any good by today standards?
Stacker is not that good for watercooling though I feel. Not if you must use all the drive bays anyway. I managed to fit a MCP 655, MCW60, Apogee with 1/2" tubing but my god it´s hairy. And it wouldn´t work without heavilly modding if I didn´t fit the radiator outside the case. As it´s I am mm from crushing both my X-fi and 8800 GTX.
However about these additives. I don´t know if I run a mixed metal loop or not.
I have the Swiftech apogee, mcw60 and mcr330 rad. What additives would I need?
The Cuplex XT is a poor choice for dual core IHS' topped blocks, and I have to say that I dislike all of AquaComputers products due to their use of high restriction everything, mixing aluminum and copper and lastly the use of thermaly ineffecient desings (usually).Quote:

I had exactly the same problem with the exact samee NB block on my P5WDH way back last year, but with some select work with a dremel I cut channels out of the acetal so that the scew in hook could fit through, clamp down well and not touch the Acetal and also the mobo hooks didn't touch either.Quote:

I thought this was the right place to ask...is the ek-wave acetal for amd 939-940-am2 any good in cooling my 939 opteron 175? And maybe later on some quad cores made by Intel or Amd i dont't know yet since it's not upgrade time.
It'll do the thing for your Opteron. But might want to look at the FuZion of Apogee GTX if you plan on getting a Quad core later.
Its just that the EK is cheaper than the gtx. And the swiftech is out of stock here in Finland. Maybe i should be more patient and wait for the gtx.

the bolt-thru kit backplate works, but is not ideal.
I think if you are going to use a thermalright backplate, you want to use the one here: Thermalright LGA775 RM http://www.thermalright.com/a_page/m...ion_lga775.htm
the problem with the one linked is that it is designed for screwing into from above, not screwing through the bottom as we do with watercooling blocks.
the threaded bolts could leave the backplate to not sit flush.
the one I linked, the backplate is the one provided with the xp-120.

I have a question concerning water additives. For biocide I'll be using PT-Nuke in my loop. The thing is that I want some color in it too, so my question is, does anyone have long term experience with Pentosin G11/G12? Not only concerning color stability, but I'm wondering also if this stuff turns into goo after months in a loop? Does it leave any residue? If so, could anyone recommend another type of dye?
I found this PC-ICE stuff, would that be long term stable? (I really don't care about 2-3°C worse temps here)
