I don't think its stable.
BTW I forgot to say i have a C0 E8500.

BTW I forgot to say i have a C0 E8500.
I don't run IBT on this CPU, it's far too hot ( already in the 60°C with just prime ) IBT is nice for a few runs, but people exagerate and hardware will fail in due time to just get a lousy screenshot that it is/was stable
Look here one of the victims ( the programmer himself ), now we need to find out what has happened ( TIM or Core/IHS issue)
IBT is NOT GOOD FOR YA HARDWARE
well i dont know if its my new power supply or if i was just rushing when i first started trying to clock my 9650 but now i am able to lower these volts even more.so either way i am happy.
http://i40.tinypic.com/2nsc13p.jpg
IBT is good for a quick stability test. I don't want to Prime for hours every time I change a setting. Couple of minutes for 10 run IBT and if it passes that I can leave it overnight priming. I've saved days this way.
Why do you think his problem is IBT related? Isn't Core architecture quite resistant to abuse, throttling when needed and such?Quote:

aaah gotcha.
LLC - load line calibration
whats the deal? safe or unsafe? is it just a matter of personal opinion, or are there people who have actually fried their chip from voltage spikes under load? if i understand correctly, llc compensates for vdroop, basically by spiking voltage.... ?
thoughts?
I have LLC enabled and personally I like it, it makes it way easier to stabilize the OC (well for me it does).
I'm through with this board now.
http://valid.canardpc.com/cache/screenshot/504368.png
Even one MHz FSB higher and it shuts down...
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=504368
Nice work
Is that stable?
Could u please post ur settings?
very nice mean machine.but has it occured to you that the cpu wont go any higher(hit its limit).i bet if you set the multiplier to 8.5 or 9 you could get a little higher fsb.hell even 8 and you could probally go alot higher.any ways great job with that clock
I have the same limit with three separate CPU's regardless of multipliers. I'll see if I can give you my settings later on, but I promise you, they aren't pretty. It was 1.52V MCH and 0.93 in MCH ref or so.
550MHz FSB isn't particularly stable (once again, regardless of CPU frequency, multiplier, MCH voltage, straps, you name it I tried it), but it works for Pi 1M if you're lucky. If you need stability, about 525 is where I need to be. It just doesn't work well enough for me, the board keeps :banana::banana::banana::banana:ing all the time, I've spent tens of hours getting it stable, but over 525 it's just not that.
What's so fab on 552FSB and a CPU-Z screenie ? His CPU speed is mad for air or water ( but with extreme cooling is average ) Would love to see a 32MB run... as taking a CPU-Z, 1Mb run screenie takes one minute of stability in windows... don't get too easily arroused guys lol
try a diff cpu dude, only take me 1.3625 cpu volts, 1.26 vtt, 1.3 NB with refs at .768 and .758 to do 550 prime blend and 3d stable....
Already tried an E7200 which behaved exactly the same on the board, regardless of voltages.
@ Rattle ,What's your board Revision? 1.0 or 1.1 550x8 is the greastest clock that my Cpu can do but seem no possible with this board ??
Any way could you post yr full BIOS setting ?
well i was able to get it somewhat stable a while back at 556fsb.so it can be done

Very Nice radaja, ask some Question I notice that my 12+ Volt Rail is alway below 12.00 It's around 11.87-11.92 in ET6 And never go above 12.00
. Is this something wrong with my mobo? I see you have alway over 12.00 that u show ur post in the past.
Note: I use Enermax 460 Watt for my system and everything run up as usual.
BuGjAE,from what i understand its better to have a single rail psu.with my antec 550W psu it was multiple rails and my 12v would always go from 12.30 to 11.30 under load,it seem to stay in the 12.49 to11.98 while doing large fft's but when it got to the small fft's it would drop to 11.98 to 11.39 area.but now that ive change my psu to the PC-Power&cooling 500W with a single 12v rail, even using my quad i have yet to see my 12v line drop below 12.11,its usually at 12.51 to 12.49 under load.and it seems that having a very stable single 12v rail with high amperage allows me to run my quad with much lower vcore.i assume it because there are less flucuations in the vcore that is being supplied.
Hello...
...is some new bios out there for the EP45T-UD3P DDR3 Board???
I have now F4
...thx
F5 mate : EP45T UD3P F5 Bios
these are the bios settings i used for the 556 and 560fsb runs, everything that is blank was left on auto.and the 560 run the mems are running 1:1 using 2.00D and pl10 W/lower vdimm.

is it ok to not reinstall windows if i am just swapping one mobo for another but both identical as i have revieced my rma board??
How does this board work with using all four dimm slots? I wanted to use a 4x2gb set for 8 gigs of RAM.
loony, ive used 8 gigs of G.skill pc8800's 4x2gig running 1:1 overclocked at 8.5x518 and using quad 9650 and it works great.with my E8500 i was able to run 1:1 with 8x545 pretty stable.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=1270
Heres my top overclock, still lots of room to go higher :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbmJtRkSlak
Look at the temps at the end :p:
Lol fatguy nice benching! :yepp: Whats the brand of your Phase?
I still need to hook my boards to my Cryo-Z, but with some gueto mods on a Domino ALC I was able to bring home the SuperPi 1m and 32m World Records:
http://i44.tinypic.com/2ih8b2b.jpg"]...om/2ih8b2b.jpg
http://i42.tinypic.com/dcrkg.jpg
It hasn't really got a brand, Kayl built it from me :D
Also nice work
Indeed, congrats Jor3lBR . Glad to see the records here in the desert.
The other night I installed 4x1 dimms, 2 Crucial and 2 KHX. Both 8500's. Ran a 32m pi then after some adjusting got it to run P95 for awhile. On my way to 4.5

wow Jor3lBR, that's very impressive. are you using the gskill pc9600 memory? these seem to be the only 4gb 24/7 stable for 1200+
well i have installed my rma board and its still buzzing when under load mainly under blend or large ffts it goes nuts. how many of you guys have this same problem? and is it fixed with revioson 1.1?
I kinda had the buzzing noise, not very loud tho. I can't hear if it still happens, lol my phase change is too loud :p:
anyone else would aprreciate finding out if this is on all/ most boards or just the unlucky one?
Lots of very happy users here... very few complaints.
Sorry I haven't been following eveything thats been happening. But did u try updating the BOIS, also I think the noise i get goes away when I disable LLC.
Sorry if i just suggest things that u have tried, but like i said i haven't really been following whats been happening.
can you guys just run blend and take a listen please guys.
i think the board is the best but wish i never had this buzzing never happened on 2 of the ddr3 versions
If/when I get mine 2 start again i'll stress it and have a listen.
No buzzing at all on my UD3R, but I don't use DES or LLC.
Hey Nugzo! Thanks. One screen shot you picked it up from my sig that was on the UD3P, but as you can see here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=217439 I have both.
They clock the same I guess I just got less volts for the Extreme then the UD3P, probably because I learned some new tricks.
I was running my system on 4900Mhz 24/7 with low volts for those benches and wPrime, 3DMarks, Super Pi32m stable (couldn't Prime95 too much heat) I had a $61 CollIT Domino WC system for it lol! I'll try that on the UD3P also pretty sure they can do same because UD3P has better chipset revision (A3).
Yes I still using the G.Skill PI 9600 4Gb kit, they run comfortably above 1310Mhz with little 2.1-2.2 vdimm.
I'm using the G.Skill PI 9600 4Gb kit, they run comfortably above 1310Mhz with little 2.1-2.2 vdimm.
I can run HCI Memtest all day with them above 1300Mhz.
Thanks mate! Keep pushing you will get there soon enough!
Thanks how are you liking it? Yeah custom builds are always better! I would like to see the build log of your phase, is there any?
i only use llc can you guys who dont use llc try it and let me know if it buzzes
Has anyone else noticed any issues with ET6 and comp. freezing? I do a prime run for 16 hours, surf the web, watch videos, chat or whatever. All the normal things I do with no issues. Am ready to quit prime and take a ss, forget to open ET6 to show my voltages. Open ET6 and bam it freezes. Have had a major problem with freezing on this board but always had ET6 open. This is a screen shot of the run about 30 seconds before opening ET6 and the freeze. ASUS AI suite had similar effects so I stopped using it. Was hoping this would be better. Never used ET6 to adjust voltages, just as a reference for Oc ss's.
could a bad power supply cause my buzzing on my board?
I'm loving my phase change cooler. Its so awesome. There isn't a build log, probably cause he didn't have time and since hes build quite a lot of SS units it wasn't anything to special.
Also have a look at what I got before with my Q6600.
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=506194
My basic settings are.
LLC: Enabled
Vcore: 1.5875v - drops to 1.552v in Windows
PLL: 1.57v
VTT: 1.3v
CPU Reference: 0.863
MCH: 1.3v
MCH Reference: 0.863
ICH: 1.2v
Idle temp = -43C
OC nub, make sure ET6 is not set to load any settings.cause that would cause it for sure.
...hmmm :hm: ...i think i need water or dyce to kick the worldrekord :sonic:
But my 4,85Ghz are on air :explode2:
hi guys im looking at these mobos but im not sure which to get ive heard good things about the GA-EP45-UD3P and for the price but the thing that draws me away is it has only 6-Phase Power vs 16-Phase Power the other im looking at
going to run a E8500 and X3350 see what i get vs my old Asus P5B Deluxe lol
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...page=2&bop=And
dom7184,you can buy into the myth that more is better and end up spending way too much money on frills and gimmicks or you can simply buy the best 775 board (price/performance)out there.the UD3P performs better than two of those boards in my opinion, and the other two boards i have no experience with so i cant speak to that.but i have seen some very impressive OC's with the DQ6 and the Extreme.but again the UD3P is on par with those two and at a better price.
"This board supports 30A per phase and delivers a total of 180A to the CPU."
Source= http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=3508&p=4
This is really frustrating.
I bought this board to replace my Asus P5B which was aging fast. I previously had my system running at 3.33ghz with an E5200 and 2 x 2gb of GSkill 1066mhz mem.
I can get the system to boot fine at 333x11 and a variety of other combinations of core and memory speed but as far as getting into windows the system will not get to the desktop with ANY SETTING other than me loading defaults and saving and exiting the bios.
I have tried copying peoples bios settings from this thread but I feel like im missing a major setting somewhere thats preventing my success.
Any ideas?
Snoodge please post all your bios settings so we can help.
Thats the problem. I have no bios settings, I cant get into windows with anything other than "Load Defaults".
I have tried copying two or three peoples posted bios settings and those get me into the bios overclocked in some cases, in some other cases the comp just restarts 2 or 3 times or whatever until it realizes the OC failed and then it gives me the message OC failed when I enter setup.
I have not yet updated the bios to the latest version. I just got the board from Newegg the other day. How critical is updating the bios, are there major stability and OC differences between the shipping bios and the latest ones? I have no problem flashing, I just havent gotten around to it yet.
Ive been too depressed about this board not being the second coming of Jesus like Anandtech led me to believe. I hope to change that though with your help and accept it as my savior
Greetings,
I am looking for some advice on my cousin's new build. Here are the specs...
Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R (BIOS - F6)
Intel Q6600 @ 3.2GHZ (400 x 8) 1.4500v
OCZ 4GB 1066 Reaper @ 1066 5-5-5-15 (w/ tight alphas) 2.20v
BFG 9800GTX @ 792/1944/2304
We are experiencing a weird problem. The system is Prime stable (all 4 cores & memory). We can run 3DMark and play games all day long. The system can be rebooted over and over, without any issues. However, once the unit is powered down (turned off), it will not boot back up successfully. It will attempt to boot like 3 times (never getting through POST), then it will go back to stock settings and boot. When you go into BIOS, you get the message saying the system didn't boot due to overclocks or voltages... however, you can apply your overclock settings and everything will be fine, until the system is Cold Booted again?! It is very annoying, especially since he turns his system off when he is not using it. Has anyone else experienced this "Cold Boot" issue or have any ideas and/or suggestions? Perhaps it's just a simple fix, like raising a voltage up a bit (I have tried CPU voltage, with no luck)...
-Thanks
NOTE - Only the VCore and VDimm have been raised, all other voltages are still on Auto...
CHaynes112
I got that problem when I first got the mobo too, I fixed it by setting the CPU and MCH References to better values. The reference on a Q6600 should be about 63% 67% and the MCH 63% to 67%. To work it out you dived the reference that you set (eg 0.863) by the VTT. So if ur VTT is 1.3v and you have a reference of 0.863 it works out to 0.863 / 1.3 = 0.6638...
That is pretty close to 67%.
Thats how I was told to set them up. You do the same process for the MCH. Some Q6600's and MCH's may like higher or lower references then average.
Sorry if this doesn't makes sense.
CHaynes112
If the above doesn't help, try flashing to F5. I've had similar problems with F6.
Hereīs my Q9650@500 4,0GHz and 4x2 OCZ Reaper PC8500@1000 555 15 tRD10.
Itīs stable with 30 loop LinX (~3hrs, max problem size and max memory use).
Some may do think that my vcore is way to high for 4,0GHz but those of you that use to run LinX with max problem size and max memory use knows that you need it, when I run P95 small FFT Iīm stable with ~0,10v less and temp are ~20C lower.
It not only stress the CPU, the NB gets it share to, it come close to 50C when max stress it with original heatsink/heatpipe (TIM replaced), MCH core@1,34v.
I was surprise that I not had to increase any voltage going from 2x2 to 4x2.
Next up is P95 blend, probably I have to run four instances to stress that amount of ram.

i booted at 500fsb 1:1 memory ratio, but i can't get it stable. i didn't know which voltages to increase, so i increased ALL the auto settings currently shown in my template, and it won't even boot. it seems the increase in voltage from those makes it even more unstable, including the vdimm. increased it from 2.0v to 2.1v for the memory and it won't even boot. it's weird how more voltage for the memory actually makes it unstable.
based on the voltage, i'm assuming "MCH/ICH" is the same word for north bridge right? and should i change my memory multiplier from 2.00B to 2.00D? all this does is change the 333 strap to the 400 strap right? i also need help with all the settings i bolded in the template. and is the F6 bios more stable than the F5? i just got this board a day ago, and bios settings are very different than asus boards that i'm use to.

simpletech,i had the same problem when i got my 9650.strap 333/240B would not boot.wasnt a problem with board but with the bios.with my e8500 i was alway on biosF5 pretty much the whole time and never had problem with 5:6.was even able to go as his as 560fsb with 333/2.40B 5:6.my strap issues started when i got my 9650 and flashed to F6 and then to F7 bios's.once i flashed down to F4 no more problems.so maybe give this a try.cheers.

all my fans are on i have an antec 1200 and its whisper quiet got new psu on the way anyway i blagged a new modular Enermax Revolution 85+ 1250w.
the buzzing on my board goes away nearly if i disable llc. not bothered about it now guys just want to know if it will be safe?
I currently am using a EK NB/SB 5 chipset block on my northbridge. Helps temps somewhat (I still get 40°C+). :shakes:

so how did you keep the hs on the mofsets on when taking off the NB off
does the heatpipe come off
Finally got everything and now have a bad stick of ram, got it running on 1 for now, haven't tried to OC yet but so far I'm really pleased. Haven't even messed with ram voltages but I don't think that will help my faulty stick, board won't do :banana::banana::banana: with that stick installed.
505x8 with 8 gigs of ram with decent 24/7 type volts.3hrs 31minutes prime95 blend and still priming.

Sorry to question about this, but the screen from ORTHOS is really 8.5x500? cause ORTHOS have one problem about the multi, it always set 9.5, so my guess is that you were running 473 FSB, and the voltages doesn`t match with 8.5x500...
I`m looking for stability at 500 FSB multi 8.5 and my voltages are very different from yours...
Should I try to OC this with just one stick of ram? Also my board came with F6 bios.
Thanks
I hate you people :D
clo007,dude i feel your pain.you've probally had by far the worst luck with this board.and i can empathize with on this issue(i had sort of the same luck with my MIIF).i really wish you could have a fully functioning board so you could have the same fun and successes as most user are having.i gave up on the MIIF because of my experience with it and even though i have a new fully functioning one now,i wont use it ,or keep it. mainly because,"frankly" i already have a far superior board in the UD3P.so i guess what im getting at is dont give up on this board just yet,it is worth trying to get one that works.i've been keeping track of your problems for the most part, but is there any way you can do another RMA?if not maybe you can find a used or open box for cheap.i mean it is simply worth trying to get one that works.they are that good.any ways, sorry to hear its still a no go for your board.
I returned the rev 1.1 for a refund and I am stuck with this rev 1.0. I may pull the trigger first on the UD3P. I just wish Gigabyte tech support was more helpful. Here is the chat log with them:
Question - 710351

Question : I have 2 of the same motherboard, a rev 1.0 and a rev 1.1 with the exact same issue. NO matter what I do, or what kind of ram or size of the modules, I can only run 1 stick.
If I try to install both sticks, my computer just power cycles, never getting to the bios screen. As soon as I pull a stick out and run 1 stick, it boots up perfectly. With one stick i can even OC my Q9550 to 471x8.5 on stock voltage.
I have 5 different sets of ram I have tried:
GSkill Pi 2x2gig ddr2-8800 5-5-5-15 1.8-1.9v
GSkill Black Pi 2x2gig ddr2-6400 4-4-4-12 1.8-1.9v
GSkill 2x1gig ddr2-6400 2BHZs 4-4-4-12 2.1v
Crucial Ballistixs 2x1gig ddr2-6400 double sided modules 4-4-4-12
Crucial Ballistixs 2x1gig ddr2-6400 single sided modules 4-4-4-12 2.2v
All 5 sets pas memtest. All 5 sets do the same thing. 1 stick in it runs fine. both sticks in, it power cycles.
I also have found out other people are having the same issues. You can visit http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...205132&page=61 and www.tweaktown.com to see others with the same issues.
Answer : Do not perform any overclocking and leave all setting at default, are there any issue operating with more than one module at default setting?
We are unable to guarantee any results off from overclocking

Question : At default clocks it does not run on two modules. I thought it could be my power supply but it is not. I ahve been reading on the xtremesystem forums and tweaktown forums that others are having the exact same issue. I have a rev 1.0 and 1.1 boards with the exact same issue.
Answer : You had also tried lowering the spec of the memory as well?
Try testing with value ram instead of high performance memory also
Question - 712506
From : Chris
Sent : 2/1/2009 06:18
Question : I have lowered my GSkill 8800s to 800mhz speeds and nothing worked. I switched out to my 800mhz ram and it doesnt work.
You are now suggesting I go buy value ram to try and see if it will run on a motherboard made to handles DDR1333?
Answer - 712506
Answer : The chipset can support up to 1333fsb, whether if your memory is fully stable at that particular spec we cannot determine. If you feel the issue is within the board you may send in for us to further examine through the below website
Question - 713893
From : Chris
Sent : 2/4/2009 09:49
Question : If I mail my board to you, are you going to try it with some ram that I have? Or are you going to use some value ram?
I want to know this because I want to see if you can duplicate the issues I am having with my high performance ram and see if there is a solution you can figure out. Since I don't plan to use some value ram, I want to know before i waste my time and money to ship the board to you, that ya'll will look into this ram issue with some ram that is comparable to the one's I own.
Answer - 713893
Answer : We will test with the memory which we have on our lab, we do not have all memory on the market to test with. Since we do not have your memory we are unable to verified your memory
From : Chris
Sent : 2/10/2009 10:22
Question : Are you looking into this issue, as many people are having the same issue as me? Also, any idea of a updated bios or possible beta bios I could try out?
Answer - 716872
Answer : This is not an known issue, since we do not have your memory we cannot determine the stability of your memory which you are using. Do try testing at an lower frequency first to see if it'll improve on stability
Question - 717434
From : Chris
Sent : 2/11/2009 08:24
Question : I have tried running it at 667mhz and it still will not run with 2 sticks of ram. I am capable of getting two sticks to run in single channel mode by using memory slots 1 and 2.
Answer : If you feel that the issue is the board you may send in for further examination. Refer to the below link to submit your rma request

i just read it from the top down to the bottom and thought to myself, "what the #$#@" are these support guys braindead.then when i got to the bottom i see the statement to start at the bottom, makes more sense now. well here is a good priced UD3P.
http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=MB-E45UD3P
Running G.Skill F2-8500CL5D 2x2gb. Put them in yesterday and doing fine at 1130mhz 5:6devider 471x8.5. Would be glad to post a Palate of my settings for you if someone can tell me how lol. Also ran 2x2gb of mushkin pc28000's no issues other than the ram wouldn't oc.
EDIT: Sorry man i didnt see the ud3r, thought you were on the ud3p.
lol, ok updated chat log to read top to bottom.
I am pissed that they say it is not a known issue but everyday i go to tweaktown there is a new thread about someones UD3P or UD3R not running in dual channel, boot cycling, etc!!!
Thanks for the the link. I was actually on newegg about to buy the UD3P. Has a rebate to make a bit cheaper then the ewiz one. I may get another PSU too, probably the 620HX.
OC nub, thanks but I am looking for people with the UD3R boards.
Sorry if I missed it...have you tried several BIOS versions and another power supply?
Tried f4, f5, f6 all with same results. I have a rev1.0 now and returned the rev 1.1 after it had the same issues. I don't have another PSU. I have talked to alot of people and they say my PSU should be fine. It is over 2 yrs old now, but I can still overclock the hell out of this mobo, proc, and ram(well one stick). I don't see how adding one more stick would make the PSU fail. I am hesitating to buy another PSu just b/c that's another $150 out of pocket if it is not the issue. I am thinking of buying a UD3P this time, and see what happens. IF it fails again, then it will have to be the PSu. At least if I get the UD3P and it doesn't work right, I can return it for a refund again.
513x8 ddr1026 pl9 8GB of ram,4hrs prime 95 blend stable.had to raise some voltages(cpu vcore-1.375 and vtt-1.36 and mch-1.40)to get it stable.

the everest scores are a little low.wondering has any one tried messing with the pull-ins and ups?i want to give it a try but not sure on how to go about it.is there any thing i should know or should i just start advancing them one by one?could use some advice.thanks.

I play a lot to use all my ram kit install in this board total 8 GIG differnce spec as my Sig . found some
weird issue when I reduce Mch Dram Ref to lowest I got more stable. and I try MCH dram Ref set at default (0.9) It's become very unstable for me when I try around 540. Before this result I try a lot to get
540 -545 -550 with all that I can try no hope to success. I 'm not sure how far my RAM can go. Have to test it a lot....next I 'll play with Ch A and Ch B Reference Volt........May be some one can try out this weird stuff.
Note: I back to F4 Bios just only feel It can success easier more than other.
very nice BuGjAE.that is impressive for 8gigs. also thanks for the info on the dram/ref-voltage,im going to mess with this and other things in the bios and see if there are way to gain more stability and maybe squeeze out some more performance with the memory scores.i'll post back my findings.again great job there on that OC
@BuGjAE
Nice everest score
I suppose you need that high MCH core volt, but man thatīs high, whatīs your temp on that MCH?
I have just below 50C with original heatsink/heatpipe (TIM replaced) at 1,34 with my Q9650@500 4,0GHz and 4x2 ram@1000 555 15.
I think vMCH 1.60 is not high temp with this Board I see only 44 C in ET6 even when full load orthos (may be cause a 2OZ feature???I think),I know it's quiet high but I don't know exeactly what vMCH
should hold 8 GIG PL9 :D stable ,I 'll down it later.
But I'm confident about MCH/DRAM Reference go lowest It's help me a lot.
I have 4 sets of 2x1 DDR2 and none of them work in dual channel.
