zsamz,i dont have a dmm right now,so say im using vtt of 1.15 what would you suggest i should set in bios(to get 60-63%)to start with?ranges for trial and error that i can use for all three GTL's,the two cpu's and the NB?
thanks.
500 FSB would be awesome!
Alas I m using non-QVL RAM and someone else from XS told me it might be D9GKX.
Any much higher-430 to 440ish and I fail memtest #5 right at the very end of test even with PL 8 and NB volts up to 1.5:eek:
Is this indicative of having to master the read delay Pulls?
I had fun with my old chip:D I am currently running an E8500.
The chip in my Sig is actually a Cedar Mill Die which is half a late-Gen Pentium Dual-Core or a Presler Die. The 6X1 series was the one with 2MB of cache instead of 1MB like Prescott so in other words I actually had a chance playing Crysis on high:p:
The 631 model in specific Set the world record for Raw Speed Clocking in at about 8.1GHZ:shocked: on LN2 so I thought-why not-maybe I could pull off 5.0 on Air?Nope. But Max 4.5GHz@1.45V/15=301FSB*3.34=1003MHz DDR
PL 3 wasn't bad either-I got 50% OC! I kicked in the full 2:1 A couple times for 1200 and got R-9512 and t-68.3 with that setup but It wasn't really Gaming/Prime stable and I was already at the Chip's FSB wall anyway. It was swell but the swelling's gone down:p: So I got E 8500!
I am inspired now to see if I really can go higher with my E 8500/RAM/Mobo Combo when I have some free time.

Hello,
I have some problems whit this mainboard (bios D317) and an Intel q9550 c1
I can't go to 400fbs even if i downclock the cpu to 2800 (400 x 7) whit default vcore
I have tried some setting but nothing worked (vtt, vnb)
prime95 (blend) give me error in few seconds, sometimes even at default speed at 333fbs... my ram are ok (gskill hz ddr800)
Any advice?
using the 5:6-333/800 divider with this board,on pl7 where does the fsb top out at?can it go say 560fsb pl7 w/5:6?
well i just got 540x8 ddr1300 5:6 pl8 stable,so i tried pl7 and it seems stable.thats why i asked because when i was at pl8,i didnt want to try pl7 till i found out but i couldnt wait.i left the aggressive things on auto for pl7.now im going to lower the vcore and try setting it to more aggressive.

push a little more i'm sure u can break 12k:yepp:
im trying.i got to say this is a sweet board.
My UT P35 is great on open bench, but I decided to put it in my main system in place of the DK X48 and now 500x8 with RAM at 600 (my 24/7 settings previously) doesn't even want to past Memtest. My whole reason for swapping was seeing 500FSB with PL7 and More Aggressive being stable, and I benched with those settings and it seemed fine, but not so in the case with all my hardware. I thought something was up with the DK X48 not being able to use More Aggressive with 500x8 5:6 PL8, but I guess it wasn't the board, but something with my loads of components.

The site at edgeofstability is working again!
It shows the voltage measurement points. Yayyyyy :)
Surprised that those links weren't brought up on the 1st page of the thread... So here they are:
VDIMM measurement points
NB voltage, CPU VTT & CPU PLL measurement points
NB GTL & CPU GTL measurement points
ok,
now i have some stability whit vtt at 1,31v and vnb at 1,41v (cpu @ 3400 400 x 8,5); gtl settings at default (disable).
prime95 blend seems ok (2 hours test); vtt e vnb at stock give me error in few seconds.
prime95 small fft has rebooted my machine after about 30 min but i was testing the cpu whit a downvolt at 1,15v (cpu vid is 1,225) ... i was expecting a core error not a reboot
so now i'm testing whit default vcore and i have upped the vtt to 1,33v;
my ram (G.Skill PC2-6400 HZ Series) are set to 800 4-4-4-12 whit 2.0v and this is stock speed for these ram.
a little help please.according to the edgeofstability chart,if i set my vtt at 1.30 then i should start my fiddling at 89/90 for cpu and 89 for NB correct?if so why are everyone else's thet ive seen in the 60/70 range?say i set vtt at 1.30 and set the gtl's at 68/70/68,then how would i calculate what the % of vtt would be(Example 63% or 67% of vtt)im only asking cause it seems to be different from the asus P45 boards and the UD3P boards, calculating it that is.if i set it to disabled with vtt at 1.30 what does the board set the actual nimbers to and the %? sorry if im asking too much here but ive not been able to get a straight answer just links for charts and how to measure but thats not what im trying to find out.hopefully someone understands what im trying to ask.
Looking over at the Rampage Formula thread, I wonder if we can't get something similar going here to request for DFI to make a new BIOS for the LT/UT P35 with added options like drive strength, DLL Skew Models and CPU clock skewing.
zsamz,i understand that i have to play with them and i understand the chart are a base but my question was what are the formula for calculating the values. like in this thread?
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=202292.
zsamz how did you come to this %?
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=4992
does anyone understand what i am asking?what is throwing me off is when you turn on the gtl's it start at 110/110/110.here is an example, say i set 1.30vtt and i set 78/78/68 and then someone ask me what percenage of vtt i set my cpu 0/2 and 0/3 to.and what % i set my NB gtl's to.how would i calculate it on this board so i could answer them? i can do this with the UD3P and the asus MIIF and the P5Q-deluxe.but no one seems to have an answer for this question pertaining to this board.they just say"you have to mess with them to find the right setting" or "here is a chart" or "get your DMM out and test it to find the right value".i understand all this but again that is not what im asking?
they put drive strength in an x48 bios then they removed it for fear of users will kill ram
skews would be nice but i doubt they gonna do it since they rather sell you a ut p45
i just use it as a base
the gtl setting that gets me stable @ the lowest cpu volts is best for me
gtl settings dont need to be exact with a dual core
but with a quad it needs to be more precise
again im not asking how to adjust gtl's,i know very well how that is done.i am asking how are gtl values calculated on this particular board, using the actual values that the board gives(110/110/110) and calculating them into percentages(%63/%67/%67)of vtt.
Ok radaja, I think what you are looking for are tables like these --
EdgeOfStability - CPU & NB GTL Default Settings
Anandtech review of DFI UT P35-T2R - page 12: Quad-core CPU VTT/GTL Tables (do continue to read pp.13 & pp.14)
HOWEVER, the figures of those tables were sampled from just a couple of boards back then. Keep in mind that your voltages may vary! That's why it's always recommended that you measure your own board to get a much better idea. Although, those tables should serve a good starting point for you, who come from a different calculation methodology. And do study what the BIOS settings translate into as they don't mean direct % or absolute voltage values. There will be a lot of try and error so you need to be a little persistent to master your own board. Good luck.
I think we need updated tables for 45nm CPUS, those are all for 65nm.
well i wasnt able to lower the volts very much (one notch vcore and vdimm) but its good enough for me and its stable.

cmmon radaja you can do better
off topic for this question. i started having strange post codes before the usual "C1", like "1C" "1U" and more often ".88.". i spoke with dfi tech support and was informed that this could be a corrupt bios or a bad power supply and ".88." is an LED segment check. i noticed these post codes after putting in a new corsair 850tx but the codes could have started happening before this new PSU. i tried a PSU from a different system, where the same LP would go to "C1" and no other post codes would show before the "C1". the PSU from the other system would allow my system to boot a normal "C1". so i put the corsair 850tx in the other system and had the same unusual post codes before the normal "C1". today i got a replacement antec PSU and am getting the same strange post codes before the "C1". ??? does it appear that i need to RMA the new power supplies, corsair and antec, can i fix this with a bios flash, or do i need to RMA my motherboard? thanks in advance.
You must have gotten a golden board Radaja, I don't know how you're running PL7@540FSB and memory at 650MHz with your vMCH at 1.50V.
Is performance level at same fbs and ram divider equal for p35 and p45? Because it seems that many p45 have dafault (auto) pl at > 9...
The auto performance level for this board seems very aggressive to me (so you have to raise the vnb to gain fsb mhz)
Yes it does run the PL one level faster than the P45. The downside of that off course is that it will not clock the FSB as high as the P45, or clock the FSB as high with all 4 ramslots populated.
By the way, PL at 7 is the defult PL when running on the 5:6 divider with the P35.
any one else using bios 9/19? i had to flash to it today again now that ive installed my 9650 cause after two fresh installs xp and vista in device manager under processor it just showed unknown device.but with bios 9/19 it works fine.only problem is that everest wont show nb and pwm temps or voltages such as vtt vnb.any one else experience this?
yep,i guess its better to be able to read temps and volt than to have cpuz say Q9650.right now im on 5/02 again and it all good exceptdevice manager just say intel cpu and cpuz and everest show intel processor 3.00Mhz instead of Q9650.but at least its better after flashing then reflashing bios cause now it intel processor and not unknown device.

http://i41.tinypic.com/2vhz0ck.jpg
has anyone succesfully gotten a 45nm quad core to boot at 500fsb with this board?if so could you post what was needed(vNB,vtt)
I think the lack of a CPU Clock Skew option is hindering the board with the Yorkfields and 500FSB.
never tried with my xeon, but i managed to do this with my 8400 and last bios, before packaging the board and ship it to the new owner.

Hey Radaja
I just flipped out my q6600 @ 3600 for 9650 @ 3600 , now im trying to push it
to 4.0 at a vcore of 1.300 vtt of 1.3400 nbv to 1.52 and when i set the gtl ref to disabled " board will boot but fails quick on prime , if i set to 66 66 66 66 board wont even boot , cant you help me a bit wit voltage settings
ok I see a lil voltage problem here , when i set it vcore to 1.360 it comes in on cpu -z as 1.322 to 1.344 and fluxes back and forth , im prime at this then start lowering down my vtt , wish i could figure out the gtl s then im sure i could bring the voltage down , should i be using special add voltage , i never needed with my q6600 , man for a low vid 1.2500v this sucker needs alot of juice and runs a bit warm in prime 40 c but it still runs like 10 -14c cooler than my q6600 , damnnn core 2 just failed after 10 min

the real7,hey try this for 450x9.set vcore to 1.381 in bios leave special add on auto.if it boots and you can run prime95 for at least 15 minutes then try lowering vcore.if it just primes for a few min, then try adjusting the gtl's one at a time and write down how much longer it primes until you find what your board and cpu like.this is just a starting point.let me know how it goes

thanks for the bios settings at i4memory.
anyway to push high fsb i'd give 1.75 pll and 1.40 vtt ;)
just a try, dunno if could work, but voltages are not risky
thanks will give it a go
Well it's been around >1yr since I packed away my DFI UT P35-T2R. But now I have dusted it off, flashed to 09/19/08 bios and plucked in my first of five E8600 Q820A599 cpus with 0537 serial number. Too lazy to do fresh WinXP install, so grabbed my DFI DK X48-T2RSB Plus WinXP install SATA drive and just used that :)
Haven't tried 32M stability, but started off with max FSB testing for 1M and cpuz validation. Ended up around 585FSB easy 1M, 590FSB finished but BSOD before I could save screenshot and 606FSB was best I could do for validation.

So nice to see this old board still getting attention, and with the price drops on it (in the US at least) it's a great buy. I just wish I could get it stable@500x8 5:6 PL7 on my 24/7 box :(
eva2000,its great to see you've brought you UT-P35 out of retirement.thanks for the bios settings.im curious as to how setfsb works?i have downloaded it and have the right clockgen code(i think)but not sure how it works.maybe you could post some steps? thanks
Ok im not a noob but noob to my board with a Q6600 in it. I have overclocked my E7200@3.8ghz prime, occt, and orthos stable. I am totally lost with this quad. I want to take it to 3.6ghz or higher if possible. I will be cooling with the tuniq tower.
Any help would be aprreciated. I just looking for maybe some voltage or bios setting just to get me started. Whether or not too enable Vdroop or the what other cpu options in bios to enable.
I think this is my last post to this thread. I'm losing my nerves and thinking to throw entire rig out of the window. Did a fresh install on 64bit Vista Ultimate and still I am unstable with 1:1 divider. With 2:3 divider my memory can run memtest as long as I can wait. With 500fsb and 1:1 divider only couple % and I see errors. Here is my bios template. I'd be forever thankful if someone could find a solution for my problem.

I have tried as high as 1.65V for NB and it only slightly makes it more stable. Im out of ideas, but as this problem has been with me quite long and I've had time to think it. Could it be the NB as the memory controller is there and it doesn't want to run my memory with 1:1 divider and with 2:3 it works great. Should I change mobo to something else because my goal was to get my E8200 @ 4ghz 24/7 and with this board I cant do it. ANY ADVICE AND HELPING WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! I HAVE FAITH IN YOU PROS!!!!
yep at 540fsb for me i could use pl7 with e/a/e/e/e and e/a/a/e/e but one i went to 542 i had trouble with stability but once i went to pl8 with the same pull ins it was better
hey everyone i currently have a E6300 at 3ghz 7X430
heres some screenies
http://img.techpowerup.org/090307/Capture.jpg
any advice how to maximize my overclock/make more efficent
Some E6300s won't hit 500FSB, I know mine won't no matter what board I slap it in. 490 is about its wall.
i tried 500X7 that didnt even boot at 1.46V with NB core at 1.50V and 1.43 cpu Vtt
any other sugestions?
my chipset and VRM are around 30 C if thats good with my current overclock from above
strange...a made lots of try with e8400 + 1,75v PLL and no problem...my cpu still rock hard reaching 655mhz fsb @ air on giga ud3r :DQuote:
you wrong i already degraded my e685o with 1.65pll
I did some changes to my template, suggested on DFI forums. Still im not able to get this stable.... Why is it with 2:3 divider Performance level 5 on auto and with 1:1 it is 9 on auto? Also memset shows difference in tREF with 2:3 it is 3120 and with 1:1 it is 2500. Thanks!
try turning off all cpu features off except for multi-processing
yup lucas is right
you cant overclock with all them options enabled

obviously i keep it only thetime necessary to boot, s-pi 1m ;)
hey if anyone is interested im thinking of selling my DFI UT-P35-T2R that i bought three weeks ago.its in perfect condition,i only used for two weeks, none of the accessories were ever used(still sealed in original packaging).im trying to get some money together to buy another 9650.let me know if your interested
radaja i suggest u keep it as a backup
those gigabut boards not reliable in my book
Anyone here ever gotten post code 88?
I can't seem to get out of it, I did a 6 hour CMOS clear and still nothing.
Thanks
hello guys, need help with this mobo
in this week ill have this t2r p35 + q6600 on mail.. id like to know whats best bios for this mb with 65nm quads and 45nm c2d (id like to try q6600 and e8400), which OS you choose (xp, vista 32/64, w7?)
thanks for advice
and what will be great? some bios setup exactly with those cpus (q6600 g0 slacr or e8400), hope youll help me, thanks
zsamz, thank u for giving me a reply on this. i also found these post codes at clunk's. spoke to dfi tech support and i'm rma'ing.
Code:http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/hardware/3203-dfi-bios-guide-intel-chipset-based-motherboards.html#post12434
i do have another question, possibly you or another member could help me with.
clunk's also has voltage measures for the x38 which is similar to the p35,
question is: at what place do i put the red/black leads on my multimeter to correspond to the mobo vDimm voltage points? is it just as simple as putting the leads red/black to the plus/minus on the mobo? like red-lead = mobo-plus and vice-versa.Code:http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/hardware/4172-dfi-x38-x48-voltage-measuring-points.html#post14972
hopefully i explained this correctly.thanks in advance.
P.S.= i understand that if i do this and fry my mobo i'm the one to blame. hopefully i won't though.:shocked:
hi, i noticed the "88" happening to me since about a month ago.
why this happens
spoke with dfi support and was told:
1. Memory.
2. Power supply.
3. Bios corrupted.
4. Motherboard failing.
tried different ram, different psu and different bios'es . nothing got rid of the "88".
try this link for more info about dfi post codes:
hope this helped.Code:http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/hardware/3203-dfi-bios-guide-intel-chipset-based-motherboards.html#post12434
need some help with my q9650 and my gtl can some one give me reference of were i should be at 1.42 vtt and a 1.36 cpu vcore ?
so the gtl ref should look something like this 61 61 64 and raise up to most
63 63 67 for a vtt of 1.42 sorry if im asking again its just im used to the q6600 running 105 106 110 , thanks dude for your help im try it out :) hope it holds , hate having it disabled and voltage so high
The string of three gtl numbers must be adjusted so a Measured GTL is a [specific]% of Vtt. Measurements must be taken.
The Three numbers more closely resemble the actual % [with 45 nM only]but are not exact and actual increments will change anyway as you use change Vtt.Do you have a meter?
BTW I really dig that SIG you're running! It looks pretty sweet especially with that RAID setup and all:up:
I have a really good fluke meter but i wouldnt even no where to start in testing the vtt , but what your saying im guessing is if i know the exact vtt then the 3 gtls can be adjusted specific to the it , but lets say im taken a guess and the vtt is slighty off from what im reading in smartguardian , would 61 61 63 be a good place to start , and just raise the values of the gtls everytime my prime falls to lets say a safe point maxing at 67 67 69 ?
45m proc geesh lol ... thanks on the compliment of my signature
the cheapest part of my system that gave the biggest notice where those two western digital drives "wd64000aaks" in raid man do they fly . I saw you have that 4870 good choice , if i had a chance i go back and get the 4870 :) 4870 x2 was a bit of overkill , and a power hog for sure its crippling my hx620 a bit and giving my a nasty vdroop on my vcore , that i didnt have with my 9800 gx2 :scope:
Check out edgeofstability.com
That's where you can find the measurement points and really get cooking! The readings in SG can be a little off-proper readings are crucial for good GTL tuning but if you get the right settings anyway then WOOT. The only SG part that is rather accurate seems to be the Vcore.
You might also think about going lower to 53 53 54 ish-it really depends on your board and VTT. Going lower-but w/in 63-61%Vtt- can duck under the ringback noise created by higher Vtt and higher MHz since the Intel GTL spec tops out at 400FSB.
Oh BTW @ Zsamz I have gotten up to 1162/2.4=484*9=4.356GHz Semi-stable as of last week. You inspired this! I can Game but I get random reboots when in desktop idle:down: I have SET FSB up to 500 in windows just long enough to get an Everest bench 10K+ read/Write 9500 Copy t51.8nS Just over 10S in super Pi 1M like 10.014 IDK on diff PC right now. 5-5-5-15@2.26V Trfc 44 Trd8 all phases pulled in to 7
Vcore 1.36V-load droop to 1.35V Vdroop disabled Vtt1.385V 53-53-54 GTL Vnb 1.45V
IBT is too hot with current cooling so IDK about qualifying with that right now:down: Just going for max Gaming stable for curiosity's sake without using too much volts.
I have hit 4.4GHz Max with 9.5 Multi on 463 FSB on same Volts if it helps.
*SIGH* the loss in Bandwidth between 422*2.4=1013(current) and about 463*2.4=1111 due to Trd and CAS change has driven me to Go Big or Go Home LOL so it has been fun pushin' the envelope. That's what it's all about right:yepp:
I have played Crysis and HL2 DM at 484 so far but I get a reboot during Prime95 before first loop is done though :down:This is after 4-6 hours Memtest86+ ver.2.01 stable and Zero problems actually booting into windows:shrug:
Any suggestions Zsamz or anyone? Do I need to give more Bios settings?
This board is awesome!
Thrmionicshaman
start by bumpin nb volt by 0.2-0.5v i'm @ 1.52 24/7 n make sure you keep nb cool
set to a lesser memory settin ex:aggressive /more aggressive
play with gtl settings +-2
btw if you add a second fan to your 9500 you will get better temps i had modded mine with a higher cfm 120mm fan
Thanks for the tips I will add a little more NBvolts and see if I can get more airflow however I have my 9500 mounted with vertical airflow since I haven't yet buckled down and cut out a small space on NB HS. I forgot to mention I already have the More aggressive setting on both channels and clock crossing.
That seemed to help get me this high so far. My NB temp is OK in Windows so far with that Tricool blowing on it but I miss my 110 CFM Scythe-blade broke due to operator error. I am prepared to get a better fan if necessary-Spring is here and with it comes higher ambient in California.
Are you saying the reboots might be rooted in NB issues? 'Cause if they are I will use a hammer on NB-hammers always work for P35 J/K :ROTF:
Seriously though:shrug:
Okay guys, after testing couple of variatons of FSBs, multipliers and dividers I think that NB doesn't like me at all. Im stable at 444x8 but not with 500x8, I've tried as high as 1.57 vNB. Could my NB degrade? When I got this board I used insane voltages to NB, I even used 1.63 vNB. Could it have degraded my NB? With 1.57vNB my load temps to NB are 54 and at idle about 50. How hot can I keep it?
So you have aftermarket NB cooler? Should I use transpiper? imho it doesnt help much, but I have 60mm fan that I could put to NB heatsink to move some air through it, ill test that. Could too hot NB cause instability?
Should I change TIM between the NB and heatsink?
E: Rotated Xigmatek so it cools NB a little too, temps dropped from 52 to 42, and I think this works better now.
anyone have any idea why my board wont oc at all. if i put the cpu vid at 1.3 or higher it wont boot at all. if i raise the fsb at all it wont boot either. i cant even set it at 280 fsb. the pc will just sit starting and shuting off after about 3 min. i had another p35 tr2 about a year ago and it worked fine. i had this q6600 oced at right over 4 ghz on phase but now i have a new p35 tr2 and its on water but i cant change anything in bios and have it boot. i flashed to the newest bios with still no luck. another thing cpz says my multi is at 6 under system properties it has it right (2.4 ghz). any ideas?
Looks like my P35 died somehow. I had it on open air benching just last week and it was fine, and it has been off since then. Decided to put it into PC #2 in place of the DK X48, got everything connected, powered it on and...nothing. The POST code LEDs don't even light up. Cleared CMOS, disconnected everything, used a different CPU, blah blah. It's a goner. Time for an RMA I suppose.
thats a shame.sorry to hear Gen-An.lets just hope you get a golden board in return:D
i think mines due for a rma also it wont ever run stock settings. for some reason the muti stays at 6 and you also cant change the boot devices order.
tried 3 times with 3 different bios all the same.
I've got an off the wall question... should I take a look at a dual-core processor, with this board? I've had quads in it since I first bought the board and haven't looked back. I'm thinking about giving a 8600 a shot and see if I can get to the 4.6-4.8GHz area.
What's your thoughts... thanks in advance.
I think this board will scream with an E8x00 CPU. I'm still waiting for my RMA replacement :(
