I'm almost for sure all the new P8P67 Deluxe / Pro / EVO / Sabertooth / P8H67-M EVO / Standard B3 boards will come with 1305 bios and you can not flash back to any other bios as for the B3 Microcode in the new Chipset.

The 1305 is OK for now , Sure it still needs help but it works fine and all we can do as with any new Tech that hits the market is wait.:eek:

changing Speed01, Speed02, Speed03 in SpeedFan doesn't seem to change fan speeds at all. tried with/without AI Suite II running.

Edit: trying latest beta, maybe this will work

Edit2: latest beta detects Nuvoton sensor, but fan speed still seems locked to whatever the BIOS or AI Suite has configured. (whether it'd disabled 100% or temp controlled).

maybe I'm still doing something wrong. in any case, without further going off topic... thanks! I may eventually figure it out. but It seems like Asus has fan controls locked to BIOS/AI software only.

You need to go in Configure->Advanced->Nuvoton chip and set all PWM Modes to manual.

Sweet! Thanks! I'll try it out when I'm done stressing. If this lifts the 60% limit on fans, I'll be very happy. I wonder why Asus set lower limits like that? the bios says the number is out of range when you try to set anything lower, and AI Suite II doesn't let you set below 60% either. odd.

This Nuvoton chip seems to be able to scale the voltage for the fans all the way from 0 (or something very low, all the fans I tried stopped at 0%) to 12V. I believe ASUS deliberately set the minimum to 60% = 7V to make sure no fans will go below their start voltage and stop spinning. Less tech-savvy people (me too if I were one of them) would not be satisfied if they tried to get some silence and ended up cooking up their system because their case fans had shut down.

Seems that I can control the CPU and CHA headers but not the ones labeled PWR on the Deluxe board. Set all three PWM modes to manual.

PWR Fan1 isn't connected to the nuvoton chip I believe. it even says in the manual that only CPU fan and Chassis fan are controllable. (1 CPU header, 3 Chassis fan headers)

In short, I think pro is fine. 12 phases is still overkill IMO. I only bought the Deluxe because no pro's were in stock. so if you don't need the front panel USB3, get the pro if you can find it.

This is exactly the behavior I'm seeing with my new board...way lower speed-stepped voltage at default settings. Mine would dip to .85V or maybe a little lower.

and after an hour of re-routing fan wires, I discover that the CPU_FAN plug won't even read RPM readings from a single wire. apparently it only reads RPM if ALL the wires are there? What kind of BS is that? so now AI Suite's monitor program can't be used since it complains about CPU Fan 0RPM all the time. very disappointed in Asus. how do you screw up such a simple thing? /end rant

So exactly what type of 120mmx38mm fan would I need to buy to have the mobo control it's speed per CPU temp?

4-pin, aka a PWM fan will work perfectly fine. but you could just plug a standard 3pin fan into any of the chassis fan headers, those work fine too but make wire-routing more difficult. (there's one above the PCI-E 1x slot and one at the very bottom of the board. the PWR_FAN plugs aren't controllable)

disregard my above rant. CPU fan plugged into a CHA_FAN header with single RPM wire going into CPU_FAN works fine. so this is a great workaround for people with a 3-pin CPU fan. my problem was the extension wire I used was grounding into the RPM reporting wire. (poor design)

Nice Mate 17+ hrs You know for sure that's stable , heck everything well 85% of the Overclocks I've tried fail 2 hrs into prime. I'm close but not quite hit the right set up yet..:confused:

You could also disable the monitoring of the CPU fan in AI Suite to silence the warnings and forgo the extra wire altogether.

McLaren F1 Thanks for the reply Mate. That's about the same as I used on the recalled board 1.31v straight voltage , I might kick the + offset voltage to the curb for now and go with that again .. Heck I'm trying everything :D.. Me and Mr. CMOS have become good friends..

It's use more of a + offset with Regular LLC , Or a Medium LLC with a much Lower + offset voltage as they = all most the same, give a bit higher voltage with the first one, but I'm close.. Nothing more frustrating than keep checking Prime and you think u hit it and 2hrs in it fails.. LMAO But that's life.

Anyone have opinions on the Digi+ VRM spread spectrum? Asus claims it improves stability, but I think it may just be marketing bs. enabling it requires using standard or optimized Digi+ Phase control (not usable on Extreme), and disables manual VRM Frequency mode

I tried enabling both Digi+ VRM spread spectrum and CPU Spread spectrum, and I'm still 12+ hours prime stable. doesn't seem to make a difference to me compared to Extreme/350MHz but I do wonder how many phases are active in "optimized" mode and what possible effects on stability it might have. although their overclocking guide recommends Extreme/350MHz so who knows. maybe these CPU's are so hard to get long-term stable because of radiation/EMI effecting other components? i swear my last board (gigabyte UD4) was nearly impossible to get stable. (but could have been a bad CPU) so maybe there is some truth to Asus' claims?

If you're OCing in the 4.8 GHz range or more, you're going to want your Digi+ VRM power phase control set to Extreme. Use Spread Spectrum and you're making each individual phase work harder occasionally for the sake of insignificantly less EM interference and power.

so, say a deluxe with 16 phases may be using 8 or 12 during full load with Optimized? isn't that still a bit overkill?

also, does anyone really know the impact of using the EPU chip?

warning to anyone using EPU, the "Quite" option for fan control seems to turn off the fans entirely. I had this option enabled for "Max. power saving" and it made my computer overheat and shut off twice. maybe it's fine without an overclock, who knows.

also I'm pretty sure on "auto" it switched to max power savings during gaming since I had an incident where the cpu fan stopped in the middle of a game. so the "auto" EPU option doesn't seem very smart at all.

I'm with ASUS P8P67 EVO with BIOS 1305 and can't boot 1st time. I tried to change PCI-ex vga boot sequence and I have to turn on 2 times to start the PC ¬¬
Now I'm for 24/7 on air with 1.30v set on BIOS. On load I have 1.288v or 1.296v

My 2600k scales some well I think:

4500 Mhz at 1.30v
4600 Mhz at 1.33v
4700 Mhz at 1.36v
4800 Mhz at 1.39v
4900 Mhz at 1.41v
5000 Mhz at 1.44v

It runs Linx at every speed, but for long BOINC calculations I think that is better at 4500Mhz :)
The memory is running all in auto at 2133 Mhz
Can anyone help me to solve 1st Boot failure and don't reset system on every Boot?
Autoanswer--> On BIOS... Advanced-->APM-->PPower on by PCIe-->Enable ( I wil try this tonight ^^ )

yeah that is real good. mine curves up higher in the 4.9/5.0 range though. I think for 5.0 I'd need 1.475-1.5 which I'm not comfortable with. but 4.9 is stable around 1.43

does BOINC have any error checking like prime? maybe you're sending in bad work units? I've always wondered that.

in my experience that's usually something to do with RAM or memory controllers. my old sandy began to degrade after torture testing for 2 months and she wouldn't even run 2133MHz at stock anymore. I would try downclocking mem to see if it's really mem or not. then if it is, you could try adding more VTT, vdimm, or loosening some timings.

Edit: I see you're running Ripjaws X, I have those too. aren't they rated for 9-11-10-28 1.65v? you seem to have them 9-11-9 1.6v, maybe that's the problem? I didn't have much luck tightening mine anymore than default. even if they pass memtest they fail prime blend or IBT.

I just run linx at 5Ghz on air set 1.44v on bios.
On idle it has 1.43v and full has 1.45v

Try testing linX with more memory - click on the all button by the memory about 3-5 min after you boot up to et at least 2.5gb...
Try switching to 1T command rate too.

oh, right. my mistake. my 8GB kit is 1.65v and your 4GB is 1.6. interesting. either way, I would mess with VDIMM or VTT to see if it makes a difference. with high overclocks it does produce more memory bandwidth and may pull the rams slightly out of intended spec. or maybe you got a lemon of a stick, it happens. G.Skill forums are also very helpful.

Happened to me as well.
Linx avx and prime95 small ftt was passing on a given vcore but not blend.
more vcore solved it.
I know it sounds weird but i'm not the only one.

hmm, if this is the case... then my suspicions about larger FFT sizes stressing the decode engines harder may be true. 1024KB FFT's seemed to fail the most on me. and if I'm not mistaken, this is why we stress with prime95 because the decode engines are the weakest link on these new chips while LinX/IBT mostly stresses the FPU.

I already thought so, because without it I get several bsods/ 3dmarkload errors and so on.(tripple cfx) Yesterday I connect it and it's more stable now.

I received today my P8P67 Deluxe B3 (1305 bios) and i have a strange issue installing nvidia drivers 266.58 that never seen on my replaced P8P67 Deluxe.

Made a fresh W7 64bit installation and motherboard drivers every is fine until the installation of nvidia drivers, after reboot i can't get to the desktop and have instant reboot. I only can get to the desktop with windows safe mode or uninstalling nvidia drivers.

Is this a known issue?!..... :confused:

I already had 266.58 installed from my P67A-UD4, so no problems here. if there was an issue I'm sure we'd hear a lot more about it.

have you tried uninstalling from safe mode and then doing a clean install? (the checkbox during install)

Try to raise IOH (North Bridge) and (South Bridge) , very important PCIexpress voltage.
Also disable everything that you are not using while benching in the Bios, example: disable Lan , Realtek onboard sound , USB-3 and Sata 3 , 1234 firewire port etc.. , sorry i cannot remember all my settings from my P8P67-Deluxe. Good Luck.

Well, my week-old B3 Deluxe broke last night, dammit. I lost the PCIe x16_1 slot (top VGA slot).
I was getting a brief chirp the last few days whenever I'd power on the system or shut it down and it gave up the ghost last night.

I swapped vid cards and I get no action on that first PCIe slot - the second one works fine, although I still get a brief chirp. All power connections were/are fine.

If I have a card occupying that first slot, the VGA LED lights up red and I get no display.

Any idea what could've caused this?

1. fix the CPU/turbo ratio is wrong after clear CMOS
2. fix mouse cursor may be drift if there is a joystick plug in
3. fix that xhci legacy support function fail if there is another PCIE usb3.0 addon card on the system
4. Improve TPU's algorithm to bring better performance on some CPUs.

It sounds like the B3 board solves a host of ills. Is that the case? I always thought there was more than SATA II issues on the recall.

P.S.
Can everyone post their CPU cooler when posting OC results. There is a big difference between the different water and air configurations; what works on one may be way out of reach on another.

Bios 1502 has hindered my high overclock and stabilty :( , i used to run on my Asus P8P67-Deluxe at 5600Mhz for benching and it was stable with Bios 1305 but since i upgraded Bios yesterday i have lost the ability to bench at 5600Mhz SB , now i have lost 100Mhz overnight as i can only bench stable at 5500Mhz now :(. Asus get your Sh** together and bring me working Bios and support for my Elpida Hypers asap please...

I upgraded to 1502 from 1305 on my P8P67 Pro and from what i have seen its more stable. Cant get 55x as before but 54x is rock solid through everything I have pcmark05 left to do but wprime 1024m ran. I need to spend more time with this setup really.

Hey there,

i am looking for a P67 based motherboard at the moment and many publications and people i talk to state the Asus P8P67 is one of the best choices especially when u consider serious overclocking which i do.
But i am curious about a rumor that the P8P67 or maybe P67 in general are still suffering from the "Cold Boot Bug" which was very common among several (P35/P45) Boards in the past.

Can someone confirm if this still occurs with the P67 or maybe its just Asus related. If it is is there a workaround to get rid of it?

@chipsy. No issues here with the bios 1502, at least with running benches. The AIDA and CPU Z mainboard were an after thought.

KingZer0. I have not had any cold boot issues with mine since the first couple of bios revisions. My new B3 board has no boot issues so far.

I also had issues with my oc and the new 1502 bios, but once I hit the clear cmos jumber on my asus p67pro baord it seems to be as good or better than the 1253 bios. before I cleared the cmos it was junk and couldnt get past 4700. I also did leave the psu unpowered for a few minutes after clearing the cmos

any workaround on the AI suite installation bug

i have tried the patch and it still crashes out.

on win7 64 sp1

so far tried the following applying the patch and rebooting in admin mode each time:

install off disk - instant crash
install the 'installall' off the disk - crashes but reboots the system anyway
install off the downloaded version - crashes instantly.

would really like to get a few of the utilities working. will email asus from work tomorrow, just wondered if anyone has had any luck?

I installed off the disc with Win 7 64 bit. No problems with it at all. How are you guys getting those high Gflpos in LinX? I am testing a 4.5 and only see about 51.

You need to install SP1 and get the latest LinX from zalbards 4.5 LinX stable club thread (first post) then if you want really high gflops turn off Hyperthreading in Bios.(max Stress too) You can also select 4 threads in Linx but the Gflops will not be as high and the temps will be a little lower.:)

now im getting rather annoyed
new bios on this morning, tried to get 5ghz which is now out of the question at my current settings.
using offset voltages so that my vcore drops down in parallel with speedstep.

my prime stable 5ghz has disappeared into the ether :(

seems that my 8 hour prime run at 4.9 was stable...

does the new BIOS fix the offset voltage issues? for example, "auto" offset @ 45x multi = 1.436v, but with only +0.005v offset it goes to 1.368v. and minus offset is all kinds of screwed up too, there's no happy medium between minus and plus offsets.

anyways, I've managed to find a good 24/7 conservatively safe OC for summer temps and 24/7 folding.
4.5GHz 1.312v load (High LLC), all power management enabled. even the EPU, Optimized phases and T. Probe with VRM Spread Spectrum. super stable, but unfortunately 1.3v and lower aren't :/ I'm gonna see how much 4.6GHz requires to see if it's worth the bump, I'm thinking 1.35v since 4.7GHz needs 1.376v.

oh, and I still can't get my highest OC (4.8GHz) to work properly with offset voltage.

im 3D stable ( vantage , 06 , 03 , 05 ) at 5300mhz with 1.55vcore but i cant even run super pi 1m , i reboot instantly.. !!

thats pretty much my summary there

offsets is screwed. would be good if they did it like the gigabyte AM3 boards where they show you the eventual vcore with the offset value taken into account.
either way im back on manual vcore settings which is a crying shame as i wanted it settling at 1v at idle.

im not having much luck with this board so far. :(

Try setting Phase control to manual and set for ultra fast. Splave mentioned that a while back and seems to work for SPi runs.
