trust me you know quite alot,i was just frustated that i was getting 11000w/write/copy and just falling short of 10000/read(always 9950. but i tried lowering trfc to 55 and got it to 10000.
Anyone know how to solve the problem between the Strap 2:40 and MCH Volt above 1.440? I really like this strap but to not be able to raise the MCH voltage is just a pain.
Finally started to play with this board again but can't find anything on the volts measuring points, wanna take multimeter reading to calculate the references %.
Anyone wanna share this info? Maybe older Gigabyte boards share the same spots for vcore, vmch, vdimm etc?
i would like to know that too.also does anyone know whats the optimal way to set my pagefile system when using 8 gigs of ram?im not very well versed in the software side of things, but from what ive readthe paging file is space used on the harddrive as if it were ram, right. so if i have all this extra(task manager shows 1.34gigs being used)wouldnt it be better for my system to use the ram instead of the harddrive?isnt the ram faster?or do i have this all wrong? someone here must know this kind of stuff,i surely could use some advice on this issue. thank you

Hi Guys,
Decided to bench on AIR with a normal priced air cooler (below$35) to keep peoples hopes up on this amazing cpu.
All low volts for people that want 24/7 use: 1.376vcore, 1.400vtt, 1.57pll, 1.40vnb, 1.20vsb (except ram that I needed more juice to keep tight timings and 5:6 strap).

Hi amwhitey,
The bios settings for these clocks are in the links below, for the ud3R, may give you a guide:-
E8600 4,160 8x520@2B 1,040Mhz 5-5-5-14
E8600 4,260 8x533@2B 1.066Mhz 5-5-5-14
luck:up:
I was able to run my Q9650 with the Xig direct touch at 4.5 @ 503 FSB and it was grerat, bvery stable, I never ran 11 hours of that stuff, but did all the futuremark stuff, and played a lot of games, I love this board adn CPU.... Q9650 and GIG UD3P :surf:
Thanks Supershanks for the settings. I'll give those a try and see what happens.
Jor3lBR,
i just took a peek at your bios setting (above) again, it seems to me that your DRAM setting is might be too tight?
did you try setting memory timing differently to see if you can lower the DIMM voltage down to may be 2.1-2.2v?
i don't have a Q9650 and the ram kit, or i would check it out myself, i'm just wondering is this overclock really need to use 2.3v on the dimms?
Yes it does if you want to use the 2:40 strap. Max Vmch that strap offers is 1.40vmch.
The rams are fine 2.3vdimm on BIOS = 2.25vdimm Real on Dmulti and 2.28vdimm shown on the ET6.
I would try PL7 1:1 strap latter to see if there is a big loss.
My OC testing begins isolation any ram errors, Config BIOS > Memtest DOS 2 passes > Memtest windows 150% > then I go to small fft's 8k and 10k if passes I will blend it above 3hrs.
Anything less on the Ram would give Memtest #7 errors. I will play with the other options too and see if I can discover anything else. Today I lowered the DRAM Terminations and References to below 50% a bit and could reduce vdimm a bit.
But if you have a 120mm fan you will be good till 2.4vdimm (probably 2.35 real).
you probably need to use more NB volts. i'm sure 2.3-2.35v is fine for the kit, but like i said i'm really wondering why it has to be this high.
for the DRAM settings itself, if you willing to try something new, there are a few different settings to try.
but since i don't have the hardware (especially the GSkill 9600 PI kit) i’ll have to let you discover them.
i would say try using XMP profile and leave the 2nd/3rd timings in the Advanced settings to Auto, don't set the Drive Strength Profile, diable the DDR Write Training on both Ch A & B
and then also try setting the Extreme Memory Profile to Auto, but set all timings manually in the bios.
i still use 700mv/700mv at the Advanced Clock Controls for my 500fsb, no Clock Skews settings everywhere, but my CPU is Q9300
2.3-2.35v in BIOS is not real panging as I said I got Digital Multimeter here that shows my Ram below 2.26v.
Dunno if you read my entire post but I'll say again MCH Voltage on 2:40 Strap is broken on all Gigabyte EP45 UD3 series boards and thus far there is no fix for it, I would need at least 1.5mch to lower vdimm to 2.1 or 2.2 but it's stuck on a max 1.440vmch because of the strap problem. If you put MCH voltage above 1.440 results in a no post condition...
Yes I just discovered that lowering the Dram Refs and Termination will allow you to lower Vdimm, I'll try few things you suggested too. Thanks.
you're right, sorry, i didn't read every words you wrote above.
it's new to me about the volt limitation problem on the NB, this due to i've never needed more than 1.40v, i'll try a more higher overclock on my quad and try using more NB volts and see for myself.
and btw, if i recall correctly, when i used XMP profile, i also set Turbo, and i didn't set tRD value in the bios.
for an example, on my 8800 PI kit's EPP timing (or XMP profile 1 in bios) it would be like 5-5-5-15 / 4-4-13-68-4 (this's a stock timing for DDR2-1066 as an EPP), and i used to use the timing to overclock the ram kit and it worked quite okay.
so all i did was to set the XMP at profile 1, set Turbo, and didn't set the rest of memory timing and tRD value at bios to auto.
Everest's memory read/write/copy was a little lower but not that lower, and i think Everest's L2 Cache read/write/copy was improved.
@Jor3lBR,
i like to update about the NB/MCH core voltage limitation, i just tested it right before i posted this.
this is a 1.50v MCH core, i set MCH ref. to "Normal"
after the CMOS is saved the system boots up fine in to Windows, i already try rebooting a couple time to see if it boots, it's seem okay so far to use MCH core voltage above the value you mentiond with 333 strap and 2.4B.
http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/7...7130557ob7.png
the rest of voltage and ref. settings in bios i just happen to picked all these values when i set the CMOS just to see if i could boot the system. this doesn't mean i can stable my Q9300 with this setting yet.
however, it seems to me that may be i will need less voltages than this since my 500x7 stable with quite less volts than this one.
Hello
I need some advice from u. I got some new RAM OCZ Reaper Rev. 3 1066 version. I want to run my RAM in PL9 but it doesn't boot with it. I tested 333 and 400 strap. I got 510 RAM clock run with 2,4b and PL9. But no Boot with 510 FSB 2,0B and PL9.
Here is a screen for higher FSB
http://www.abload.de/thumb/pl10-pl9qeewr.jpg
Thanks for looking into this panging  I tried everything but it's a still no go, probably I need 1Gb sticks it may be ram related.
Using 333/2:40b strap if I boot with NORMAL on MCH volts it will get in Windows with 1.1vmch :ROTF: and if I try to raise to 1.5vmch on ET6 = Instant OS Freeze. Again if I raise in increments to 1.440vmch everything will go fine but after that freeze in OS or no boot in DOS :shakes:
If I boot on AUTO (Mch core) it will double boot and restore defaults, probably because it's trying to set it above 1.440mch.
Funny thing is nobody on Gigabyte seams to have an answer for this.
Oh before I forget I have 2 boards and tried this on like 4 boards. Versions 1.0rev and 1.1rev.
I will try 1Gb sticks and see.
Hello there your full bios template would easy our job here, just copy from last page my template and post it here between the CODE tags (click on the # on the toolbar and put the template in between the CODE tags).
2:40B strap requires a little more volts then normal and also PL9 will require more MCH volt and more Vdimm volts too.
Remember the voltage you set for Vdimm in bios is a little higher then reality. 2.3vdimm in BIOS = 2.26vdimm in reality from my measurments. So if your setting 2.15 will be more likely that your ram is receiving less then 2.1v.
You can also try settings the RAM References and Terminations one step lower then the default 50% it's set, so for 2.0vdimm Ram references and terminations shold be 1.0v I would lower that to the next step down.
Again send template so we can help you better. Template example:
Hit CODE (#) on toolbar and add the template:

Thanks Supershanks for the settings. I'll give those a try and see what happens.
I thought i'd cracked the ram stability when i got it running at 4,320 10x432 @2.66D 1,152 5-5-5-20 but if I try to use 2.00B or 2.00D above 1066 I'm still struggling to get stability. I'm using F6A Bios. Ram is Crucial Ballistix Single Sided 8500 5-5-5-14 2.0v CL1119H.DY.
Had no such issues with the EP45-Extreme , strange .
Anyone mind sharing their settings for 600+ FSB with a dual? I am having one hell of a time getting even SPI 1M stable. It will boot windows all the way up to ~640 but nothing will run above 600. CPU is known to do 650 8m stable on the Tpower I45. Any help is appreciated.
This board allows people to boot and enter windows @ 650FSB on duals, and 560FSB on quads. That is probably because of the Rev.A3 chipset. But due to its 6 power design only, I haven't seen people doing good stable FSB on this board, neither on dual or quad cpu's. Also, this board needs more volts then other good p45 boards, to perform the same overclock, and it heats way more.
For this reasons, I believe so far this is a good board to bench with, but for 24/7, I have my doubts. Maybe it needs better bios or so.
Wow I don't think your been here lately or you own another board... There is no other board that I've tested with my same chip (Q9650) that could do 11hrs Prime95 Blend on Air @ 4400Mhz with 1.37vcore... Because of it's extra cooper the board and components won't heat at all considering the high fsb or mhz's. People that are not stable yet is because they can't seem to find the right combination between MCH ref, Cpu Refs, Dram Ref's etc.
Just read few pages back and you can see these results.
Stability is gained with a lot of work between MCh Ref and Cpu Ref, these value are the hard ones to get at first, don't think that leaving them at the same default value will take you anywhere.
Also playing with Dram terminations and refs are also very important.
I can bust a 8+hrs Prime95 blend stable setup with a slight change in the MCH Ref down or up, thats all it takes...
I'm sorry I can;t help you further because I play with quads :( But I'm sure there are people above 600fsb stable out there.
the trick is too as with most boards you can actually loose your stability with too much voltage people think voltage solves all however you cant jump from 450 to 650 and just up the vtt and nb voltage to ridiculous levels you need to inch up levels at a time then you know whats too much and too little at higher bus speeds things get really finicky
Just for reference
What voltages recommend it for use dry ice in a EP45 UD3P, I have an E8400 so far I have only managed a 530 FSB on air but the temperature is very high.

can you help me?
@ simps, i dont know why you keep in sisting that these boards are not 1.stable at high fsb 2. require high voltages 3.are not good 24/7 boards 4. heats up more than other p45 boards.based on my own experience all four of these thing are untrue.there was a time in the begining where people were using auto volts(and yes the board set them very high for high fsb).but just look at pangingIII's and others OC's.most require less than 1.38v NB for 545fsb+,and ive seen as low as 1.30 vnb for 545fsb.but on average the volts required for 545fsb+ is about the same as any other p45 chipset board.all three of my maximusII board ran considerably hotter than my ud3p,but mind you my max's are all defective.
Thanks man
I have a GIGABYTE EP45 UD3P
well heres a quick test at 550fsb with 8GB of g.skill pc-8800's.not bad at all.ive only owned three boards p5q-deluxe,maximusII and this awesome board.it really is amazing what can be done on these boards.for instance memory overclocking, many records have been broken since the release of these boards.and the clocks people are getting with the Q9650 is just astonishing.keep it up guys.as soon as the prices drop,i'll be getting one myself and with all the work you guys have done, well it will just make it easier for me.thank you.http://i41.tinypic.com/2h6vl9g.jpg

Jor3lBR, radaja, systemviper,
I am sorry, english is not my first language, and sometimes I might not sound the way I want to. I am not trying to say UD3P's are not good. They are, don't get me wrong. I don't think I will be able to explain it the way I want to, so I just won't. Has to do with what I understand (or what I think I know) about 16 phase power os asus boards, or 12 - 8 phase of other boards vs 6 phase power of the UD3P's.
We can investigate, how well this board can do a stable 24/7 overclock, by comparisons. That I think, would lead us into some conclusions.
I only have an aircooled 65nm B3 quad (my board is aircooled too), and most of you guys here are on Q9650. But anyway, I will post how I am running my quad, 24/7 on my Maximus II Formula.
The board voltages required to do it, and board temps, are there on the pic below.
This is 10 IBT loops on max stress and 4h+ prime blend.
Can some of you guys with quads and UD3P, post the same overclock (494FSB) on your boards, and show the same 10 IBT loops on max stress + 4h prime blend, so we can have a comparison, in terms of the volts both boards needs to perform this overclock 100% stable?
I will later, post a 500FSB pic for 24/7 too. But first, let's see how both boards compare on 494FSB, shall we?
I don't wanna make this a competition, please don't understand me wrong. I just want to compare both boards, and see how both performs under 24/7 setting. This might turn out interesting.
The main thing to look on the pics, will be how many volts each board needed to perform the same overclock (vNB, vFSB, vPLL mainly), and of course, if it is stable, by completing those tests. It is important that ram clocks are equal too. In this case, I am running DDR2-1186 5-5-5-18 PL8 STRONGER. There is no setting FSB inside windows, no memset, no changing voltages on-the-fly. Just entering BIOS, setting values, booting, entering windows and running stress programs with bios settings only.

I need less PLL, VTT then I did on my P5E.
fatguy1992,
I see you also have a 65nm quad. That would be ideal to be compared to my 65nm quad, since you have a UD3P. If it is possible for you, try to match that 494FSB and this 500FSB on your quad, and then post pics of it, so we can compare to my Maximus II Formula results, in terms of board volts needed.
As I promissed, here is the pic of 500FSB. I am still priming (1:45h so far), and took the pic while stressing it, so the mobo load temps are shown too. I will keep priming till it reachs 4h. You can see on the pic I ran 20 loops of IBT on max stress this time too. It is just rock solid stable.
I also lowered mem clock to DDR2-1000 5-5-5-18 PL10, so people won't need higher end mem to compare. Almost every memory available today will do that.
The voltages required by Maximus II Formula to perform this 500FSB on my 65nm quad, are there on the pic too, reported by everest.

Now I'm not saying ur lying but, just cause u wright ur volts and temps on a screen shot doesn't mean there correct or believable.
Remember i'm not saying ur lying or anything.
I am a member since 2002, one of the oldest. And I have 300 posts. Believe, I am not the kind of people that would cheat or lie on xtremesystems. Try to look for guys registered this year, with 10 posts for that kinda trolling.
I am not writing anything on that screen. That is a program called EVEREST. That program has a OSD display (witch is what I use), and you can custumize that display, with different colors, fonts, sizes, etc.
That program "EVEREST" is reporting those voltages and temps. I am not doing anything. And those reports are accurate. There is nothing wrong there.
You can download everest here, and see for yourself that OSD screen:
http://www.lavalys.com/products/down...?ps=UE&lang=en
Also, I have wrote a guide, on how to configure a motherboard (GTL's, skews, etc) to reach high FSB's with low volts. You can read it here, on post #2720.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...90812&page=109
Here is other SS and a celphone pic I took just now.
I am still priming (2:30h so far), you can name the program you want, I can download it now and show a SS for you, with your program reporting those voltages and temps.

My bad I didn't know there was a program to do that :(
I also use Everest, but I didn't know it had the OSD and thanks for the guide.
BTW I was NOT saying u were lying, and you weren't anyway, I just thought I wrote that stuff.
Ur English is fine.
BTW i'v been looking in my Everest and I can't find the OSD?
Here it is. Just find this on your everest, and you will be able to configure your OSD (I don't know if on english versions, it is called OSD too...)

Hope it helps,

Thanks
The only bad thing is that the Everest I have doesn't read the volts on the UD3P :(
That is strange. It should. Go to OSD items or so. There are a lot of OSD items you can add. Maybe your voltages are just not selected there...
I found the place were I select what I want to display, but it doesn't detect my volts, it doesn't detect them in the senors tab either :(. I could get a BETA version that does, but its a trail edition.
Your version is probably old, or limited. Everest is cheap, you can go for the 4.60 ultimate version. That is a must. That is the only program I use to monitor my pc / overclock. I does everything.
I have version 4.6.
how do you manually set pl level? is there a way besides changing that one setting from turbo to extreme?
545 seems stable at 1.22cpu term and 1.26nb but its pl 11 lol.. help !
here are some results with my ud3r.....im selling this e8400 pm me if you want it http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...1&d=1227678191
Why are u selling ur E8400?
im just thinking of going quad or maybe i7 got a few p4,s lying around to hold me over till i decide what im doing....remember those 2 sticks of cellshocks i was selling..ask radaja about em he put em side by side with his other 2 sticks cellshocks on his ud3p and all 4 sticks booted to 1200mhz with out any change of the bios......i only sell good stuff just like this cpu i can give any one the bios settings i used on my ud3r and this bad boy will fire up at 4.45 ghz at 3.44 volts on any ud3r or p...and with only 3.44.v theres more overclocking head room left in this chip and could be good for bench marking
I'd buy ur E8400 but...
I have a E8500 on its way (with my phase change) and I had to borrow the money for that so...
You're welcome and thanks for the info.
i personally never think these UD3P/R boards overvolt the vdimm settings so i never checked it with a DMM, but this mostly because one of my friend has already checked it and told me back when we first got our first boards.
as for vdimm voltage that are reported by software, which i use Everest's or ET6's HW monitor,
one of my UD3R has, for example, if i set vdimm 2.28V at bios i will see during idle in Windows 2.26xxV,
but my another UD3R will be 2.30V in Windows. and since i believe the boards don't overvolt the vdimm settings i really don't concern much on the real vdimm voltage value.
anyways, i'm still interested to know about the G.Skill 9600 PI kit under this UD3P or R board,
can you please check and see if you can overclock this ram kit to DDR1200 and using its rated voltage spec (or lower) and if possible, please try it all, at 375fsb, 400fsb, 450fsb and 480fsb?
I just woke up, stop priming and got this on my Maximus II Formula.
Anyway, can some of you guys with quads help on the comparison?

i supposed that's looking good.
but why you post that in here? lol.
The following settings give me a BSOD before entering Windows:
I am using BIOS F7c
Now, if I just change the the FSB to 400 and manualy enter my RAM timings and keep everything else on auto. I can boot into Windows and am prime stable for 3 hours...?
What do you think?
There are so many variables.
I also tried the settings listed a page or so back and could not get it to POST.

I have ordered a few motherboards 'open-box'. The only problem with openbox boards is sometimes you get an early revision of the boards. Does this board have any early revisions, and were they terrible? i'll only save $40 bux; but hey, $40 bux is $40 bux.Ive always had good luck; but I would hate to get a crappy overclocker or something like that.
I will be getting a q9650 to put on it. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks
Has anyone tried the UD3 with a 9800GX2? If so, please can they post up 3DM03 screenies with score breakdowns and clockspeeds?
Ideally around 4GHz 720/1100. I can interpolate the scores a bit if they're close to those levels.
Cheers!
@Simps
Yesterday I gave 500FSB a go, but I couldn't get it to load Windows :(
I'v run 515FSB before, so I don't know what setting I had wrong, but i'll give it another go in a few hours when I wake up.
I was just running Intel Burn test at 3.6GHz (400x9) and my NB temp was 65C, is that to high?
Thanks
About the 500FSB not booting, it is probably related to:
mem speed (lack of vdimm)
strap
vPLL
vFSB (vtt)
vNB
About 65C NB, yes I think it is hot. Try to add a fan to the NB heatsink. Don't let it run passive. What was your vNB for that?
@ pangingIII ,
I tried the settings and I was able to boot into windows. First time since trying to go to 4GHz, but it BSOD after about 5 min in Prime 95. Looks like this might be teh right path. Any other suggestions?
Thanks for your help,
-Jason
i like to suggest you to always post your letest bios setting if you want to get done with the basic of this particular overclock quicker.
I got 500FSB to run, but it wasn't stable. Turns out my references weren't right. I think if I tweak them a bit more it would be stable.
The vNB was only 1.2v for the 65C temps. I can't add a fan to my NB cause my IFX-14 is in the way :(. But when I get my phase change there will be enough room for a 12cm fan :).
I hope you can do 500FSB stable. And please post pics with stress tests, volts required to do it on your UD3P, and temps. Like those pics I posted.
I see you rocking arround with that phase unit on your quad :)
You will have a blast!
1.2vNB and 65C NB temp is a NO NO. You should really try to add a fan there.
We are on page55 of the thread, and there is an option to go to page 56 already!
Crazy forum bugs...
Yeah i'm really looking forward to getting my phase change.
Also yeah that forum glitch seems to happen quite a bit in this thread .
I'll see today if I can add a 92mm fan some how.
Sorry about that....
Here are my settings, I used what you suggested and I was able to boot into Windows, but BSOD in Prime 95 Blend...

Does anyone have any ideas how I could mount a 92mm fan to cool my NB?
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/m...2/BILD0433.jpg
okay i just finished reading your posts, i myself not able to write and read good english, it looks like yours is much better.
anyway, it seems like you want to compare board to board, also seems like you want to know into detail. and i say it also seems like you want to discredit just about every things about UD3's P45 board and everyone's idea of having to happen to own and/or about to own one of this UD3's P45 board.
so i think if you're my real world friends i would give or buy you one of these board since it will be much easy for you to have the another board (that you want to compare it with) with you,
and you will have plenty of time to work with your project and have plenty of information to write and to tell the world about what you found out on this UD3's P45 board.
Is there any way to get this board to a higher FSB with a quad without insanely high VTT?
And what is this board doing on auto.
I cannot get thing remotely stable or even to POST at a high FSB unless i use most everything auto.
Here's what i just did.
Q9550 @ 7x477 (way below it's max OC)
1.4vcore
AUTO VTT (ET6 reads 1.5)
AUTO CPU reference (ET6 reads 0.76)
1.59pll
AUTO MCH everything (ET6 reads as 1.2)
AUTO MCH reference (ET6 reads as 0.76)
It runs P95 blend stable, & IBT 5 passes stable.
So i go into BIOS & change VTT to 1.5 manual + GTL to 0.76 (both values same as being reported AUTO), & the damn board cannot POST.
So wtf magic is AUTO doing?
I don't want to be pumping 1.5vtt into my chip...i only needed 1.34v on my P5Q-D.
I assume ET6 is reading things wrong...
Any ideas would be great.
Hey n7 try jor3lBR's template, worked wonders for me. Only thing i changed was memory to 1:1 and set to to 4-4-4-12 pl9. I'm using a little lower vcore also. (1.40 bios 1.36 windows) I primed for 8hrs overnight no errors.
I just ordered a kit of gskill 2x2 9600's to replace these gskill cl4 8000's.
I can hardly wait for them to arrive. I moved from a TRUE to a good CPU only water loop yesterday and i know with good memory i can maybe get 4600mhz+ 24/7. Max temps now at 1.4bios 1.36windows Small FFT after 4 hours was 60c on all 4 cores.
Thanks again for the template.
Nice job with that Q9650, 4.4 @ 1.36, you gotta love that! Nice monster system, it's gonna rock especially with that GTX295, not much gonna get in your way!
Nob question...How do I post my bios setting template like everyone else is doing?
Thanks Nugzo I decided to set down a bit to help people with AIR. So I had fun trying to figure out best stable options for 45nm Quads.
No problem mate I'm glad I could help.
I'm afraid this board is not optimized for 2 sticks of 4Gb I'm having a hell of a deal to get my G.Skills runing smoth above 500fsb 1200+.
Hopefully I have a bad ram because I expect more from it. Give me a reply if you have luck with those rams and no MCH volt bug because I have it with 2 sticks of 2Gb's but not with 1Gb's.
Guys justa reminder of golden rule to stability on this board (at least for Quads).
MCH Reference has to be above default at least one or two 'houses'. And CPU Ref 1 lower for 45nm Quads.
Set VTT to Default 1.20v then CPU Ref and MCH Ref to their defaults. Set your desired VTT and after that raise the MCH Ref one time or two.
Keeping the default will give you Memtest #7 errors on Ram and then instability.
I tried to get the max. Fsb out of my RAM OCZ Reaper 1066 rev.3.
Every thing above this 535 FSB results in Errors in the Memtest.
I also tried to get pl9 to run but this results in a no boot situation.
Has any one advice for me,
here is my bios template.
This is the situation in vista with a long mem test in this settings.PHP Code:******Gigabyte EP45 UD3R******

and this is what ET6 shows with these settings
http://www.abload.de/thumb/535vvista7lgk.jpg
I got a prime large run 3h which shows no errors @ 545 but memtest -> error
http://www.abload.de/thumb/primelarge545nuqw.jpg
I always need a lower mch ref to get a boot. Every thing above 0.76 will result in a no boot or errors in apps in windows. I think this is a problem with the ud3r
I have exact same problem with you, MCH ref is a big problem in UD3 for C2D and cannot got certain stability, I can go test prime no error above 2 Hrs with 533x8 E8600 for proper ET6 voltage that should be (Mch ref 0.70)
but once again I go restart computer and then go test in desktop I have got instability with same voltage setting I do in previos......damm
I see many people got success stable with Quadcore 45 nm ,may C2D can't go above high FSB or..... we need to wait new BIOS
@Jor3lBR
on your post #1383.
you quoted wrong person or something, i was never writing the comment that you quoted.
Well, seems this board is pretty nice for 2x2 once you figure out GTLs.
But very :banana::banana::banana:ty for 4x2 GB.
I got 8x485 running P95 Blend just fine once i got lucky with the GTLs.

I was pretty happy, since that means i can do over 4 GHz, depending on how much voltage i am willing to put into my Q9550.
(8.5x471+ stable as per CPU volts).
But then i put back my other 2x2 GB (identical kits, just took one out to test initially).
And with 4x2 GB, things went to crap.
Cannot even POST past 465 with the 2.00D ratio/strap.
If i switch to 2.00B i can POST higher than that, but so far, cannot get over 467 in P95 Blend w/o errors.
I've upped VTT/MCH to 1.4v, but still instant errors.
It's not the RAM either; it can do DDR2-1050+ stably, & i've even tried Memtest86+ to be sure; it's more than fine.
Seems NB is crapping out w/ 8 GB...?
I finally got the pl9 to boot within 535fsb. I changed strap from 2.00B->2.00D. But when i reboot it makes the on-off move and resets the OC settings. maybe i need 2 adjust pll or mch.
Update a termination v 1.26 solved it i also changed Mch/Dram ref 0.89 but no stability tests yet

Hello All,
The following settings give me a BSOD before entering Windows:
I am using BIOS F7c
Now, if I just change the the FSB to 400 and manualy enter my RAM timings and keep everything else on auto. I can boot into Windows and am prime stable for 3 hours...?
What do you think?
There are so many variables.
