It's probably your RAM. Run memtest86 test #5 for 50 loops. SP is very sensitive to RAM.

P95 crashes @ 3.8 after 5 minutes. But it's weird because I can run WCG for hours and multi-task with extreme 3d applications such as Bioshock w/ no symptoms of crash or any thing of such sort. So I find 3.8 to be stable. 1.54V set in bios. DMM shows 1.51v - Idle & Load (vdroop mod). Running with C1E and EIST stable so it goes down to 1.38v according to DMM @2538mhz. I don't think the extra 200mhz is worth it temporarily for that big of a jump in voltage.
Help me choose ;) so far I have the following choices (all include C1E + EIST):
*Voltages taken from DMM
3,200mhz @ 1.280v
3,600mhz @ 1.420v
3,807mhz @ 1.510v
Thanks:up:
Debating to do the heatpipe mod or not. I've been running the volts on everything including southbridge at the medium voltage settings and vcore set to 1.585 in Bios on dual burn for 1 hour. Room temps ambient is 83 to 84F. After 1 hour My temps are 79C on the PWM. That's not too bad considering the voltage I'm pumping though the whole board on all the heatsinks. The whole pipe assembly is hot. I guess I got good contact on all 3 heat sources right? The mb is not in the case at the moment (open desk system).
Wow...got fans on all those?
no fans. I topped it out at 80c with 1.595 and the ambient being 85F. I think my board is good to go w/o the heatpipe mod because my other board would hit 95c when the room was 80F and less vcore.
I think everyone should be happy with this BIOS. ;)
Beta 16
As always, use at your own risk, no official support, not yet anyways.
guys, this beta bios is excellent!...i tried it compliments of "Bingo13" (AKA) Gary Key of Anandtech fame:up:...many thanks to him for the pre-trial test prior to relasing it for general use...
one of the "major" changes in this beta is the puter will no longer shutdown after changing bios settings and then saving them....good news for those who are using phase cooling.
for quad users, i was not able to crank my FSB any higher but i did see a jump in performance!
3dmark05 and pcmark05 all had improvement along with superpi 1m...previously 14 secs, now, 13.4 secs @ 3.84Ghz...
it is like being the runt of the family!;)
Thanks Bingo. :up:
Thanks Bingo. I like the boot screen. I haven't noticed any faster performance, but then again it was fast as hell to begin with :cool: So far I've noticed only 3 new features after flashing from bios11. One is that now you can choose if you want the onboard sound in AC97 or HD Audio. Second is that there are 5 slots for you to save your custom bios config into. You can also name these profiles. Finally is the one that Ace mentioned; your computer will not turn off when you save in bios. I'll be on the lookout for anything that's new in this version. Thanks again :up:
Is there a date for the final release of the BIOS? I can't afford a bad flash. :(
does a QUAD core makes the VDROOP worst on this board and can some one pointme on the right direction to the vdroop mod, i seen two different ones and i want to make sure i do the right one as i just got a quad and the vdroop is horrendous tho i'm still on bios 10, will upgrading the bios help a little thx
I don't know if it will help for vdroop, but I do recommend flashing to beta 16 ASAP.
Vdroop mod - http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=802
Does he have to rename the file?
The guide says no http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=2023
I followed the instructions exactly as they say without renaming the file but the awdflash hungs.. No harm done but also no flash done..
So the extension is not the problem but the large name of the file...
thanks,i ll try it asap...
Has anyone else experienced this issue as well, where the system hangs at a "CMOS checksum error" screen? I haven't the slightest clue what could have gone wrong since the board worked fine earlier.
Looks like Abit released an official 12 and 14 bios today.....complete package with release notes.
http://file.abit.com.tw/pub/download/bios/ip35pro/
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/new-b/ipbios.png
you can still get a bad flash with an official bios...if you follow my flashing instructions for flashing with a floppy, it should go ok.
my particular flash failure using the USB thumbdrive was my fault...i looked back at that event and i found my error...when it happened twice to me, i knew it was something that i had done incorrectly.
when i formatted my thumbdrive, i incorrectly used the FAT table (FAT16)...with that table, there is a maximum design limitation for a drive...up to 2G's is allowed for a FAT 16 table...my drive was 4G's...so, i screwed the pooch...i since then reformatted the USB drive to FAT32 and i have successfully flashed many times using the switches from my flashing guide link.
the HP tool does not allow you to divide the partition up if you use the "FAT" option to format....design flaw, YES!...but...i should have known better.Quote:
Aside from the inefficiency of FAT 16 on larger drives, it has a maximum partition size of 2GB. If you were to purchase a 4GB hard disk, you would have to partition or divide it into two disks of 2GB each in order to format it with FAT 16.
i renamed the file per your recommentdation to 16.b01 and edited the runme file and flash when perefectly thx
on my QUAD i am stuck at 433 FSB using 9 as multi, my vdroop is bad 1.625 BIOS 1.53-1.54 actual measuring at board
my 6850 was running flawlessly at 8x500
any suggestions to increase the FSB, i am using the same voltages settings that i used for my 6850
vtt 1.23
mch 1.40
ichio 1.60
ich 1.19
thx for any suggestions

I have kind of the same problem. CPU was running fine at 423X9 w/ bios11. I have different saved configs for fsb in uguru. I went to uguru and changed my speed to my preset (423X9) from 400X9 and it freezed and rebooted. I think this bios might have a fsb bug :shrug:
sweet new stuff to install
so whats the consensus? beta 16 or final 12? any real diffrences besides those stated in the list.
droop any better?
Quick question for you guys. Anyone having difficulties clocking CellShock PC800 CAS4 memory with this board. Such as needing excessive NB or VDIMM voltage?
Edit: I'm looking for info with this particular memory. I'm not having issues myself just looking for feedback from users with the above combination.
The Abit board has allowed standard memory modules to clock very well, such as GeIL PC2-8500 / 6400 C4 at stock voltages ... which the DFI P35 refuses to boot (C1/C3) ... the sames modules can also be used on the DFI 680i / P965 without issue.
After flashing to the beta 16, my Q6600 temp reading in uGuru is much more accurate. Before beta 16, it read about 6-8 degrees C below room temp. Now it's about 3-4 degrees above, which is more realistic (watercooling the cpu, btw).
Other than that, I haven't noticed anything glaringly different.
Shawn
Ive run into check sum errors, it has to do with RAM, start playing with that... try loosening your ram timings a bit or turning your ram divider to 1:1.
look for c1, 25, 25, post errors may be an indication of ram problems.
otherwise it could be a bad bios flash, i also had two sticks of ram go bad over long stressing usage with my machine, im hoping its my ram not my MB.
I finally placed an order for one of these boards, after sitting on the fence for weeks, trying to decide on which P35 MB. This will be my primary PC for everything plus will serve for main DVR and ripped DVD storage for an separately located HTPC.
My planned build will consist of the following:
Antec P182b case with four Sythe case fans
E6750 processor with Thermalright SI-128 SE Cooler
2GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800 and 2GB Corsair XMS DDR2 800 memory (total 4 sticks)
Gigabyte 8600 GTS graphics
SATA DVD Drive
500GB WD Hard drive (Plan to add more drives & go RAID 5 later)
Corsair HX520 PSU
Vista Home Premium 64-bit.
Flash drive reader, etc. I also have a floppy to use for Bios updates, etc.
Couple of questions:
Any obvious compatibility issues?
Will I run into any problems with using two different brands memory, or should I order 2 more sticks of one of the types I have?
I would like to use the jMicron controlled SATA slots for the DVD drive and the drive with the system installed, and then use the Intel controlled ports for RAID in a few months. Can the JMicron ports be used for internal drives or are they only accessible from the rear for external drives?
Ben
My buddy's had some pretty crappy luck w/ Corsair's vanilla 800 ram...I also didn't get much out of them. Crucial's always been friendly to the OC tho.
I wonder why this board still doesn't work for me. Even at stock and CIE and EIST disabled at stock timings. Its like my memory doesn't want to work. I still can't pass super pi 32M at stock timings, speeds, and voltages. Still get corrupt downloads or error "the data area passed to a system call is too small ." Programs still won't install. This keeps me up night and day because it is the only PC I have. Also, when I up the voltages about of the CPU and memory .01v or.25v super pi fails even faster. I really hope that it isn't the cpu or power supply because those are the only things that aren't fresh from RMA or new.
@Magic Chief,
Have you set the memory timings ( and the subtimings ).
Have you checked your RAM with memtest86+ for errors ?
List your settings so we can have a look dude [ don't know if you've posted any info about your problem in the previous pages, so let me know if you've done that ]
Things I have found running some quals on this board.
bios 16:
TRAS needs to be higher than you usually run it. DFI LP P35 likes 14 this board likes 17. So 1150 flex 5-5-5-15 try 5-5-5-17 ;)
TRFC 42 is the key, if the SPD is tighter manually set to 42 and test again.
NB voltage needs to be 1.36 for 4GB at 1100, HEAT is a huge issue as you know.
Not got to tweaking for max speed yet this was just JSP tests but the TRAS and TREF settings were most important
T
Tony, what kind of issues do tighter settings on these cause? I have had a lot of shutdown issues trying to run above 3.4 and raising the voltages seem to make it worse. I changed psu's and have just gotten a different mb back from rma. Not tested much except that I still have the shutdown issues above 3.4 when trying to run Prime. Memory is in my sig and timings have been set to 5.5.5.15 with the rest on auto.
I have been posting about this problem since for 2 months. Here are some background information. Sorry if it doesn't flow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have another problem that may be the root of all my problems. I can't pass any super pi calculations without getting a error message. It will run for a couple seconds then I will either get the "Not Convergent in SQR05" or "Not Exact in Round". I am running at stock speeds on memory and cpu. I am also supplying the recommended voltages and timings.
Hmm well I have a problem. My system is really unstable. I just got a new board and memory back from RMA and still have the same problem. My memory tested out fine on Memtest. My hard drives tested out on Seagate tools and chkdsk, I even bought a new drive to see if that was the problem. Power supply is fine. Video card is fine. Samsung DVD-RW SH-S203B is new. I can't install xp x64 but I can install x32. The main problem is my downloads are corrupt, I can't download windows updates, I can't install java, flash, office 2007, adobe acrobat or any other program and most of all it has trouble installing chipset drivers, realtek sound/nic drivers, video drivers, etc. System is really unstable.
Mem 2.2v 5-5-5-15 2T Stock; New
CPU: 1.25v Stock
Video Card: Stock
DVD-RW: New but still had problem with multiple ATA/SATA drives
Hard Drives: Seagate 400GB and new WD 160GB SATA; IDE mode in bios
MB: Beta 12 bo2 bios, I uped my ICH vcores 1.12 and 1.60. Set to stock for now.
I have zero filled the drives, used one stick of memory in slot 4, updated bios ohh and installed windows 50+ times. Xp x64 fails to copy files during installation and vista x32 gets bsod error. Xp x32 installs but i can't do anything. Used UBCD utilities and still not luck. It can't be the board or ram because they are both new. All help will be greatly appreciated.
I uped the vcore from 1.25v to 1.28; still got errors. Then I upped it to 1.30v; still errors. Memory is at 5-5-5-15 2.2v. It checks out ok with memtest through all the tests over 6 hours, and it also passed 62 tests of #5 test before I stopped it.
if your memory is erroring it could cause instant shutdown...seen it on these P35 boards a few times.
I can memtest fine with TRAS and TRFC tighter, hammering in windows is what pushed me to search why things were failing...its also more prominent in Vista.
Just try TRFC at 42 and relaxing TRAS to 17 and see if it helps, get a fan on the NB also and keep it cool.
for those with 1.8ns Micron try 6-6-6-18 timings with TRFC 42 or higher and see if that helps get 1100+
Uguru temp the last time was 53c and CoreTemp is always about 6-7 above that. PMW temps are wild on the new board as it is indeed in need of Ace's mod. I tried it without the mod to see what it did. But it never got a chance to get too hot before the shutdown. After going to 3.2 (400x8) I started Priming it and the PMW jumped to 102c after about 10 minutes. I decided to see what happened and I left it running to see when it would crap out. 7 hours later I shut down Prime and it was still at 102c with no errors. I wonder if we are being too conservative in what we consider too high for the PMW temps. I would love to be at home to test Tont's settings but it will be 10 days before I get back. I have also wondered if because mt Quad has such a low vid, 1.2125, that maybe I need to explore at much lower vcore than what most are using. I know high vcore does not work. I have tried it on 2 boards now and 3 different psu's, an OCZ Powerstream 520, a PCP&C 850, and now the Corsair 620 (didn't like the noise of the PCP&C).
What is "TM", I am drawing a blank as to wht you mean.
Jumping on the p35 train and the abit ip35-E cargoholder.
Have read some nice things about these cards so it be good to test one on my old cpu until i can put a new one in there.
my suggestion would put the puter into a minimum hardware configuration...one drive, one memory stick (swap them out to ensure one stick is not bad), one video card (or a different kind) to eliminate as many variables as you can...run your benches...if they complete, start adding only one piece back at a time...if you still get failures, either consider a board or PSU replacement.
I've got a P35 Pro MB arriving in a couple of days. I plan to do the heatpipe mod, but first I need to be sure I won't have to RMA it right away.
How thoroughly should I test it before doing the mod? Is it enough to just install minimal parts and see if it boots, or should I do the full windoz install, update bios and all drivers, full setup with mild OC, etc.?
thanks for the info....i needed as i was thinking of buying this mobo...
Ben, I would take a look @ the board and see if the heatpipe's on there straight. If yes, I'd go ahead and install windows w/ stock clocks, load up orthos blend and make sure the heatpipes get warm/hot. If they do, you're good to go. If not, maybe you'll need to reapply paste/throw screws on there.
2 days ago, i switched from a Gigabyte P35 DS4 to a IP35 Pro, for my 2nd gaming rig. First impressions quite good. Much better behavior when oc'ed than DS4.
I had a long break from abit and this comeback is pretty nice... :)
Currently running with 11 bios, a 6750 @ 3600mhz and SuperTalent PC8000 (4-5-4-15) @ 1080mhz 4-4-4-15.
Couldn't agree with u more, Tony. :)
For the past week i've been playing with 2 P35 boards (DS4, IP35) and 6 different mems. What u're saying is totally true and it doesn't just apply to IP35.
I'm sure it would help, but in my case, the PWM's don't load anymore than 60C and that's w/ no fan on them in toasty AZ. So I don't think it's "necessary," but then why not? :D
My PWM temp doesn't go over 53'C with no fan.
AstroCreep: concur
My board is soon to received the heatpipe mod as my PWM with a Q6600 at 3.0ghz is almost 90! after 10 minutes of Prime95. No, my voltages are not crazy high either. Vcore at 1.45 and most other voltages just 2 selections above stock.
I can't wait to get my 40mm fans and AS5 on these heatpipes.
Just a quick question for initial setup. Will this board boot with 2gig ballistrix installed.
Or do i need to run 1 stick, change the voltage, then drop in the next one?
C/o of rlm ... just adjust the HDD setup for USB on the Abit.
Now my problem is that the BIOS does not have a USB-HDD boot option and I can't see the flash drive in the HDD boot order section. :shrug:
You MUST download the latest stable drivers from ABIT's website which include the runme.bat, etc. Beta does not contain these files. Then you must right click and edit runme.bat to have the same bios name as your beta. I find this pretty funny that your asking this since ACE's Bios Flashing Guide is in your sig :rolleyes:
Ok well I edited the runme.bat so that the file would now be M629B_16AT.B01. But I get the error that the file is not a .bin file during flash.
Should I change the file extension to .bin?
Obviously, yes.
Rename the file to M629B_16AT.BIN , and do the same in the runme.bat ( make sure the BIOS filename is exactly the same )
What are some initial impressions on the newest beta bios?
I'm particularly interested in feedback from Q6600 users. Increased stability? Higher FSB?
Same thing ( FSB/Stability ). [ Q6600/QX6700/QX6850 used, all reached the same FSB with every BIOS version that I've tried ]
Everyday with this motherboard, proves me that Abit has come back for good this time. Great m/b... :up:
Totally stable, without specific problems and as opposed, to the not very far, past, we aren't waiting for a bios to solve a huge prob.
Today i updated bios from 11 to 14, though FlashMenu utility, without any problems. As it happened from 10 to 11 bios upgrade i did.
One note about the new 14 bios. uGuru shows cpu temp way lower and now the gap with CoreTemp has further widened to 15'C off. Something that forced me to reset the EQFan settings. Anyone else experienced this?
i had explained back about 3-4 pages that you cannot have your DOS file any longer than 8 alpha-numeric characters for your bios file name.
on top of that, my guide clearly stated to download an official Abit bios so you have the runme.bat and abitfae.bat available to flash automatically...i described that you had to rename the bios file name that is in the runme.bat to the current bios you wanted to flash.
the only thing that i did not get into was "how to" flash via an USB thumbdrive...a properly formatted USB drive acts just like floppy disk/drive when you use the HP format tool.
have you successfully flashed with this latest "16" beta bios?
Is there some kind of change log for the bioses? I have tried all of them and i haven't noticed any difference.(except the CR option)..
To whoever writes them a strap option would be very appreciated.. is that possible?
for release BIOS yes, although I'm certain that they don't go into technicalities or cover evry little tweak.
For betas often not.
i do not use Uguru with the user profiles so i have not been subjected to that particular problem
After a bit more beta testing is over, Abit should start shipping the boards with the latest bios improvements already installed.....
I wonder if that will be much longer? I'm guessing not.
I am hoping to get a board that is up to date with the latest bios, and ready to be installed when I open the box.
The Abit IP35-Pro is my current favorite.
All the flashing, and wondering how complicated it will be to get actually get a 2 drive RAID 0 Raptor array running off of the mobo has me consirned.
I am a plug and play fan myself. (First build) ;)
doubt if Abit will update the bios for any produced boards...they are probably into gearing up for the X38 board(s).
i heard of a few instances of raptor drives having problems with P35 chipset...i presume it is a hardware revision on the raptor.
raid is very easy to set up on the Pro board...i use two 320G seagate 7200.10 series drives without any problems...in fact, seagate has a 250G model that has comparable SRS speed to the raptor because it has only one platter...of course, it doesn't have the access speed compared to raptor...raptor will always own that one with the 10K rotational speed.
