Anyone want to bet they'll can the P45 pro and just release the X58? I mean really how much later are going to go, especially since I doubt it would be a lot priced board. Seriously feels like DFI a while back
It's too bad the only mosfet waterblock (that I know of) that will fit on this board is a MIPs cooler, which are hard/expensive to get state side. Always an option though.
Thanks, GeorgeVasil, for the pic. I might be better off researching to find other heatsinks that would fit on SB/mosfets since there will be a portion of the base missing where the pipe normally is. Or i could dremel the ends of the pipe to keep it in there.
I know there are Thermalright sinks that fit the SB, but are there any known heatsinks that fit the MOSFETS?
Go with aftermarket cooling ... dont rely on those "leftovers" of the previous heatsink philosophy. It might do the work when all of them are alltogether connected via a heatpipe but I doubt those heatsinks will be keeping you satisfied for a 24/7 machine
Sup! I cant get my rig game stable. But its ORthos stable .... im kinda stuck here. I've try ICHIO @ 1.70 still crashing. raising ddr to 2.75 still crashing.
I need some advice thx

I doubt if we will ever see these boards from Abit.

Too bad it has to be that way, but that's how it is.
How do 45nm Quads OC/ do in general on this board? Any over all experiences?
quads are more difficult to get real high FSB...generally, you can expect some where between 470 to 485 FSB...it would be VERY rare to get to 500 FSB...i found running around 445 at 9X (default multi for a 9650) worked the best...when i strained to go high on the FSB, it made it a little unstable unless i really poured the voltages on.
i would say to expect about 1000 mhz over the rated mhz of your cpu for a modest overclock with modest voltage increases.
@ smart
I wouldn´t go so far on the vtt. I have an E8400 an it´s most stable with lower vtt. GTL is also an issue. I would try 63% for the wolfdale. My seetings are below. They are 24/7 crunching/gaming stable. To get prime stability I need to increase the cpu vcore to 1.425V. Always remember with the 45nm cores: less voltage is often better
I am having trouble getting Prime 95 stable at 3.72, here are my current settings and a link to my setup. I want to get to 3.8 for crunching but I have hit a road block. It will run at 3.6 fine.
vcore: 1.44 ........ (new setting) 1.46
vcore real: 1.38...... (new setting) 1.40
Buss speed: 436
vMCH: 1.52
vICH: 1.09
Multi: 8.5
Core Speed: 3706
CPU VTT: 1.30
ICHIO: 1.6
CpuGtlref 0/2: 63
CpuGtlref 1/3: 63
PCI-E Clock: 102

Hello Guys !!!
purposely draw this diagram & need help from all experts !!! i have a sound problem if i output my display to my TV, the sounds seems to be like "pak" "pak" CRACKING SOUND every few seconds !!! at first i thought it was my speaker gone bad... but when i output my display to my PC monitor, the annoying sound is gone !!! HELP !!!:ROTF:
http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/7087/cscun0.jpg
note
1. My Audio Cable is good & nicely connected
2. System already updated to latest DRIVERS
3. I'm using a DVI - HDMI adapter to my TV
4. The "Pak" "Pak" sound came out from my Altec Lancing Speakers
5. At first i thought it was my Graphic Card problem (8800GTS 512mb)... now i changed my card to nVIDIA GTX 200 series... still same problem
i would say the DVI to HDMI adapter is the problem.
Can changing the voltages in FanEQ damage your case fans? The low setting is at 8.0V at the moment, is it ok to lower it even further or can it be bad for the fans in any way?
i think it depends on the fan specs...find the specs to see what is the lowest recommended.
The rig in my sig is not the Abit. I have 2 x 1Gb Corsair 6400c4 running at 5,5,5,15 just so there are no issues. This is a cruncher and not a benching system, it has to be stable to do Boinc WCG 24/7 so I run Prime95 small FFT for one hour which is good enough for this project.
@Ace,
I would have thought this 45nm chip would require less voltage at this speed does this seem right to you?
not necessairly when you run P95!...i presume 1.38V is your actual vcore?...is that idle vcore or full load vcore?
what is the diameter of your water cooling lines...how is the temp when you run P95?
if you are crunching 24/7, i would suggest that you back down to 3.6 mhz and accept that as your crunching Mhz.
Vcore seems a bit high for 3.7 on that cpu. Does raising vtt or mch help at all?
Also I keep forgetting that's not a C1 right? Still, most of the warning posts I've read about vtt degrading chips have set an upper limit in the 1.4v area I think, but I can certainly understand being cautious with an expensive cpu like that. You may want to try and find those warning posts and find out.
edit: I still think with some more effort you'll get your 450fsb from that eventually
Ace, really thank you for all the precious advices !
already did research in WHOLE internet... similar problem that might occurs in my abit ip35 pro too... (the "cracking" sound output problem)

The two days ago I replaced my tec's (cpu/gpu) with better quality ones and was running benches for a few hours to check my temps and what not. Last night I went to turn on my rig and it was posting "8.7." which in the manual said something to the effect of "CPU core voltage".
Does this sound like my mobo may be acting up or my CPU? Could this possibly be from some condensation forming? I have been using tec's for nearly 6 months with absolutely no problems and have completely insulated my board, but am open to the fact that I may have missed something when re-sealing my block to my mobo. Thanks
If you haven't already, give old faithful a try (which is usually a given here @ XS, I know):
- Remove power from the system.
- Hit the power button to discharge the capacitors.
- Move the CCMOS jumper (or switch) to the clear position.
- Wait ~30 seconds.
- Place the jumper (or switch) back in the normal position.
- Restore power and boot up immediately into BIOS.
- Select "Load Optimized Defaults" and then set the recommended voltage for your RAM.
- Save & exit.
- On reboot, go directly into BIOS and set any other settings you wish, such as timings for your RAM, boot order, etc.
If that doesn't work, try re-seating the CPU and make sure the socket is dry while you do it.
I tried that last night, and even tried leaving it unplugged with no battery overnight and still no go this morning. As soon as I hit the power button it goes straight to "8.7.", no bios no nothing! I was hoping to not have to tear it apart again as it took me a solid 5 hours to re-do my setup the other day! Considering I never even removed the cpu from the socket while doing so I thought it wouldn't need to be reseated, but will give that a go in the next few days. Thanks for the advice!
Kind-of shooting blindly here. Please supply a complete list of your hardware with makes and model numbers. Folks can better assist you if they know exactly what you're dealing with.

Ok, well, you're not lacking for power, which was my next guess. Perhaps your main PSU has bitten the dust? Since you seem to have a few, try one of the other PSUs on the board to see if it boots up. (Nice system BTW!)
SiG -
For 24/7 BOINC crunching @ 3760 MHz, my settings on sig rig are:
- CPU Core v: 1.37, (1.33 actual in CPU-Z under BOINC or Prime95 load)
- DDR2 v: 1.96 (HWMonitor)
- CPU VTT: 1.10
- MCH: 1.52
- ICH: 1.09
- ICHIO: 1.65
- DDR2 REF:: +2
- CPU GTLREF: 63%
Load temps run low-mid 50's/low 60's C. in fairly warm room (say 75°-80° F.), stable under Prime95, games, BOINC, etc.
BTW...I like the open case! :)
Thanks Ace, I will try those settings and also try lowering the vcore.
Here is a double test bench that I built. The top is a e8500 and the bottom is a Q6600.
http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/4...76largerd5.jpg
looks real NICE!
i've been thinking about building a smaller scale for myself.:yepp:
whats the general rule of thumb for GTLREF? 63% for dual core and 67% for quad? Any other settings i should do for an E8400? Just asking cuz I was getting some random blue screens the past few days and want to bump up a few voltages aside from Vcore which is at 1.325. So far i set the GTLREF downt to 63 from 67, and bumped up the MCH to 1.33 and the ICHIO to 1.6. Any other tweaks I should try?
Still playng - noticed a mix of single and double sided ballistics here - moved the single sided pair to the black slots with good results :)
hello . i have o problem after format my pc go to run a setfsb and not work "Smbus Error" . Why ????? my pc is : abit ip35 pro - cpu 8500 - memory cellshock red Thanks --->

no. i run windows xp 32bit with sp3 . the version of my uguru is the final of original site
http://www.imageshack.gr/files/m7gm0...y8km_thumb.jpg
i see the problem...you have an old, old, old version of Uguru...i think there is 3.108 out...i use 3.107, which works just fine even in vista 64....closing it out in Vista 64 is tricky so i use Task Manager for that operation.
EDIT:...just went to global abit website and i came up with Uguru 3.1.0.9 as the latest Uguru software...you must of used the Uguru off the CD install disc which is really outdated.
http://www.abit.com.tw/page/en/downl...ET_TYPE=LGA775
No my friend. I use the last one version as and the one that you give you . i download from here ftp://ftp.abit.com.tw/pub/download/utilities/uguru/ the last file " 05/06/2008 10:04πμ 8,521,073 uguru3109.zip "
It is rumored that abit is reportedly leaving motherboard business. - nothing on the Abit site yet.
<http://arstechnica.com/journals/hardware.ars/2008/08/11/abit-reportedly-leaving-motherboard-business>
don't know how long support for existing products will continue, since I've got a couple of IP-35 pro boards, and convinced my brother to buy one as well....
Ben
So it turns out the rumors were all true. :( This very much sucks. :shakes:
abit's parent company (Universal Scientific Industrial Co Ltd) apparently did not want abit to continue in the mobo market..abit has made across the board layoffs of engineers...some of those have traversed over to Biostar and DFI
That's just a re-write of an article from last Thursday that people harped on last week. No new information there. Heck, they even linked to the article. Lazy "reporting". I still think they are simply tightening the reigns because of the economic situation. Until the fat lady sings (as in abit confirms this), don't count them out yet. Would hate for these rumors to become self-fulfilling prophesy.
EDIT - I should point out I completely agree it's ridiculous that they haven't released their P45 / P43 chipset boards to the mass market. I'm just not ready to give up on them.
if they are tightening the reins then support, especially bios support will be poor.
If I want to revert back to original settings what is the best way to do it? I want to start over from scratch. thanks.
clear CMOS with the battery out for about 5 minutes...push the power on button for a sec. to unload the 'caps' and unplug your power cord while doing the clearing process.
Hi, I need a new mobo to replace my P5K-E, and was on the verge of getting either an Asus P45 Deluxe or an X38 Max Formula but Ive just spotted a B-grade IP35 Pro for £47 from a reputable retailer here in the UK. It could be a customer return or come OEM you dont know until you receive it. Now Ive never considered an Abit board before but I'm considering buying this as it seems like a bargain.
I dont need xfire but I do need a decent overclocking board for my Q6600. Will also be water cooling the CPU and GPU.
Basically my question is: is this board still worth buying at this price point, or should I just pay the extra and buy a £123 P45 board? I need some views quick as I wanna buy today, and I just dont have the time to plough through this thread. Actually Im taking this thread as a good sign that this board is well supported and popular.
Let me know what you think plz.
a better P45 board is the Biostar TPower I45...the IP35 Pro is a good board but you don't know what you are getting. i.e., problematic board!
For what it's worth, I played with bios #17 for the last week here and I think it really messed up uguru on this version 1.0 board - saw some really weird voltage and temp readings in HWMonitor - did all the stock setting, clear cmos, and pull battery stuff too (even d/l it a couple times and reflashed) - bios #16 is working fine on first try
i'm still running bios 11 from when i first built my box with an ip35 (nonpro) last year. therefore, i still have the double-post issue but i rarely shut my machine off so i don't mind it too much.
what bios do you guys recommend i run for the most stable release and obviously getting rid of the double post which i think they fixed in v12? i don't really plan on adding any new hardware anytime soon so i don't necessarily need any added compatibility or fixes. my system thus far has been rock solid.
intel e6850
nvidia 8800gts

thanks :)

Perhaps the rumors of Abit's demise were premature.....
I am running bios 17 and my cpu temp is stuck at at 103c!
cores are 37c idle on my new E8600.....man these chips run hot when pushed..
What's the newest beta bios for this board now? Any links to bioses? My board has gone completely tits-up, so I need to try something else.
Perhaps I should try one of those Biostar motherboards while I await Nehalem. Hm....
I don't know your level of expertise. The fact that your asking worries me. If you haven't flashed the board many times and feel confident about flashing, you should not flash any at all....
 I was just asking for some recommandations. I haven't flashed the board in a while so I'm out of the loop of what's good and what's not. I've flashed the board about a billion times in the past, but I've been away from my computer for 3 months now.
In either case. I flashed to the latest official bios, and now I'm not allowed to enter the bios after I've disabled the full screen logo. Great! :ROTF:
Edit: fixed that by using a PS/2 keyboard. Odd. Oh well.
OK, sounds like you know the risks then :)
Everyones system is different, so it's had to say what will be the best for you. I had good luck with the 17 final, and mainly played with the 17 mods and their very interesting added Items.
Yeah no problem. I'm priming with the final bios now to see how things go. I've had the board do this to me before too, but then I finally managed to stabilize things, and it was rock stable for around 8 months. In my experience the board can be a bit quirky from time to time. And it doesn't seem to like my new 4870x2 either. Ah well, if I can't get things to work the way I want I may get one of those Biostar Tpower P45 boards to test. Would be fun to get something new anyway.
Hi,
I have this interesting situation. I have been using Abit IP 35 Pro for almost a year. I had 2 500GB hard drives in RAID 1 configuration (made 2 partitions one for system and another for other stuff). I recently purchased a 640gb WD drive and also wants to use this drive in the computer. This is the configuration I want to use:
640 GB WD drive as C - SYSTEM drive (around 100gb)
as D - DOWNLOADS (around 500gb)
2 500 GB drives in RAID 1 for PERSONAL stuff. I have been trying to set up like this and I am not able to do so. How can I get this configuration to work (will it work or it won't). When I set the RAID 1 volume and it gives me Bootable and there is no way I can not make unbootable. I have changed the priority in hard drive so that 640gb WD drive is the first bootable drive and then the SATA dvd writer (SAMSUNG). It doesnt allow me to boot from the cd (dvd) drive. This is what I have now:
SATA 1 Channel : SEAGATE 500gb
SATA 2 Channel : Samsung DVD Writer
SATA 3 Channel : Samsung 500gb
SATA 4 Channel : Western Digital 640 gb
How do I make the dvd writer the first bootable drive?
How do I make the RAID 1 for 2 500gb drives and load OS on 640gb drive(tried doing that but its just rebooting after splashing the XP boot screen?
Help me.
thanks
sunny
Hi,
I did exactly but still the same problem. One more thing, I had BIOS 14 before and I didn't see all the SATA ports in BIOS and I upgraded to 16 and could see them after I upgrading to 16. Now I can't see them any more and in the first screen of BIOS I see nothing in the SATA ports. Why is this happening and is this the problem to make DVD Writer bootable and use the hard drive in SATA 3 as bootable drive.
Let me know if there is any other way.
Right now I have this:
SATA 1 Samsung 500gb
SATA 2 Seagate 500gb - Both SATA 1 and 2 in RAID 1
SATA 3 WDC 640gb
SATA 4 ---
SATA 5 Samsung DVD Writer 183L
thanks
if you are running Intel Raid, the drives will not show up in the bios.
2nd, you have to go into the Intel Raid bios by hitting "Cntrl I" repeatedly right as the first post screen is about to disappear...once you are into the Intel Raid Bios screen, you should be able to tell the Raid bios to select the non-raid drive as the bootable drive.
Hi Ace-a-Rue,
Tried what you have suggested but I don't see any option to make my WD 640GB Non RAID HDD bootable. Am I doing some thing wrong here, do I need to do something else. I can go into Intel RAID BIOS but I see 4 options:
1. Create Volume 2. Delete Volume 3. Modify Volume and 4 Exit.
I haven't found any place to change the Bootable option for the Non RAID hdd.
Let me know if there is anything I can do.
thanks
i was off on the place to set the single bootable drive to boot from.
you want to use Sata ports 1-4 for your raid and single bootable drive...DVD ROM/writer should occupy Sata ports 5 or 6.
once you have Intel Raid enabled and then saved, re-enter the bios and click on "Advanced Bios Features"...from there, click on "Hard Disk Boot Priority"...your raid, your single bootable drive and any other drive should show up there.
now, put the single bootable drive to the top of the list...save and it should boot off that drive if you have Hard Drive as you first choice in the "Advanced Bios Features."
if you want to boot from your DVD drive first, look in the list under "Advanced Bios Features" for the actual name of the DVD writer....select that to be the first choice....so...that will force the bios to look to DVD drive before it looks to the single bootable drive for the boot command....also, don't forget to make Hard Disk or Hard Drive as your 2nd choice.
I've been sitting on this board for 5mos now because I'm to damn slow to complete my build (have 3 other comps that take my attention), so my questions are this:
1. Should I even bother with this board, or should I move on to something else? If so, what?
2. Will it support 8600's if I decide to get one?
3. Can someone point me to some opening BIOS settings for a little OC as 6900 posts will take a little while to get through to find some. . . ;)
Thanks for any help!!!!
Guys, really sad to know that abit will be exiting the mobo business ....
been loving abit ...
Quote:
Moving into new digs, but headed in different direction
We started receiving word from several sources early this morning that Abit has started informing partners and distributors that they will be exiting the motherboard business at the end of the year.
While Abit has denied these rumors in the past, it seems that they have finally thrown in the towel in the competitive world of motherboard manufacturing and distribution. Sales have continued to decline and razor thin margins just don’t make it worthwhile to continue.
Abit, however, announced that they will be moving into new digs across the street from the new Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall. The new hi-tech building will be in the heart of the new Nangang Software Park.
According to what we have been hearing, Abit will still be taking orders and filling orders with the inventory that they have on hand till the end of the year. Abit will continue to honour their three-year warranty on the motherboard products that they have sold.
As for the future, our moles suggest that USI who is Abit’s parent company will continue the Abit brand name by moving it toward the consumer electronics space with products like the FunFab digital photo frame with integrated printer and the mobile Internet device (MID) that they showed during Computex.
Still not working. I am getting frustrated and I tried to do only the RAID 1 with 2 disks and tried to boot with OS cd and couldn't get the OS (XP) CD to install the OS. I get a blue screen of death when I tried to install the OS. I am at loss now and don't know what I can do. Please help me.
Thanks
guys, I need some help...I just screwed up a bios flash, and now computer wont boot past A:drive, is there anything I can do other then buying a new bios chip? I also have an ABit IP35-E mobo, can I use that Bios chip?
nevermind guys, I just figured it out using this as a guide... http://pages.sbcglobal.net/jefn/bootblock.html
that was pretty darn scary.
Hi,
I am using BIOS 16. I am attaching some of the photos that I took with configuration details. I have no idea how to make the RAID 1 partition non bootable and once I have loaded the OS files in the WD 640GB it comes back to OS installation (if OS CD is inside the drive) or if not it gives me this message:
"Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware.
Please check the windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information."
more images in the next mail.
thanks for any help

have you tried switching the single drive to either Sata port 5 or 6...that might be the answer
Hi,
Right now I have removed all the drives except WD 640GB and have set up the OS on that. I have not connected any other drives and used the IDE on the SATA. I will change to RAID and see but I am getting a kick from my wife since this is the only computer we have.
I will update later.
Hi all. Been a while since I visited this site but now I have a serious problem with my IP35 Pro. Everything was fine for many months until today. Just a simple restart and now the board hangs up on POST Code 26.
I have no clue what Code 26 means even from the manual.
I currently have the following hardware in my sig and like I said, everything worked for a very long time and all the sudden...poof. What can I do? I have tried CMOS reset a couple times but each time results in the same error. I have also tried each memoiry stick individually to no avail.
well, i managed to get a startup by removing the battery and resetting cmos. but once i get to bios and change my settings I get the error again.
any help is appreciated
look in you manual on page 5-2, it has three reasons...i would try disconnecting all your hardware to see if it will take you to looking for the boot coomnand...once you have that add your drive to see if it hangs..keep adding single pieces until you find what it is hanging on....my guess it is the DVD or hard drive.
do you have any raptor drives?...the Pro board has a problem with some models of the Raptor.
No raptor.
On 5-2 under code 26 it says
1. If Early_init_Onboard_Generator is not defined Onboard clock generator initialization.
2. Init onboard PWM
3. Init onboard H/W monitor devices
Now I have no clue what that means at all. Also, I can get it to startup with all my settings, but it doesn't save the clock changes. It defaults to 266Mhz DDR2-666 for some reason. If I restart it gives error 26, I have to power down and hope that it will startup after I give it a minute.
if it does not save the clock changes, there is the problem...have you pop the battery out with the power cord unplugged from the PSU while clearing CMOS?...don't forget to hit the power button to unload the caps from the board and PSU...leave it for 5-10 minutes.
if this does not correct the problem, disconnect all extra hardware other than the bare minimum: memory, VC and CPU...now, enter the bios and try to change the clock a small amount to see if it saves...good luck!
What you said didn't work, but here's what did. Video card out and startup...goes all the way to the final POST code where it would normally start windows. So I went out and bought a new card, Visiontek HD4870. Kind of an unexpected upgrade but now I have a faster card as a result. Works fine now, all is well. I even replaced the stupid battery on the mobo cause I was so lost
Thanks for your help.
