I'm looking forward to the new bios, but I'm pretty happy with how my 10th Anniversary D9's (GMH) were doing last night.....
My Week 24 6600 doesn't appear to be a great overclocker, atleast so far on air I'm topping out just under 3.5....so I played with the new mem last night and dropped the multi down....
While I wasn't able to hit 500 yet, I can do 485 at CAS-4 with this memory...
So, like everyone else, I'm looking forward to the new bios, but all things considered, things aren't so bad.....
I'm going to use an analogy here, it may not be a good one, but it's still an analogy so take it as you will.Quote:

So you take your car our just to see what it can do and find out that for some reason you are limited to 100mph. You take it to the dealer and they say it's a known problem inside the computer and they are working on an update. They say the update is expected that day. So you wait it out and check back the next day to see if the update is out yet. You get the "Well, they fixed the speed limit problem but by doing so ran into another issue." answer and that it should be available the next day. You wait and the same excuse the next day.
As consumers who buy products that are perhaps not guaranteed past their stock values but are aimed at the overclocking enthusiasts we should never be satisfied with a product just because it allows SOME overclocking or that they are putting out some updates. They aren't fixing the issue that has plagued the board since it was released. Fine if this new bios fixes the issue. That doesn't mean we should just sit back, shut up and be happy with what we have. If we didn't complain things wouldn't get done. You don't advertise a product for overclockers expecting it to be run at stock. I can wait for the final release of the bios. I just can't stand being told it's going to be out on a particular day, refreshing the site all day and it's not released as expected. If someone releasese the beta for people to try great, if not I'm not losing sleep over it. We aren't crying about getting the beta we are complaining about not getting the final when we were told it would be released yesterday.
bingo may be legit, and that's fine with me, I'm glad to hear it. What I and others are tired of (not just from bingo) is the constant posts stating the new bios is going to be released on a particular day and it never happens. If you are a beta tester, great, just talk about what features they are fixing and leave it at that. If someone bugs you about when it'll be released just say "I don't know", even if you do. That way you won't have someone breathing down you neck on that day when it's not released. I work in tech support for an ISP and when there is an outage, you can bet we don't give anyone an ETA when it'll be fixed. Why? Because if that time comes and it's not fixed you have angry customers calling right away :banana::banana::banana::banana:ing that it's not fixed.
/end of my rant
It's impossible for me to run tighter than 3-3-3-9, even if set to 2-1-1-1 in BIOS (shows up as 3-3-3-9 in CPUz). I asked Gigabyte if they will be releasing a BIOS fix for it, but they completely missed the point of my question, I didn't bother taking it further.Quote:

at no point in time, never once, no not one single time has a gigabyte rep ever said a bios is being released on XX date. not one single time.
the only, the one and only thing you have seen posted here is, a beta bios MIGHT BE released in the next day or so, or by the end of this week, or even next week sometime.
this was never said by a gigabyte rep. and never once was anyone told the official bios was coming out on such-n-such date so that you should be goofy enough to sit and refresh a website and be waiting for a bios.
thats just plain 'ol silliness.
beta bios's are few and far between, never guaranteed to be on any certain date or time. and if you have been a tester for anything be it software or hardware you would or should know by now that release dates are never on time.
It is disappointing to not have a new bios or beta bios to test, but if your fristrated then something is wrong, and i dont mean that as a personal attack but come on,, wth is there to be frustrated about, you weren't promised anything with the thread, nor by anyone in it.
See unlike Asus gigayte isnt advertising their boards as overclocking boards. where as Asus has right on their boxes that its an overclocking motherboard.
i do NOT and never will agree with the whole "if it runs at stock" scenario, its a total cop out by the mfg to protect themselves.
the whole point is, those beta testers who have offered insight and bios's do so of their own free will. and at the risk of breaking NDA and losing their seat on the beta team. they have never promised anything, for you or anyone to be upset they don't get the private beta bios is childish and a huge pile of rubbish. and my statements of growing up hold even more true.
i have issues just like the rest of you guys but i can deal with it as long as i know progress is being made. gigabyte has always been making progress, however slowly it maybe, progress is being made.
now again thats not a personal attack on anyone in particular, but focused at those who would find it necessary to express frustration that they are not getting the beta bios's when the beta bios's we have been given thus far were never public beta's to begin with. (as far as i have known by talking with a few individuals)
Bingo is just playing by the rules and not sharing his bios's. don't be mad at him, contact gigabyte and tell them you want to be a beta tester.
and again, sit back, relax and know that fixes for the issue sare coming.
and if you cant wait then sell the mobo and go buy something different.
no one would blame you if you did that.
but sitting here b|tching about a board day after day after day and never doing anything about it, such as getting rid of it, and cutting your losses and getting something quote unquote better, is just silly. just get rid of the damn thing and go get something else. but you'll be in much the same boat as many of the boards have similar issues and they all have issues, no matter what you buy, they all have issues.
anyways.. just chill out guys and let gigabyte do their job. the bios will come out when its ready, and if you rush it out by crying and whining all your going to do is get another bios that doesnt fix anything and just creates more issues.
u guys REALLLLY got time in ur hands :)
Look, none of this :banana::banana::banana: matters.....Bingo is legit, end of. When the beta is out it's out.
I'm more interested in a list of what fixes have been done in the various builds, if in fact the Intel and JMicron bios ROMs have been updated.
Personally i am very happy my new 6600 is running at 3.4GHz, my old chip was total crap. Sure i see guys running 3.6-3.8Ghz, but jeez...my own at 1000MHz over standard is bloody good!
It's Election day ... I'm bored cause we get to stay home
Jeez...you think 3.5GHz is bad? :rolleyes:Quote:

All as new as is available, newer then what GB have on their website.
Richard could you explain the orgins of these drivers and what GB boards they can be used on?Quote:

Realtek drivers can be used on all boards, S3/DS3/DS4/DQ6. JMicron drivers can be used on the same boards.
Intel RAID drivers for the DS4/DQ6, Intel chipset for all boards, Marvell drivers for all boards. Intel HECI for DS4/DQ6...all drivers are sourced from various vendours but are hosted on a single site
www.station-drivers.com
One of the best sites for daily drivers and firmware updates covering a huge range of products, only downside to the site is the number of adds/popups.
I'm not going to start a flame war, and you missed my point entirely. I know that it wasn't announced by any gigabyte rep. Problem being that someone who is here officially beta testing a bios for gigabyte and comes out and says "It's been sent to QA and will be up today". Well, people tend to believe that information, regardless if they work for the company or not. But whatever... I have not been losing sleep over this.Quote:

My whole point is that you don't go announcing information on a large public forum unless you know for sure. I'm not the only one who is annoyed that it wasn't posted yesterday after it was posted several times that it would be. End of story.
If I personally was getting 3.5, I wouldn't even be looking at this thread. But I do because I'm getting 3.15 and I'm hitting a wall at 450fsb with all my hardware at stock volts.Quote:

Adrianne is too slutty for my taste!
Just to be absolutely sure about the D9 Micron problems.
I have 2x1GB Cellshock PC8000 and Im not able to rum the 400x2,5 (1000mhz) only 400x2 (800mhz) is this due to the D9 micron issue?
Will I be able to run +1000mhz on my memory with ex. Asus P5B-E?
I have the same 450 wall myself, which is related to the D9 issue, i'm hoping the new bios/fix will allow 486x7...Intel benefits from FSB.

Does anyone know if gigabyte software with board works with vista?
Should i ignore the windows software to flash bios? no floppy drive anymore if i need it :P
Tanx a lot Richard but I need Intel HECI driver for XP and XP x64 you post it for Vista
