Change your RAM to 1:1 and PL to 9
Great results everyone!
Have some questions to ask. The bios vcore's set to 1.33, but in cpuz, my cpu vcore under load's reflected as 1.30. Which is the true reading?
So i got my q9550 to 471x8.5 stable @ 1.3v (cpuz), but i suspect it could be lower - i'm still quite lost with all the mch/vtt settings. I noticed that at 471FSB, my chip is unstable as hell if my mch is @ 1.3, but once i bump the MCH up to 1.32, it runs 50 rounds of LinX w/o issues.
Any ideas how i can proceed from here to tweak the oc?
Here ya go, 500*9 @ 1250 5-5-5-15 PL8 in standard mode. Ill run it in turbo later to see if it makes a difference, last time I checked it was only maybe 1 sec faster than standard and virtually no difference in bandwidth. I only have the trial version of everest so I cant post the pretty blue benchmark screen. :( If you really want I can post pics of the individual tests, but its does 10423 R, 10640 W, 10789 C and 49.2 L.

Thank you, much apprecieted, :) really nice to see a DDR2 vs DDR3 P45 comparison with a Q9650 and 2x2Gb ram and both in Windows 7 RC 64bit, if Iīm not misstaken.
So 500 4,5 2x2 DDR3-1600 777 21 tRD9 does almost perform the same as 500 4,5 2x2 DDR2-1250 555 15 tRD8 with Super Pi 32M, itīs pretty close I most say and so is the bandwidth and latency.
Do you care to run some more comparison tests, we stay with the same CPU bus, clock and memory speed as in Super Pi, should be nice to have a test that responds well on ram bandwidth and latency, any suggestions.
My first run was in diagnostic startup mode with Windows 7 RC 64bit (less change to corrupt when run tests) but I did a rerun i normal startup mode to see if it was different but it wasnīt, it was within 1sec.
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/k...tRD9Turb-2.jpg
Im on 7201 which is probably not going to make a difference vs 7100. This is with the same settings as before just on turbo mode instead of standard. Its only a half second faster so it still doesnt seem like turbo does any good vs standard, bandwidth is also basically the same.

I was having trouble with a UD3P, would get bsod with any OC, ran fine before. Switched out all hardware, tried different case thinking it was a wire grounduing out. Today i get a new UD3P (not an RMA, ordered a new one), put everything together and same thing, boots fine at stock only. tried 2 cpu's 3 sets of ram, different gfx card, 2 different HDD's one with a fresh install, flashed bios. Left the back off of the case to have axcess to all case wires, I tried unplugging fan wires 1 at a time, restart try different wires, and still will not oc. I am stumped. Anyone have any ideas what may be causing this?
Thanks, this is what I used for the spi 32m and prime runs. Its not final yet since im still playing with the ram.

Yes! finally I succeeded in running 4500MHz stable. I decided to give it another try, this time with an AC unit blowing in direction of my watercooling rig.
I managed to get my temps down a bit
Before I was runing LinX with 31/ 31/ 37 (stuck) / 29 idle and 81/ 79/ 76/ 76 stressed
But with the AC unit blowing I got 25 / 29 (stuck) / 37 (stuck) /22 idle and 74 / 74 / 71 / 71 stressed
http://www.plaatjesupload.nl/bekijk/...734301-250.jpg
I could even lower vCore a bit, down to 1.425v
http://www.plaatjesupload.nl/bekijk/...735020-050.jpg
So lower ambient temps are key for me running 4500MHz.
After W7 is installed this evening I'll do a Everest run for comparing bandwidth and latency with Ghostleader and Hoss :)
Just some fun run on windows 7 7201 :D

Can someone help me with this issue...I had to scale back my 4.45Ghz OC due to the heat of summer, which left me testing stability at a lower OC, which I havent tested before.
Anyways, I could pass over 10minutes of small FFts P95 before error, yet when I run Blend I can only run 23sec, 3min, 6min or below I get errors (it always varies). Now you would think, raise MCH, raise Vdimm, check RAM subtimings, play with GTLs, check Trd, etc. None of any changing of these options helped, in fact I can run only 1.16MCH, and 1.8Vdimm and pass memtest86 test 5.
So I finally and very reluctantly upped my Vcore, which solved the problem...WHATS that all about??? The first 16minutes of P95 tests RAM and MCH, yet I was failing that area, and passing over 10minutes of the most stressful CPU test (small FFTs).
Anyone see any issues or problems?

Thanks a lot! I've been running my 9650 at 4500mhz for as long as this board has been out. I never have any blue screens, locks, restarts, absolutley no stability issues at all. Yet i cant complete P95 or Intel Burn test for any length of time. At this point, it doesnt really matter a whole lot because it does what i want it to do. I just want to try other peoples settings to see what happens. If i'm not mistaken, your 24/7 Clock is 4500mhz right? Do you mind posting your settings for that as well? or maybe just let me know what is different from your above post. Thanks again and i will try your settings now.
Hey guys need a bit of help weird problem not sure when maybe after vista 64 sp2 update my lan started acting up , it disconnects when im in utorrent .. tested router other pcs on network, seems to be isolated to my pc so next I put in a old linksys nic 100 card , I mean this thing this is from like 2000 lmao and its running better than my onboard lans , cant properly check on my dual boot windows 7 cause the utorrent wont work at all cuase of compatibility problems ... so could it be mine lan going bad could it be a setting or is it a sp2 problem , redid newest drivers also and tried both lans , work fine under regular usage in firefox with internet download manager
Update : so far my old lan card is doing much better ill get some screen pics up
I think for sure its a compatibility problem with the new realtek lan drivers and Vista 64 sp2 and not a hardware problem , maybe look into getting a good lan card for like 20 bucks
I finally got My Cpu Stable enough at 4.6Ghz(with 8 Gigs of ram) to run Vnatgae and 3d Mark06 in Win 7 7201

Thanks to everyone who helped me get this
I still have to see if i can bring vcore down. But my cpu likes lots of volts compared to what everyone one else is using. But my temps are still good
wow the ep45-ud3p clocks real well, and to think I just sold mine for another board because I thought it would be better for quad..
Nice to see
Hereīs mine EPT45 Q9650 @ 512 ~4,6GHz with 2x2 ram @ 1638 777 21 tRD 9.
3DMark06 are pretty close, you got better VGA points due to higher core clock but I got higher CPU score probably due to better bandwidth and latency from my ram.
Do you run ram @ 1000 CAS5 and with which tRD?
Screenie of bandwidth and latency maybe?
We see the similary tendency with 3DMark Vantage as with the 3DMark06.
It seems like I lose points when I run 3DMark06 with Win 7 64bit compare to XP 32bit with ~1500 points.

Sergio
You show off :p
Sergio, it you dont mind rerun that setup under win7, curious to see the difference from xp to 7201.
That is not fair
I can boot @ 4.75Ghz but it is only 1M Super PI stable.
I have to put 1.55V to the CPU though. Not sure if it is good for the CPU.My temps all stay below 68 though.
I am running 8 Gigs of ram at 1:1 with 5-5-5-15 pl 9.
I know my ram is holding my oc back. My Bandwidth are between 9200 - 9300 with latency of 58 or so.
When i try go higher i will SS a everst benchmark.
So my slightly higher card gets balanced by your higher memory bandwidth. COOL
These EP45 are some awesome boards, FSB 500+ with a quad, 8Gb ram and tight tRD
You got a pretty nice chip there, Sergio and my GTX 285 is on air but maybe I can push it some but not much so itīs hard to keep up with you. :D
I think itīs interesting to compare the DDR2 vs DDR3 of those EP45 board.
Iīll try to get a 3DMark06 in XP at the same FSB, clock speed and try to get my VGA up to yours VGA clock, if I canīt reach your VGA clock speed could you consider to lower yours to my clock and rerun your 3DMark06 in XP.
Should be nice to compare that with only the ram speed as a different. :yepp:
BTW, sure itīs a show off but itīs a nice one. :)
Does anyone know if these two sets of Ram the same other than the hs?

Here it is. I have tweaked the ram slightly
http://i40.tinypic.com/2jfyx03.jpg
Hoss31 this is the same run on Win7 7201x64 hughe difference...i just gave a notch of vcore and MCH as i did the other run on XP32 wich needs less volts
when i run 3DM06 Win7 disables color scheme and goes to basic...
this is at 4608/1229 my actual 24/7 with 1,408 vcore

this is at 4635/1236 just a test with 1,42 vcore

There definitely nice sticks and most seem to oc well. The 1200s were only instock at the egg for maybe 2 days, I was checking availability daily to make sure I got a set when they first popped up. I played with mine a little today and got them to 1300, not stable though.
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...tmapImageu.jpg
just installed nvidia 186.08 drivers (i removed on safe mode 185.85) and all benches give me lower points

With my new OCZ Platinum pc2 9200 1.8v ram i cannot get into windows at 1150 with pl8 L M A O. Been a bad week for me and hardware. Time for a new platform.
My G.Skill 9600 PI 2x2GB 1200Mhz kit just arrived! :up::up::up:
Damn, these babies run hella cool even at 2.1v. http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=585259
Is it possible that the CPU doesn't like a divider and does best at 1:1/200d? I have only run this e8400 using 200d pl9 due to not having a 4gb kit that would go much past 1130. On other boards I have had CPU's that would clock well at 1:1 only and some that seemed to like a divider. I know the chip is good up to 495x9 prime stable 8hrs. Maybe I am wrong about this idk.
Cpuz hw monitor and Everest shows 1.79v when set to 1.82v in bios, maybe needs another bump. Went as high as 1.40v mch but that is to high for 1150.
I also put this ram in my other rig with a q9550 and could not get it to boot into windows at 482x8.5 all the way up to 1.35vcore 1.40v mch, I have run this chip at 500x8.5 1.35v bios 240b prime stable but using a 2x1gb kit of d9's.
Thanks
Oh yeah, those clocks are damn hard to crack and WC helps a lot to keep it cool.
Looking good
You have all rights to be proud of your gear and sometimes one have to show off when one have succeed to put some good gear together as you have, no offence taken, you got my respect. :yepp:
I have a hard time to get my 2x2 ram stable above DDR3-1640 (~FSB 515) with CAS7 tRD9, probably I have to lose the timing to CAS8 and tRD up to 11, doesnīt look good but I have to see what kind of score I get and if itīs worth sacrifice bandwidth and latency and gain CPU clock speed.
Keep up the good work Sergio
Looks like Iīm starting to closing in on that wall, it getting harder to get it stable through Vantage in Win 7, hade to rise to CAS 8 @ 1648 with tRD10.
Iīm trying to get above 15k in Vantage without PhysX but itīs a struggle.
This is my latest run.

This board has issues with 2.40b at certain fsb and mch voltages. Post a template of the settings your trying or wanting to use. Mine will not boot 479fsb with 2.40B(1150) with any mch voltage higher than 1.32, go a little higher fsb and it has no problem booting with more mch voltage. As I said this board is picky with the 2.40b and it each of my ram has reacted differently with that strap.
Thanks HOSS, This is on my q9550, I know the CPU is good for it, trying to get the mem to do 1150 or higher. I am in windows now at these settings minus ram settings, currently at 200d pl9 1.30v mch. Have tried raising the VTT also but never needed any more than this, think its a ram, mch, or maybe my refs that need work. Or the Ram just wont do any higher.

What other FSB have you tried? Try this, lower your fsb to around 463 and change over to 2.50A, if this boots your problem is probably the board/2.40B.
I started at 479fsb to try and get the ram to 1150 but couldnt get in windows, then tried to go higher, up to 489- 4.15ghz to see if it was a fsb hole like you were saying but haven't been able to get it to boot into windows with the 240b. Will try that now Thanks
Nope, cant get into windows, have tried on 2 different UD3P's tonight with same results. I was able to use 240b 1200mhz pl8 with a 32bit OS using 2x1gb of Dominators 1066. Maybe it just wont do it with a 4gb kit:shrug:.
Thanks for your effort.
EDIT: If I change the clock skew to 1000/1000/0/50 I can get into windows with 240b:confused:.
I didnt try the 200d that I remember before on this chip. Gave up after500x8.5 because my mem wouldn't go any higher and I needed the clock skew at 1000/1000/0/50, didnt want to use that. So maybe I can get back to OC'ing now for higher fsb with the 200d.
Still a work in progress.

First of all, if I have your memory identified correctly, it's rated voltage is 2.2V. 1.84 is quite low. The default voltage of 1.8V is always that, as it shows the default voltage for DDR2 in general. I also think your static tRead value is too low for this FSB. try 11 or more, at least until you are stable.
MCH Frequency Latch - Set to 400 with a multiplier of 2.0, or auto with a multi of 2.0D
Other suggestions as well.
I have 510x8 stable (Tested many things over a week), my next step is 520FSB. So far my attempts have been pretty poor so would welcome any advice from the seasoned Pro's that frequent this thread
I am trying to fnd the maximum speed I can run the FSB at so if I have to use x7.5 that is fine.

Thanks, I can get stable with 200d pl9, just got this ram and was trying for 1150 and up pl8. The ram is low voltage, pc2 9200 1.8v. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227457
Anyone using F9L Bios, do you know what they added? I can't find anything about it :X
Ok, I'm trying to go for 4500 mhz on my E8400 E0, but having a little trouble...
Here's my template
Been trying 1.392v - 1.425v, but small FFT still fails after 30 seconds, I don't really want to go any higher than that, ive tried CPU reference tweaking but it's done nothing, but haven't messed with MCH reference. I did try putting 50ps on CPU clock skew but didn't really see a change. Can anyone lead me in the right direction to what I should do next?Code:Robust Graphics Booster ..............: [Auto]

Are you at 200B or 200D? If you have it set to B try 200D pl9. You may also want to try setting the drive strength profile to OC 1066 if 200d doesn't work.
I'm at 200B, and I think I got at 1.424v, I just needed to add another notch to bump it from 1.408, I didn't realize I needed 3 notches (from 2). However I just got an error after 10 minutes. Temps are 57C small FFT after 10 minutes in 17C ambient (Air conditioner). By the way, are these temps safe? I'm going to a lan party in a few weeks where it might be a lot hotter, and I don't know if low 60s are safe or not. Also I will try 200D and see what it does. Thanks
Guys for those using the LV Blades PC29600, do you think that 8GB will run at 1200 on my Q9650 wich im on 4500Mhz for 24/7 ?
now in running the gskills 9600 at 4500 / 1200
Cheers
Sergio
Damn, it didn't work. 200D failed faster than B, and I even tried different PL and drive strength. I had to bump voltage to 1.440v to get it stable. The VID on this chip is 1.25 though. I have to say I am kind of disappointed that I can't get under 1.4, especially since it's an E0. At least my temps are good. Maybe I will try some clock skews later as a last resort.
Hey guys,
Inspired by thebluemeanie1 I decided to go for the 7 Gold Cups available for Q9650 hardware: CPU-Z, PiFast, SuperPi, SuperPi32m, wPrime32m, wPrime1024m and PCMark05. I got 6 out of 7 so I think it's an interesting read for Gigabyte EP45-UD3P owners:
Q9650 - 6 Gold Cups in one Day (conquering the HWBot HOF)
Dark Energy,57c is fine in Prime. Actually that's pretty good for 1.424v. My e8400 needs close to 1.5v for 4.5ghz.
Very nice Jor3lBr , miss seeing your posts in this thread.
Nice work! But you might want to work on that 32m wprime.

Some test with Q9550 :)

So as long as it stays in the low to mid 60's C in stress testing, then volts don't matter or won't hurt it? I have an E8500 E0 VID 1.250 that seems to want above 1.45 (BIOS) to get 8.5 or 9 x 500fsb stable. I haven't tried any higher to get it to work cause I'm afraid of the volts killing my CPU.
So I want to know if it's the volts or the heat? If I keep heat under control, do the volts even matter?
bluestang, keep heat under control and your processor will be alive :)
Thanks Loco, I'm waiting on some OCZ Freeze to come in. I will then replace my AC Ceramique with that and also replace the stock fan on my Zerotherm Zen FZ120 with a Scythe S-Flex SFF21G to see what happens with temps.
After that, maybe a Swiftech H20-220 Apex Ultima watercooling kit that Leeghoofd has in his sig.
Question. Is 1.440v safe on me E8400 E0 for 24/7? The VID on this chip is pretty bad (1.25v), and small FFT temps went to 62C with ambient 19c (64c for both cores in realtemp). I got it for xmas back in december and the packing date is september 2008. I guess I got one of the first batches of the E0, cause from what I have seen on this forum everyone who is running 9 x 500 with less than 1.4 has a newer chip (packed after december). Guess my chip isn't the best?
Stick a TrUE on there Dark-Energy, I replaced my AC7 Pro with one and was amazed at the drop in temps...
I don't know about the volts long term. I think 1.3625v is still the max according to Intel. I have heard some say 1.45v on the EO's. IDK but I wanted a 4.4-4.5ghz chip so if it has a short life I'm ok with it. As long as my temps are good its staying where it is.
If you are still using the settings you posted on the previous page, one glaring problem is your tRfc set to 45. G Skill states it must be at 52. I am running at 48, but tweaked it down to that after getting stable with 54.
Set your Static T Read manually to 11 or higher to get stable.
You should try a lower CPU Ref, not higher.
Bump your MCH Core to 1.4.
Set MCH/DRAM Ref, DRAM Termination, Channel A & B Ref to 50% of DRAM Voltage.
Have you tried stability testing with the CPU Multi at 8? If you have not, you are going about this all wrong. You need to test components, not just throw everything up and blast volts to your CPU.
My chip is a vid 1.25v, maybe something on here can help.

1.3625v - maximum VID for the E8190-E8600 processors. Maximum core and FSB Termination voltage is 1.45V. This is from IntelŪ Core™2 Duo Processor E8000đ and E7000đ Series Datasheet.
I used my Q9450 about 4 months at 1.525V, he's still alive :)
Keep temps below 80 or even below 75C.
