if you ever go back to a raid setup, try increasing your vcore (actual) up to the max if you're running a default overclock...also, increase the ICHIO 1.5 up to around 1.65-1.70v range; vdimm to around 2.2-2.3v and MCH to around 1.44v.Quote:

you don't need to stay there very long...this is to verify if those voltage increases make it stable in raid....if it is stable...then back only one thing down per each instance you run the stress program...this is where Uguru pays off in big dividends...you can do all the adjusting from windows
usually freezes occur when the system is significantly under voltage in one or more categories, or you have a major defect in a piece of hardware.
Before running the 2 raps in raid, OC was easy. Keeping your data safe AND enjoying a good OC takes a whole nother level of patience. But Ace...as always...has the answer. ROAST that SB man! Here's my settings.

Sorry about the lame and lazy screen, but hey...as you can see, I'm trying to get some UT2K4 Instagib on. :D If I go any lower on the ICHIO, my arrays will freak out. Even at that high level of v, it doesn't really get that hot. Anyway, hope it helps...no one should have to suffer from recovering a RAID volume!!!
I can now understand how increasing the volts might fix the lockups in Raid, but would it also fix the slow speed of the array?
Thanks for the info. :)
Edit: Your Intel Storage Manager screen also looks a lot different than mine. I know that you have two different arrays, but for my "Array_0000" sub-section did not say "Matrix Stripe" or "Stripe." Mine said, "Volume 1." Is that ok?:(
The 2 74GB Raptors get about 175MB/Sec STR and 7.0ms RAT. I've no idea about the 2 Hitachi 250's as they're just a mirror for my important stuff. :D The names of arrays were changed so I could identify what's what.
Hi!
Today my new Board arrived! Question, is it impossible,... on the Board near the Northbridgecooler (right Side) is a small Sticker with a Letter ( i´ve only see "A") and a Barcode! My Board is labelled with Letter "B"..., that A means first Choise and B second??
Anyone knows more about the Sticker??
Greetings from Austria

Hi,
Has anyone experienced USB root hub problems with IP35 Pro. I installed Win XP pro last night and none of my USB root hubs work. The ICH9R drivers installed fine (I'm using Matrix Raid) and I tried using WIndowsUpdate to update the drivers but it doesn't detect anything. Oh, using SP2 as well so it's very strange....Thanks
beside installing the Raid Matrix driver...did you install the latest "Intel INF" drivers?
have you checked the "device manager" to see if there are yellow exclamations which would show that the USB devices were not working?..if this is the case, delete all those entries and then reboot to see if they install properly.
what bios version are you using?...if you are using bios 10 (original shipping bios), i would recommend upgrading to '11' official bios.
have you checked in the bios to see if the USB device is "enabled"?...by default it is enabled but it is always good to check.
if all the above is checked and accomplished, i would say the board has a defective USB hub chip...RMA time then!
BIOS11
1. Support CL=3.
2. Enhanced compatibility with certain memories.
3. Support Command Rate adjusting function.
4. Update Jmicron BIOS to V1.06.69.
5. BIOS compiled date: 07/09/2007
The main thing for me was the increased range for several memory timings. The G.Skill I was running can do 4-4-3-5 but the lowest I could set was 4-4-4-9.
tpdinh:
USB's set to hispeed in bios right? A couple months ago I had a problem w/ installing the latest chipset driver from intel and then losing my USB functionality altogether. That was in XP w/ the DFI P965.
@jodiuh
Yes, USB is set to hispeed
@Ace
I did install the Intel Inf drivers. And I'm using beta 12 bios. In device manager, it doesn't let me delete the exclamations, only disable? And yes, USB device is enabled....And I can't RMA the board. I did your Heatpipe mod and went to too much trouble setting it up!
Off-topic...how do I reply to a specific message and have the quote boxes that I could reply to each? Thanks!
like this?Quote:

or this?
@Ace
Yea, I figured you meant uninstall and did that too. That crapped XP. Some lsass.exe error....so reinstalling again fresh...
LOL, either one is good. I don't see any option to reply specifically to a message. I used the "Quote" option but I don't see the nice grayed-out boxes in the reply.
how good is the abit ip35 pro? does it run hot? and should i buy one or wait on x38?
Has anyone tried to set up the Abit uGuru "Mode Select" feature? Does it work? Can you help me? :p:
My over-clock is 3.6GHz right now, but the ideal vCore is ~1.5. (load is like 1.42) I just don't want the CPU to be at 1.5 while at ideal, so I want a way to revert to somewhat stock settings while at no load. Is the mode option even for this type of stuff?
It would be cool if it worked like that.
Good luck mate. Hate to see a fellow XS separated from his board.
The following is a guide to have full administrator control
without having to approve the popups on vista 32bit/64bit.
THIS WORKS BEST WITH A NEW INSTALL.
You just installed vista and you have the administrator
account (or so you think). But what is actually going on is
you have administrator powers, but you have to enable them
every time you open up an application which is retarded..
Follow these steps to have full administrator powers without
a window popping up every time you want to open or install a
program. This will be more like XP-SP2 style, but you will be
on the ACTUAL administrator account.
Again, I recommend that you do this with a new install.
Problems can occur when doing this with an install that has
lasted a while.
After you install vista, go through the steps of setting up
your account. Windows then will do a performance test. When
you finally reach the desktop, click the vista start button.
Right click "Computer" and click "Manage". On the left window
under "System Tools" double click "Local Users and Groups".
Two different files showed be shown in the middle windows
"Users" and "Groups". Double click the "Users" file. The
middle window should now show you 3 users; "Administrator",
"You Account", "Guest". Right click "Administrator" and click
"Properties". A new window should pop up. Under the "General"
tab, deselect "Account is disabled". Click "OK". Log off.
Log into the Administrator account. Go back to "Manage" in
the administrator account. Back to the "Users" under "Local
Users and Groups". Now delete your account that you created,
not the administrator account (it will not let you - duh!).
To do this simply right click the account and choose
"delete". Now to make the Administrator account yours. Right
click the administrator account, and choose "Properties".
Under the "General" tab, type in your name and delete the
description. Click "OK".
*Note - Your documents from your old account will still
exist. Your new documents folder will be the Administrator's
documents folder unless you want to change it to the
documents folder with your name.
OPTIONAL - To change your documents folder, click on the
vista start button. Right click "Documents" and choose
"Properties". Under the location tab, change the documents
folder to a folder of your choice by clicking the "move"
button.
I hope this helps the people who are annoyed with vista's
administrator style.
god damn the vdroop on my board is horrible. i have to set 1.5V in BIOS just to get 1.43-1.40V in windows. nevertheless, i'm priming my Q6600 away @ 3.6 GHz, and i'm going to let it sit a few more hours.
glad i did the heatsink mod on this mobo, as my PWM temps hit max ~80C under the utmost CPU load in prime. if i run blend test a few hours they hit the max 65-70C. at idle they are about 40C or a little lower.
the vdroop is still bugging me though, are people experiencing similar results?
it's kind of a 2 stage thing:
1st you won't actually get at the CPU what you set in BIOS even at idle but probably ~0.2V less. Still, knowing that it's easy to compensate for.
2nd then you'll get your idle>load droop which is probably ~0.7/0.8V with a quad. There is a vmod to cure it though if you're good with a soldering iron.
you can either do the vmod, which you can find info on in several areas on the site after some digging. Or since your 400fsb, just turn on c1E, leave EIST off it causes some issues.C1ewill jump your vcore up and down on load levels. it takes some strain off. My vcore is same 1.5 bios, droop about 1.44 under load. this new board i received has better droop then my first
the droop mod is the best, but iam getting rid of this sucker soon so dont matter really
for max fsb benching for fun though u must turn off c1e
i'm going to get rid of this mobo soon too, so i won't even bother doing the droop mod
droop is bad like that on my evga 680i until i pencil modded
don't believe that was my problem...i went into the administrator account and then into the secondary account...neither one would let me download updates...something happened when i created the 2nd account...i probably should have deleted the 2nd account to see if that opened up downloads again...i will try another install to see if i can duplicate the problem again.
once i did the reinstall, everything was fine for the administrator account.
If you run EIST and manually drop the multiplier strange things can happen.
I run both EIST and C1E enabled on both my IP35 Pro and AW9D Max. Both Dual Core processors are heavily overclocked and will pass a round of Orthos. Both overclocks were established and tested with EIST and C1E enabled.
I know others run both enabled with overclocked Quads, if you get freezes at the desktop my guess is you aren’t running enough Vcore.
Oh how I hate the squealing sound my mobo makes when I run Prime95 blend test, luckily it only hits in during 8-12K(?) FFTs and then fades away, and even then it's not squealing non-stop but varies a lot. Strangely it doesn't occur during the small or large FFTs tests. Or at least I hope it's my mobo as I'm going to get rid of it anyway...
Hey guys can someone please explain the memory dividers with this board? I'm used to seeing the typical 1:1, 4:5, 4:3, 2:3 etc. options in the bios.
So if I'm running 425x9=1700fsb (3825mhz) and my ram is PC8500 what option should I be setting in the bios to get my 1066? Sorry for the confusion
@425 FSB the 1:1.25 option will give you about 1063.....just change the dividers in bios, it will show you the resulting memory speed before you actually set it (it won't actually change anything unless you save and exit bios).
425 x 1.25 = 531.25 x 2 for DDR = 1062.5
damn i like those abit ip35 pro they seem so great i wish price would go down or x38 would come out
i think the earliest for the X38 is in the 2nd week of october.
I am beginning to think it might be time to RMA this board. I took the heatpipes off to remount and make sure they were not too tight. Even with the bolt mod I still had 3 or 4 of the PMW chips that didn't make contact with the hs, And yes I had made sure it was laying flat and the bolts were tight. This board when it was new had a corner to opposite corner warp but I figured once it was bolted down it wouldn't be an issue. And I am still having power issues of some kind. If I take the vCore above 1.5 and start Prime I get an instant shut down. If I max the MCH I get an instant shut down. When I finally get an o/c that is Prime stable, give it a few days and it will no longer be stable. I get almost a a full .10 drop on vCore at idle from the bios settings. I have swapped an Powerstream 520 for the PCP&C 850 thinking it was a psu issue but it keeps getting worse. I am about to give up. Do you think it is just the motherboard having some kind of issues and I should RMA it?
This might be better off in the TRUE thread, but I'd appreciate if you guys could weigh on a temp situation here. The chips an E6400 @ 3500. I'm now @ 500 and the only limiting factors the heat so far. The TRUE's mount is solid, TIM applications fine, cpu and heatsink have been lapped sufficiently, but the pipes do not feel hot and I don't think it's pulling the heat away like it should.
cpu fan: Scythe SFLEX E 120mm @ 1200RPM
intake fan: 3 SFLEX E
exhaust fan: 2 SFLEX E
vcore: 1.475 bios
drop: 1.43/1.44 uguru/windows
droop: 1.41/1.42 orthos blend
room temp: 26C
idle core temp: 50C
load core temp: 65C
Doesn't that seem a little high? Thanks!! :D

Yup, and all fans spin @ 1200RPM in a Stacker 810 w/ no grills. They're rated @ 49CFM, 25DB. I'm a big fan of a very quiet pc, so a higher noise fan's not an option.
I guess my main question's whether or not you guys have warm or hot heatpipes on your TRUE's. Most of you seem to be running quads, so surely it'll be warmer.
Thanks!
Help guys. Not sure what the hell is going on but it's very frustrating. Machine was running fine at 3.8 (425x9), turned it off, went to bed, came home from work the next day, fire it up and the thing won't overclock for crap. Heck even running the "Turbo Mode" in uGuru just reboots the machine. It's like it only wants to run at stock settings. So I cleared the CMOS, pulled battery etc...boot back up and try overclocking again and same story.
I know it's not the ram as I've ran Memtest at stock speeds and passes 40+ loops on 5.
Suggestions?
@ace-a-rue - did you tweak your gtl voltages for your overclock or are they stock at 67%?
thanks!
Ok then, it's probably just my cooling arrangement. I can live w/ quiet 3500. :D
whats the best bios version at the moment?
tnx :)
tnx for a quick response :D
has anyone tried M629B_12.B01 and memset 3.3?
i tried memset 3.2-3.3 and it's not working with M629B_12.B02 bios :(
Thanks guys. I went back and set up Vista on Intel's Matrix Array system. I created a volume for my programs and a second one for storage. Both are Raid 0. I bumped up the voltage to the SB like many said, and I got a stable array. :woot: I found out that many also had to enable VWBC in order to get high speeds, so I'm not worried about that anymore. :)

Now that looks a heck of a lot better than the erratic graph you were getting before.
It looks damn near optimal!
i think i need this board instead of my crappy evga 680i i will soon be doing another rma because board shorted out again
i think a lot has to do with the modules you have installed...i am using 12.B02 and it is fine with me...i am running Teamgroup ddr1000 @980Mhz; SPD is prgrammed for 5-7-7-20-30 at 1000Mhz...i am at 4-4-4-12-20 and it is flawless up to now...no BSOD, no window freezes, no programs closing out on me...now...if i was a game-ster, it might not like those settings.;)
it all comes down to what your particular tasks you need to do with your computer and whether you have the right memory modules to accomplish it...i know there is another beta (15AT.B01) floating around (only for a few select have it, ATM) but it is not any better in memory speed..that new beta bios makes it compatible with more memory modules and allows better sychronization with 4 sticks of memory at default speed....i was told that it allowed for ddr1100 speed at default cpu clock speed...darn good if you don't intend to overclock!
This maybe the case .. what I found was that the 12.B02 would not allow for the GeIL modules to run the same timings, like it would not boot at 4-3-3-8 1T where as the 12.B01 does .. hence this is the one for my setup, in any case the Abit has allowed my various components to OC further and better than my other current P35/P965/680i boards and all this stock ... i.e. no vmods .... nice one Abit :D
Would be good to try the next Beta ;)
Guys I've great problem with this mobo and q6600... vdrop is great...mobo and the q6600. The vdrop is great. Can anyone post me the settings? Help me
The only "setting" that can help with the droop ->
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...4&postcount=12
Maybe we should sig that kind of stuff...
you have a nice chip ace. i cant clock mine past 3.7 and be prime stable unless i set 1.53 bios. 3.8 needs 1.6 vios, droop is about 1.54=/ Iam able to boot n such at 4.1ghz for basic task
my memory checks out find at well over 900mhz though so thats good
hey guys...thought you might want to take a look at the difference between a kentsfield and yorkfield at the same operating specs doing video encoding bench...significant difference in results for only doing about 3Ghz.

Hey Ace, I just checked Abit's eRMA site and it has an RMA number along with my request number. I am not at hoem to check my email but I am guessing they agree with you and the board is bad. I will wait to see about an email before I Paypal them the cross-ship funds though.
just got my board back from RMA, the first thing i did was the Ace-A-Rue mod something i did not do with my last one and i'm running 500x8 with kool temps all around (i'm using H2O to cool the cpu) any way the vdroop on this board is worst than my last one Bios settings 1.62 actual 1.56 two questions
1st is should i do the vdroop and see if i can get higher oc or should i be content with what i got since it is running perefectly
my temps idle are cpu 28, mobo chip 29, pwm 29, my sys is next to a window which i cracked open a bit and since i live in WA state temsp are pretty cool right now. under load temps stay pretty cool also
2nd BIOS is B10 any need to upgrade?
i know what you guys can offer is more on the form of opinions since sys is running great just like to hear what others think, thx for the great help on this thread
