Oh, they've updated mac pro specs now btw.
Now they have an ATI 5770! Thats right. And the only way to get a pre built mac with the awesome graphics power of a single 5770 is to buy a £4000+ mac pro.
Prior to that, the top Imac model now has a 1 Gb 5750! Sweet, £1650 for an Imac with an awesome 5750 and ...... a 2560 x 1440 resolution screen :eek: id love to try Crysis on that :rofl:

If you think "bad" uninstall is causing those issues, then ATI has to fix their driver setup, because it claims that it can automatically update existing drivers. I don't want to go through 4 steps involving safe mode and 3rd party tool because ATI is uncapable of writing proper installer/uninstaller. It is not my duty as a user to constantly seek workarounds, it is the other way around -- they have to provide solutions. That goes for any software and hardware I purchase, not only ATI.
Regarding regressions introduced with new drivers, that is what regression testing is for -- to prevent it from happening.
For each fixed bug you need to have a test case that exposes it, and you need to test each new drivers against an evergrowing list of test cases.
Yes, it's PITA and it's a lot of work, as a developer I know it, but ATI has chosen to sell hardware and write drivers for it so let them deal with it properly already, instead with such half-arsed effort as it is now. Either that or at least stop bragging about IQ and awesomeness on twitter.

Fanboy? Grow-up. :rolleyes: I just recently sold my Nvidia GTX 285 last year to get my current ATI 5850 crossfire setup. I'm not brand loyal to any brand, only what's best at the time of my purchase. I've been on back and forth on both sides of the fence probably before you even owned a computer. I've even owned a Matrox G400 back when it was a top video card, and even 3DFX Voodoo card before that back when they were the only manufacturer that mattered. :yepp:

No dual card setup is scaling 100% all of the time yet. Nvidia is more consistent, but 100% scaling in all scenarios is still some time away.Quote:

I just upgraded from 10.7 to 10.8 in just a couple of mouse clicks. I think the problems people are having are from not following ATI instructions.
If you have a messed up driver install then follow this guys method to fix it. It is last on the list of tips. If you have a good install then his method is TOTALLY unnecessary.
