No problem mate. Mine is PC4000/Z505 and here are the params I've found easy to work with while overclocking the CPU:

As you can see these are loose constraints. Once you've reached the CPU speed limit, you may want to fine tune the memory timings from there and get the most bandwidth out of your rig.
For your reference I've digged a few "refined" settings out of DIY-street's OC Database:

Many Thanks VWS.Having some trouble but am fast coming to the conclusion I have yet another duff stick.
The CL1117 stick is ok on its own but as soon as I stick the other CL1115 stick in it bsods and or refuses to go past post etc.
I had the same trouble with it in my RDX200.
I get no errors on memtest but am giving the suspect stick to a friend to test as I have had instances before of errors
on an amd xp sys but not on an amd64s sys.

Popped 1.61v in it and temps shot up to 69deg c on Prime 95.
Not stable on Prime 95 at 3060Mhz so will pop 1.55v in and lower it from there.Def hotter than the CCBBE.

ill put the result on my santa-anna 1210 this week end when ill have it running.. but it wont be on some top end ram.. so i wont expect some crazy numbers on air.. but still gonna give it a shot

What do Opteron 170s overclock like compared to 165s?
Im stuck here with a DFI RDX200 which doesn't go much past 300Mhz fsb so I think a 170 may be better than a 165.

I suspect the average OC on the 170 will be a bit higher then the 165 but the stepping may be a better guide. Obviously average just means average. You could get a 170 which need 1.55V to reach 2.6g while a 165 which reaches 2.8g at stock. Personally, given the price difference I wouldn't recommend the 170 unless you think you might need the multi

I was just wondering why we're all still harping over these chips when Intel's Core 2's kill them and AMD's K10's are right around the corner? Don't get me wrong, I love my 165 but I'm transferring it to my wife's PC as soon as I get a hard release date for Crysis. That game is going to chew up and spit out any hardware that isn't completely up-to-date at the time of it's release. Even then, I doubt many will be able to enjoy it at it's max settings without having a multi-GPU config. Ahhh, the price of progress.

Hello! I am currently using a 4400+ @ 240x11=2.64GHz using 1.5v. I have overkill liquid cooling, and the temps range from 17C idle to an Orthos-induced max of 26C. I am staying with this system until the end of the year, and would like to upgrade as much as I can. I know that I can find an FX-60 rolling around, but as I have a DFI Expert and PC-4000, I really just need a multi of 11 for reasonable maximum potential (300 x 11 = 3.3GHz (I wish)).
Anyway, I recently read something quite odd; it suggested that all Opterons of a given stepping are the same; i.e. a 170 & a 185 of the same stepping are identical except for the 170 having the multi capped at 10, where the 185 is capped at 13. This suggested that assuming that they are both of the same stepping, and the multi was set to 10, they would both have approximately the same maximum speed potential.
This is a wild thought, but not completely unreasonable. So first of all, can anyone give me info along these lines? Is this true or does potential in Opty's work just like most other CPUs with faster-rated CPUs having a higher speed potential?
Secondly, I keep reading about how varying the potential is using this stepping or that; can anyone tell me if there is anyway to obtain new CPUs of specific steppings, or is it just all based on luck? Depending on what info I gather here, I'd like to order my new Opty in the next day or so, probably from newegg since they have all of the socket-939 Optys in stock (unless someone knows of a better source?), and would just like to make the best possible decision. Thank you in advance for any information that might help me make this call.
Your best bet for getting a good stepping is buying used; whether it's off ebay or the FS forum here or elsewhere.
About the 165-185 steppings, a 185 or 180 or the same stepping as a 165 will probably clock better, but there are no guarantees. CCBBE 185's have a good chance of getting to 3GHz with stock or up to 1.4 volts, while that's unlikely for other chips (though it is possible). 165 CCBBE chips have more variance.. some might only get 2.6 on 1.35 while others get 2.9+.

Internel temperature sensors?
I'm on water and I put in a CCBBE0613RPMW last week.
I've always gone by the motherboard sensor - which for now is showing at 30 degrees. However, I've since realised that I can get 2 core temperatures from the CPU itself.
I've always tried to stay under 50 degrees CPU temperature, as reported by the motherboard, but even with the motherboard sensor showing 45, the internal CPU sensors are hitting 65.
Given that I've never paid any attention to CPU sensors before, what temperatures should I be staying away from? And how reliable are the internal sensors?
Something else that should help is removing the IHS, that'll be done in the next week or so - out of thermal paste just now, waiting on some MX-1 arriving.
