Fudge, I think I just topped out my PSU *grumbles*
Tried every adjusting every setting and no joy. BSOD after it tries to load windows - not even enough power to get the loading bar going :rofl:
Checked PSU calculator and if it's 90% load or there about it's went over what my PSU is capable of >.<
Quick - someone go grab me at least 850W so I can see how stupidly low I can get 19x220 to boot stable at :P

@Brad, the only way that I managed to get past 222Bclk on these mobos is to use SetFSB in Windows, by doing this I managed to get Bclk up to 228MHz, but you need to do it 1MHz at a time, otherwise it locks up, or at least this is what happened with my system..
@Bex, you're not the only one with a failing PSU, my Be Quiet 850w has started making a hissing sound when the system isn't even on, and when I run any stress testing apps, like Prime, LinX, AS SSD and HDTune, the PSU starts making a squealing sound, almost like a ZX Spectrum loading up a cassette, so I have to send it back to Scan after the new year, hopefully they give me a replacement PSU.
Tried 1.425V and 200*20 does seem to be holding, supprised you need that much more voltage just for 200Bclk, also 200*21 seems to be working so far..Quote:

^ hello it will not have any greater impact on performance ,but u can test & play with it ............. by the way 88 is good enough ............... its in advanced memory settings menu & u have to set it manually for every channel

So a bit of an update, my Extreme motherboard performs better than my UD5.

Tried installing that latest beta (f9p) and it says something like bios file doesnt check or whatever it is and wont flash. Any ideas to try it out.
yes on ud5 for now the f9p is not working..
Its bad bios or corrupted .............. ,never flash F9P unless it gets updated

I get random reboots idling above 185 bclk with EIST enabled.
Tried everything from 21*186 to 21*196 to 20*200. I pass 20x linx passes stable in all setups, but keep rebooting randomly while surfing with firefox or typing in notepad...
I m pretty sure its EIST. Even tried with c1e disable, same result. No reboots with EIST disabled but feeling guilty using 4+GHz to surf.
Anyone here with similar problems and maybe a suggestion on how to get past it without disabling EIST?
Is there voltage other than the cpu/vcore that may need increasing so that eist works properly?

edit: if it is of any use, i dont need to mess with DVID to get the 21*185/eist enabled and workind setup. Just vcore normal seems to be enough, but i need to increase DVID for linx stable setups above 185bclock...
Anyone had any onboard sound / LAN issues with the UD4P? It's also developed a sickening short on BIOS alterations - reboots then shorts out but remains giving power to the mobo and won't stop until I cut the power. Got a new PSU after the other 1 died and it's still doing the same thing.

currently got overclock of 4.0 on i7 920 do stepping - vcore 1.28 - idles with my akasa nero on 44 load about 68 - with the h50 it was about 39 idle and 60 under load.will tinker some more.thank in advance for any help given,

First you need to try max BCLK that your combination of board/cpu can achieve. Lower your CPU multiplier to 15x and push BCLK.
Best driver for Extreme? Haven't been on the hardwares for a long time.

First of all, you might need lower temperatures than you have now to achieve such high uncore clocks. Secondly, 4GHz is near the limit for the ambient temps, so no wonder it doesn't boot up. And the last point, sure, it helps the memory bandwidth a bit, but getting higher CPU clocks would still give you a bigger performance boost.Quote:

It is just "incompatible" settings (bads or insufficient voltages) ? , do it overheat....

Well, keep trying, it's possible if the IMC of your CPU is decent.
Try with some smaller increments perhaps... Try to get to 3600 first.

Really? What's the problem, I'm finding F10 ok. Needed a touch more vcore than F8, but stable enough.
maybe just me but i get random BSOD/freezez about some stuff ( not any error code) at voltages that should be fine (having dynamic vore to 1.29V, 1.335 VTT, 1,64DIMM on 4ghz)

only want to flash it as i have the multiple boot issue and also the sleepmode where it wont come out of sleep mode when i hit mouse or keyboard, think i know why it does this,lol, is i run the comp at optimised settings,no overclock i dont have boot or sleepmode issues,as soon as i start overclocking they come back, must be able to overclock without these issues, will a bios update solve it,any help would be great and thanx again for your time helping me with the other,you are a star.

Ram frequency must be exactly uncore clock / 2.
For example : if you want to run your RAM at 2Ghz, your uncore (uclk) have to run at 4Ghz....
I didn't found settings letting me running my i920 at 4Ghz uncore for the moment... But I'm running my i 920 @ 4Ghz, with my 3x2G ram at 1600Mhz, 7-7-7-20, and all is very stable, so I'm pretty happy. :) (Moreover, this board/cpu are made to play triple channel RAM modules.)

On my system, a too high Vcore makes my system getting 85/90 °C and BSOD. So I've found a stable config by reducing my VCore. For the RAM I know my GSkills need 1,65V. In the bios you only find Vdram 1,66 so choose it, the real voltage is a little under the bios value. And try relax your ram timings if you have problems. (even to 10-10-10-34) If with relaxed RAM timings you are not stable, so your pb is your CPU settings...Quote:

I got the cpu reasonably stable@ 21x191- it seems to prefer the 21x multi - hates 20x200 surprisingly as i had it like this at first and it was fine for 1 week until i put the dual set in,was ok and managed to run thisset '1900mhz 8-8-8-24 but after removing it and reverting back to triple set, i cant get my 1600mhz 8-8-8-22 or my 20x 200 - how weird is that, since then i have been struggling, wish i had not bothered with the dual set to be honest.
I did updateto the f10 bios hoping for better, glad that i can run 21x191 but whats the deal with the ram, from 8-8-8-22 1600mhz 1.5v now i struggle with 9-9-9-27 1520@ 1.66v lol whats happened dude, any ideas would be great, so many bsod,???

So my GA-X58-Extreme board just gave upon me.:shocked: :shrug::confused::mad: Sometimes My Graphic card fan would just spin up to 100% and the computer would not boot. And other times it booted windows and after a while in windows the Graphic card fan would just spin up to 100% and the screen would go black and nothing happened. But now I Know Why!!!

Edit: How much higher did you increase your Vcore? I think at 4GHz, you might need ~1.22-1.25V.

just updated to bios F11 and 1 problem has popped up.
I have 4 HD's in the JMB controller configure as "port multiplier drives"
it was all working with the old bios, but the F11 bios now disables the GSATA 2/3 ports.
i found this out by booting a win7 dvd and launching a command prompt.
then just went down the list - C: D: E: F: G: H: I: until i get to J: (i have 9 HDs)
J: gives a device not ready error, and that drive is plugged into the GSATA 2/3 sockets.
anyone had this problem with F11 ????
im just about to cmos reset after pulling out the power supply cable.
Update: fixed it. I cleared cmos, set all the other options first, bios turned pc off, i turned it back on and set up the GSATA ports as i have them, then powered down plugged the drives back in and turned back on and win7 detected them now.
Before it was giving an 07BSOD then an 09 BSOD.
All good now.
HI. I have a quick question. I've been using bios F7a on EX58-UD5 and I would like to flash to bios F11. Can I just flash straight to F11 from F7a or would I need any other bios first? Thanks. I'm planning on upgrading the CPU after.
