    ok... it's official...

My GTX 580 cannot run stably at the clocks it shipped at

797MHz/1594MHz/4050MHz/1.08v 3D as shipped leads to many artifacts / strange effects when gaming.

    Tried 1.125v with same issues.

Underclocked the card to 700/1400/3600 @ 1.05v and all is well.

    ...anyone else get a lemon?

I'd suggest trying a stronger PSU before you ship it, you're running a lot of power hungry kit on that little 650w..

    Hi all.

    Thanks for suggestions

I bought two 580's at the same time, one was for a friend and one for me.

Since my friend was away for 2 weeks I ran his card in my system for that length of time to check it was ok before forwarding it to him with no issues... I even undervolted it to 1.00 and it ran fine so that rules out the PSU I think.

The PSU has a single 12v rail and pulls 380w max from the wall with the GPU and CPU fully loaded so my system is not overtaxing it.

I have also tried several bios from Techpowerup just for the sake of experiment with no luck so it does indeed look like RMA time...

Could you please post GPU-Tool screenshot detecting artifacts at default?

You can download it here and it's great to detect faulty cards:

    Anyway RMA is the way.
