Basic timings are the first 4 you mention.
All the rest is not so important to mess around, unless you are a hard OCer and want to optimise your ram to maximum.

@RASTAVIPER
Thanks for this, I'll try it as soon I go back to home as I'm in the work now ( only 13 minutes to finish )
New bios! 0703 is now available from:
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...3A79-T_Deluxe/
Haven't tried it yet.
I wasn't able to find release notes for this BIOS. Has anyone seen any?
From the ASUS forums:
Quote:
[ 0703 ]
----------------------
01. Support ACC with AM2+ 45nm CPU.
02. Improve the system performance when use certain CPU.
03. Fixed System may show Boot fail message if ACC enabled.
04. Fix the problem that AM2 CPU Vcore voltage may be incorrect if change CPU voltage in AI Suite.
05. Fix the problem that AI_NAP may not work after resuming from S1 or S3.
06. Set the value of "Processor Frequency Multiplier" option in bios up to 35 for certain CPU.
07. Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx
(ACC is a overclock technique which can adjust the voltage and frequency for AMD CPU directly under OS)
So far so good:

If you don't mind can anyone post some pictures using aftermarket heatsink and this board trying to see how close it comes to ram slots, looking to grab corsair 1066 ddr2 with fan to see if fan will be able to fit without hitting heatsinik :) thanks
come someone also take a pic of stock phenom II 940 BE heatsink, im trying to find out if it has heatpipes
Yep it does :)
"yes" it does... at least better than on 0602 and 0701..
i can post with acc on auto or +2% on all cores (havenīt tried much more).
but booting windows with acc enabled does not work that well.
i could get into windows with acc on auto, but coretemp canīt read the cpu temp then. and when i opened aod to check temps i got a bsod.
I have ACC enabled in BIOS ACC set on all cores with +6......
http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/1690/17047243vi1.png
And I got my usual 25 degrees "bonus" temperature on my CPU readings (both in AOD and SpeedFan) when I enable ACC. Maybe it is some kind of strange offset/error reading, and the CPU has normal temperature?! But it ain't fun beginning :( to overclock with a idle temperature at stock frequence hovering around 73+ degrees...
I give up on ACC! I have tested every bios available (including a couple of betas), and ACC simply doesn't work!
But, other than that, 703 seems to be a stable bios, perhaps with one or two degrees hotter temps than previous!?
Yeah it sure is. I can hit 4GHz now with my 940BE where I couldnīt even touch it. But I donīt c any temp dff.
they shouldn't put ACC supported for am+ 45nm if it's not going to work right ever >_>
I've tested my chip with 1.70 volts it throttle at 72C it will kick down the multiplier to 4 so it will be 800mhz for a few seconds. Did you turn off cpu tweak ? my 9850 hated cpu tweak like 6-9C hotter with it enabled.
Since the new PII have them built in, I wonder by doing it this way through the bios over rides what is already built into these new chips?
I could never cold boot right up from bios with these settings before. I was able to reach them through AOD in windows
And I got 72C everything default  with ACC enabled... (Yes, CPU tweak enabled, but thats only a couple degrees which I presume give a good performance boost)
I wonder if this MB can handle a PII 940, which I eventually plan to get, or if something is wrong with my M3A79? On the other hand, it overclocks fairly well without ACC, and is rock stable...
What temperature readings are other people getting with ACC enabled compared to it disabled. Does anyone get the same temperature deltas (+25C) as I do?????
...
ACC Works exactly the same as the Beta701 for B3.
It may even be more stable.
Allows same High overclocks as preveouse 701.
Even the Supi 1m is the same speed as 701.
ATm i have not tried for 300HTT. All previose bioses are bugged with my 9950chip and will show 3800ghz after 293htt:confused:
0703 installed on first try and all voltages appear to be the same.
0701Beta
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...biosM3A79T.jpg
0703 Official
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...79Tpirun1m.jpg
AOD 0703 ACC +4/ CPU TWEAK/ Idle 35c /Bios reads 34c @ 1.74vcpu/1.66vNb@2630
People with PHII should notice (stability and possiable higher Overclocks) when using higher NB/Ram settings.
This does perform better than the 0701Beta with B3 . I dont have a 940/945 yet:mad:. Do not expect a huge Oc increase with 0703 over the 0701 Beta if that what you had before,, its more or so tweaked for stability with PHII ACC SHOULD NOW WORK. If it dosnt at first try lower voltages with ACC(not Higher) :yepp:
FWIW, it seems pretty safe to turn ACC on using the 703 bios with a PhII. I've been playing with it for a few hours and haven't had to move the jumper yet... (much better than 603 bios!)
Here are the things I've noticed so far:
1) It does screw up the individual core temp display in AOD 2.1.4 (and HWMonitor), but the TIMPIN1 still works so you'll have an idea of the CPU temp...
2) Unlike the 9950 which liked positive numbers (+4/+6) the PhII likes negative numbers better (-4/-6). I started off raising the ACC and went all the way up to +8, but I had much better luck on the negative side. The side benefit of that was that even at higher V's the temps stayed lower (of course thats assuming TIMPIN1 is reliable)....
These are very preliminary results, and ACC is just as confusing as it was using the 9950 but at least it's safe to play with again... ;)
Heres a SS of what I have so far.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...07_AOD_ACC.jpg
Actual speed is 3.85, not sure why AOD shows current speed as 3.71. I can only assume Bios still needs a little more work... :D
BTW, I'm running 64bit Windows7 now, so take that into consideration as far as odd results are concerned. It runs pretty stable so I doubt that has anything to do with the wierd temp/speed results...
Same setting in Bios ACC tho @ -6 with 1.45volts to CPU
http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/4885/acc6zv2.png
seems as if u have to leave cpu vdda voltage at auto when using acc.
my temp reading in coretemp is now working with +2% acc.
when i used 2.8v cpu vdda i got that funny 0°C reading in coretemp.
0703 seems way more stable than any previous bios version.
When is the new AOD coming out any rumors?...Even if I set ACC to minus same thing here, 0 on the cores, but I do get a reading in Everest for CPU temp only
200x18 cpu +2%acc tempreading is correct
200x18.5 +2% acc 0°C
such a nice bios... but itīs asus again...
the cpu temp in everest is 22°C for me all the time. it was like that on all bios versions. and 22°C canīt be correct, cause my water temp is between 33-35°C.
if everest showed the mainboard cpu diode it would be more like 40+°C.
i generaly find that if my water temps is 30 degrees C then my Motherboard diode is 40 C, this is confirmed with a seperate temp gauge (external)
so across the board, i am 10 degrees hotter than my water is
I was wondering if aod 2.1.5 was geared towards the phenom 2 since it had so much trouble running with Phenom 1. Maybe they had made some major changes that would work well with Phenom 2. But would not work with Phenom 1?
2.1.5 is working here
There was an update to 2.1.5. check the last 3 digits (238) i think it was (218) . the first release was bugged quite bad and was reported by a few inclduing myself.
Works fiiine here on BIOS 403 602 703
Well after hours trying to get 4Ghz i was able to post with 1.625v. but locked up after cpz- validate.
Above was with acc on auto.
ACC auto is the only thing that works for me. +2% and +4% i was able to post but not stable. ACC on negetive range wouldnt post.
before on 0602 i was only able to get 3.6Ghz stable
Now with ACC on auto im rock steady at 3.8Ghz with 1.575v
only voltage listed wrong is CPU its at 1.575v
Hiya, yu can get teh voltage to show correctly in AOD by changing the setting in the prefrences.xml file in the AOD install folder...!!
Need to change it to " <MaximumVCoreEnabled>1</MaximumVCoreEnabled> "
Out of interest however I too am finding that AOD 2.1.5 is showing incorrect clocks the target clocks are correct, but the current speed clocks are way off, currently showing as 3.7-3.8Ghz when I'm actually running at 3.3Ghz..!!!
CPU-Z and Everest 5.0 show correct values though..!!!
Hey :), looks like your chip is very similar to mine as far as clocks/V's goes..
If your memory is decent you may want to lower your multi to 18.5x and raise the HTRef clock. That will raise the CPU/NB/Mem all at the same time, and gives a pretty good performace boost. Ofcourse it's more to watch, but it's a worthy task. (no offense intended if you already knew this :D)
Like you, my AOD dosn't show correct temps on the tweak page. Actuall CPU v's are 1.565, all others are right. Heres a SS of my 99.999% stable clocks..
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3..._StableAOD.png
I've actually pretty much give up on ACC (again :yepp:), especially since the PhII supposedly has it built into the core and I really didn't see any improvement in OC.... Looks like there might be a slight edge on temps by going negative on the ACC, but it screws up my AOD temp readings and just adds another piece to the puzzle that is Phenom....
Hi Gener_AL..
Thanks I saw your earlier post about the version so I downloaded it again, to make sure.... but get the same problem with it.... I should say that this is in Win7 BTW...!!!
At first I couldn't get AOD to install in Win7 as it gives a message saying that AOD needs Vista or XP in order to run and then the setup closes...!!
I got around this by installing on another Vista machine, and then copying the Overdirve folder from C:/ProgramsX86/AMD/Overdrive in my Vista install, and pasting it into the C:/ProgramsX86/AMD folder in my Win7 install, needed to take ownership of the folder then to set the preferences.xml to enable max vcore, and then it started up in Win7 without any trouble, but it's giving me this Clock reading error...!!!!
Here's what I see in AOD..
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k2...OD_Piccopy.jpg
It could very well be down to the irregular method of installing it, I havn't really tested this version in Vista yet.... as I've been spending 100% of my time in Win7 at the moment...!!!
I'll have to boot into Vista and check to see.....!!!!
Hiya....yes that the way I did it the first time round, I just installed it in Vista on a different PC, then transferred the entire folder over my LAN from the Vista machine to the Win7 machine.
I havn't checked if it works on the Vista machine though...!!!
I'll try it again now...!!!!
Ok, after some quick tests I can definitely say that the new BIOS 0703 gives better perfomance both in single-thread and multithread benchs like Super Pi and Wprime.
Quick question, I'm running a 3870 X2 in the first blue PCIE slot, I have a single 3870 in the second blue pcie slot. Is there anyway I can make the 3870 the default adapter instead of the single 3870?
I'm pretty sure it's in the BIOS settings to choose which pci-e slot is the primary graphics
Excuse my english
Can sameone tel me if this memory kit
G.SKILL DDR2 F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK 2x2GB

are compatibles (works fine) with Asus M3A79-T Deluxe
thanks
In QVL MARK 1) "SUPPORT FOUR MODULES INSERTED INTO BOTH THE BLUE SLOTS OR THE BLACK SLOTS AS ONE PAIRS OF DUAL CHANNEL EMORY CONFIGURATION"
BUT NO MARK 2) "SUPPORT ONE PAIR OF MODULES INSERTED INTO EITHER BLUE AND BLACK SLOTS AS TWO PAIRS OF DUAL CHANNEL MEMORY CONFIGURATION"
IīM CONFUSED 1) YES AND 2) NO?:confused::confused:
THANKS
Hey all
I need suggestions for watercoolers for the M3A79-T Deluxe, SB/NB/Spawa Section :)
thx
Can you run 8gb of 1066 dual channel on this board?
I see stuff saying that 1 channel per core and clocking it down to 800mhs and all that.
I would like to buy 8gb of ram at 1066 dual channel, but if i cant run it at 1066 in dual channel, whats the point?
Does it just default to 800mhz and you have to manually set it to 1066 or is there more to it?
Can some one enlighten me? Please
i can run @1066 very easy, currently i'am @ 1120
Bios sets it default to 800 so that i have to set it manually.
I have no issues running my 8gig @ 1066. I've had it higher actually.
so you have to set it manually.
No Biggie..... Thats good...
Is it running in Dual Channel though at 1066 still? Or that a bios setting that i have to set as well?
runs as dual channel by default
Guys wanna hear some hilarious stuff?
I was messing around in steam with my new microphone and setting up stuff etc, well then it totally messed itself up, i lost my REAR PANEL audio once and for all, it continued to work in front panel, but not back at all. (no problem here if my case or this motherboard wont give so much interferience and other noises like when dragging a window with mouse etc), then i started to look thing up why it wont work with rear panel at all, tried so many things that i dont want to list them here.
Tried VISTA and 2x Windows XP installations, VISTA worked fine and worked always, but these 2 XPs didnt at all, always the same, front works - back doesnt.
After 2 days of investigation, I just found out that windows and ATI/AMD chipset/GPU-drivers installs the REAL Integrated soundchip drivers to the HD4870 soundchip! And likewise HD4870 drivers goes to soundmax motherboards integrated chip, it LOOKS OK, but never works .. its amazing that those two uses almost the same drivers.
heres a pic
http://faior.miumau.net/LOL.JPG
I almost thrashed the MB :D
Can happen with 3870 series too...I usually have to reinstall the Creative sound card driver after the Vidio card Audio driver(under XP Sp2/Sp3 . If not the Videocard Sound driver will always bork the Onboard sound or Creative XFi.
No problem under Vista 32/64:yepp:
you do know you can choose which sound card to use in the control panel (on XP 32 and x64), right?
you don't need to reinstall drivers.
I have my Xonar D2X and X-fi XtremeMusic in my PC at the same time (under XP x64)
I use the X-fi to play games, and the D2X for everything else.
Yes sir,, good point too:up:.
It was only buggy when i would install 38xx,48xx series Drivers in which it would default to Videocard Audio instead of the PCI oe PCI-E sound card driver after a catalyst driver install. Thus i just reinstall the card driver from scratch anyways.
ok peeps i what to know how this overclock is cause im on air
is this a good score
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=6065383
I have completely different experience... unfortunately :(
two kits a) OCZ Gold DDR2-1066 (2x2GB) and b) OCZ Platinum DDR2-1066 (2x2GB)... none of them can't work Prime stable with rated frequency and timings/voltages :(
(I'm, running only 4GB, w/o mixing the kits)
As comparison, they do work as they meant to work on DFI's 790GX, MSI Platinum, and GA's 790GX mobos...
It looks like I'll need to go with DDR2-800 :(
hey guys, finally picked up a 720, im coming from a brisbane, so its my first go around with a phenom. i have 4 sticks of gskill F2 - 8000CL5 2GBPQ. from what i have read this ram likes a trc of 45 or higher, but i am unable to choose a higher setting than 20 something in the bios. any way around this? most people have no problems running this ram at 1066, but im having a bit of trouble getting it stable there.
currently working on getting stable at 3.55ghz 263x13.5, ram at 1000. occt ran for about 8hrs there, but it blue screened overnight. weird. im going to drop my clock back down and see if i can get the ram squared away again. if anyone can give some tips, especially on the ram, i would be gratefull.
You can Select higher than 20 TRC while using 1066 divider Only ATM.. When using a 400/533/667/800 20 or lower is all that BIOS allows.
1066 Divider with lower HTT and CPU multi if your gonna use 45 on TRC. It s that or Loosen the other ram settings One at atime untill she's stable.
Also try 7-8-8-20.. or 6-7-7-20 5-8-8-20... Since your TRC is too tight(Above 20) you should loosen overall Latencies .
Low latency = (20 TRC by bios) ,, which is too tight.
Higher latency + 20 TRC may aliviate this.
In all in 1066 divider you can set higher than 20 TRC. I use 31 and Higher with some 1066 rams myself.
Also Raise the NB chipset/CORE PCI-E volts to say 1.32v for 4gigs or higher. Keeps things a little more stable on the ramslots
P.S 602 and 703 are Most Stable Bios for Overclocking and Ram too.
Ahhhh, i see now! ill try putting it on the 1066 divider tonight. i will also try to loosen up the main timings, and bump upp the chipset voltage. i miss the athlon xp days when it comes to timings. thanks gOtVoltage!
Hey guys. I've seen ACC options in the BIOS for this board, pictured here: BIOS Screenie from Review, but I've scoured through my BIOS and I can't seem to find it: Picture of My BIOS. I'd rather not tweak using AOD because it seems like its values and the BIOS values are always different and conflicting. I saw a couple posts in this thread relating to the issue, but I didn't see a response. Anyone have some insight on this?
I not 100% shure but ,, Any B2 processor will enable the TLB Fix code and thus it will Disable ACC when a B2 chip is installed. The FIX and ACC i dont think go hand in hand on this Mobo.
Notice how you Have TLB FIX option (But No ACC) cause of the CPU's patch code . if i remeber correct.
Also what Version Bios is this? Try 602 and or 703 Bios See if the option Changes. I really think its tied to the 9500's TLB Patch code,, Affects B2chips Only not B3,, So A 9550/9650/9750/9850/9950/PHII940 and up will All Show ACC with No TLB Fix Option..
Well ACC definitely works using AOD because without it I can only get 2.5Ghz tops and with it on auto, I can get around 2.8Ghz. Also, I honestly don't know why Asus even includes the TLB Fix option because I've had the fix disabled and it's still enabled when I check in Windows. I have to use the TLB Patch Disable Tool. Could someone with the 703 BIOS take a picture so I can verify that the feature is supported on this board, just not on my configuration? For now, I'll go bug Asus about it.
For the Phenom II we set Microcode Updation to DISABLED right?
I was under the impression that disabling it allows for more stable overclocks.
Hmm ,,MicroCode updation i though was just how the Bios reads what CPU .
such things as if TLB fix should be enabled if B2 is used Ect ,,
Are you thinking of ((CPU TWEAK = DISABLED ))?? Can make things more stable and may allow for Higher Oc .
Disabling CPUTweak= Optimizations get reduced /disabled by (BIOS)cripplling the CPU a hair when doing so, slowing Cache performance at minor cost.
Hope i said that correct.:D
Just a little update, I finally stopped memtest86+ after about 23 hours of running all 4 sticks of ocz platinum 1066MHz and there was not a single error. So I think its safe to say that this mobo can run 8gigs at 1066MHz, at least with this memory.
Damn, I thought the F4 secret would enable ACC :( The microcode option did finally disable the TLB fix though. Thanks.
The 9x00's series doesn't have ACC
ACC came about because of the problems with the 9x00's
Hi all!
this is my first post!! :D :D
I am Andres from Argentina :P far away :p jejejeje
I have some question and maybe you can help me = )
1)
I have an Old pc..
Amd Athlon 5000 BE + TRUE 120 +Ultra Kaze 133 CFM :D :D
Mother M2n Sli delux ( nice mobo)
Gskill Pi edition 2x2 GB 1066.
I want to sell it and buy a news parts.. I have 2 options could you please tell me which for you is better :D
AMD PHenom II 940 BE + True 120 ultra kaze
ASus M3A79-T delux I think with that cooler I can reach 3.6 with luck 3.8 (I think but you know more than I jeej)
OR..
INTEL Q6600 G0 true... (is older I know but is a great)
GA UP45 - UD3P With that I can Reach 3.6
which sistem do you think is better amd or Intel?? be honest please = )
------------------------
And the other question is simple..
this mother ASus M3A79-T delux has 3 PCI-E x16... Can I connect an Asus Xonar d2x (pci-e x1) in some of the PCI-E x 16 or those PCI-E x16 they are only for video card?? someone know that?
THanks in advance
Hi Kiyu, welcome to XS. How are things en Argentina? :D
Anyhow, I would vouch for the Phenom II. I have both Intel and AMD computers, so not favoring anybody here.
The Q6600 is a great upgrade from your x2, but in reality its not really all that great anymore compared to what is out there now. If you can save some cash, get a Phenom II 940, and the ASUS M3A79-T motherboard is a great board. I had one but I killed it installing a water block. Now I just decided to try something else.
However, that board is very very solid, PWM is superb and will give you very very nice clocks on your cooler
I just got back finally my 2nd RMA'd board today and will start messing with it again, but wanted to get your thoughts on my NB cooling (ASUS 4 Acetal WB).
With my 1st board I took all the stock cooling off and used some Enzotech's for the Mosfet and the SB and the WB for the NB.
It was just a pain IMO to deal with the additional items (not really, but just being lazy) and the fact the the NB chip is so small for the WB and the little resistors (chips) whatever around the chipset don't get any contact. So I am thinking for laziness and maybe there is some benefit, but I want to put the block ontop of the stock NB and zip tie it to it. I think it will cool the whole unit somewhat nicely.
The question I have is do I need to put any sort of thermal grease or pad to put them together? Since the Asus emblem is a little lower I was thinking about putting a piece of thermal pad to at least make it a little more level, but beyond that did not know if there would be a conductivity potential with this setup.
Thoughts?
Go to any Art store and try to find Needed rubber. (Soft Eraser that act like silly putty.)
You can spread it thin ( use rolling pin or bare hands) Use a think layer 1/8ths thick to cover the resisters and when you install the Nb it will act as a pad and compress as you zip tie it.
Just dont cover up NBchip thats for the thermal paste:D Just make 4 seperate strips kinda like (electrical tape width) and lay em down around right up to the NBsides.
Sorry to ask
Can this board set to run 1T timing mode ??
It seems NEVER work out right with my Team Xtreme DDR2-1066 CL5 1GBx2 kit OR Kingston Hyper-X 2GB x2 DDR2-1066
Everytime I set 1T, it goes NO BOOT and I have to clear CMOS in order to get it boot again
Both set of RAM works FINE with my Jetway 790GX board @ 1T (DDR2-667 ONLY , DDR2-800 only goes 2T )
Anyone know if it is possible and if so how, to get the CPU over-volt warning from stopping? It's driving me nuts.
