here is my new giga UD3R bios F4 with my 24/7 Settings i have now v-core 1,27V amd its game and prime stabil.
i have before a asus p5Q-E and its not stabil.
http://www.abload.de/thumb/490x854165ghztl38.jpg
i run both 4.4 & 4.5 for one hour prime (i was in a hurry, will test longer soon) and alot of benching also play FC2 for 3hrs on 4.5GHz:D, on 4.6 id ENABLE Load-Line Calibration because of random freezing, seem to fix it, have not run prime for more than 15min, will hopfully test it latter,
i did get to 4.7GHz
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=465080
working on 4.8 right now:up: crashed just before a validate it:down:
nice job fatguy on the 3.9GHz with 1.44v:up: i had to run 1.65 for that and 1.76v for 4.1 with my Q6600
Thanks
How do i disable cores? I want to see how high it will go on 2 cores and 1 core.
Official BIOS on Giga site:
GA-EP45-UD3R - F5
GA-EP45-UD3P - F6
GA-EP45-UD3LR - F4
F6 has come a bit late, I was hoping we would have a F7 final (UD3P) for Christmas beings F7a has been doing the rounds for a bit now.
Thanks for posting links.
How do I unlock extra BIOS options? I heard it was ctrl + F1. But I do that and the screen like refreashs and nothing changes?
BuGjAE and radaja,
on your posted earlier (#794/95/96), you're welcome and thanks.
fatguy1992,it doesnt have this feature anymore, although if you go to the page where you set the boot order,i think its called advanced something, and then do the ctrl+f1 you do see some kind of change not sure what it is but something extra get added there.
Ok guy I think there are something improvement with F6 here is the quick test result.
Hi there guys, had a ud3p for about a week now trying to push my q9550 past 4ghz. right now its stable at 465*8.5 but if i move it up to 470 I am getting system freezes after about 5 mins. The thing that confuses me is that up until it freezes there are no calculation errors in linpack/prime95/etc. Extra voltage on mch or core don't seem to help. I know my ram is good to around 1020 or so on these timings/volts.
I'm really here to ask what would cause freezing like this? What can I do to prevent it? Hopefully some of you with more experience than I will know.
These settings here are not voltage optimised but they are fairly stable from initial testing. I could probably put together a bios template tomorrow when I have the time if you think it would help.
Hi i just got this board with an e8400. My problem is i cant boot with all 4 ram slots used. I can only boot with 2 slots. Im pissed off because i already ordered 4x2gb g skills 8500. Is this a common problem? Any ideas?
You need higher MCH with more memory as well as faster FSB's. For my 2x2GB I need 1.34v for 420FSB, then more with more FSB to ~1.4v MCH
Itīs a sensetive board this EP-45-UD3P, I have a hard time get this setup stable with my E8400 C0 and 2x1 Kingston HyperX PC9600.
450 9 4050 1200 555 15 tRD7 Turbo
I can run 50 loop LinX with 57% MCH ref and itīs stable but with Orthos blend it error after ~3min and with HCI memtest error after ~100%, Run 50 loop Harbor Assault with Crysis Benchmark Tool and it was okey with 57% MCH ref.
If I try any higher MCH ref then 57% LinX error with in 10min.
I try MCH ref 60% and Orthos blend have been running for 30min and is still running.
CPU Term lower then 1,28 LinX error within 30min.
If I run MCH higher then 1,48 LinX error within 10min and lower then 1,46 error within 20min.
I have Thermalright HR-05 SLI/IFX with a 80mm fan for the HCM so heat shouldnīt be a problem.
Sometimes when I restart it even boot up it just loop in keep booting or 2 or 3 reboots then all fans on but screen is black and I have to shut it down and restart and it starts with default BIOS setup (o man, itīs so annoying , never happens with any of my Asus board).
Any suggestings?

New guy here. Just got a UD3P and I must say I am impressed.

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=466169
The best I was able to reach with the same chip using my old P35-DS3P was 3.7G and 463FSB.
Fatguy1992, thank you for sharing your settings. It was very helpful. BTW, which BIOS are you using?
Did you Try MCH reference lower, like .64(50% according to your 1.28 VTT)-.70v(54.7%) this seems to be the range that many have success with. For me .66 is the ticket, others like .68 or .70v. These are what ET6 reports or set them w/ CPU termination set at 1.2. You can raise the VTT after that back to your 1.28
Also on the "CPU clock drive" try 800mv, then on "PCI express clock drive" try 900mv
Also you can try CPU clock skew like 200ps
Thank you
When I try MCH 50% - 55% it donīt boot and if I try with CPU clock drive try 800mv, PCI express clock drive 900mv and CPU clock skew 200ps the same.
If I run CPU, PCI clock drive at default, CPU, MCH clock skew 0ps and MCH ref 61,5% (CPU Term 1,28, MCH ref 0,79) I can run Orthos blend for 5hrs (I stopped it) and HCI memtest 1000%, seems okey but if I restart it boot back to default BIOS setup, shall try to increase CPU PLL from 1,50 to 1,57 to see if boots okey.
Do you think that tRD7 are to low for the P45 chipset, with my Rampage Formula (X48) I could run tRD6 with FSB 450 1200 CAS5.
Well, I got my MB back from rma lastnight.I have been playing with it some. I have my 7200 up to 3.8 and thats pretty good but i have lost me sound once it upped the clock from 3.5 to 3.8. Its a pci-e card and i have it set to 99. Has anyone ran into this? O, my dvd cant even run sound.
well,I'm running @ 4.0 and running prime:up::shocked::shocked: still no sound tho
ghostleader,i was having the same problem trying to run above 545x8 with memory on a 5:6 divider pl8.it would pass prime for hours, but apon reboot i would get the red OC failure screen.but pl9 was fine.i have since got it to work at pl8 by raising my vdimm from 2.30 to 2.34. maybe this might help you
I tried and still cannot get 4 slots to boot. I am extremely disappointed in this board. I really hope its me not the board but i highly doubt it now. I am trying to run 4x1 gigs of Crucial Ballistix 8500 and it wont. I have 4x2gb of g skill 8500 running and now i read that this is a common problem and it wont work. If this is the case i will never buy a gigabyte again. This is my 3rd board each one had major problems. Anyways anyone have any fixes or anything?
mykemyk2010,are you giving the memory enough vdimm?should probally post your bios setting so people can help
There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to boot stock settings with 4x1GB's of Crucial Ballistix 8500's, if you can't and you are sure your RAM is not faulty then your board is the culprit.
Check your RAM voltages with Crucial, more recent sticks uses less volts.
I use 4x1GB's here which have a default voltage of 2.2
Thanks, Iīll try that.
It seems like this P45 chipset are a bit picky when it comes to push MHz and low tRD. Probably I have to settle for higher tRD if I want high MHz, I donīt like that idea. :shakes:
Right now I can boot okey with 61,5% MCH ref, CPU Term 1,32 and DRAM volt 2,30 at 450 4050 1200 555 15 tRD7 but when I run Orthos blend it crash within 20min, it donīt give me error it just crash.
I have been running Prime95 25.8 blend for 45min now without problem and itīs still running, weird, anyone know whatīs the diffrent between those two.
I just what this setup to be stable so I can go to the next step, 500 8 4000 1200 555 15
Ghostleader,
this's a BIOS setting i used to use for an e8400 450FSB DDR2-1200 tRD7 2x1GB RAM...
http://img399.imageshack.us/img399/1...6204044yi3.png
if you cannot stable your system with the setting, then try adding more MCH voltage to 1.26-1.30v, and drop the MCH ref. value down from 0.76v to 0.74v, and then try 0.72v and 0.70v. this setting should be working okay for your 450 FSB, CPU at 4.05GHz and running DDR1200.
the memory timing (in the above pic) is standard timing for the HyperX PC2-9600 running at DDR1200,
you can try the timing setting in BIOS, but also set Turbo.
if you want to tighten memory timing then do that once you can get a stable overclock, and then try retesting your system again.
for 500 FSB and up on C2D 45nm, try MCH ref. value of 0.64v-0.70v (of VTT 1.20v),
it's almost like... the higher fsb the lower MCH ref., for booting 600 FSB, i use VTT 1.40-1.46, MCH 1.40v and MCH ref. value of 0.65v.
note-- in order to use the ET6's voltage setting value in your BIOS, for example, if you want to try my voltage setting (above),
the easy way is to first set VTT to 1.20v, Vdimm 1.80v,
and then set the other voltage and ref. settings using the value shown in the ET6 and go back to VTT and Vdimm and change the 2 values last.
i hope this helps.
F6 is fine, boots a little faster than F4 or F5, as do the F6a and F7a
[QUOTE=pangingIII;3515109]Ghostleader,

not quite sure what do i need to tell you more, but i will take some pictures of my bios screens and post them later (i don't have a camera with me right now).
Tq bro Panging III.,respect..
Thank you pangingIII, Iīll try.
Any changes done in Advanced Clock Control, CPU Clock Drive, PCI Express Clock Drive, CPU Clock Skew, MCH Clock Skew?
The Prime95 session that I started when I posted post 830 ran for 10hrs then I stoped it and started LinX 50 loop but it error after loop 14.
Iīll now test your setup suggestion.
Thanks again for your time
This thread has really grabbed my attention. Gigabyte seems to have a real winner with the UD3P. At a decent price too. Makes me want to play!
Nothing wrong with the setup you see in my sig, rock stable. But I would like to ride the LGA 775 platform for another year. Just looking to get the most out of my cpu and memory, and have some fun doing it.
My Q6700 (1.275 vid) @ 1.325 vcore in bios is prime stable at 3.4. With a vdrop to 1.29 on load per everest on my BadAxe2. then comes the 975X quad brick wall of course.
I just have 2 questions:
Am I unreasonable to expect 3.7 to 3.8 OC out of my 1.275 vid Q6700 on the UD3P? Will be running it on a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme
And if I buy this board I hope I have better luck with my 4x1 gigs of Crucial Ballistix 8500's than mykemyk2010 of this thread has had. Hence the 2nd question:
I'm running the older double sided Ballistix 8500's, D9GMH modules. 16FD3 batch. Anybody running these or any other D9GMH modules in 4x1gb configuration?
Coming from the simplistic OC on a BadAxe2 to a p45 board is a big jump for me, but with the wealth of info flowing into these threads takes the worry away.
Thanks a bunch!
Sorry your having issues. Is this your 3rd UD3 board? If no, dont give up just yet on gigabyte. Go ahead and RMA yours b/c of your 4x2 gb issue. I had one of these boards take a dump and fried my RAM with it. It's still such a good board that i didn't consider anything different for replacement. Good Luck
just test running 4x2GB ram on my board again, and i just find it interesting that i can run my e8400 at 4.2GHz and also overclocking the 8GB ram to DDR2-1120MHz with only 1.20v P45's MCH voltage. i always thought this overclock was supposed to use more MCH voltage than this.
i haven't run any other stress test program, but a dual Superpi 32M, and then shutdown for a while and restart ( no overclock failure message) and ran another dual Superpi 8M.
anyway, here are some pics of my bios setting and the rest...

i haven't decided what i want to do with it, so it's still a mess right now.

pangingIII.thanks for this info, your the man.really really appreciate all the help you provide othersand myself. that is amazing that it can run 467fsb with 8gigs of ram with only 1.20MCH. makes me wonder if weve all been unessasarilly using more vMCH than needed?
pangingIII,nice setup.looks like mine but i have two fans on my true(push-pull).quick question how do you get the fan on the NB to stay.ive got one on my memory(double sided tape) but i cant tape one on the nb in that position,i want to put one there too
Has anyone noticed a temperature difference with different BIOS? Reason I asked is because with my Q9550, it runs about 15c hotter underload on this board then it did with my TPower. I have all the same voltages and everything, but the temps are still always hotter. I've even cleaned off the TIM and tried a new layer but it made no difference. I'm using BIOS F4. On my TPower it would run about 55c @ 4GHz with a TRUE. On this board however, it runs 66-70c under full load with the same voltage and everything :( Could it be the fact that on the TPower I used .63x GTL Ref and here I'm using .76x GTL Ref?
Edit: Just lowered my voltage to 1.2v from 1.25v and temp wise it didn't make any difference. I was running the same clock speeds too :(
I just hit 4.0GHz on my Q6600 :D
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/m...zOverclock.jpg
I was going to run more benchmarks and tweak ram. But then I saw my Vcore. I enabled load line calibration and instead of decreasing volts from BIOS to Windows it increased them. I couldn't get 4.1GHz to boot Windows, not sure what settings were wrong, but figure it out later.
Edit: Dam I just remembered I could have lowered it using easy tune .
radaja,
you're welcome. about the fan on NB, i just put a fan there the computer case is not in stand up position, it lays on its side on a table.
i shutdowned and powered off the system again for a while, just to checking to see if there will be a overclock failure,
the system boot right up just fine, then i went into bios and changed the MCH core voltage from the previously setting 1.20v to 1.22v (i thought maybe there is some secret behind the MCH core at 1.20v maybe it's more than that), anyways, then the system boots into Windows and i'm running Prime95 x64....
http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/8...2034001zh9.png
pangingIII ,thanks for the info. keep it up.
I started with a Tpower with this rig with a Zigmatek 1283 cooler. My experience was opposite of yours. With the Biostar board the temps where so high that I couldn't even benchmark at 3.8 Ghz (q9550) because temps would reach 80 Celsius. It may have been a bad seat on the heatsink or something. TPower board died a few hours into testing so I got the Gigabyte board. The only thing I did different on the new board was I used the IC Diamond thermal paste. Now while at 3.8 Ghz I haven't gone past 52 Celsius while doing prime. (Again, I probably had a bad seat on the Biostar board)
I Am loving this board, I installed it and then read this thread.. and in no time I am at 3.8 Ghz with my q9550. (8x475 CPU 1.264 volts, mem at 1:1) I am several hours into testing without a hint of instability. I can do 4.0 Ghz but prime drops a core and Windows feels laggy. I will be purchasing another very soon to replace the aging Abit board in my dually rig. Also considering a q9650 with this board to replace my dually rig.
Thanks to everyone who has posted.
Edit: Forgot to mention, I am using the F4 BIOS
heres my highest cpu clock to date.http://i43.tinypic.com/2s60ymc.jpghttp://i42.tinypic.com/2udx66c.jpg
Very nice SPI32M there radaja, strong board to handle 556 FSB & 667 MHz.
thanks cryptik.
I need help guys. For some odd reason, my second SATA hard drive isn't detected by Windows. The weird thing is that the drive is detected in the BIOS and the cables are all plugged in, but I don't see the second drive in Windows XP. What am I doing wrong?
Yes it's detected in device manager. However, it doesn't have a volume number and it's using the GPT protective partition. The second drive is more like my data drive and it doesn't have a file system. I forgot to mention that I used Vista to format the drive. Now, my main computer is running on Windows XP Pro. Could that be the reason why it can't detect the second drive?
Was it formatted in 64bit? Have to reformat it to use in XP pro 32bit then.
Sounds like your going to have to convert that gpt to mbr. Think there are some utilities out there able to do that.
the board itself sure like it will and can handle more CPU and RAM clocks. would you be kind to sent your ram kit to me and let me try it for a few days?
as far as i can see these Gigabyte UD3x P45s based boards are very good board and for its price too.
i like my UD3R since the day one i try it, even it's a cheaper (in price) board, it feels me like i am having a quite better board than my previous boards (p35-dq6/ds4, ex38-ds4, p5k-e, p5q-d).
at first it was not easy to overclock with this baord, took me a few hours to get used to it, after that it's quite easy to overclock with it and also get a stable overclocked system easy.
radaja, have to tried not to overclock your ram at the same time but using 1:1 and see how far you can go with the cpu?
pangingIII,only when using the 9 multi.the highest i could go 4424.but while trying these memory OC i noticed i could get the cpu higher using the 8 multi.think i will try 1:1 now and see what it can do.
radaja, try the 32M Superpi with a more higher CPU clocks and just ran your ram 1:1 5-5-5-15 you should be able to get a much better score with your e8500 and the ram kit you use.
here is my maxed out when using this 8GB RAM, btw, it's still pretty stable.
555x8 e8400 8GB RAM 1:1 DDR1110 PL10. Superpi 32M and Everest results (everest's are not bad at all when using 1:1 with this P45 board, it seems like the scores are better than what i used to see in my P35's)
http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/7...2152215in4.png
pangingIII, nice. it does look like if i could could get 560x8 or higher w/1:1 i should be able to beat my SPI 32m score. by the way that is a nice e8400 you have 4439at 1.36.sweet.UPDATE- maybe the 8gigs of ram make a difference in SPI 32,mine didnt do to well.http://i39.tinypic.com/13zswt0.jpg
Finally got some time to play about with my UD3P over the weekend & I got to say this is a strong board
I run 10H of prime @ 4350mhz with 4 x 1GB sticks of ram on the 266 strap & my HD4870X2. My DFI LP UT P45 run out of puff at 4350mhz on the 333 strap & it didn't like my 4870x2 much either so all in all Im a happy Gigabyte camper.
The Everest read & latency are a little down on the DFI but thats just a tweaking thing. I ran my mem a tad slacker the PL on channel a @ 8 instead of 7 on the DFI & the DRAM "Performance Enhance" was slackened off to standard to keep the NB voltage low.
Here's what I did to get her stable.

Finally Iīm stable
but first I would like to say thank you to SpeedEuphoria, radaja and most all pangingIII who made this possible. Thanks guys
Here itīs, 450 4050 1200 555 15 tRD7 Turbo, it passed 50 loop LinX, 5hrs Prime95 Blend, 1000% HCI memtest and 2hrs of loop with Crysis Benchmark Tool (Harbor Assault).

I know, my chip isnīt the best but it need that much juice (1,36 under load) to stable, therefore the temp, maybe if I reset my HSF I can cut 5C.
Iīm not impress by the Bandwidth and latency but then again Iīm use to X48 DDR2 performance.
But I most say, I still think this P45 chipset is a very sensitive one.
0,02 volt in either directing and itīs unstable or it even worst, it wonīt boot and itīs the same with the MCH ref, two steps in either directing and it wonīt play.
I now move on to 500 8 4000 1200 555 15
C-N very impressive OC. Ghostleader, nice to see your making some headway.i also agree with you 100% about pangingIII, his help is greatly appreciated.
Here are my results sp far fsb wise. CPU not yet testet much. But it doesn't seam to run very well :-/
PLL i had to raise to 1,15 because of boot issues.
You think the MB Volts are fine ?

1nsane,looks good. but im amazed that its able to boot at all with that low of pll. mine doesnt like anything below 1.57. ive tried 1.50 no boot. but like i said good job
I'm a little bit disapointed with my cpu because of the high vcore i need.
And my RAM are crab they only go 520 (1040). g.skill 1000 F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ.
May be somebody has good settings to get behind 520 for that kit but i tried almost everything :-/
I was doing quick test on my UD3P and noticed something strange. When I set vcore to 1.35v in BIOS and 400x9 for FSB, in windows it's actually 1.376 and even under load it's 1.376v. Anyone experience this? Would there be any harm? I think I can re-adjust in BIOS to reflect in windows but wasn't sure if this is ok to start with.
Memory question here.. I have this ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231194 and have tried to set my memory to PL9 like suggested earlier in this thread. By default SPD setting it is at PL 10 and if I try to change it to PL9 I get a failed overclock. Is it time for new RAM? If so I would like to try Corsair Dominators http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145197 or this GSkill http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231184
With DDR2 Ram prices so cheap I would like to keep a couple of extra kits around anyway in case a stick dies.
Thoughts?
i have problems with kingston PC9200 4x1Gb mainboard giga EP-UD3R bios F5 what i make wrong to be stabil @4,0ghz or 4,2ghz multi 8-9 with a E8400 EO Batch Q828... V-ID:1,25
i habe 2x1GB in dual and single channel problems or 4x1GB the rams have I testet with memset with Boot Cd all Rams 100% ok.now i have G.Skill PC8000 2x2GB and it works fine 467x9=4,2ghz
with 1,34V-core but the rams end is maximum 520mhz thats not good for multi 8.and this memorys i have testet 4x1GB Ballistx Tracer with Leds it haves the same problems with Kingston.
the problems beginns @450 fsb multi 6-9 what i make wrong. sorry for my bad englisch.

siyah, so you rock out while priming and stressing? i never thought of doing that.i just sit in silence and watch and pray. hehe. oh and im not sure exactly what your asking? ithink maybe trouble getting stable with the kingston ram?
@radaja
My question is why the Kingston and Crucial memory is not stable over 450fsb can go? I have no problems and prime music to hear otherwise there will be so boring
siyah, post all your bios settings(voltages and memory sub timings). what pl level are yor running? give us as much details as possible,so we can help. and about the music,im just jealous i never thought of it.cause your right its boring while priming.
Here are my current settings much can be done with Easy Tune 6 to read the rest of the store is consistent with everything on auto timmings PL, etc.
stromsparfuncionen ICE disabled memory standard, pci 100, memory divisor 2.0 B,LLC enabeld
I need your ram G.skill pc8800 :)

siyah, maybe up the vMCH from 1.2 to 1.3 or higher, maybe add a little more vDIMM see if that helps.
yes its boot vMCH @1,4 vDIMM 2,28V
thangs man ram 2.0D work,do not works on 2.0B
i am testing @4,2 or higher

Here I am with my Q9550 at 490x8.5. I could really use some help making that last jump to 500x8.5 if it's not an impossible feat.
It completed twenty passes in Intel's Burn Test at 490x8.5; OCCT ran for two hours; I haven't tried with Prime95 yet.

try 1.65v pll that should set u for any clock higher (any)
increase cpu termination if needed
cpu reference .935v
MCH core up to 1.5v-1.55v?
MCH ref. .990v
MCH/Dram 1.120v
ICH core 1.2
u may have to enable loadline??? try ^ first
with llc you should be able to lower vcore way down
what ur temps???
Hey could someone please tell me the max safe MCH volts for 24/7 on the stock NB cooler? Thanks
there only one thing about this mobo i dont like, the Realtek HD audio manager, on my other boards (all mobos about) have a option for stero audio to change to 5.1 or 7.1, i dont:down: and it doesnt even show my rear speakers:( through analog i only get stereo audio:mad: , im able to use the digital out it works great, any one less have this problem????
on a positive+ i was able to oc my ram to 1200MHz at 2.2v cas5-5-5-15:D on this mobo, my tpower i45 couldnt even get over 1080 at 2.4v same ram:ROTF:
