i'll take some better pics for you :p:
looking forward to seeing how these perform even though we can't get them here in the US.
Nice!!! Waiting for your results:)
If they can do low tRFC is one question pass 550 MHz (if they pass lol)
I'll be very interested in these if they pass 550 mhz and are 24/7 stable too. Hurry up with the review :p
Are those D9GHMs?
Quick a throughtout review!!!!!!!!!!!
Then it would suck, badly...
I hope the reviews prove me wrong...
they are the best 4GB kit on the market
Do they suck compared to older D9 stuff? I guess
But everyone wants 4GB
we went through this with D9DQT
Everyone said 130nm D9DQT was god
Then the newer 90nm D9GMH came out and became god
Now, it is 78nm's turn to play god, heh
Oh, how about the price?
On Crucials EU-Site it is listed for 124,-EUR and I guess for the US it'll be about 160,-USD. ;)
Awaits results.. :D
looks like a real fine pair.. :)
The main problem might be the following: PSC based modules manage 4-4-4-12 DDR2-800 no problem at ~2V most of the time and even overclock to about 450MHz at these setting with upto 2.2V. Setting timings to 5-5-5-15, they are able to reach as high as 550Mhz+.
Now these Crucials better be real great overclockers, or the cheaper PSC based modules will still keep the lead.
I'm awaiting the results with excitement, though. :)
They sure do look damn nice, as a start.
1100+ at 2.1 @ 5-5-5-15 with ease
Something most PSC can not do.
lots of new 4GB DDR2 kits comin out
got something coming my way to test out as well
that's nothing to sneeze at really
Not bad, now i want it too! lol
Push till the max! Amaze me~
so good ocing at low voltage? that is excellent!!!
is this ram using d9? i mean micron chips...since is crucial...i found out that the corshair have a 4gig using micron chips but is under 5.x version...
Probably it is micron, but not gmh so OC wont be something good, but for 4gb this stick is awesome
It IS Micron chips under the spreaders, Crucial RAM will never EVER be anything else ;)
Part one of the review is up in the review section. A mod can close this if considered appropriate. Iv finished waving my e-peen around :p:
That is NOT so. Crucial is a subsidary of Micron and is a business in it's own right. Crucial uses Elpida and other IC's for their Rendition series so I would like to see the Micron stamp on these Crucial IC's to see if they are in fact, Micron. Since Micron is not showing any 4GB kits in their samplings, I would have to see the markings.
http://www.micron.com/products/dram/...tatus=Sampling

Provisional oops then.
I wont pop the heatspreaders on these, someone else can risk their RAM :p:
I certainly understand :D
I'm very interested in the overclocks you receive from this product as it is easy to see if they are PSC IC's because that's all there is out there at the moment and they have the characteristic of a high tRFC (52) at Auto. They are not great overclocks either so if you receive higher overclocks than they do, then very likely they are not PSC.
tRFC is drawback for all 2GB sticks regardless the IC.
The NB might not be able to hack it- does strap, cooling or volts help any?
Im surprised this thread has so much interest, while my actual review thread has only a % of the views and replies :p:
There is no difference for the nb behavior regarding voltages/strap/dividers
when overclocking 2 sticks if they are 2x256 or 2x2GB.
If you arent going to feel better until you see a photo -- dont ask me to. Crucial switched to VERY sticky thermal tape and removed the clips. The small IC is fragile and I'm not killing a pair of 150 dollar memory. I've already done that once with 78nm micron on GEIL's.
You can see the shape of the 78nm IC, it is unique to Micron atm.
I can tell you that this stuff has ZERO problems running at 1066MHz @ 1.8V 5-5-5-15, rather impressive. The unimpressive part is its lack of ability to scale with voltage, similar to how D9HNL operates.
If you wanna argue about it more, go somewhere else, this stuff kicks arse :).
Bottom line - I dont have any other 4GB kits that can run at 1066MHz at 1.8V
no one post any screen shot?
are they trying to support that (red) charity thing or something?
Are the sticks on open-air with fan or inside case and with no fans?
I don't need a photo and did not ask you to show one. Sooner or later the truth will come out. As it is, I find it interesting that Micron is NOT posting any information regarding a release. Normally when Crucial releases Micron DRAM, they press release them. Nothing so far...
But let's face it. Results and performance are what matter. Taking 1066 at 1.8, add ~.3 - .4v to gain 84Mhz? That's what I call a diminishing return for me personally.
2GB Micron D9GMH @ 1200Mhz with 5-5-5-9

4GB Corsair 8500C5 @ 5-5-3-15
http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...kT2008/4gb.jpg
I'm fine with this set at any rate. Dropped my Northbridge from 1.4v to 1.2v. Transaction booster at level 1 works and this raised the throughput considerably. Would not work with the Microns.
Yes, I'm fine with it.
If they are powerchips the best you can do is up to 2.1V.
If not then they can scale up to 30MHz with 2.1-2.3V
That's what I'm referring to: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231145
:)
So these definately do look nice then!
But I still want a set that can do 1200 mhz :p
i tried lower then 2.05v 1066 with mine GSKILL....no go :S
Does anyone know the price for the tracers when they come out? I am considering ordering the regular 2x2 ballistix kit. My G-skill 2x2 can't OC well at all 1:1 and I miss my old ballistix I blew out 4 months ago.
I want to get 4 gigs and if that works well, add another 4 gigs so I have no page file usage while emulating vista in ubuntu.
I'm expecting these to do at least 450 1:1, so that'll work out more than fine for my quad. If these bad boys can do 500 1:1, then I'm set and might try to push my quad to 4.0ghz again.
Since you won't pop em, this guy did.

Enjoy!
Guys, I was searching for a place to buy the non-tracer version and I came across this site:
http://www.priceguidenetwork.com/
Here's the ram specifically
http://www.priceguidenetwork.com/com...5664aa804.html
The price is incredible. Is this a safe place to buy the ram from? I'd order 8 gigs now!
Gees,
this store is around the corner.
Awesome, finally some hardware in Madison.
Thanks, man!
I really wish XS had it's very own international store...
One store...carrying enthusiast products from all over the world.
hmm im torn now.. the crucial ballistix 2gb sticks.. the new corsair 1066 kit orl the geil esoteria's/black's... which way to go.. the new ballistix are only 800's though so im unsure how well they will scale yet ..they are already 800 rated at 2.2v im not sure how much higher they can go..
i was told fyi they are the same sticks just the tracers are red.. but the timings and v's and the ic's used i was told are the same as the red's are..
actually i think im torn between the corsair and these crucials after talking with geil on the forums and seeing others experiences with them and their tech support via the forums im not sure i want to go there also most are telling me they take months to get you your rma back if you need to do so.. at least with crucial and corsair i know they are both readily available and their rma dept is both top notch..so hmmm the new 1066 corsairs or these 800's from crucial.. arghhh or wait for the 1066 crucials
do they send to EU?
Yep, check the dropdown country selection box at...
http://www.priceguidenetwork.com/cart.php
...and you'll find Slovenia :)
What about other timing configs? ~DDR2-1000 4-4-4-x capable? Can't believe it that the first german shop listed on geizhals site sells this kit for only 119 EUR... that's amazingly cheap... By far the best 4GB deal so far and it would be nice to see 2GB micron ICs start dominate in high performance market too like with 1GB.
new micron ICs! those look great..
I hope the LEDs are all red this time..
yes they are :) review: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=178953
THanks guys. I always appreciate it when someone can speak up about their experiences with a company.
I'll probably order 8 gigs of the non-tracer stuff when I get my next paycheck.
Since these'll do at least 430mhz, thats all I need for 1:1 w/ my quad @ 9x multiplier. I just want to get back to 3.78 ghz w/ good timings.
Can someone please post pics / video of these tracers in action.
My apologies- I didnt realise I hadnt added those in.

Pics of RAM installed and powered up
These are also now in the review thread.
The LEDs are definitely red. My camera isnt doing them any favours. I cant get a DV camera that can capture the LED flashing in enough detail, sorry.
I've decided to change my mind and order 8 gigs of the stuff tomorrow. If anyone has any reason why I should pass this up, let me know before I order tomorrow night.
They seem to overclock about as well as my G.Skill PC-8000 4GBPQs--my max was about 550MHz, 5-4-5-12 at 2.2v.
Get Evo One are better.
I seem to have VERY bad luck doing 1:1 w/ my quad and the GBPQs. Maybe I got a not so ideal kit. I can only get 415x9 stable. Anything higher is totally unstable. My old 1 gig ballistix chips were WAY better. I could do superpi in windows w/ 445x9 (unstable) and ran 420x9 or higher stable.
I'm hoping I can push my luck w/ these.
Spyrus,
I took a look at the EVO's. They seem be good, although I haven't seen any reviews of it. They are 30 bucks more a kit and I'd rather save that 60 bucks honestly. I just want something that'll do 430mhz 1:1 and my current kit won't.
By the way, THOSE THINGS ARE HUGE!
I think they are same height with Dominators.
They worth the money now that have dropped a little (25 € in Greece)
and have the same price with 2x2GB@8500 kits.
They are also cheaper than 4x1GB@8500 kits so they worth it.
For 1:1 @ 4-4-4-12@430+ is guaranteed with them but is better
to use divider @ 5-5-5-15@560+ that they can do.
could you post some results of your kit ?
nvm.... found geil evo thread by SLi_dog
I still haven't ordered yet. I'm kind of on the fence about it. The crucial are 60 USD cheaper here. Thats why I'm still looking into the ballistix. The evos are freaking nice looking @ the resultf from the thread BAR*B*Q mentioned.
Since I'm one of the weird people who just want a 24/7 stable OC, I don't think my quad is capable of much more than 430mhz x9 1:1, so extreme high end isn't a goal with a 2x2gig kit, plus I plan on running 8 gigs of that stuff, so no max effort by these bad boys either way.
Spyrus, I'm asking b/c I don't know, but why is 5:6 better than 1:1? I thought C2D ran better 1:1?
Is better because your memory would run higher and have more memory bandwidth.
From my test 460MHz@4-4-4-12 is almost the same with 540@5-5-5-15.
You can even try with your memory at 400@4-4-4-12 and 480@5-5-5-15 to see
the difference. That is why you ran a divider for 24/7 since fsb needs to be at 470-480 max.
The only thing that will change this is if running on 1:1 and have better performance level than 5:6(not in the case of maximus formula)
So Spyrus,
There's a huge memory bandwidth gap between these and the evo ones? Enough of one that spending the extra 60 for 8 gigs is worth it?
I want to run specifically 4-4-4-12 or better around 420+ x9 or even something like 475x8. It really doesn't matter as long as my OC is about 3.8ghz + and my timings and bandwith are good.
For 420 you can have you ram at 530+@5-5-5-15 which is better from 420@4-4-4-12
