Hey dinos thanks for the thread ^^
Seems that'll have a tripp soon too :D
Hope to play with too ;)
It still looks a lot like other Gigabyte mobos. hehehe Don't they ever get tired of it? :D
Looks like the heatsinks on the P5K vanilla. And holy USB.
At least they are cooling the mosfets. My P35-DS3P's mosfets get quite warm.
i have this mobo at home too, BUT DOESNOT work properly! First batches of these Gigabytes was with serious errors ...
nice!!.... but will there be a DDR3 version?
also does it run ICH10 or 11 ?
Is their color scheme selected by a focus group of kindergarden kids? If Fischer-Price made motherboards, they would look like Gigabyte boards.
when will this be available in the US?
It is funny that Gigbyte races to be first and more offten than not suck swampwater untill they have a few revs.
Only company that BIOS revs get worse as they go too...
How exciting!!....i see they have (finally) implemented a clear CMOS button and a reset button....at last!
Fans have been wanting this for AGES!, i also see they have updated the Super I/O to the latest IT8720F model....great news!, in addition with P45 totally removing IDE and PCI they have decided to use the IT8213F chipset:
http://www.ite.com.tw/product_info/f...8213F_V0.2.pdf
http://www.ite.com.tw/ite_news/press2_20071211.asp
This is all rather exciting, there also appears to be something new with the mobo headers, looks like something that Asus did a Q -Connect...they seem to be implementing something similiar on the fornt panel connector.
mmm value boards, this looks good.
I want one! dinos please tell us what is GB doing with this board that we'll like :D
i bet that mobo doesnot to work, like mine ... it is now only for showing ... in P45 is serious bug with PCI express bus, we must to wait for better revision ...
What are the PCI-E lanes like? 16x / 16x Crossfire or 8x / 8x ?
Clear CMOS and reset need to not be underneath the last PCIe slot. I imagine it's a low bandwidth slot but what if I want to do Tri-Fire and I have a GPU pot hanging over that slot? Otherwise it looks slick
They have also (finally and thankfully) dumped completely the Parallel port....but the Serial (COMA) remains, i also see an updated Intersil 6 phase chip ISL6336.
Somewhat related, Bit-tech has some pictures of the Gigabyte P45 DS5 link
How is gigabyte able to be first? doesn't Asus still get the first samples of chips and all that goodstuff.
GB is a very big company mate
they are always either first or closely follow Asus
and then the rest of the industry slowly trickles through
have a look at the stats from CPUz validations ;)
http://www.canardplus.com/statscpuz-cm-en.html
I like this board, looks like it will be a winner in the mainstream range.
However, the PCI slots placement just bothers me, what happens to soundcard when CF is used?
still fruit loops flavored :/
Wow... I just hopped on the P35 train last week, HAHAHAHA.
I'mma waiting now til the P45's are out to get a new board....from P965 to P45 in one fowl swoop :)
not bad, I don't really care about the colors, because I don't concern myself with actually looking at the board for too long.
on another note, I'm gonna be buying the G45 variant. I think Gigabyte had one at cebit, but the main pci-e slot was x4 (r u kidding)? So I'll wait for some news and more models to come out.
http://images.bit-tech.net/content_i...5/overview.jpg
Clearly a photochop, look at the firewire controller thats half embedded into the orange pci-e slot :ROTF:
Can you say "tweak"?
This looks promising! I can't wait for more implementations like this.
Evil :D
I just hope they have better working deviders soon :(
Very nice.. might pick one up when i get back into benching :D
This is definitely going to be my next chipset. Finally, true Crossfire on a mainstream chipset; no more of that x16/x4 garbage.
Those new bios options are insane!!!...tons of new features and options added. I have to say i am (so far) impressed with the PCB changes with the P45, the new 90 degree SATA ports are a must and will remove alot of the issues people had with long graphics cards. The clear CMOS button is an ABSOLUTE must!
This two pin jumper crap Gigabyte used for years is a horror, trying to get to the pins to short them....it was always a nightmare!, now with just a push of a button it'll reset the bios to default.
The upgraded components are very nice, high end Intersil chips such the ISL6336, most current IT8720F Super I/O...Realtek 8111C, dumping the Parrallel port, a revised TPM header.
Dinos...will the bios be updated at some stage to support the new XMP 2.0 profile?, it also seems (much like X48 PCBs) that two 2 phase Intersil chips are being used to provide 2 phase power regulation to the Northbridge and memory. But do we really NEED 10 SATA ports?....8 would be fine, having to use two Silocon Image SiI5723 chips on the PCB seems a waste, and how is the DS5 providing PCI support?...i don't see an ITE IT8213F chip anywhere?, so how are they able to add two PCI slots?
It's not!...if you look carefully you'll notice that the second PCI-E slot is only an 8x electrical slot, which means they were able to place the 1394 controller under the PCI-E connector:
http://images.bit-tech.net/content_i...igabyte4-8.jpg
See where the pins end inside the PCI-E slot?...the rest of the slot is solid plastic, a notch is cut out from underneath this section to allow the the 1394 controller chip to be placed, thus saving space on the PCB...it's actually a VERY smart idea!
This bios looks like Gigabyte Lanparty:D
......................but wait, there's more
But if you were to use the shorter 8x PCI-E slot then you wouldn't be able to use normal 16x graphics cards...having a standard 16x slot allows you to run two graphics cards in 8x...sure one of the cards pins won't make full length contact, but i think they made the right decision overall. The 1394 controller generates very little (if any) heat.
Looks like they have done away with the extra power connection for crossfire on the motherboard too.
Yes Buggs....that went with X48, they removed it and added those diagnostic LEDs...tbh, the Molex connector was never nesscary, holdover from the P965/P35 days.
I'm not too crazy about the cooling on the board, but the BIOS options, well, I could get lost.
Eagerly waiting for P45 results before I decide on my next motherboard.
you see the beauty of GB boards is they probably run cooler than most other boards so they only use what is necessary
it's got something to do with components they use........plus they've got some very cool thermal chambers where they can test and redesign boards if necessary while taking into consideration all different aspects of thermal case deisgn and how boards relate to it all............if i'm allowed i will do some videos of the real deal to show you what i'm talking about
I remember that not so long ago you hated Gigashyte boards dinos... now look at you :D
i look at that bios, and i reminisce... lol. thats some dfi level tweaking options there.
I hope there will be a single 16x slotted board out there at some point :)
that's true mate!!!!
that 965 DS3 left me scarred
"gigashyte=Gigabyte" and "anus=Asus" were expressions used by alphaone and i kinda jokingly picked it up at the time and i've since realised what sort of person he is and i don't want to have anything to do with ppl like that (it's very petty going around trolling and constantly using profanities to describe some of the best brands around....if that's the case what does one find good then? lol >> i think you see my point)
i could not face up to it and get another board for a long long time after a few of those 965s
actually a funny story........i was invited to some gaming event where Gigabyte was putting on an OC show and i was like LOL yeah sure heheh
well put it this was
we had their value boards there and i was literally SHOCKED how good they were
P35-DS3P
even to this day i have not seen a better P35 board........awesome value for money........killer overclocker and really really easy to OC
incidentally i overclocked my E6700 with this board to 5.4GHz on a cascade
i fell in love :D
and the best part is RAM OCing.....this was the first board that properly unleashed my PC10000 Corsair Dominators pushing past 600 wall on all previous boards (INCLUDING Asus P5K Series) to 640 CAS4 32M Stable and 670 CAS5-4-4-x stable
i've since regained a lot of respect for these guys through various projects we did together and all the work we've put in to make them even better.
i have nothing but major respect and admiration for a brand that is trying so hard to change from dark old days into a gem and you guys have been seeing and experiencing the change too no doubt
why don't you try the P35DS3P or P45DS3P
their DS3P is awesome imo
Funny, the 965P DS3 was the board that turned me over to Gigabyte from all other manufacturers. That board was sick, 540FSB out of the box and so easy to overclock with.
Can't wait for these P45 boards, bring back "budget" overclocking power
Indeed! The fact Gigabyte is making giant steps in the right direction is very true, and I completely agree with you about their DS3P boards. I recommend them to almost every friend that ask me when he's building his relatively low cost PC and wants to do a little overclock. A few weeks later they come asking for good WC parts because their air coolers are not enough for the OC they have reached with their DS3Ps :D
so it's a good board; doesnt necessarily mean the p45 board with 'ds3p' printed on it will be the same, or it might.:p: anyway hope it turns out good.Quote:
P35-DS3P
well since Gigabyte started to get involved with Team.AU & i4memory guys in beta testing we've been able to give them great feedback for LN2 benching
i think that you will find this design has taken a lot of that feedback into consideration but we haven't tested these yet so only until we test them are we going to know what the word is on subzero >> this will happen soon ;)
what does CPC mean?
Clock Per Clock
i assume he is talking aboutg Superpi
Gigabyte's certainly hold their own ;)
http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/7...66vssblff3.png
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/5...i171vsshj5.png
i never even bumpted the NB volts on these runs and those runs were not fully tweaked...you can also see in the second shot that i screwed up the wazza run yet it was still pretty fast :yepp:
wait till you see what the new X48 rev1.1 which scales with NB volts and hopefully these P45s can do :yepp: when we start seriously benching heh
OK so now go have a look at the 32M SPi Low Clock Challenge thread and have a look at 9.xx Category
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=167233
have a look at some of the other names in that category.......they are all very good and very experienced superpi benchers ;)
you will see that the most efficient 65nm DDR2 sub-10m run is at just over 5GHz done by a very good Pi bench toddm27 on P5K vanilla
so what does that tell you about GB efficiency ;)
Great to see the fruits of many hours feedback :)
Combine this BIOS with what ive heard is coming and ... :D
:banana::banana::banana: what do you guys know :(
my gigabut boards killed 6 stix in 6 months 2.24-2.26v "2 dead boards in 3 months"
my last 1 did 575 fsb but bios voltage options:rofl: was bs
i been on dfi 4+ months not 1 dead stick same psu same everything
gigabyte x38 was a nighmare for 24/7
only good for benching i did 580fsb on air
benching is fun dinos but it gotta be good for 24/7 too for we mortals
gigabut rushes to put out the boards n idiots like me rush to buy em
odds are i will but a p45 but odd are 2% in gigabuts favor favor if i buy another gigabut board
right
well have a look at the screenshots mate
most of my benchmarking is done with those volts (2.4-2.8v)
i have not killed a single stick to date
however i know that those models you are referring to are not the best voltage regulation wise and they are certainly different cattle of fish to these DS3P boards
i think 2.4-2.8 is safe for benching
i've pumped 2.8+ into some value ram n they still kickin
well i paid 225$ for the p35c-dsr3 the day it came out i doubt the ds3p has a better vdimm voltage regulator than the p35c
anyways i gave the board to my son promos chips dont mind the bad vdmm regulator
gigabut rushes out to produce the boards i wont be no gigabut guinypig again
do you think the boards with the P45 chipset will surpass in terms of CPU/mem overclocking the X48 boards?
If this thing has ICH10, why does it have 2 Gigabit LAN silkscreened on the board instead of 10Gbe? Not worth the time of day without it.
lol seriously now how many ppl use 10GB lan and WHY
why increase the cost of a board for a feature most ppl will not benefit from just yet
If the 10GB LAN is the only difference,it surely isn't worth the upgrade from X48
OMG!...you're not serious, are you?...the term 2 Gigabit LAN referes to the TWO Realtek 8111C LAN chips, as in *two* separate LAN chips which feature a teaming option to double the troughput.
Have a look at the 8111C specs:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/products/p...n=4&ProdID=142
I won't use wireless lan,I will go only with one HDD,so these improvements do not mean a lot for me.Those extra features are a little overkill and a lot of people won't use them.
I was interested more in the overclocking region.
first thought was ip35 pro, then noticed the rainbow dimm slots LAWL
For overclocking performance sit tight and let some beta testers start flashing some results that we can digest.
BTW has anyone credibly heard of the latest P45 chipset availability/shipping date yet? And i dont mean the boards.
looks promising, can't wait to test one :)
Are the Hidden BIOS setting still in this board? Its quite a chore having to unlock it everytime.
Ever since later X38 BIOSes, the only hidden settings are ones which very very very few people (aka 1 in many million) ever need to even know about, let alone change.
All overclocking settings are immediately available including all RAM timings.
I don't mind hidden settings, i mean...how hard is it to hit CTRL+F1??
Hi mate
I think i've overlooked this questions
This motherboard supports true PCI Express 2.0 standard
in Crossfire it will operate at 8x + 8x which is plenty for just about any card(s) on the market
P35 chipsets were mainly taking a hit in performance due to 16x + 4x >>>> that 4x was really starving the second card and performance and multiple card scaling was very poor.
I remember Asus introducing a patched solutions on some of their higher end P35 PCIe first gen. boards and performance was very good as they were running on 8x + 8x but now P45 chipset is also moving to PCIe 2.0 so these chipsets are no longer going to be useless for Crossfire that's for sure ;)...................you will basically see bugger all different between 8x per slot compared to 16x per slot :) ...
Dino
Dinos...got any new juicy PCB picies?....any images of the EP45-DQ6???
At least i dont have to hold my tongue any more, first public info on Gigabyte newest venture into Extreme OCing.
Personally im ignoring that crazy big HS, which is removable just like crazy cool was. :)
Gigabyte EP45 Extreme
