First I agree with you about the Native Crap-O-La it was ALMOST bad as Intel's "So fast it's not fair" BS when Athlon64 was Kicking the crap out of P4. The Native talk looked sad because here was the same folks using two Sockets to combat one so called inferior MCM. We know ONE MCM was faster than 4 X 4 in most cases, used less power, put off less heat and just a better deal in most folks' opinion.

Crap-O-La marketing part #2 It was marketed towards something called "Enthusiast Gamers". In others words, folks with more money than Brains. It amazes me that some so call Computer Savvy folks can be so blind at times. There aren't any games made to take advantage of anything like 4 X 4.

Bluetooth is one of those guys who is credible and who got the one of the 1st GA RD790 mobos to test.So this is very good news coming from them!

Note he says air cooling is used and it's a X4 ,so all of the cores must work at the same clock since something is wrong(bios?) and they can't use separate PLLs to clock the cores individually.

If the 3GHz Barkie did break 30K on 3DBung-O-Marks, big deal since that doesn't translate or carry-over to any real-world Game/s or Apps. Once we see the HT 3.0 capable chipsets and Phenom cores mature then we will have an even better indication of the performance of this core design in the consumer market but for now the initial release is Barcelona in the enterprise market.

So Gary said that the jump in performances between B00s from May to B02s is very large(he saw the time in SPi 1m test decreased by 26s from B00's score-quite a lot).This right there invalidates the coolaler's forum topic(which BTW is gone-at least the pictures of the K10 ES results)

Also he said he saw a visible improvement within the last two weeks ,so this means that a lot of beta silicon chips floats at Far East's mobo factories.

nay, the pentium d series is MCM, including the EE versions. native should definitely scale a little better, the early k10 benchmarks already show a scaling improvement in cinebench (~6x performance improvement going from 1-8 cores for xeon vs ~7x for k10)

It depends how you define native dualcore. X2 is just 2 totally seperate cores with a shared SRI thats basicly its northbridge. In "nativeness" you would have C2D>CD>X2>Presler>Smithfield.

Also native doesnt mean it scales better by default. A C2D doesnt scale superiour to X2. Tho its just as more native to K8, that K8 is to P4.

Barcelona will connect to an L3 the same same way. Last thing I saw said there wasn't any Core to Core, L1 to L1 or even L2 to L2 interconnections. Each are separate Core that can run without the rest of the system or cores. You can't split a C2D like that. Sure two Cores that make up C2Q is different.

If K10 is faster and IHMO it will be in some apps, it will be faster because of its Core Improvements, not some Native BS. Singled threaded app/s should bare this out. These type apps will shoe the improvement made to each core. The problem is AMD's marketing folks would rather talk Catch Prases since that easier to grasp. IMHO, that's disrespecting the folks who love them. That's like saying our fans are Dumb so let's give them something simple.

Second,latest informations suggest 2.2Ghz at launch,not 2.4Ghz.The higher clocked versions for servers are due out in late October.

2.4 at launch is certainly better than 2.0 at launch, so I'm happy :)

Unfortunately that probably won't be enough to beat a 3.33ghz yorkfield :(

You need to understand that there will be huge demand for these parts in server market and AMD must supply enough(not only for 2.4Ghz,for all K10 models)
So the lower clock scenario is more likely since most will want the best perf./watt/$ K10 can offer ,and it will surely be the 2Ghz version.No doubt about the fact that 2.4Ghz would look much better if it is available in 6 days(which it could btw,we simply don't know ATM)

Goodman...specfp_rates is not floating point as such. Its heavy memory bandwidth floating point bench. If it should beat it in floatingpoint it would be specfp without rates on.

K8 today already beat Core 2 in SpecFp_rates. But Core 2 beats K8 in specfp.

Its the same reason AMD only uses a single K8 against a quadcore K10 instead of a dual K8s. It could end up embarrasing with specfp_rates due to the dual K8s NUMA/extra bandwidth.

The rate benchmarks test a fully loaded system, and the non-rate benchmarks (e.g. specfp) are essentially single-threaded, using only one of the cores. If you don't have enough memory bandwith to keep all of the cores fed, it really hurts your rate score.

Nobody really know what the performace numbers will be when you combine all three components working together with 790 chipset, multi-gpu, with quad phenom. I strongly think AMD got something up its sleeve and it will be a software to hardware optimization.

Only possibility is 3DMark06 with lower resolutions than default. We will find the truth soon (someone save that The Inquirer article).

look at the CPU situation logically, if they bench 3d01 only really 1 CPU is being used as the bench is not multi threaded, now i know dual cores seemed to do better so it may use 2 of the 4 cores but the performance is still going to be a little lower. I actually feel 790 and a 6400+@3.6GHZ would be faster than a Phenom for 01 but only tests will show.

Now moving to TRi crossfire as that is what Theo saw, the fact is he did not report it but we have seen enough pics on the net since to show that there had got to have been 3 cards in that system...the issue for us is we don't know if the 3 cards had a single or had dual GPU's on each card.

CrossfireX has to be massively exciting for gamers the world over as they have known for quite a while money is better spent on video cards than getting the fastest CPU and with the possibility of running 4 cards linked up for massive res and huge frame rates this has to be truly mouth watering to them...i know it is for me and I hardly play any games ;)

In the end though all you guys doing math to try and disprove or those who are trying to prove whether this 30k run is true remember this...you have not yet got all the info you need, so all you are doing is speculating.

And lets be honest the degree of accuracy while speculation is in play could be miles off.

I will say this to finish, I see a new era of multi GPU's over hugely fast CPU's coming, ATI have Crossfire X and NV has TRI SLI all ready to go. I feel we will see some massive scores being posted real soon and they will all be using 3 and 4 card setups.

Now if NV are reading this I have a nice 4x4 system and 4xGTX's here....please show us how to align the bridges for TRI and quad SLI so we can start showing just what improvements are really made with multiple cards.

I ALSO have to add:

ATI haven't YET MANAGED to overclock it's CrossFire config SINCE the 1900s and you think that they can Overclock the Tri-Fire?.......and IF yes, well ONLY THEM could Overclock it a bit, thing that DOESN'T COUNT if people out there CAN'T do the SAME.......No?..... ;)

NVIDIA on the other hand, encoded PROBLEMS running those dual 7950s in SLI mod......Do you think that they can easily run THREE of them?.......It's JUST the begining so everything will NOT be as we want/imagine to.... ;)

EDIT: We have a TRI-SLI system here......do you think that it works as it should be?.... ;)

SO what do we have?......CPU POWER with TWO VGAs.......for now......so ......GIMME PLEASE an X38 chipset with SLI SUPPORT......Period...... :D :p:
