Guys,
already rock stable for 3.6Ghz in about 3 weeks !!! no problem at all !
now im still looking for a stable settings in 4Ghz !!!
my Q6600 Vid is 1.25v... now need 1.40v to stay at 3.6Ghz...
anyone with stable 4Ghz Q6600 with this board here ?? mind to share your setting?:D
lefy: I too had experienced problems with my ip35 pro with I first installed it. I couldn't get it to run at stock speeds with my q6600, it kept restarting and freezing. Turns out putting coretemp .95 into my startup folder was causing it to restart on startup. Then I found out having cpuz and uguru open was causing my system to freeze.
As for the bios settings, I had so much trouble with bios 14. Attempting to run my ram at ddr800 and stock timings would render it unable to post. After I flashed to 16b04, I've been running it at 3.6ghz prime stable for over a month now.
i just got my IP35 Pro and did the bolt mod. Its now installed and formatting. However i had problems getting it to post with all 4Gb of my memory in it. It would either hang at the C1 or C5 code and refuse to post with 4X1Gb. I upped the voltage to 2.1v for the memory but that didnt help. Is this a bios issue or a setting that needs to be changed?
Try to loosen TRFC. I had the same problem. Make sure your other timings aren't too tight aswell.Quote:

More likely the CPU and cooling holding it up than the MB ...

A general note,
The most trouble free way to install your OS is with one stick of ram in the slot closest to the CPU, a graphics card, and only the hard disk(s) receiving the OS connected.
Add things like sound cards and additional ram after you are fully patched.

the multi can not be raised above default value with 16.b03.
I would flash up to 16.B04 before you install the QX, this is what I did and the QX is running reasonably happy in the Pro :)

ram does have different heat dissipation characteristics...if you are at stock speed, you shouldn't need more than 1.9 for Vdimm...you can always mount a couple of small fans over the memory sticks....if they feel hot to the touch then by all means add some fans or buy a memory cooler.Quote:

Abit's site don't show it in the supported list, but it is in the supported list for the X38 board...
Hope I don't have to buy an X38 board to run these...
Beta 16.b04 supports the QX9650 quite well.

Shows 8200, 8400 and 8500 as supported "OK".
Ok QX9650 straight in at 445x9 4GHZ 1.35v measured via DMM. Volt mod on board, no droop, in fact rises 0.01v priming away small ffts. Load temps around 54,47,52,52C water fresh Shin-Etsu, ambient around 25C. Hell of a lot less load on the PWM than the Q6600.
One question one of the cores is way cooler than the others 5-7C cooler, anyone seen this? I'm used to seeing a pair different, but not just one.
just got my SLACR Maylay in. Its going to go straight to a single stage. Whats the safe limit on voltage? i was thinking of just trying for 430 @ 1.3 and working from that. any suggestions or should i walk it up like i would on water?
When I updated to the Beta 16's I noticed the same with the core temp. I flashed back to the official version 14 then it went back to all being within 1-2c of each other.Quote:

I have 4x1GB Corsair 8500C5 Dominators running @504MHz I can't seem to get them to run over 533MHz at all. Even with the loosest of timings they just won't go over 533. The good news is that they don't seem to interfere with the CPU overclock, the same settings work with 2x1GB as 4x1GB.
The vdroop is very bad @1.5575v in uguru it's drooping down to a reported 1.43v at load and 1.49v idle. When my new case finally arrives I'll do the droop mod while I have the motherboard out.

It's weird, mine has up to 11c difference depending on load. I've tried re-seating the CPU block a couple of times. It looks as though the primary core is always working a little harder and hotter, I guess it makes sense with most apps only using the primary core.Quote:

Which one are you referring too? In general a reference voltage is a fixed voltage that doesn't change regardless of the device loading. The VID is a reference loadline voltage, means it changes on a slope (thermal profile)or line if its enabled. The vcore follows the loadline.Quote:

my original 9650 had the same VID but the replacement 9650 is kind of a stinker chip...it has a VID of 0.9625v...from all that i have read, a chip with a low VID does not overclock very well....that has proven out with mine...once i start putting the vcore above 1.46 and run wPrime stability bnch, the PWM goes into warning zone for temp...it's the FIRST time that has EVER happened on my Pro board...never happened with my Q6600 B3 or G0 chip and it didn't happen with my 1st 9650...this su*ks!;)Quote:

i dont get this board. I wake up this morning and again it again refuses to boot with 4X1Gb. WTF. No voltage change or timing change helps, it just refuses. Would 2X2Gb be easier on the board than 4X1Gb?
Maybe you have bad ram or a bad board. I've never had any problems with 4x1GB at speeds 500+.Quote:

Now I notice most people use AS Céramique on the Mosfet, and AS5 on the NB & SB... why do people use a different TIM for the Mosfet ? Is Céramique non-conductive or something, so that if some gets on the board it's alright???
