$570 is my limit.
Judging from the look of those pics, I can say that card is at least 30% faster than GTX 580.

I was expecting 6970 to be on par with 580, at worst. The leaks so far indicating that 6970 is not that high on performance. If those leaks are true, then the only card left for AMD to play is to win the performance/dollar battle like they did with 4000 series.
let the world know, now we know why AMD delayed there 69xx series launch, to have the same vapor chamber then nv has :rofl::rofl:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/coolers...ics_Cards.html
they have done that for the 3000 and 4000 series and would have done that for the 5000 series also if there was some competitions (NOT) and will do the same thing for 6000 series and 7000 series.
You are forgetting the ATI target of manufacturing and deployment idea... smaller/cooler and uber high end stick 2 together on single card.
That is inclusive 25% VAT also, so to translate it to a price in US$ without VAT
we end up with about 470 US$.
On the Swedish site in the link, cheapest cards:
Nvidia GTX 570 3.500 skr.
AMD HD 6970 4.095 skr
Nvidia GTX 580 4.700 skr
So the 6970 is exactly in the middle, price wise, on this site.
5% as far to 580gtx is not high on performance?
The 580gtx is around 15% faster than 480gtx, and in dx11 the 6970 will trade blows with the 580 and likely beat it, and that isnt high on performance?
so the 580 gtx sxxk axs is that what you say?
since if the 6970 is around it and beats it, it is :banana::banana::banana:ty performance?
Gee, people need to examine their brains a lot more, check for facts and stop the distortions and the brainwash Nvidia is doing.
The 6900 series is priced here lower than the 5000 serie from nvidia, amd wins the price/performance game, crossfireX scales awesome and Nvidia is in for a big hurt again due to the cards from Nvidia is no wehre to buy.
2x6950 and the upcoming 6990 will be the card to get for people wanting a supercard best of the world, king of the hill fastest in the Universe is AMD 6990 and we have a winner!
/Bruce Lee approved and he beat Chuck Norris every time.
First site in Aus to list the cards...
6970:

$629 Aus/$619 US
6950:

$499 Aus/$491 US
580GTX

$679
Gigabyte:

$719
Yeah, thats right, those of us in Aus get shafted big time for prices :shakes:
Our dollar is almost at parity, yet we still pay 100-200$ more for the 580GTX
6990 will uterly destroy what nvidia has to offer now ...
maybe you shouldnt have expected too much ... i did expect things .. and right now they seem to point towards what i expected ... a gpu with a good oc headroom .. with a fine price and more then decent performance ....
maybe its just you who dreamed too much and now your unhappy ...
ouchhh .... now that's some price gauging .... :S ..
with price of $1000 for it, HD 6990 will definitely get owned :D
i dont think so, just 2 6850's get equal performance to 5970 and 5970 outperform gtx 580 by as much as 15%, if you trust techpowerup's slides.
http://tpucdn.com/reviews/ATI/Radeon...rfrel_2560.gif
early drivers, one month old and we will get a more optimized driver while not much difference in performance it will add more solid numbers all around.
will trade blows with 580 likely beat it at dx11 games.
overclocking it will likely rock.
its in the ballpark where it should/might be on 40nm.
expecations are hard for some, many expect a difference but seldom notice one in practice.
cheaper.
I either get 2x6950 or wait for 6990.
running 5760x1080 has its drawbacks ;)
IMHO GTX 580 is still a better buy if your not dirty poor and compromising to save few bucks.
Game Compatibility
Nvidia has generally better (with all the cash they dumb in game companies TWIMTBP titles ect) yes such company bias is bad but it is what it is and we have to live with it, it can be a bonus if your on such camp nvidia does put more effort in getting certain game features working, you don't see AMD putting such efforts.
Sponsored Games
As such sponsored games by nvidia eg. Lost Planet 2, Hawx 2 ect. perform substantially better on geforce line. (it might be a bit to early to make this claim as we don't have enough direct 580/480 comparisons only 5870/6970 but looking at LP2 a stock 480 is substantially faster)
Single GPU Preference
Taking above into account Single GPU performance wise GTX 580 is a fastest you can get. (A bit premature i know but my claim seem logical)
Extras
PhysX (hopefully it will die and get replaced by something better but for now it is free Candy if you have Geforce no such perk from AMD side)
CUDA (not really relevant to games but those who use programs who support it, know its a nice bonus to have)
3D gaming (currently the only solid platform from nvidia, AMD response is pathetic with so little effort put into it)
Mutual Abilitys
Multi Display gaming (Need SLI for 3 monitor gaming, this one AMD is one step ahead sorta still need crossfire for acceptable FPS especially with more then 3 monitors)
Both can do SLI/CF (nothing to see here)

Oh nice, the 6950 is packing a backplate too it seems?
First they compare it to GTX 480 and 470, then to GTX 285 and 260?? lol the 15th couldn't come any sooner, put all this palava to rest.
Oh and, "Gold bean sprouts" i like that :D
The 5870 was 100% faster than the 4870 so why is it ridiculous to expect the same with this generation? Ridiculous because you are an AMD fanboy and AMD can do no wrong? 100% faster than the previous generation is par for the course. The norm as they say. What is not normal is naming incremental improvements as a whole new generational shift in graphics card. The 580 is really a 485 or a 490 at best. 5870 should be phased out and be replaced with the 6870. They really did themselves no favours with the naming system as 5970 is a dual card.
To me this is a sign that gpus are tailing off in terms of how much farther they can go. We've seen cpus idle at 3ghz for years. We could be reach the same plateau for gpus, the only real progression is combine multiple gpus together, but as we've seen from cpus you need the software to really take advantage of that and make it perform like one monstrous unit.
All in all I am disappointed it's not beating the 580 and really respect nvidia for pushing the boundaries of SINGLE card gpu. It does mean something to be the fastest. Olympians strive for first, whatever it takes they will do it. Who remembers second. Yet AMD are striving to be second?! all the time? wtf. Here is where they had an opportunity to snatch first yet somehow are happy with second.. Imagine what a sh*tstorm AMD would be in if the 580 was released last year. Then AMD would be a releasing a card 12 months later that is SLOWER than last years card. That's what everyone is thinking.
The only thing that can really save them is sideport. Make 2 become 1. If Antilles is just 2 cayman slapped together without any new tech then just lol.
What's new about this point ??

sponsored games means nothing in the real world .... the way its meant to be played ... means nothing when you get playable frame rates .... single gpu prefference .. another nvidia fanboy card since this gen they dont have a dual gpu card ... and extra's .. ahh yes the good old physx stupid excuse ... ohh yes cuda .... LOLL
;) see nothing you said really is an extra ...
Still, we dont know anything untill wednesday, and as many noticed before me. Both 5870 and GTX 480 have made huge improvements just in the driver territory.
I cant say game compatibility differs between the companies.
I belive AMD is putting alot of money in the game industry, its just that when they do it doesnt get a first page article about not optimizing anything (physX) for Nvidia cards as for when Nvidia optimize a game they let out any of the goodies for AMD cards.
Just a sidenote isnt all the games showed during catalyst installation AMD sponsored?
It's not even 2 times faster than GTX260 according to these slides on average, so not sure this is such an awesome marketing...
Probably as fake as it gets...
yeah, cement your rank as an eternal AMD fanboy with posts like this to people who didn't already know, why don't you?
For all you know, Nvidia can announce the 595 and release it super quickly like it did on GTX 580 - can even be before HD6990.
The fact that we know AMD's "roadmap" and we don't know Nvidia's roadmap means nothing.
funny thing is that i don't care about all those points in that list because i buy what's best in price/performance not some 100% useless features like 3D game support (BTW: 3d video support is better on the amd side since 6xxx series because of hdmi 1.4 and video 3D support is built into the drivers by now)
and i'm sure that at leas 90% of all buyers think the same way as i do and buy what's best in price/performance and i'm sure that power is a better reason to decide between 2 products with the same price/performance than some stickers on game boxes and 2-3 games which are completely biased towards a platform (the last 10% care about performance only and i'm sure that they won't go for the fastes single gpu setup, they'll go for the fastest multi gpu setup)
so yeah 90% of all people don't care about the points you listed because they have no use for it, 5% will go for the fastest single gpu and care about the points you listed, and another 5% will go for the fastest CF/SLI solution on the market
You're completely wrong. 90% of all buyers couldn't care less if their card rendered a scene at 60 FPS instead of 65 FPS. They simply want something that won't cause headaches, and for right or wrong AMD/ATI cards still have the "terrible drivers, will cause you problems" image attached to them.
Myself I don't care about driver problems much because I don't have to call the service to fix them. The last 3 cards I used was 4870, 5870 and 5970 because they were always superior to Nvidia's offerings in terms of performance. However, I do think that AMD has more problems and compatibility issues with their drivers. Not really a problem for me, but would be a problem for 90% of the users you're talking about, hence Nvidia usually being the preferred brand.
You dont get it do you? It does not matter if they can or not. What does matter is that someone on a random forum is having an orgasmic shill because maybe they cant. If you think about it, it IS a bad thing if they cant. That will mean that Antilles will be ubber expensive, because it wont have competition.
Jesus, people are so dumb and irrational sometimes! :shakes:
Oww when was that ? are you grabbing straws :cat: don't tell me you'r referring to this ?
6850 is cheapest 6xxx line setup , its a fact not slander.Quote:
This is referring to 50$ cheaper prise of 6970 compared to 500$ GTX 580.Quote:

Guys, please stop :( This is so pointless.
Anyway, either way, i can't wait to start reading some proper reviews. I certainly enjoyed reading the GTX 580 and 570 reviews, cayman might be more interesting in certain aspects.
Oh, and apparently the rumors of 30-40% over a GTX 580 was mixed up from 6950 crossfire results... yes... a slight reality check, but at least we know what to expect from antilles.
nice min framerate ... how does it compare to 580 sli ???
sure they are made up, everyone who thinks that they are real should get his brain checked
i simply dislike your way of forcing your way to see things on other people as if we are some sheep who can't think for themselves
actually people like you want to force people to follow the nvidia or ati pr-bibles because they are supreme truth and right in every way and features are always important even don't use them at all :shakes:
additionally i have some questions for you:
tell me one game where there are known major compability problems on nvidia and amd cards which didn't get fixed with in 1-2 months
which games do you play frequently?
how often do you use CUDA for work or processing tasks you do on your pc and which workloads do you use?
which monitor(s) do you have?
did you ever care to read reviews of multi-monitor gaming?
that's all ;)

btw that slide looks as fake as it can be and 2nd ... GF119 ??? LOLL
ps: it just look like more bullcrap made up by nvidia to go agains the launch of the 6k series .. get people to wait more .. its an announcement of an announcement ... good job green goblins ... good job
yo boy you said that GTX 580 ( fake ) and you said Again that GF110+GF112+GF119 ( it just look like more bullcrap made up by nvidia to go agains the launch of the 6k series)
So what happened now MR.S ! the gtx 580 Real and gf110 Real and gf112+gf119 Real.... Do you know who is fake ...you!

how would nvidia make a gtx595 ????

here some more nice insiders information about the 6970 single and CF;
According to Neliz @ gathering of tweakers forum:
''6970 is 50% sneller in Furmark dan een 580, om even te laten zien dat er niet (of minder) aan throttling doet.
tevens zie ik een benchmark met 87fps @5760x1080 in batman:aa
6970 CF zou ook tussen 10% en 50% sneller moeten zijn dan 480 sli op die resolutie.
6970 is tussen de 10 en 30% sneller dan de 570 in de meeste benchmarks''
Translated (dutch is my mother tongue so sorry for some misspelling):
The 6970 is 50% faster in Furmark than the GTX 580, to show that there is non or much less throttling involved.
Furthermore he saw a benchmark with 87FPS @ 5760x1080 with Batman:AA.
The 6970 in CF will also be between 10% and 50% faster than the GTX 480 in SLI with that resolution (5760x1080).
The 6970 is between 10 and 30% faster than the GTX 570 in most of the benchmarks.
Let's not turn this into a war between 2 Unrelated cards right now. Let's focus on what we have here!!
single card is up now

at least im having an orgasmic fun :D
ow and here to stimulate the desire :D

ok since you ask so nicely :D
3 monitor setup on a single card
2GB RAM
2dv + hdmi port
unknown slider option
cheaper for almost same performance, hardly to notice small fps difference.
less power consumption so way cheaper in the long run.
able to do CF in the near future with APU for free.
new catalyst CC with AMD logo ;)
waiting for official reviews to add to the list....
looking at the early foto's : availability, or at least a few cards from the same vendor at the same time... still hardly able to do that in EU, not to mention able to find decent amount of 570 which should be volume product.
This might be AMD trying to say to nvidia, "look what we could do with a 390mm^2 die - match and even beat your ~500mm^2 beast (GTX 480) in all areas with less power consumption!"
I think this is where the 5xx series might've surprised them though, with the lower power comsumption and temps etc.
But meh, what do i know.

i made the mistake of suspecting that JUST MAYBE this thread had gotten civilized over night, turns out it all just got worse... I reckon I will follow your lead and just look at the pictures from now on and wait for a real review.
vapor chamber looks really good so we expect a cool running card:up:
