Almost 15K in 3DMark05?! I'd better wipe the drool off of my keyboard
ok so what does a 8800gts and 2900xt score in 05? and with 112stream procs this looks better and better all the time.

Nice 112 SPs would be awesome deal! Please let it be true, then this card will be a very valuable midrange card and it seems it's probably even faster than current 8800GTS cards in Unreal3 engine based games or Crysis for example (112 SPs and shader at 1.5GHz). But it seems NVIDIA need to put the bar kinda high looking at 2950 Pro anyways and both NVIDIA and ATI seems to have very high interest in winning this midrange battle, but I see more important for DAAMIT to win and hopefully 2950 Pro will be a midrange beast.

Wow theoretical flops on that thing at 1.5GHz SP * 112 * 2 or 3 puts it at near GTX levels
What rig is that set up though? It's hard to compare 3dMark05 vs. 3dMark05 if the two setups are different as CPU and what not does play a difference
wow is the 8800 gt ourperformed the 8800gts 640 in 3dmark 05, then nvidia has a real winner here. I can't wait to see how ati will react to this card, cuz so far its been nothing but disapointment from ati....
omg! This is one killer VC with a price that's right on the pocket!

112 SPs confirmed by NVIDIA marketing material, 1.5 GHz individual clock.
OCWorkbench even dared to quote the material directly
That's more than I dare to.

Nice so it's confirmed then.
NVIDIA's got nothing to worry anymore IMO if any specs got released it's not like ATI in case for some reason they didn't already know all about it will be able to do much changes anymore and besides since the specs are so good like they are for that pricetag, I'd rather see NVIDIA (and ATI) start boasting about the specs rather than keeping it secret to hype up the market even more.
I wanna see lots of sales of these cards if they are as good as the indications have been so far to show to NVIDIA and ATI tight price and smart specs configuration to run today's and most anticipated upcoming PC games titles that isn't too expensive to produce but still can provide good performance can make the consumers very happy and is the winning deal worth aiming for.
It looks like a good timing to release the killer midrange cards right now with so many huge anticipated PC games titles swirling around.

250$ Holy moly, now i for sure wont one!!!
The bang-for-buck on this just seems rediculous. With some overclocking it seems like it could pass up the GTS 640 without breaking a sweat.

Probably more...
This is alot nicer of a card than I originally thought it would be. I still think the "8800GT" name is a ruse of sorts. Typically when nVidia makes mid-range cards they generally fall about half of the high end cards.
A lot of people say that the 9800GTX is a 1tflop card and on paper, a 256 shading unit 512bit card would do the trick.
Somehow I'm inclined to believe that they will (at the last minute) change the name to 9600GT and announce the full 65nm G91 with the specs mentioned above. In addition to an 9600GTS with 128 shading units.
Either way these numbers from a marketing perspective look really fishy. They're definatly up to something to say the least by offering a card that is very close if not at their $600 GTX / Ultra offerings at 1/2 ~ 1/3 of the price.

NVIDIA Announces 112 SP 8800 GTS Works w/ Original 8800 GTS In SLI
NVIDIA told their AICs not to market the new Geforce 8800 GTS 640MB as a card that has 112 SPs on board (upgraded from previous 96 SPs) but Partners can label it as a special edition, or OC edition. Also the new 112 SP 8800 GTS will still work with the original 96 SP variants in SLI configurations. Further NVIDIA stressed that they will not offer an upgraded 112 SP 8800 GTS in 320MB configurations.

i dont think either of these card will have 128sp's, why because that would kill the sales of gtx and the utlra's. and being on a smaller process these would overclock like hell and no one is going to buy the gtx and ultra. we might see a refresh of the ultra with higher clocks. may be little more shaders.
