I have a UD3P rev 1.1, Q9650 vid 1.25 V, 4x2gb of ram pc2-8000 5-5-5-15 2.0 V - 2.1 V ...
I would like to get to 4.2 ghz ... :)
My voltages are above ... what should I change?
thanks
since your running 8GB of ram i would try this for 9x467@4203

if this doesnt work we may need to find your optimal mch reference setting.
keep us posted
its not too high for a quad core.after you get it somewhat stable we can then fine tune it
and start lowering voltages to the minimum needed ok?if your worried you can add a small 40mm fan over the NB heatsink.
i only needed one when i was doing 500fsb and higher with 1.40v-1.46v vNB.
use prime 95 small fft's first to see if you vcore is high enough for that OC
keep an eye on your temps make sure you cooling is keeping up with the OC
if it run for 1hour then try lowering your vcore one notch and try again.
P.S your english is fine.
with the voltages that I had passed all the tests first, then suddenly, when I did not do any tests, but if you just listen to music or surfing the internet ... I restart the system without giving me any blue screen ... yet when I have my blue screen crashes the system! because I disabled the automatic restart on error! may depend on what? :(
cmq proove with your voltages and let you know ...
thank you very much
Hello, I still have restarted in test ...
with those voltages I set, I have no problem and can not exceed 2 hours of prime95 small and bled ... with low temp ... High 65 ° ...
Why have these restarts?
Now I tried to set everything to default and installed the old BIOS F9, to see if I still have the problem ...
I start from 0 and restart the ovrclock set the operating frequency 400 x 9 ... which settings should I set?
thank you very much
and for me radaja I ran prime95 at 445x9 for two hours and all went well, temps were at 66 100% load, is that abit high? i should also add my puter is about 2 feet away from my heat register lol should i start to turn down voltages a notch now? I appreciate your help as Iam sure raffaele2521 does as well, will be nice to finally get this stable at a 4.0o/c once and for all, what realy made a difference was changing those auto values in bios to normal !!
well not stable was just burning a dvd and system restarted and said that it recovered froma a problem so any ideas as to what i can do next thanx
i think that its my ram fault cuas itsis rated to 1333 and i have it a 1066 now but it is cheaper ram so should i try a different strap/ iam on 240b now, Maybe i will try and take my ram down to 1000, any suggestions?
Try HCI memtest in windows to test for memory problems. Open up 4 instances of the program and divide up your free memory between the four of them. Only leave the 4th instance set to "all unused ram".
Here is a little something I've been playing with since updated to the final f10 bios.
My third core is a piece of junk. I can prime with the other three cores at 1.45 but number three will fail instantly. No other setting help it last longer other than vcore. Sooooo... vcore is what it gets. :D
i think i found the problem, when i went into my bios under ram settings they were set to auto, .my ram is rated 9,9,9,24 and in cpu-z it showed that my timings were 8,8,8,20. and these elpidas are gargbage and i think the timings were way to tight so I set them manualy to 9,9,9,24 and will run some tests to see if that made a difference, I have 8 gigs of g.skill ripjaws DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM comming any day now, so hopefully those will work better for me, If my ram was to tight will it cause my system to reboot< my temps are very low! I will post back as to how it goes
Good chance that's the problem.
yes I know that now lol, I totaly overlooked that when i started to o/c my board Iam sure that was my proble, I havent tested it out in prime95 yet but that elpida ram of mine isnt anyting to write home about, actuall it was showen as 8,7,8,20 in cpu-z wich is probably way to much to ask out of my ram, when it is supposed to be 9,9,9,24 I will test it out later today and hopefully all goes well. I will post back my progress
HCI memtest tests MCH and GTls also in addition to the memory, correct?
BTW, Im getting my G.Skill DDR2 9600s PIs today :)
ok looks like those ram setting were my problem. now i can get on with o/cing my q9650 past 4.0 stable, anyways here are two pics of my ram benchmark with everest I guess by leaveing the ram settings on auto in the bios was just too much for my cheap ram, what ya guys think?
Yep, these PI9600's do run nice on this board, but they do need a little bump in volts when you o/c for blend stability I found. Not got much further than 1250 with my kit but not really pushed the vdimm that much - bit scared with a >£200 kit! What kind of vdimm have others tried btw?
Got my 775 backplate for my apogee XT today, and fitted it without a hitch. Load temps have plummeted by about 8°C and I think I'm finally gonna be able to get my rig stable at 4.5GHz again - woohoo! Seems like flow rate has suffered a little but I'm just happy I've got a block that's covering the whole IHS with space to spare.
If I get it stable at this speed, I would then probably assume temps caused the CPU instability and after the freshly built loop was running for a while and the weather warmed up, (particularly core 1 which was up to 9°C hotter than the rest under load) it just got less stable over time.
So far, I'm at 1.43125v (bios) at 9x500 and load temps are now around 67°C compared to 75°C with the XSPC delta block - next stop: lapping! :D
*edit - this is also after going back to the FB bios but still wasn't as stable until I installed the backplate.
So guys,
It's now time to replace my 4GB kit of OCZ Reaper 1150s (the ones that can't even make it to 1066 )... Just wanted some feedback on what 4GB kit would give good OCing results on a UD3R. I have an X3370 which has had short trips to 4.2, held back usually by the RAM. I was assuming that 2x2G would be the best option, but I am open to 4x1G recommendations.
I would have gone for LV Platinums/Blades, but... they're GONE:confused::shakes:
Serg, congrats on the baby. Now let's see some benching on the new board!
There are two problems with that, though... First, the DDR3 versions of this board don't clock nearly as nicely (read that earlier in this thread), and that would also cost more money...
Just looking for a kit that's solid for OCing and isn't bank-breaking.
How about the G.Skill 9600s? Model # F2-9600CL5D-4GBPI are $150 - if it's truly good RAM, I can pay that much...
Somthing I finished up at the begining of the month but have been busy with bfbc2 and havent posted.
:D

Buying :P
Don't wanna jump on the bandwagon but I agree with hoss, they're a little high for 24/7. VTT of 1.46 is about the absolute limit imo, but wouldn't want to run that 24/7, and vcore should be ~1.45 max with real good cooling, ideally h2o or better. I assume your CPU/NB skews and GTLs are not tuned? If so you could probably save a few volts if you tried tuning those. Otherwise I would back down a bit mate or your CPU could suffer.
oh... *boots BIOS to change vCore*
he guys Ive had a few of these blue screens over past month or so, usualy happens when computer is idle on desktop, here are a few shots of the error, do you think it has to do with my o/c? or something else
after running intel burn test i used core temp to monitor my temps and they reached 71..is that abit too high? Iam o/cd to 4.0 on my q9650
Going back to work on my Q9650 after months off.
Can someone link me or let me know what pages where I can find some templates for 4.5Ghz stable on a Q9650,
I think there were a couple of you who posted months ago a template like this (ie.radaja or andresserigio)
ill take any templates past 4.5ghz also, not sure it will be stable after 500FSB
THANKS
EDIT: DTV Dragon: 71 is not to high...but you will find with a Q9650 you might not be able to pass P95 blend when the temp gets past 65, also IBT is gonna stress your CPU way past what you will need it for.
thanx viper for the information...much appreciated!!

So far, me likey the Q9550 http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1083318
are there any templates for a q9650 and a ep45t-ud3lr board for 4.0 and over o/c?
Thanks guys for the templates :)
Hey.....the supply UD3P seems to drying up..my usual haunts don't have any (or UD3R's) that matter. Anyone knows why?? for such a great board!
Hello, I apologize for my English, but use google traslator ...
Gentilemtne tell me that I should set voltages to be rock solid at 4.3 ghz ...
this is my current configuration with 450 x 9, I get to 478 x 9!
how do I set up everything?

Anytime!
No, glad to see that has helped you though. What I meant was more Vtt voltage (CPU Termination), raise that a bit and then you possibly will be able to lower your vcore back down a bit
Yes, it is safe and with 8GB you may need more anyway, maybe 1.28-1.34. You are fine to use 1.4-1.45 if need be, but you should not need that at all.
Keep the Vtt amount under Vcore though
Good luck with the testing, hope it helps you get things stable
guys i have a question:confused: regarding memory in general with this board some people say that it is also undervolted by about 0.2v...
so does it mean that Radaja who posted his template where the RAM runs at 2.2v in reality only runs at 2v:shrug:
Hi , Im new here this is gonna be my favorite thread
I OC'd my E8400 to 3.91, but it reboots & crashes if I try to get it to 4.0GHz.
What can I plugin or change in the BIOS to get it to boot and run stable @>4.0GHz?
It was orthos stable (@3.91 for about 1/2 hour) before I canceled the stress test, I'd rather get it over the 4.0 barrier first and then stress it overnight.
Thanks

Does anyone have issues with the UD3R/P waking up from sleep mode when running 500FSB...at 467FSB no issue...now at 500FSB my computer goes constant reboot cycles when I wake up from sleep mode.
I have an issue with it waking up as well but, to be honest I've never had a motherboard do it correctly so I just turn it off.
guys a quick question...a month ago i installed a dedicated 9800GT ECO for PhysX my main card its a GTX285, now i realize that maybe both are working on x8 Speed at PCIE ?
i dont know if i did wrong, games with PhysX run amazing rest i dont see dif but on 3DM06 scores are lower now...
Cheers !
Sergio
Sergio,
That is correct. With two cards installed on a P45 chipset board they are both running at 8X, but there shouldn't be a big hit in performance though.
I used to be at 4.25ghz with 8.5x500, I went back to 4ghz 8x500 (back to air cooling) and could lower the voltage just a little bit, I think 0.25V or something and since then sleep has been working. Not sure which made sleep working again, lower multiplier or lower voltage, but having sleep working is actually quite nice.
Here is what the rig in my sig has been running at for almost a year now.

Hahaaa, I noticed my positions went down in the HWbot rankings - good work buddy!
Yallo all,
For as long as the Core architecture has been around, I'm still really a noob for tuning reference/GTLs. I need some help getting stable at at least 4.2 (I'm trying to hit 4.4, I should be able to make that,no?). I've made it to 4.2, but after ~8 passes, I get a BSOD in w7. I can fill in one of those profiles to let you know what my settings are now a bit later - let me know if you need to know anything else. Are there any good guides on how to tune reference voltages or GTLs? Just trying to figure this out...
-Paul
hey Iam hopeing someone can clarify this for me, rith now i have me cpu o/ed to 4.0,445x9
my new ram i have is 1600 mhz and now i have it running at 1424 , I have my freq latch at 333 and the system mem multiplier at 320b, now i want to get my ram up at least 1600 ,so when i set the sys mem multiplier to 400b it goes to 1780 mhz wich is way to high,I tried and it wont boot at that setting, so my question is how do i raise my ram to get it close to1600? I was wthinking about this my cpu multplier is at 9 right now, what if i cheange it to 8 and then it will be 445x8 3.56, and then i can raise my fsb to 500 so 500x8=4.0 does that make sense? am i loseing any performance by dropping cpu multiplier to an 8? and then in turn by raising my fsb it will be raising my ram mhz...correct? sorry i hope you guys can understand all this lol
The references are the GTLs on this board, cpu and mch. What skews are you using?
Sorry, my fault - the GTLs on the UD3P are just one setting called 'CPU reference', this changes with your termination voltage (VTT). By default, your CPU ref is 0.76 when VTT is also at default of 1.2v. For me, increasing CPU ref to 0.785 then increasing the VTT often gave best results, but occasionally needed to go up or down one on the CPU ref to get stable. This is different for everyone's configuration, but should still be around that region (i.e. one or two up or down from default). As for skews, increasing them as you increase FSB can yield better results at higher than ~475 FSB, seems even more crucial for benching at 530+ FSB. I found CPU being 50ps less than NB skew often gave better stability , but sometimes equal values worked better.
See this post for my settings. Instead of using 9x445fsb use 8x500fsb. Set freq latch to auto and mem multi to 3.2B. Of course you will/might have to tweak some of your voltages and refs as well, but the performance increase is worth it.
thank you thats the answer i was looking for It sounded right to me when i thought about it but wanted to make sure i was on the right track lol
to what voltages would i need to change or how high should i go, also not to sound stupid but what do you mean by ref's? here is my bios nowCode:******Motherboard Intelligent Tweaker (M.I.T.)******

what about my ICH I/O AND ICH CORE I have them set to normal or should i have them set to there values of 1.500 and 1.100 ? also anything else that i have set to normal?
Well, it has been fun!!!
:) I got a great deal on an X58 eVGA 3way board, a i7 920 D0, and some 1600mhz GSkill Pi sticks.
Time to sell the EP45-UD3R, q9550, and GSkill Pi 1100s. :)
I've treated myself to an i7 and Gigabye X58a with 3GB of OCZ 1333 ram at work. Will only be running stock cooling there but looking forward to getting a feel for the architecture and maybe push it a little, any ideas what to expect? (I know an i7 D0 on stock cooling is criminal)!
Also just won an EP45-Extreme for £72 as well, so I'm hoping to push the CPU a little further with that, although sorting out the cooling could be a challenge :).
If I do better with this board, I'll probably sell both my MIIF and UD3P and treat myself to an SSD or 2. I'm happy to settle with my 45nm setup for now and might have another stab at some 5GHz+ benching when I get the board in :)
Dragon, read this tread. http://www.overclock.net/intel-mothe...-ep45-ud3.html
tis funny, everytime they bring out a new bios, i try it, hoping my memory problem will be fixed...but no...let down every time :( :p:
It's either motherboard or CPU memory controller, all i know is that I can't run 1200 on ram no matter what settings i do. Thought it was a ram problem, then i got OCZ blades...then i was like, oh...the same problem exactly. Can happily do 4ghz 500fsb and ram running 1000mhz, either 4gb or 8gb, but i can't do 1100 or anything on the ram regardless of FSB, strapping, CPU speed, timings, voltages etc.
Can someone possibly shed a lil light on this....with these settings I can boot into Windows, and even fiddle around here and there. Yet sometimes it freezes or some apps wont open. Im basically green at all of this yet I do have a stable overclock @3.833 24/7 (passes all of the normal stress tests that I have seen most use). Thanks for any help!!The memory used is Gskill 1200 Tridents if that helps...Code:******Motherboard Intelligent Tweaker (M.I.T.)******

alright my vtt is 1.46 and ive for the termination set to .91 which is exactly what it should be at accoring to that cheat that person had made awhile ago I forget his name... trd is set to 10 so its pritty loose.. idk im out of things to try to spablize this puppy at anything lower... fun thing is my m2f is way worse with this chip.
Are your tridents up to runing 1267MHz? Memtest may pass but prime might fail if it's near the memory's limits. Static TRead should be at least 8, 7 is too low, raising it to 10 will ease the NB a little.
See what these adjustments do and report back ;)
+1 on the ram speed but PL 7 itself shouldnt really be an issue on 2.66D, in fact he can probably even run the extreme memory profile given enough mch and testing.
well I took the advice of the 3 of you and played with a few of the memory choices and have been able to at least get into windows with various speeds (800*8, 475*8.5 etc etc...memory 1267, 1000(4-4-4-12) and a few others.....)I just gotta get comfortable with what I want I guess then tinker with that. My main question should have been the Ref's....Im not quite sure I follow how to set them properly.
I have read some previous posts on how to calculate them and still not sure if Im doing it correctly
^ those are good hints! :) ^
I recetly found out that I've actually got a bent pin on my UD3P which isn't raised enough to make proper contact. It was one of the many 'vcc' pins on the pinout (top right pin in the socket), and I wondered if this might be why I started getting weird stability issues. I did a little mod by 'glooping' a ball of condictive pen ink onto the corner of the CPU and hooking it up to the affected pin. This has actually helped, and am now able to use much lower VTT, plus tuning the CPU ref seems more effective too.
I guess this is all a bit late now that I'm getting an EP45-extreme. Anyone had any experience with it? My bargain find should be on it's way here soon, really looking forward to giving it a whirl.
hey guys i have a prob. I ried changeing my cpu multip;ier from a 9 back down to 8 so i can work with my ram abit better, anyways I left all setting as is but changed cpu mult to 8 and mt puter did not want to boot! I even lowered the fsb so there was only a modest 3.5 o/c and still same thing just tried to boot a few times and then second bios kicked in i guess and set it all to standard 3.0 for cpu , wouldnt you think that it should at least boot up cause all i did was change that one multiplier? also my ram is rated for 1600 but do you think if i set strap to 400b then ram will be 1780 mhz would it work ? my timmings are 7,8,7,24, should i loosen them up maybe? or is 1780 just way to high? also my mch core is 1.30 is that way to low for 8 gig ram and trying to get higher freq? sorry for all the questions, what i realy would like is change mult to 8 then increase fsb to 500 to get my 4.0 o/c and then the other good thing is my ram will be right at 1600!! any suggestions or hints?
