Just read it, Thank you again Kind Sir. you are a wealth of information and I am always happy when you reply.

Edit; I always run with VDroop enabled, I figure the board knows more than I.
+1 to what Praz said. I believe that 5/21 overvolted Vcore by 0.04v but don't take my words, I think it was do to my crappy multimeter. I checked Vcore on 3/17 BIOS using a good DMM.

Anyone try an e8600 on this board yet?
What's the difference between 05/02 and 05/21 bios?
Tnx ppl, i think i'll stay on 05/02 for the time being.
Hello,
where i can buy this Mobo in europe?? or in a US Shop who ships to Germany?
Does anyone have the little silver rectangular plate and the 4 screws that go with it for mounting the transpiper?
My memory hurts, this mobo did not came with CPU backplate right? :yawn2:
Anyone had the privilege of running a 4870x2 on this board yet?
I take it there are no weird compatibility issues.
CN :)
Good question C-N. I hope not as I am sure many are going to go this route. If there is an issue I hope Oskar will sort it soon with a bios update. Haven't had one in a few months now, probably won't have anymore unless issues arise. I think we are seeing all we are going to see for options and performance from this board.
Are there anyone who use USB KEYBOARD or USB MOUSE to POWER ON???,
I configured like the manual said and donīt work on LT P35 with bios 502
i swapped my x38 for the p35 n :) for my e8600
some quick runs:D
i'll test max fsb later
how to put cpu multiplier to 8.5 is it possible?
Nice E8600 man, real sweet cpu.
I didn't go above 1.5V on nb both with 65nm C2D and C2Q since my nb is air cooled. But then again i didn't go much above 500fsb.
Your nb temps are rather ok considering voltage. What is your ambiental.
Forgot to post this result, so thought i'd do it now. First screenie is 5ghz stable with the E8600. Second screenie at 5.1ghz is where it is at the moment, i'm pretty shure it'll run the distance. As you can see, nice low Vcore so it should have a bit more headroom in it yet :D

Flashed my bios from 05/02/08 to 03/17/08 via usb today, and you guessed it, dead board. Had all defaults set with only a tad bit of cpu volts to make sure it flashed ok. Long story short, I got the 88 post code after the F1 reboot and that looped about 4 times, just an endless loop after popping the battery for about an hour and shorting the cmos jumper. No post code at all. Fun stuff :(
Anyone got a spare bios chip they could sell me? LMK
Larry
i'm using the heatsink off my x38 on sb and pwm from x38 too lol or i woulda had to cut that silly heatpipe
measure sb with lasergun its @33c damn its hot "i6 gotta remember not to measure temps through the plexyglass lol"
my ac is on 70f now:)
kitfit how high you got cpu vtt@ n what gtl% is the e8600 liking mine seems to like 63%
is and E8600 @ 5ghz possible with water for 24/7 Use? :D
I have an extra bios chip if anyone needs. Just let me know.
i was on 512 bios n using special add % was booting @ 1.38v n after a few boots later was @ 1.47v
i upadated bios to 521 n it happened again
i just rebooted n lowered volt by 1 % setting n i'm back to 1.38
i think we need a bios for the new stepping
is there a bios that i dont have to use special add for my e8600
VTT is at 1.17v, GTL's are 68-67-69. I have them set the same as my E8500 was, because as yet i hav'nt re-done my GTL voltages for this cpu. I have tried it up to VTT 3.3v but the values have definately changed from CO revision parts. So anyone that is using there old values is going to have a bit of a problem.
Having said all that, because i always run under phase, my settings are always going to be a bit different (the cpu GTL's specifically).
need some help tweaking my memory timings. any ideas guys?
thanks a bunch

What about just a fan over them?
http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/7467/ok006cm6.jpg
Yes, that is quite good.
I think Sunon makes some good 60mm fans that could do the job.
Unless you are the sort of person (like me) that likes to tinker for the sake of tinkering you really don't need to manually set any of the secondary timings just leave them on auto.
I would just set Fast.Fast.Auto.Agressive.5.5.5.15.5.35 ~ whatever it needs & leave everything else on auto & see what happens. You can run something like Prime 95 on a custom 4096 stability test & tweak the primary timings up & down in BIOS or Memset till you get your desired performance. I would also use Everest bandwidth & latency test & Super PI 32m as a good gauge as to whether your tweaking is achieving anything or not.
You can also use Memset to discover what your board/BIOS has set for most of the secondary timings which will give you a start point to tweak/test from.

thanks alot C - N and praz. that was great info, coming from u guys i will follow the advice
Again much appreciated for the help guys. keep up the good work
will post some results soon based on info

hi guys!
i tested my new e8600 on the lanparty p35 ut: i saw that lanparty+e8600 combo is much more faster than my previous combo (lanparty+e8400) in superpi 1M (-0,2sec.), but a lot slower on 32M. The 8600 needs 200mhz+ than e8400 to make the same time.
of course all the setting are the same (566x9.5 e8600, 566x9 e8400, ram 566 4.4.4.12, trd 7). I think that is a bios issue, in 1m maby the l2cache is faster in e8600 than e8400, but what about 32M?
Thank you
man i cant seem to break 12000mb/s:mad:
how much cpu vtt do i need for a 45nm to go past 550fsb
or did i hit ram speed limit on the board@ high fsb
Try setting the highest tref value in MemSet.
you gotta leave cpu @ default n use special add%
for more that 114% volts you gotta dissable max limit
i'm runnin 521 bios
i'm stable till 4.1@1.17v
chek your volts after second boot i thought i was @ 1.38 n i was @ 1.44
bios special add is buggy
they need to release a bios for the new rev hopefully we wont have to use special add% one day
Thanks for the quick reply :)
Hi,
I have just bought the E8600 CPU and after installing it on my UT P35 it doesnīt boot, only the fans are running. I have the the 05/21 Bios and the board works well with my old E8500 and E8400.
That didn't work. I put it on Abit IP35... It works! Bios(Abit's) says that CPU temperature is 95C and RealTemp says 31C. So is it possible that DFI won't let me boot because the CPU temperature is too high? Bios readings are just incorrect.
I really want to use this chip on DFI.

What's the max FSB range on this board? Can it do 650+?
does this board have a ,refresh period (Tref), setting in the bios? if not is there another way to control this through the bios?
thanks for the responses guys. its seems that this board at 200/800 lowers:down: the performance level and ups:up: the refresh period thus making the board more stable. and at 266/667 it ups:up: the performance level but lowers:down: the refresh period making it instable.
Yes, it is also mentioned on that famous review of the board at Anandtech that 266/667 and 333/800 straps offer best ram performance.
Hi guys,
I have a problem which is unrelated to overclocking and tweaking but if you can help me I will greatly appreciate it.
Well my problem is that I can't start any OS on a virtual machine if I use Hardware Virtualization enabled , and I have to turn it off (in the virtualization program settings) so it could work. My CPU is an E8400, i have the last version of bios installed(21/05/2008), CPU virtualization option set to enabled in bios, and no overclock.
I tried with 3 different programs(Vmware, Paralles Workstation, Microsoft VirtualPC) and both on Windows XP and Vista x64, and I got the same thing.
At these point only the motherbord bios or the CPU is at fault. I know that its almost impossible that the CPU to be at fault, but you never know...
If anyone tried using virtual machines with the Hardware virtualization enabled on DFI LP UT/LT P35 and it worked, please confirm.
Or if someone has 10-15 minutes to spare and try. You could download and install MS Virtual PC 2007 because its free (from here), set hardware virtualization in bios and in program options to enabled and try to install windows xp/2003/vista. My virtual machine stops in Windows Setup at "Setup is starting Windows" and get an error box(pic below).
Hope someone can help me. Thanks:)
Where i can buy this board in the US but new not used. i need a shop who ships to germany. thank you!
http://www.motherboardpro.com/DFI-La...ATX-p-338.html
I looked in their FAQ section and they said to email them with the address. I would just email them and see.
This can't be true. VTT voltage can't be that high. I have set it to 1.10V (BIOS).
I tried all these bioses: 03/17 , 05/02 and 05/21. All have the same problem.
Edit: Ok, DMM says it's 1.09V. No panic.:)

What is a good 45nm Quad Bois? My Q6600 is dying a slow death... Right now I am running 12-24 bios. Thanks
I haven't been religiously keeping up with this thread like I used to, so please forgive me if this question has already been asked/answered.
I finally got around to flashing my board with 5/21. I was previously running 3/17 with zero issues so figured I would stick with that. Curiosity got the better of me this morning so I decided to try 5/21 which has been official for a couple months now. Everything looks fairly similar to 3/17 except for two new options.
What exactly is this and how should it be set for best performance/stability?
TFINE ITEM VALUE DEGREE
Mine defaulted to 160 and I left it at that. No clue if lowering it does anything, and if so what exactly does it affect. Anyone have any info on exactly what this new listing is in the bios and what it should be set at?
Thanks!
That value sets the amount of the increment if you would go ahead and set the memory delays manually, all BIOSes before 5/02 did not have this option and 70 picoseconds was the default ever since 9/13 BIOS. Early BIOSes went by increment of 1, e.g DIMM1 1-1-9-6 DIMM2 1-1-9-5 or 100ps-100ps-900ps-600ps...etc.
This is how it looks on LP x48:
http://img382.imageshack.us/img382/2346/tfinetx7.jpg
I really would like to see DS, DDS and Skew Model making its way into LP P35 BIOS.
Thanks! I don't fully understand what it is I am setting, or how it came to the default of 160ps for my particular system. I will just leave it as is as long as my system is stable unless I can find a good reason to change it, and know what I can change it to, to add to stability and/or performance.
As for those options, they would be nice but I highly doubt it. The UT P35 has been out for over a year now and the last bios update has been nearly 3.5 months. I am sure they are going to focus on newer boards since the P35 is pretty much rock solid for anyone. Anything else they change would be a bonus and not a necessity. We can all hope though.
Do you think this board is better than a P5Q for overclocking a quad and running a 4870x2?
Help! I just got an e8600 and popped in my board, but I cannot increase the voltage past about 1.34v, If I do the comptuer restarts like it does when there is a bigger change to reset the cpu core v or a high fsb ect, It comes on for about a second or less then shuts off. I have to reset the cmos to get it start up again. It will run fine a 1.34v. My old q6600 would take 1.55v on this board so I am really confused here. If anyone has any ideas that would be great, I have tried everything I can think of including different staps, but it seems like its another problem, because the board wont start up for more than a second....
I have never had a fsb issue with my board infact I don't think I've ever had a CPU that wouldn't do at least 500fsb quads included. Why don't you post up your settings I'm sure someone can help.
GTL's will likely be the key to getting the fsb try around 60 +- 5 or so & see if that helps.
Ok I cannot get above 470 fsb, I think I have tried just about everything except gtl... I have tried everything stock except nb volts and cpu multipler to try and get 480 or 500, but no go. Anyone have any ideas or any gtl settings that I should try...
Nothing that I have tried will post with above 470... Either the computer turns on, but no screen or movement, or it turns on for a second and then turns off. Please help I am lost at why this is happening.
EDIT: ALSO chipest temp in bios is around 44 to 49, but in windows w/smart guardian and everest it shows about 33. It is watercooled with a mcw30 and I have tried reseating it...
I reseated the cpu, it worked with 480 and passed post, but I had volts way too low and then it crashed on the way to windows, but Now it even turns off at 470.....
Please help me! I have reseated the cpu twice now and have tried another set of ram. Boots in windows with stock settings fine, but now cant do 470 fsb, but could eariler. What the heck is going on I am going insane, please save me...
Thanks, updated sig! that worked at least it restarted correctly and posted! nb is 1.41, and as for the vtt... well it didnt go that high for the e8600 lol, but I did 1.2 and that worked. The gtls was at 110 when I enabled it, going to 68 is a huge drop is this safe for the e8600? Thanks
EDIT: I did a little researching on the gtl stuff, seems like 68 is close, I dont really understand it well though....
Thanks and the % corrollates to the number right in a 1:1 ratio? What settings did you use for your e8600 @ 4.6. I'm trying to get 4.6 stable, but having issues...
my cpu vid is 1.1875 according to coretemp 0.99.3
1.38v cpu
1.2v vtt 1.17 set in bios
1.42v nb
gtl 68-69-69
p.s. i always use 333-800 divider uses the least amount of volts n best performance
dont leave pl level + memory timings on auto they can be a bit tight
but i like it tight:D:rofl:
Use the cheat sheet http://www.edgeofstability.com/index.html :D:D
I cannot run Ch Clock Crossing Setting: More Aggressive anymore on the LT, I had no problem on older UT version, also the memory delays greatly differ from those using same settings, maybe do to the different revision?
I tried 4.6 with about every possible setting, well not everypossible, but a little of everything and prime would fail within 1 minute with small fft. I only went to 1.24-1.44 on volts tho. I bumped it down to 4.5 @1.42 and its been stable so far 20min+ I have a feeling it will be at least 1 hour stable... maybe 12+... but I could be wrong. Its 73C max so far.. Kinda high it seems. If it is stable I will see how close to 4.6 I can get... Its too bad, because I bet I could boot into windows with 5ghz at 1.5volts... but no stability for sure.... This is only day 1 of trials tho, I got a long ways to go :P If anyone has anymore tips I would be greatful, thanks zsamz and c-n for your help so far :D
hello, since i have added an hd4870x2 to my system i am experiencing weird problems from which i dont know whats causing them. first off, i get that annyoing "the display driver has stopped working but was recovered..." in vista, but only with aero turned on. the bigger issue though is that i cant do 3d at all, either i get a bsod or the pc just reboots itself with a black screen. this only happens in vista home premium 64 sp1 though, in xp i didnt have a crash or whatsoever yet.
in vista i have tried four different driver sets for the x2 already and also tried with and without overclocked cpu. no success. now i am not sure what could be the reason. could it be the mainboard? i doubt that though since the user "C-N" stated that his x2 "works like a champ" on this board. :D but it seems he doesnt have a 64 bit os judging from his signature.
i was thinking maybe its the combination of p35 + vista64 + x2 (maybe + q6600)... but as i said i dont know thats why i am asking here.
ive already considered buying a new p45 mobo in hope that it will solve my problems but theres no guarentee and id rather not replace this board.
do you have any idea? thanks in advance...
my system:
q6600
dfi lp ut p35 (biso 521)
4 x 1gb teamgroup xtreem ddr2 800
gainward hd4870x2
corsair hx1000w
xfi xtreme music
It's a bit chilly here, around 52F so i decided to test my cpu a bit:
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=417662
Q6600 G0 @ 8x450MHz=3600MHz @ 1.425V, rather good voltage for this fsb and freq., prime screen coming after it has finished more then 12hrs. :D
After i find max fsb i test for max freq. at x9 multi.
NB vcore @ 1.50V, VTT @ 1.53V and GTL settings @ 102,101 and 105.
I see a similar thing with BIOS 0521, I can hold PL6 on the 266 strap well over 1200mhz with earlier BIOS's but with 0521 I have to use PL7 & pull in all the phases.
My 4870X2 runs great on my DFI P35 but like you say I have only ever run XP SP2 or Vista 32Bit so it is possible you are seeing a 64 bit issue
I am using the BETA 8.9 drivers but retail 8.8 was fine.
The only way I can get my driver to stop responding if I run an unstable setup, overclock the card to far, overheat the card, or push the PCI-E frequency up too high.
CN :)
^ i havent even touched the clocks from the graphics card yet, so no oc for me. and the temps seem normal too (idle: ~62/48) with 8.52.6 drivers in xp and 8.52.2 in vista.
i havent changed the pcie frequency either.
i really have no idea what the issue with this card and apparently vista x64 is :(
looking good bro! i have the same voltages but a bit higher FSB... CPU-Z. i can't find my screenshot of it being prime stable x8hours :(
Just did 8x460MHz @ 1.43V 6,7hrs prime stable and it crashed during the night. :( Still not stable enough for me, need some more fine tuning i guess although in games, work and stuff is rock stable.
Seems like a good cpu, does 3.2GHz on def. voltage, perhaps i can try to reach 500MHz for a few hours priming just to see if it can handle it.:)
Guys, what's top NB and GTL voltage recommended for 24/7 usage with active cooling? (92mm fan over NB)
