Wow these legendary CPUs are still kicking!!
Wow these legendary CPUs are still kicking!!
check my sig :D
wow, looks you got a great one bro :toast:
only with that low voltage.
you know: good low voltage cpu's are most not good with high voltage/clocks.. or has a horrible coldbug. :yepp:
I don't think that chip has a bug that's SO bad. Most B1 chips from about the same week +- 6 weeks don't;) It seems as if the latest chips have the worst bug (0633 and up). This is a 0620.
My 156 is here, btw:D I think it can do the same as the 3800+, booted nicely on 3g/1.216v and ran orthos for a couple of minutes before I stopped it. 3.3ghz/1.39v atm, but not stable... My cnps9700nt isn't very flat, only makes contact with 1/3 of the IHS:yawn: That's why the temps go through the roof at stock voltages:D
Coldbugwise it should be nice, my 152 can take -15 for 290mhz htt:) And it's almost the same batch!;)
2 FX53's, 1 3200+ sempron, 1 Opty 1218, Opty 144 s940, 3100+ sempron s754, 4 opty 842, 2 2x512mb kits (hopefully BH5, but not sure) and Iwaki RD30 + Meanwell DC power supply unit - that's what I got today:D
this weekend we have an oc-session with our overclocking team switzerland. my first steps on am2... and ~25x socket a cpus.
but after the 6400+ oc try i'll be the ln2-buddy.
Is that the 6400+ from Dukee ? This should be very good under Dice or LN2 ;)
@ Knut
0620 isnt so ggod I think. should do 3.5 to 3.6 ghz I think.
yapp it's that one of duke. (only one e, dukee is from germany ;)) the monster-tube will do his job. :)
3day left.
btw: ripping.org cracked today the 1/2 million visitor mark. and there are more people from china on the site than ever.
We'll see how that 0620 does in a little while;) I'll try it on a TT BT when my Venus arrives.
Btw, 230x14=3220MHz/1.31v is my new 156 24/7 setting:p:
This thing totally smokes everything else I have, the only downside is that the temp sensor is a bit crazy. No idea what to think about the temps. idle in BIOS is 39c at this setting. Core temp reports 22-23c, and 35-36c load. ITE reports 33-34c idle, and 43-44c load.
If the BIOS reading is correct, then this chip should be in the low 50's load. On chips I KNOW have decent temp sensors, the core temp is never lower than ITE temp - so by looking at it that way, the BIOS reding looks most right. The 9700nt I'm using had contact with about a third of the IHS (in the middle, but NOTHING near the edges). After a wuick lapjob it's slightly better, but since all I had was a sheet of 180 grit paper as well as a 400 grit sheet, the results weren't the best. I guess it's having contact with half the IHS now, but it's more scratchy than before.
Any comments about this temp "problem"?:)
I could give you one screen from my Opteron 156 under air and default vcore....let me search it. I have the same temps like yours so it should be real. Read out with smart guardian and speedfan. Core temp didn´t works correct.
not bad. ;)
let's play

:D 230L LN2 yammie!!!
hehe, good luck gianni :D
thanks... spent 500$ for ln2 & dice. :D
WOW awesome looking GPU containers gianni-gt
@ Knut
I receaved your mail ;) I could send the FX-55 together with the FX-53 to safe shiping costs ;) When do you want to pay for the FX from ebay ?
@ gianni
Good luck with the "other" hardware :D
yeah no.7 overall amd

:)
gratz gianni. :toast:
Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DQ6 ;)
yup, :)
@masterofthereal.
look in the cpu-z link on the left side. ;)
Nice score with such a crappy board (DFI FTW!):D
Where did the coldbug hit ya? And is this a B8 chip?;)
knut, can you show your oldest 939 CPUs? Thanks ;)
best temp was -28°C on the tube. don't know the cpu-temp, haven't any tools for that on the hdd. :) and i don't know what chip it was. i think with that cpu i can go higher, but on that board i had only that easytune crap. bling bling but not really usefull.
Nice results for a crappy board :D
I've killed a few DFi boards in the past... after tearing an IHS off with by bare hands during a heatsink-removal I think I understand why these boards don't aslt too long in my possession:D
new article: http://bastel-gianni.ch/projekte/art...w=ln2session04 (part 1)
we still have 150L LN2 so tomorrow start the next session. i have a good opti 170. s939 is back. :)
great article as always gianni. :toast:
good luck for tomorrow :D
Good luck with taht Opteron but I dont think that is an good idea because LN2 and cold bug :D
socket 940 Opteron 242 wr is in my hands: http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=393585
stunned that are socket a clocks. :D hehe
I know but with multi 8 i cant go higher. Need some mods for the board.
maybe i'll try my 3200+ & 3800+ again, today... will see...

could try more voltage but i don't wanna kill the cpu, because it's not mine. but the cooles thing ever!! i've mounted the 7kg monster-tube on the cpu w/o hs. :D
don't know what stepping. the hs is in the trash. :D
hehe, thanks gianni ;)
Did you test the other cpus ?
nope...
haha stunned's birthday and i got a present. :D check out my user-title. :D
Nice one, gianni :D
Yesterday I forgot to bet for an KABYE 0524 VPMW FX-57....and one Opteron 144 KABYE 0542 FPMW....damn.
hehe they selling s939 cpus for 10$ in switzerland... funny thing :) but i've bought something different:
http://photos.bastel-gianni.ch/Low-D...ion/shirt5.jpg
hehe freaky.....
hehe nice clothing there :D
man where are you guys getting these 939 cpus? I have 2 mobos without cpus to put in them :( I cant seem to find them at any of my normal shopping locations... I just used my opty 146 cacje that did 3.0ghz air 24/7 on my dad's pc because i needed to get rid of some stuff and i had all these extra 939 boards but only my last golden 939 cpu left. :(
We buy them on ebay and in the forums all over the world :D
@ knut
0530 APMW ? That sounds very interesting, the old superpi 32 m record with an fx-57 was made with an 0530 apmw ;)
hey guys what do you think, could it be that my dfi sli-dr is slowly going to heaven? because that one which i use in my office pc can't save bios settings anymore. :(
Change battery and it will works ;)
Today I testet my Opteron 185 with some superpi....its hard to handle with cold bug but 3.6 ghz with default vcore are possible. but not with ram together...
X2 4800+ is on way to me... and one 4000+ 0631 APMW :D
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...lm/dfi1of1.jpg
Preparations are underfoot.
Processors are in the mail.
My 754 and 939 addiction grows.
Just looking around for some more ram to try and push things further, hopefully will have some 3200EL and 4800Plat Elite in the next week or two.
OT: Using the nf250gb again reminded me of how DFI got their name for good boards. Its just a lovely board to work with.
hey guys, just bought some 939 stuff to play with. a fx-57, opti 170, dfi expert, 2gb bh-5 :D
@ knut
I dont know the step of that 4800+....
The 185 is a 0628 bpmw...i try to beat your scores in superpi.
Its very hard to catch the superpi 1m score of knut and lunatic@98....
I only have UTT BH-5 that can do 265 mhz...so i have to change to my TCCD with 2-3-3-0 but higher htt...
Hehe...I thought that my Opteron 185 was going 3.6 ghz @ default vcore ...lol...that was my Opteron 156 :D Today I wonder why I only can bench with 3.55 GHz and 1.6 volts :D
But there are around 0.8 seconds left...i cant beat the score of knut :( my memories arent good enough... have to test with tccd @ 2-3-3-0 @ 285 mhz...this could help...
knut, did you tweak your os ? i dont tweak mines. only athlon64 tweaker and bios :D
I shut down services, make classic "font", only open the apps I need, make the default blue background and when I run pi I usually run 16k twice before starting the bench:p:
I found out about performance mode 3-4 days ago so that "tweak" will be enabled as well the next time:D
You'll find a 2x512mb Mushkin Redline XP4000 kit on german ebay right now;) I won't get them (after paying you I don't have much left on my bank account:D)
I saw that Mushkin kit...looks nice for me...we will see ;)
I only run 16k twice before the 1m run...no more.
I wonder how ugly is the cpu with different ram dividers and cpu multiplier...13x272 and 180er will runs but 12.5x280 and 180er wont do that...without multi 13 i can only bench with 3.45 ghz and not with the 3.55 ghz...
stunned... run > msconfig > set memory size to 106mb for 1M ;) 600mb für 32M ;)
once again: A64_SuperPi-Tweaking-Guide
Now, let's use gianni's tweaks to beat his own scores:D
Thanks, btw;)
Edit: I ran an Opty 144 on air last night, and I got 3453MHz on 1.52v and air, 31C temp on the core. I think the coldbug was about 415MHz at 26-27C, so there's room for lower temps. If this chip scales above 1.6v... the WR is mine, and even before my 0530 arrives :D
But my pi times were quite awful, 25.73s @ 3300MHz! I hope I can earn 0.5s by tweaking the sticks properly, didn't do much with the subtimings this time...
hehe no way :D to beat my 3700+ & 4000+ pi wr's you have to find an other golden one. ;)
Any hands on with a CABYE 0543FPMW?
Worth buying or?
CABYE is very good for single stage or better cooling ;)
@ gianni
thanks for the sheet of papers i will test it out :D
@ knut
whats the stepping of that opteron 144 ? that one is really good for air cooling !!!
Yeah got it at any rate.
Will be going under 50kg of DI not really looking to chase any records just personal ones :P
Knut, with the tweaks of gianni i m only 0.3 seconds behind you...with 3.551 ghz and 180er divider...need better ram...bought a hour ago 2x256 mb corsair pc3200LL and 2x256 mb corsair PC3500C2 :D Both with BH-5 and Ch-5 ics...so the party can begin :D
I did it i did it...k.i.h. in superpi 1m  and this with around 35 mhz less ram speed than knut ones !!!!
http://www.abload.de/thumb/23.844wzfrh.jpg
Heheh congrats.
hehe stunned nice one. ;)
nice results for amd jeje great job
gianni you are my teacher and i m the student :D first time ever i did so much tweaks...and it helped.
i could run superpi 1m one time only after the boot that was ever the fastest run. if i run a few time more i never get such strong time.
its nice to see that my starting times are slower than knut ones but in the end it will be some faster thats all i need :D
now i will run with tccd and 1:1...will see the same time !
X2 4800+ arrived .... CCB2E 0536 UPMW.... not really well but I will do my best. Default vcore is 1.264 v @ Ultra-D :D
woot my thread is now our thread. check the title. :D happy benching.
and that after almost 100k views. :D hehe
Cold bug is really low...236 mhz @ -34c....with -2c i also have 282 mhz. best temp is between +10c and +13c.
Its hard to bench but a little more than 3.5 ghz are available. these should be no.4 in the world.
I could only do 1.776 volts as the maximum, with higher voltage the pc shuts down in win :D
Our thread !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeah !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I decided to kill my A64 3000+ no matter what Vcore I'm gonna use !
will post the results soon, it's a bad stepping anyway so i'm not expecting more than 3ghz @ 1.9v
Tried a chip that wasn't too nice on normal temps, but suddenly it became a gianni-killer on dice!
3800+ venice WR is now MINE!:D
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=400433
nice, gratz bruce :D
What the hell !!! Very amazing chip....could you tell me the stepping ?
CAB1E 0622EPMW - I've had 6 of these I think. Some suck, but this one had a VERY nice coldbug for a B1, WR made at -17 I think.
WIN!
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=400740
Opty 156 + overall 939 non-fx WR: 4007 MHz @ 1.63v (will test more when I use my pot - using a copper heatsink with dice atm).
:D
DAMN DAMN DAMN!!!!! can't believe it!!!! you made my day...
venice wr stats:
2x gianni
2x bruce
1x stunned
opteron wr stats:
9x bruce
2x stunned
0x gianni
a black day.
but most important for me: sandiego wr stats:
2x gianni
1x bruce
0x stunned
:D
Knut that is really hard !!!!!! cant believe that there is one golden opteron 156....this is great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where do you got these one ? Stepping ? cold bug ? 1.63 volts arent any voltage....
What do you think about LCBQE 0730 DPMW ?
as you know every cpu is working 200mhz better on knut's board than anywhere else. ;)
That is the chip that I waited for since last August (!). Well worth the wait, then:D
Stepping is AAB1E 0601WPMW. I also have an opty 152 with appox. the same stepping (CAB1E not AAB1E). Should do 3.9 easy when I bench it. No dice for it this time, unfortunately.
I don't remember the exact coldbug, but I think it was a LITTLE better than yours (~ -23 -25C @ WR). I had a lot of stuff to try out so I didn't REALLY push any chips this weekend. I tried a nice 4000+ claw, got it to just above 3.4GHz with 1.78v and -40C. Still 200mhz less than the WR, but this chip coldbugged at 350 MHz at those temps, so should be possible to lower the temps 20C or so I hope. I also think that AX-chips respond to higher voltages (this chip became too hot above 1.8v on dice, so no gains this time) so there may be 100MHz to get there.;)
I also tried a new 3200+ Manchester, but I need LN2 on it because of high temps at high voltages:p: Maybe I can go 10-20MHz above my old record with that one. My 3500+ clawhammer was pretty decent as well, but I have a feeling it didnt scale very well above 1.8v. if Im wrong, this chip would very well take the WR under Ln2. Same story with my 4600+ manchester ES. Got it to 3610-3620, but I could easily go down a few degrees before having coldbug issues.
Now Im testing my 940 server on air cooling and some optys I got a while ago;) Like 2 Opty 866's. Core temp says they are "Dual Core Prototypes" :D
My 856's aren't as great as my 156. Need 0.05-0.075v more than my 156 at same clocks, and similar (perhaps a LITTLE bit lower) temps.
You are a freak !!!
I got one 3200+ Newcastle again....and the opterons from the usa like 848, 240, 242 and 252....that 252 is CAB1E 0601 XXXX....some young stuff.
I looked the time for one 4000+ clawhammer but didnt find any one....i had one but there i had no ln2 ony single stage....shuold break the record very easy with higher voltages and lower temps.
Can you show me one picture of that opteron AAB1E please ?
Some new dimms arrived today --> 2x256 MB corsair xms256a-pc3500C2 rev 1.1 --> BH-5 for hell....should do 300 mhz i believe :D
What board are you using? I got an ASUS K8N-DL. Can't get the damn HTT above 275MHz, instant freeze... If you know some trick to get above that wall, please tell me!:D
Which week is that BH5 kit btw?;)
Edit: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...0&d=1203627134 - I posted a pic of that156 a long time ago ;-) Which is nice, as I dont have a camera + that the chip is in my rig atm :P
Wow.. That is truly an amazing result. The highest i have gotten is 3600MHz on air with my LE-1620. ;P.
Gz to the WR
but only 2x256...
Crazy BH-5 :D
I'm using this chip to try to get the WR
ADX6000IAA6CZ
CCB3F 0711VPMW
1650644C70053
:D
No superpi stable with 300 mhz...i think its only cpu-z :D
My last 2x256 mb twinmos bh-5 did 294 mhz superpi 1m...and 288 mhz prime blend !!!!
@ knut
I use a Asus SK8V with Via K8T800 chipset....i could only go to almost 280 mhz...today my opteron from the usa arrived...newest is one cab1e 0619 cpmw 252er.
board was modded for single stage today...and yesterday i testet out all the voltages...from 0.8 volts to 1.75 volts with an fx-51 by the way. 0.8 volts run with 800 mhz....best i could done.
s.i.h. !!!
Today I cracked my own 3200+ newcastle record....more than 2.9 ghz with single stage and 1.71 volts only....with default vcore i could got 2.65 ghz...but with that 1.7 volts i had almost 0c so i think ln2 will be the key for 3 ghz :D
That isn´t right...there are only a hand full of sticks of 2x512 mb bh-5 that can do 300 mhz...most of the sticks do between 275 and 290 mhz...but 300 is much away.
You have one of that good ram in your signature ;)
Today I got one 4000+ KAB1E 0631 APMW....but its not an San Diego or Athlon64 :D its something different :D:D:D
http://www.abload.de/thumb/4000opteron8138wzmbc.jpg
0631 APMW suxx :D like i said.... hehe
but that chip is very strange...
Its one with a G in the middle of the 3. line.
Another one 0631 APMW is also on way to me :D
