panginggIII, whaen i tried the 500fsb with ram at 5:6 i dont know exactly what the lowest possible vdimm for the teams was i just set it at 2.28,my board undervolts so it was showing 2.24 in ET6,as for the mch i think it was at 1.46.

mch core at 1.46 is just perfect for your system i think.
as far as i can see your system seems to have a pretty good cooling solution, and this could be the more copper pcb board gets pretty decent cold air with your air con tube thing into the computer case.
i don't know, if i am you, i would try the 500fsb with the gskill 8800 2x2, i like to use at least 4GB ram with vista x64 based os,
and when the gskill 9600 pi price drop grab one of the ram kit and you should be all set.
yep, thats what i was thinking on both of those things, tonight ill try the pc8800's and i also want a set of those 9600's,to expensive right now.so you think at 1.46mch it shouldnt be a problem?
Yep I think I will pull the trigger and get one, I was waiting to see if they would come down just a touch more, but i want to get a current batch as i know they are OC'ing well and future batch's may not be as good. Think today is the day, lol.
They seem to do similar clocks to the E8400's at the same voltages which is awesome and this board loves them!!
Jor3lBr,
can you tell me approximately where the recommendations for the CPU Ref and MCH Ref settings are in this thread? as well as any other appropriate Bios settings are? I will only be going after a mild overclock somewhere around 400fsb, btw.
UD3P rev 1.1 PCB
Crucial Ballistix 2x2GB DDR2 CL4 kit
Intel e8400
For an E8400, CPU ref can prob be left at stock .760(in ET6) note that changing VTT will change this but ET6 doesn't account for it.
You can likely do around 3.8Ghz with stock setting, may need more MCH core, mine needs 1.24MCH for 3.8Ghz on stock volts with 2x2GB ram.
After you get higher you need to lower MCH ref, .70v is a good starting point, which is according to ET6. So to set this you leave VTT on 1.2v and lower MCH ref to .70, then raise VTT up to where you want.
As you raise clocks higher than 4.3Ghz and higher FSB you prob have to raise MCH core(up to max of ~1.36v) and lower MCH ref(to as low as ~.65v)
If you want to look at others settings in this thread read starting from ~page 20 in this thread for settings
speedeuphoria,do it! get it while thier hot.and you are right about them clocking about the same as the duals.this one i have seems to clock just as good as my E8500,maybe better. plus it taking less volts than my E8500 to do the same clocks.i will continue pushing it to see how much better it is.at this point though i stick by my word that this is probally the best cpu out there.
Finally started tweaking this thing and was able to get past 4GHz. :woot:

hi all.,this is my 1st 4ghz with Q9550.,i want to use this setting for 24/7.,but 1 of he core temp abit high.,is it ok for 24/7..any advice from all the pro's here..tq
yes bro.,i set the vtt 1.20 in bios.,1st i set it to 1.24.,after successfully boot windows.,i revert back to 1.20 to see if still can boot windows.,and the i'll try priming fo 15minutes..everythings fine.,only one of the core abit hot..is the settings ok bro..
guys whats the best ddr2 to to get for this UD3P mobo??? need to know asap so i can get it shipped tonight for tomorrow
ezaleina, very nice.and yes of course that would be perfect for 24/7 if it is stable.very low volts.i wish i could get mine down that low.great job
some stupid questions=
1) is ddr2 faster better in any way to ddr3 ie 1200 ddr2 cas 44412 to 1800 ddr3 88824?
2) if my fsb is 500 is it better to get my ram to match 1:1 ratio?
You dont start to see benifit from ddr3 over ddr2 i believe until you get to around 1700 mgz, there is not a ton of difference between the ddr2 and ddr3, but when you start hitting 1800 + you get some decent benifit.
The big thing to me is ddr2 has reached its max, ddr3 has no way come close to its max yet, there up to ddr3 2133 mgz and climbing. I7 takes full advantage of ddr3, the p45 chipset and ddr3 are just not a good match, you need a x48, 790i chipset, or 17. Bob your better off getting a x48, 790i, i7 if your going ddr3, or use the ud3p for ddr2, hope that helps you.
I'm sorry I no good to help you out on Duo Cores, I don't have a dually since the E4400 I think.
So your best bet would be getting some stable templates here and pay extra attention to Cpu Ref and MCH Ref, tweak them to your RAM and CPU.
Memtest #7 errors means a bad MCH Ref setting;
If you feel all the voltages are good and you fail Prime95 in few minutes thats a sign of a bad CPU Ref setting.
ezaleina, mine are weird too,ive got two stuck.one wont go below 36c and the other wont go below 31c.the other two drop down to about 23c 26c when its cool enough.but above 36c they all scale pretty evenly.how much higher is your high one?it shouldnt be a problem with a few degrees difference.if your using realtemp you can calibrate them so they are the same i think?
i looking to get a P45 board, since my ip35PRO died on me 2 days ago, do you recommend the ud3p or BIOSTAR TPower I45 LGA 775 ? I have Q6600 8GB DDR2-1000
I for the life of me cannot figure out what GTL refs to use. I see people all the way from .76v to .90v on the CPU and NB. I know it changes with the VTT and NB voltage you use, but not everyone is using the same formula for their calculations
I did a quick scan of this thread, and found the following sets of info for quads:
Speed VTT CPU Ref Multi NB NB Ref Multi PLL
8x451 1.2v .76v .63x 1.3 .76v .58x 1.5v
8x505 1.34v .83v .619x 1.4 .88v .628x 1.59v
9x500 1.4v .89v .63x 1.6 .90v .562x 1.5v
9x500 1.44v .76v .527x 1.6 .76v .475x 1.65
9x525 1.48v .815v .55x 1.6 .90v .5625x 1.59
That's what I meant when I said not everyone is using the same formula. You have CPU GTLs all the way from .52x to .63x, and NB GTLs from .475x to .628x :shakes:
