anyone with a newer Conroe batch please post your Overclock, voltage under load and batch please :)
newer batches have been bad for me, other people have had good ones, but most are bad.
So, from when is it called a new batch? a little more specific plz
Well I don`t know anything over 35 maybe .. my brother`s 32 is good but I do not know when they started getting worse
E6600 L636A229:
3.5GHz @ 1.413V ORTHOS 10h+ @ 52ºC.
3.6GHz @ 1.47V ORTHOS 8h+ @ 58ºC.
Watercooling.
vCore measured with DMM.
E6600 L644G280
3.8ghz @ 1.60 (Vdroop) 51c
4.0ghz @ 1.70 (vdroop) not stable at all :)
think maximum is somewhere between 3.8 - 3.9 ghz
all is on watercooling, i will by a Striker board soon and will see how it works on that, with some more vcore! :)
Infa,
I assume that 51ēC @ 3.8ghz 1.6v is an idle temp?
my new E6300 is pretty bad. cant really get more than 2.91
That's very impressive temps you got there.
What's your ambient?
You using Coretemp or what for the temp readings?
The "G" batches seem to be very good
You must be running in 10c ambient and have ice water in your loop for those temps with 1.6 vcore.
L64F040 SL9ZL Malay from newegg about 2 weeks old
about 3.2ghz max with 1.5v vcore (:banana::banana::banana::banana:ty)
[XC] 4X4N,
OR he's using an inaccurate temp monitor software.
nah 1.6v 50c load seems right on the spot with good watercooling gear.
Im running 1.655v and idle around 36/40 core1/core2 (coretemp or intel tat)
with load @ 55-58c this with fairly low ambients though 19-20c running dual sp2004 blend prio 9 or 100% load with intel tat for 12hours+
wc gear in sig
yeeep, iam having good gear, look at my sign.
and no , not faulty monitoring programs, iam using Coretemp 0.95 (latest)
and TAT and everest, tat is showing a TAD bit higher temps, but also lower LOAD temps, soo iam just trusting coretemp. and idle is at TOTAL idle 20c, and surfing and usual use its about 25.
my ambient is 20c soo .. and its lapped, dont think it did so much..but anyway cant hurt :)
but i want to get higher, can boot and load windows at 4ghz, but it needs more vcore! and p5b is not giving any more than 1.7....soo striker is coming up! :D
Regards
Hmm.. I got a week 32 chip, so I don't know.. :P
Hasn't Intel made any in 2007? If they have made E6600 chips will the stepping then be L7xxx?
Wow, very nice temps and overclock Infa. It would be amazing if you could hit over 4.0 on the Striker with your setup. :toast:
Infa,
Where did you buy your D-Tek FuZion? I'm feeling it's time to upgrade my cpu block.
:D
why would it be amazing? :)
it boots and crashes at 4ghz when iam trying to stress it ...and it can handle surfing and superpi at it... its that tad of vcore it needs to be stable! 1.80 maybe! and it wont overheat at it either ...so i dont see the problem, just happiness :D well well ..sallory isnt due to 25:th so i will have to hold my horses until then :) cheers!
Largon,
I did buy it from petra's aswall as the mcw60 block.
maybe iam in for the Apogee GTX block, but i want to see nikshub's testing first to be really sure :) i have become OC addictive! hehehe this is bad for my karma and economy :P
yep , my E6600 L628B (B = HOT) with 130uros watercooling Kit
E6600@ 3600mhz --- Temps FULL
http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/4...sorthoscz0.jpg
Ontopic: anyone already tested a L639F ????
regards
Those are extremely LOW temperatures for full load... omg.... what wc kit is it anyway? specs plz :D
and IHS still on? :p:
largon vcore.dk has the d-tek fuzion a little closer to where you live = ) about 100$ though :(
And Coolerkit.dk has the GTX :)
and well with 3.6 i can lower my vcore to that too! :D heh and get that temps! OC it over that vcore and he will NOT get that TEMP! :D
Great.. thanks for the results, I am probably going to go with a 6700 or 6600.. wonder if the newer 6700 batches clock well or are Vcore hungry
7638A@3.6 load vcore1.50 and 1.55 in bios
http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/2...rimeac8.th.jpg
Ambient ~19c
Wonder why it is like that, the newer the cpu is the worse it clocks and needs more vcore?! the closer its release date the better it clocks, i have been pretty lucky i guess with week 44 ...can go 3.6 with 1.40ish
Heh nice thread .. now i see that my E6400 isn't as bad as i think. It's stable on 3960Mhz with 1.7V(vdrop) on AIR (you don't wanna know how :D). The max is 4160 but it restarts on loading windows ... I have to make vmod on my motherboard and test it on 1.8V :p:
EDIT: lol I forgot it's L629A910 revision 001 ... 2M
I've got myself a L635A533
it does 3200MHz at 1.28V (1.24V in windows), guess im lucky I didn't bought one later.
L632A896
lapped
watercooled
9x333 = 3000MHz @ 1.216v (1.200 with droop)
dual prime95 48 hours stable
Idle temps 29 cpu / 42 both cores
full load 39 cpu / 49 both cores
Could not get to 3600MHz even with 1.46 volts.
Week 32
3.6 @ 1.3875 Voltage in BIOS
Idle is around 35 celc. and full load 50-55 celc. (Water cooled)
This is my new 24/7. I did however try some fancy stuff back when it was still cold outside (and so was my rig :) ) As you can see, -1 celcius outside.
The latencies were VERY loose, so the superPi results are not groundbreaking.....
http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/5...rpi32mjrg2.jpg
Well, I thought what the heck. I'm now benching 9x400 = 3600MHz with 1.465v after droop. So far 30min dual prime95 stable.
I had week 42, could clock it up to 3.066 at stock volts 1.325, stock cooler, I think it topped out around 3.2-3.3ghz, week 30 B chip runs 3.6 at 1.4vcore, 52C load with watercooling, 8hours orhtos stable. I tried 3.8 with 1.55 vcore, 64C load too much for my taste :)
this is my E6600 max stable 3.55 at 1.45v I try 3.6 with up to 1.57v and but no way can't make it stable :(
http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/1369/e6600ag3.th.jpg
I broke the good e6600 in my sig while removing the IHS, just got this, 7638A760 and it does 3600 at 1.46vcore (bios). temps are good, idles 25 deg and 40 load
I recently bought a xeon 3060 . The batch number if i recall right is 7640A .
I really had a hard time finding a stable OC . and with stable i mean stable .
Lots of times i've seen orthos small fft crash after 12 -16h or more .
I can post at very high frequencies (3.9ghz) with a 'passive' cooled scythe ninja . The cpu never reboots or blue screens and almost always posts . but to get it orthos stable is just not possible and requires crazy voltages .
I'm now at 3290mhz (470x7) with 1.4 in bios . (1.329 load)
the board is a DS3 rev 3.3 .
anyway , to get like lets say 100-200mhz more out of it , i have to up voltage to 1.5 in bios . and even then it will error after 15+ hours orthos .
really hard to find a stable freq .
my E6300 L629B was alot easier and did 3430 mhz with 1.475 in bios (1.39 load). when it wasn't stable it would just blue screen/reboot or not post at all .
Seems like the newer batches might have a chance of getting some nice clocks..
Hmm.. maybe i will try a E6420.:woot:
week 37A
max stable is 3.5Ghz (1.42v real),can't get 3.6g stable at all
bad bad bad
uhhh... i like to see your chip do 1.34V @ 3.6ghz.
im kinda amazed at that chip myself.
But he has absolutely no Vdroop. So im guessing a Vdroop mod??
L631B here:
http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...lipboard02.jpg
ummmmm i think her upper limit is 3.750 @ 1.6V i dont want to go any higher.
http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/8...0042mo4.th.jpg
http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/Shot0042.jpg
E6600 L631F (yeah F sucks) ambient 23C(getting hot here in Cali)
thats 1.67V set in bios ... how much it droop i dunno PC Probe says 1.63, 1.62v.. while Everest/Speedfan says 1.54v .. which i dont think that a boaard can droop .13v ... anyway load 57C, idle was like 32C i forgot doesnt matter ..
heres one with Asus PC Probe:
http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...Shot0056-1.jpg
blend means nothing ... that temp was prolly the lower one ... blend has 2 phases .. 1 stresses CPU which is 5C higher, and 2 stresses RAM which is lower .. blend just switches between the 2
oh yeah i did 5 hours of orthos small fft couple days ago .. but forgot to screenshot it
234234
If you can, avoid these new batches.
I tested L640A quickly and it was orthos stable at 3.4GHz with 1.41V (watercooled)
Max clock with colder water (22 c) was 4GHz:
Attachment 57843
With dry ice this s**t did only 4.3GHz no matter what voltage I used.
No wonder why prices are dropping in this month :(
Still no reason to complain imho
hey largon i bought mine from overclock-uk really good store. usually takes 2 days by royal air mail to reach me ( live in joensuu= alabama of finland:D )
Just got my L647G413 and looks like it is a voltage hog. Need 1.5 for 3.65Ghz, but not for sure yet. Passed an hour of orthos so far.
Gonna start with high volts and ween it down.
Here is my 29B, I am not super impressed
oh sorry my voltage was 1.45V after dropp it comes out to 1.4V
Currently dual primeing 8x500, 1.648v after droop. This is just madness. Any lower voltage and either prime95 would just not run even for 1 minute. Load temps 46c for both cores (ambient temp 3c)
Nope, crash after 30 mins. It's not worth it. Crappy conroe I've got.
Gonna sell my L647G413. Looks like it is stable @ 3.6 with 1.51Vcore, running 1066 strap ram @ 1ghz. But I found a L629A that has seen 4ghz on mild watercooling. Gonna see what I can do with it :)
L640A - hit 3.0Hz before having to up vcore from 1.325. Need 1.55 to maintain orthos stability at 3.4GHz.
These new batches stink! I wish I would have jumped on the bandwagon earlier.
Jeez..my L628A266 is not good at all
I need 1.525 v bios setting/powerslope on..DMM idle/load is 1.5v to hit 3500
I would love 3600 at same vcore but it just reboots 3Dmark05..which a real quick test of stability if you use cpu test 1 & 2
that sounds like my 29A .. very poor as well .. found the sweet spot at 3.3 1.42V loaded
man I am getting scared seeing all these new batches
Just bought a E6600 L651B588 and was able to reach 3.35ghz with stock voltage but crashes upon starting Orthos. Runs 3.2 stable on stock voltage.
Currently doing Orthos at 1.50volts at 3.53ghz. 1.55volts at 9x400=3.6ghz errored in 5 minutes.
Running on Gigabyte DS3 revision 3.3 motherboard with F11A bios and TT Big Typhoon and open case.
I must be the first person here with a batch that is in 2007.
E6600 L707A625
I have no idea how I got this batch. It says pack date of 4/17/07, that's madness! Intel put this processor on an airplane and flew it to Seattle where it ended up at Fry's!
Well, it kind of sucks. I'm trying to do Orthos on it at 3.40ghz with 1.52V (1.46 after Vdroop) and so far it's run 10 minutes without crashing. It was failing after 6 seconds (!!!) of Orthos at 3.6 and it failed after 3 minutes of Orthos at 3.44.
I'm not real optimistic at this point. Temperatures are through the roof, I have Scythe Ninja (original version) and 120x38mm 88cfm Panaflo and I'm getting 60C during this Orthos run with ambient at 35C. I don't think this is safe for everyday use. Oh well. Gotta keep burning away I guess.
I sure hope i get a good chip. My E6600 arrives TODAY......
Ordered my chip from Zipzoomfly last Friday (2 day air)
Received Batch: L649G Pack Date 4.12.07
I don't think anyone here as tried a 49G ? I get the rest of the equipment today but won't have my thermalright eXtreme until Thursday.
Mine just arrived at the door from Newegg.
E6600
Received Batch: L64G413
Pack Date: 3/13/07
Along with it was a 2gb dual channel G.Skill kit and an Asus P5N32-E SLI 680i motherboard.
I can't wait to get this up and running! But it's going to have to wait till this evening most likely.
Please post your results. I'm want to know how the latest Newegg chips are doing.
I just got back from Fry's and I picked up an E6600 (got them to price match Micro Center's $236) and I got a L701C326. Never heard of a C so I thought I would get it and tell you guys how it is.
See sig, below, runs rock stable!
Looks like my E6600 L701C is great! I just popped it in with my old E6600 L632A settings and it booted up and is 1 hour prime stable. I am going to turn down the voltage and test a little more.
Oh and BTW, the IHS on the L701C is the flattest I have ever seen. Absolutely flat and makes great contact.
Wow, you got a better one from Fry's than I did. Mine is pretty bad, it did 5 hours of Orthos at 3.36 and then rebooted. Sigh.
Bet your going to be sick when you see this. :( I'll bet they were more then happy to price match for $236.;)
Good thing is that you got a good chip.:D
Yeah, I may have actually had a little something to do with it. I raised hell in the store for the price match then the store manager had to call corporate or something because it was more than 30% reduction and that was at 6:40pm. When corporate saw that Microcenter was beating them badly with price the store manager was told to give me the match then make sure their price was the best on the E6600. The whole process took 2.5 hours in store, ugh. It could have been a coincidence though. Anyway, $36 is not a bid deal to me.
my E6600 batch L641F002 is stable(over 9hrs orthos) at 3.2Ghz with v1.3250. haven't tried to increase the voltage to reach at a higher speed. just for fun tired 3.6Ghz with v1.46, did a superpi run but orthos would give BSOD almost immidiately.
http://img106.imagevenue.com/loc884/..._122_884lo.jpg
E6600 L628F028 (1/23/2007)
3.6Ghz (400x9) @ stock (AW9D-Max, 1.3250v)
4.096Ghz (455x9) @ 1.6250
Cooling: Thermaltake Bigwater 745 (mounted inside CM Stacker T01)
Temps: stock (3.6Ghz) idle = 18~19c
4.096Ghz idle=24~28
I just got mine from newegg. I ordered it this past weekend, the "pack date" on the box is 2/19/07 and the batch # is L629F117
Any good?
I received the same version yesterday from ZZF. I haven't had a chance to install it because I had to RMA my Corsair XMS memory. If you could post your results, I'd appreciate it.
I also ordered another E6600 from Frys.com for a better chance to receive a "good" batch. Who knows tho.
(see sig)
This L707 is from Fry's, pack date 4/17/07.
Well, it seems to be happily burning away at Orthos Small FFTs after 22.5 hours without complaint, 415x8=3320. Voltage sure needs to be high for it to be stable, though. Anything less than 1.5V in BIOS causes Orthos to fail after a few hours or random reboots. This L707 is not a good clocker.
I've booted into Windows at 3.51 and run a Super PI 32M but Orthos fails after just 6 seconds. At 3.40, Orthos works for about 3 minutes and then fails, even after I push the Vcore all the way to 1.525V in BIOS. I really am at a loss what to do. All the mobo voltage settings are maxed, memory at 5-5-5-15-4-30-10-10-10-10 and this memory is more than qualified to do the job.
If I drop multi to 7 instead of 8 and try to boot with 475x7=3320 it won't even POST. This is probably because my NBCC at that multi is (9/7)x475=611mhz. Even with NB Vcore maxed at 1.65V it will not POST. This makes me sad.
Perhaps someone could make a suggestion as to what I could do better to get better OC?
Just got mine, ZZF L651B708, E6700
waiting on the rest,
After reading this thread I guess I'll hold of buying another E6600. I was gonna grab one with the recent price drops.

I just got a e6600 from the same batch (L644G- same as yours?) How is your's doing? I'm stuck waiting until monday for my mobo to arrive :slap:
Why dont all you guys with the newer stepping post your results here

:toast:
I put the rig together this afternoon and am going to play around with the overclocking potential with the stock cooler. My Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme arrives Friday so i can't go too high i'm sure.
Plus this is my first Intel setup since a PIII 733 I had almost a decade ago or whenever they first came out. The overclocking options in the bios on this board are quite extensive. Time for some trial and error!
