ur ram should be fine as long as their not too hot:D, as long as their cool it shouldn't be a problem

Newegg dont ship internationally do they......
Well, I am not sure what to get tbh, Im not sure whether its worth getting some relaly good RAM, (D9 stuff), although that G.Skill, while im saving £42, (and it stil costs that much!) does seem like a really good deal.
Although, I still dont know whether to get 2 or 4 gb....
Im really not sure, partly coz Im not sure what CPU i will be getting, wolfdale/yorkfield yes, (i7 is too much), but I dont know what one, all depends on if I can find one for cheaper, in a sale or whatever....
By the way, im not sure about vista yet, and why wont i be able to get past 3.5 on 32 bit? with which RAM/cpu???
Thanks for all your help.
hes talking about the computer will only see 3.5gb ram you can clock your cpu up as high as you can and it will see it right but with ram 32 bit can only use 3.5gb. also whenn buying ram 2x2gb sticks are far better than 2x1gb stick you get more for the same amount of northbridge stress. I say for this board get a wolfdale like E8500 or E8600 and 2x2GB or Gskill or dominators.
Oh, I knew wondows would only see 3.5gb, I was getting worried I wouldnt be able to overclock!
So, going for the 4gb,
Im looking at these: (having read around a little)
http://www.memoryc.com/computermemor...pc28000pq.html
Any other reccomendations?
I have been looking at the e8500, ( the e8600 is another £40 or so, and I didnt think it was worth it, considering im only on air cooling, and it will be my second overclock, :D)
Thanks
Can someone help me out with setting to get my Q9450 to 8x500. Right now Im 3d stable at 475x8. My settings are
CPU +.150
DDR +.300
Chipset +.275
FSB .250
GTL Ref
.63
.63
.64
VVT 1.6
Then the other clocks are fir cpu and mch.
200
400
1000
Thanks Guys!
@chad
did you take a sample of the first page of the thread?
if not Ace-a-Rue maybe can give a hand with
he helped me out alot with my E8400 setting..
I'm new to this board myself..
Pretty good choice in memory..I believe those will work out..I hate to see uQuote:

spend that type of money over seas for the same..I can get for $44.99 &
free shipping.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231145
but shipping is what cost more to ship over seas and philbrown23 is right
on a 32bit operational sytem it will only see 3.5gbs now if you had Windows
Xp Professional 64bit it will see all your ram..
I can't agree on the E8500 I would say the E8400 reasoningQuote:

is Price differents why should you pay $29 or $30 more for
.16 ghz more? they Oc the same they are the same to me
but.. i payed $149.99 + taxs at mico center for mine.
this newegg link below Compares them in price
and $29 or $30 could be a (Burner or something else)

But..I do agree with you on the memory selection:up: he can
always upgrade to 64bit OS later and Quad core:yepp:
Hi,
a little development, my friend is looking at buying some new RAM, (PC6400), and I found these:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143844
Which I think is a great deal, and so was wondering, should I get a set aswell, rather than the G.Skills,
And, a little more on topic, would you reccomend the HP, or the proper version?, Is it worth the extra £30...?
Thanks
Right, i have a 4x1GB set of on tracers crucial Ballistix DDR2 8500 too that also did not even boot with my system, showing an E1 code on the 7 segment leds, so i go for Corsair Dominators 8500 and it run prety well at first try, but cant get at specs 1066 yet, i think because this mobo cant handle in most cases the higher frequencies we see in another ones and have to stuck at the DDR2 1000 limit. I'm running my system here like writed in sign and full stable. The max i get with some unstabilities was as seen on screen and didnt try to raise voltagem beyound that:
http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/870...4112md2.th.jpg
I haven't had a problem with my G.Skill at all.
DDR2-1000
http://www.myalbumbank.com/albums/us...4-25stable.jpg
DDR2-1036
http://www.myalbumbank.com/albums/us...rimestable.jpg
DDR2-1068
http://www.myalbumbank.com/albums/us...ghz-stable.jpg
DDR2-1100 is fine as well, but I don't have a SS of it unfortunately. That's as high as it'll go with 5's & 2.1v. I played around and managed DDR2-1128 at the same Vdimm but it took 6-7-7-24 to do it. Haven't tried over 2.1v yet, but we all know 2x2G don't OC all that well.
GueD'S - there must be something else. I could run my OCZ KIT @ 650 Mhz - before that mobo, my (their) record was 640 Mhz.
And that mobo is holding the FSB WR - because the lowest multy is 1:1 and the record is 740+ Mhz, ......
Yes, but i'm complaining about mem freq. my crucial ballistix PC8500 can do 1400FSb in older mobo (P5K Deluxe) and didnt even boot with biostar, and corsair dominators run below default specs and when running at default gets instabilities without touching mobos settings. Here i could do 533 in mobo fsb but mems voltages had to be very high (didnt remember nunmber now) to achieve that, and mobos voltages almost at default. All due to the lowest multi 1:1 if we have a lower multi we could raise mobo's fsb easily, or a better mem compatibilitie. I think the mobo's fsb could be better (higher) if it haven't these issues with mems.
To add, i have a set of OCZ Platinum Edition Rev2.0 DDR2 1000 2x2GB that can't do it's default specs :( shurely this is a mobo issue with mems.
i could not get my corsair dominators at specs either...i got to 1100 mhz instead of 1142 mhz...BUT...it was very similar to what i got on the Abit IP 35 Pro board...on that board, i maxed out around 1086 mhz...al ot has to do with how much voltage you are willing to dump on your hardware.
hey: like your signature:up:...very cute little guy there!;)...is that your child?

The avatar is the "angry/evil baby" :D

So soon i will have one of these babies aswell...im keeping my expectations high
I think this mobo does have issues running some brands of memory. My newer revision Reapers run fine but my HyperX and Patriot Viper don't like running high frequencies on this board. I think my Cell Shocks are okay but I'll need to run more tests. I think I've seen "philbrown23" do some screenshots in this thread with the same model Cell Shocks.
I'm still waiting for a new bios...
Some posts back I think there was a link for a beta bios and there was a mention of additional RCOMPS in it.
Come on Biostar bring it on!
Last official bios was back in July.... been a Loooooong time.....LOL
Beta BIOS if you're interested. (Thank Lv for that. :) )
For what they're worth: Comments post #1, Comments post #2.
When I received that BIOS from Biostar Tech, they said it was for the option of turning off the Pata controller, but obviously a couple adverse things were added in addition to that. I too found it not as stable as the official version 710.
I think what most of us are expecting from a newer version of official bios release is more memories compatibilitie, and an option to raise mobo's fsb keeping the mem freq, like 600 fsb with mems in 500, so we can run mems with poor specs and still get more juice from mobo, till now and with good mems we can't raise mobo's fsb because mem issues, as said, even with some brands that we have sure that run at good freqs we are having trouble. An exemple of it is my ballistix PC8500 kit, i never boot at least one unique time just to tell it run on this mobo, and i saw many people with the same kit running smooth, who can explain it??? New optimized bios NOW!! That's a chance Biostar is missing to raise its reputation and keeping the situation like this, only make them loose it.
Sorry about my english
You can't go lower than 1:1 on an Intel chipset. That's not a Biostar issue, that's on any board.
GueD's - you need 600 + power pack
http://static2.nagi.ee/i/p/341/6/08526603310419_o.jpg
I can't get any audio on this board :( I've tried installing drivers in both Vista and XP and it never find any audio device. I checked through the BIOS and couldn't find any settings. Is there a jumped I need to set?
Edit: I found the setting in the BIOS under SB, and HDA is set to "enabled" yet still no audio device is found in Windows after installing the drivers
make sure you are using the correct rear panel sound output port for your speakers...i presume you are using dual speaker system so you want to use the light green port...refer to page 5 of your manual, section "1.4."
if that does not work, do the clear CMOS.
I picked up a new cpu on Black Friday. It looks like it can do around 500x9 with +0.150v vcore. Today I was doing some initial exploration with +0.250v vcore. I usually start testing chips on the TPower which makes for a more apples to apples comparison since it was my first P45/Wolfdale combo. (I'm using the Xigmatek with OCZ PC2-8500)
Ghost: do you have a front-panel header connected? If so, does it work properly?
Front-panel is installed, still no sound from it. Same results with using the green output on the back.
I installed the ATI HDMI drivers from Realtek and now it looks like this. Still no sound coming from the motherboards sound device.
have u tryed to put the cd in that came with the board and right click on
the ethernet controller and hit update drivers?
if your having issue with your board on the Drivers here's the direct link below Rev 1.0
that can help you out on keeping them...

don't give up yet hopefully it will turn out your sound and audio devices prop
should look like this

i know when i plug in something in the front panel or in the rear
this pops up
http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/1...oftwarevk9.jpg
and have the volume control on my task bar along with Realtek HD Audio
Manager...
Your really having a major driver issue:yepp:
That program you have doesn't pop up when I plug my headphones or desktop speakers in. Although I know the one you're talking about because my Asus P5Q Pro had it.
looks like some bad drives cause your (sound recording)is not even install
like mine and it not even lit up at all...
i was reading on the drive you have on this site here
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOU...iver-159.shtml
you need to try install the same drives that..I have and the realtek Hd Audio
Manager:yepp:
Did a clean install of Windows, then installed all the drivers off the CD. Still no dice. I would think if the sound device was fried, it would at least allow drivers to install, but then just not function. Instead, its not being visible at all in Windows...
By the picture you posted of device manager, windows is seeing it......
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...1&d=1228756993
Well about all you can do at this point is have a look at the screen during boot where it lists all the devices attached, see if the onboard audio is listed. Use the pause key if its flashing by too fast. If its not listed then I'd say the board is bad. I'm sure you have it enabled in BIOS......
yours to mine this how it should look

where the black arrow is pointing that's what this is below
http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/1...oftwarevk9.jpg
your system is asking for this to be installed(driver) to work:yepp:
I always install my video card drivers last:yepp:
I see that. This is what mine looks like after installing that.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...1&d=1228762989
Alright I installed a 9400GT (POS nVidia card) and its still not letting me install the audio drivers correctly. I'm just gonna RMA this sucker.
ghost_recon88, first of fix all the question marks in the device manager.
Now, how you connect the computer to your speakers ? (write all the details)
Can you connect the cable to yours ipod or another computer to make sure all the system (cable+ receiver + speakers) are working fine ?
New version of Tpower2 released today (well, yesterday). Thanks for pointing that out Lv!
What improvements do the new rev have over the old? Doesn't seem to be listed in the biostar webby
Good question. No readme in the directory and I haven't the time to play with it yet, sorry.
I hope they finally fixed the automatic shut down I have reported.
Expl: If the CPU temp is under zero Celcius, that MB can not read it. And if you start that program, it reads something like + 250c  And shuts the PC down to prevent overheating. It is not possible to ignore that setting. At leat it was not possible to do so with previous rev.
what?! i was planning on getting this board.. now that automatic shutdown is making me think twice. Is there anyway to rectify the problem?
Ahhh!:D
Hello i am having some problems with overclocking my E8500 to 500 fsb 8x multiplier. Its a very weird problem. I am using ibt to test my overclock. In a nutshell anytime i reach a "stable" overclock with ibt ( i conclude this by passing 100 times with maximum stress on vista 64) then when i unplugg my power supply and wait several seconds then replug, then i re test with the exact same configurations i end up failing ibt.
My first settings were
fsb 502
ddr is at 503 frequency 5,5,5,15
.200 cpu voltage
.250 ddr voltage (running gskill pc-8500) enough to give it 2.1 voltage
.275 motherboard voltage
.275 fsb voltage
core ref voltage were both at .63
cpu pll at 1.6
everything else on auto.
I tested this configuration and it was 100 percent stable. i tested ibt and it passed 30, 50, and two 100 tests. Then when i unplug my power supply and re test, my cpu requires my fsb voltage to be stable. I have so far risen my fsb voltage to .325 and my motherboard voltage to .300. Cause each time i make a small raise and test i become stable, but whenever i unplug and re test i have to do something different in my bios to make it stable. Not sure whats the problem.
Anyone heard about this before?

Apologies for the slight thread de-rail lol.
Aye agree besides later on next year we have the equivelant P45 chipset for Nahelem.
From a gaming perspective, I'm going to stick with Penryn for the time being.
Around Q3 2009 we have Core i5 'Lynnfield' & 'Havendale' being released on slot LGA-1156, from what I've read will be dual DDR3 slots i.e. dual channel.
http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/6...admap01ga5.jpg
you are not de-railling the thread;)
i agree with you not upgrading!
the X58 and i7 core cpu are a nice combination if you are not intending to overclock very high.
i think it is a wee-bit to expensive (not necessarily a waste of money) to upgrade...for me, i do not play games so it is nuts & bolts operation for me..i mean: i have it all with the IP35 and and a QX9650...why spend a good amount of money on a low to maybe a slightly better bump in overall speed!
Another negative.
Biostar never update their bios :(.
not true!...look at this link to see how many bioses were issued before the 710 bios: http://www.lejabeach.com/Biostar/TPI45/
Ya, but where have then been since July????? LOL
eh, who knows...i guess they think 710 is good enough for the general population.;)
Sorry but tbh, this board doesnt near compare to my DFI P35 LP UT T2R...i was able to run FSB's of 570 to 585 doing superspi...and my temps were alot better.
I've got this board now and i really dont like the voltage increments at all...the jump between them is too much.,.. seriously .300 to 400 wtf.
I was able to run less than 1.5v for 570fsb on my DFI...this one im there and struggle to even get 550fsb into windows....
DFI FTW, wish i could have gotten another one...
the Biostar is a budget board that is decent in overclock and performance...don't know why you can't get 550 stable...look at the first page of this thread where i posted my bios shots of an E8500 at 550 FSB (prime certified) and a 9650.
have you removed all the heatsinks on the Biostar to upgrade the TIM...the TIM on the PWM mosfet is pathetically inadequate...i replaced all the pins/springs with a bolts/nuts (better clamp down action)...see my link in my signature for the correct size....Abit's IP35 Pro had problems until i did the bolt and TIM mod on the heatpipe system for that board...after accomplishing it, i saw more stability in my overclock.
Yea Ace i replaced the thermal stuff with proper thermal paste....i will get nuts and bolts...for now im just using the springs... seem fine... check this

Hi all..Just got one of these based on this thread and Ive had 27 blue screens in two days trying to LOAD XP !!
It just wont load.
Blue screens vary from drivers, ram to irql or something not equal to some thing else..
Ive changed from 3.4G Pentium D to Q6600 , ram from 1G to 4g`s, ddr2- 667 to ddr2-800 , Corsair to teamXtreme`s..Upped voltages etc etc and still no go.
Im now RMA,ing the board thinking the problem may be with the board..
Anyone shed some light on this for me please?
Found a Googled topic of something similar where the problem was bad soldering on the board..
Cheers from Africa.
Try playing with the GTL's and also u need to put the CPU shew to 200
Try setting the MCH GTL Ref to .59. I've not been able to OC either of the CPUs that I've had on this board very far without adjusting that setting from Auto. The settings on the first page of this thread should be a good starting point, though I've not gone as high as he did with the NB and memory voltages.
--Matt
any ideas guys?
i cant go more than 450x9
i tried 500x8 and it wouldnt save the setting i did
I have i of these boards coming that I got in the for sale section. I am going to have to read through this thread for sure. Going to set it up as cruncher.
Is there a new rev out by Biostar? I am asking because when I had mine (rev 5.1), there was no problem at all to boot and run SPi 32M @ 620 FSB. I didn't try Orthos (that was not my 24/7 PC). But at this moment, members are already have problems with 450+ FSB!
im doing 500x8 just fine here
535x8.5 no problem here.
And then 590....Still Ace the voltage im putting into my hardware...using Air on the NB and water on the CPu is insane
http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/1333/590uj2.th.jpg
@mattkosem
tqs matt
ive set the mch gtl ref value to auto for the time being
i did try out .59 and .61...but neither passed for stability at 444x9
but nvm.....i'l b experimenting on it more once i get home from work today :)
p/s: i heard that V5.0 is supposely better than 5.1 (the one im using) as ive heard that a few other members also has sum problems oc'ing wit v5.1 ....... but it is yet to be proven
I must chime in and say that it all depends on the user and their goals with this board. Most of the hype was generated by huge fsb and 1m overclocking, and most of those records still stand. There is not any other system including any x58 that can touch this board in 1m except the DFI P45 Plus, which is about the same if you know how to tweak.
On the other hand, it's pretty damn easy to setup a good OC for 24/7. I literally beat the crap out of this board this summer freezing it to an ice block during 8 hour sessions many times, and it still clocks like day one. Maybe I go a lucky board, but I don't know, I think it's pretty awesome. My other two favorite boards in the rotation are the Rampage Extreme and the DFI LP UT P35 T2R, both of which are great. The vcore grnularity is my only gripe but it's not a deal killer. I would not waste my time to bench DDR2 Core2 on any other board with LN2.
Hi five biostar.
