Have a look at this!!!
With an Intel DX58SO!!!
Very cool!
I should not have a very good D0, 21*194 "HT on" I need 1.28v ... :(
1.24v in bios but R2E vdroop in load
^you're spoiled if you think that is alot of voltage for that speed ;)
is that I see a lot of D0 which are stable at 4GHz and 1.22, 1.24v in load :D
you are almost at 4.1ghz :) I wouldnt worry man, its a great oc
ok thank you :up:
Hello guys
i got some new toys :)

So, where are we going to break under 5 mins for 32M SuperPI? Probably in 2012?

This chip will fly with a good board.
Nice clocks on that Xeon... now your tempting to pick one up to test... :cool:
Zucker2K,
Given the 221x21 came at just 1.3 vcore, did you hit a 'wall' at 222 bclk? That is , did you find that more voltage makes no improvement in Bclk?
Hey can anyone tell me if the xeons are locked on RIIE if you can still use your ram at 1600mhz or more? or does it limit you right down from those speeds?
Watercooling.
Designed and manufactured the waterblock myself.
Radiator comes from an Opel/Vauxhall Omega 1994
Pump is an Alphacool AP1510
Reservoir is also made by me..
just want to check
whats the max mem multi on i7 920.
i realize i didnt know this.
it's 16...
yup
can anybody run it??
or more importantly to those who has ram capable of running it and knows what voltages u need
can u run it
hmm i can run 2200mhz CL8 stable at bclk 210 vtt 1.48v 1.65vdimm
but i cant run that ram mutlplier at stock cpu speed at CL8/CL9/CL10 1.65v
with the require vtt to run it.
perplexed atm.
As you know most peeps get higher OC's with HT off, do you think its better to have stable OC running at lower speed with HT on or higher speeds with HT off ? This has been on my mind for a while as i have read that having HT on only improves performance by about 10%
I'm in process to figure this out, will have to run some benchmark (PCMark Vantage, everest, etc) to compare 4.40Ghz with HT enable vs. 4.50Ghz with HT disable to see which one I would pick to run 24/7. Other than Photoshop CS4 I have not seen any game or apps that can fully utilized all 4 cores left alone 8 threads, I use my machine for photo/video editing, gaming, movie and music playing. Keep in mine that clock for clock you would see almost 10'C reduction with HT disable, if yours is approaching 90'C underload with HT enable, you probably want to disable it, or go easy on the overclock.
Damn I don't know what to do guys, I have these 2 to choose from:
3849A823
3847A839
Seems both weeks clock very good, there are good 47's and there are even better 47's... and there are good 49's and even better 49's... I don't think it would matter right?
choices choices ;) :D
I would be atleast :) as my cpu need over 0.1 MORE for HT at same speed (4,2Ghz) and hitting over 80c with my WC.
While in HT off, 4,2 i get about 67-68c on highest core in Linx with 1.36.
not really a 920 d0...but close
i still need to tweak some stuff but so far so good
max blck for the moment...hopefully i can sqeeze out a few mhz more

4.2ghz @ 1 hour Prime95 small FFTs. Not too shaby.
http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j.../Prime95-1.jpg
That's impressive. Water?
Edit: NVM.
That's one nice looking "air" machine you got there.
Here's mine so far... waiting on an XSPC RX 360 Rad. to hold the temps down then I'll shoot for more.
http://www.hostthenpost.org/uploads/...a852a04d81.jpg
Nice, very nice. Don't know what mine will do for an hour at 4.5ghz prime style as temps will get a little hot on me. I am sure it would be right in line with yours.
Nah, I'm sure yours will be better since you only need 1.200v for 4.2Ghz with HT. I bet with proper cooling you can prime at 4.5Ghz with HT on at max 1.35v. Nice chip you got there.
Edit: The only potential problem you'll ran into is whether your board will allow stressing at a high bclk.
Thanks. I will give it another crack at it soon as I would like to get 4.5ghz stable well at least stable for a hour just to say I did it.
Goodluck. If you haven't already, bump pcie frequency a little - 102 -104, ioh to 1.18-1.20.
Here is my new i7 920 D0 Batch:3847A821
http://www.abload.de/thumb/4400hton60minq2ki.jpg
I post some pics. of my tomorrow, since i got only my stock cooler. But im picking up a Noctua hold-down plate to 1366.
But what VTT-volt is "okey"?
Lots of nice oc here now:D
Just got my rig dialed in, a Do w/ Classified 760
tuniq tower 120, air
Personal record so far:
231.41x21 http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=564612
Basically, the replacement D0, 3845B026, has identical performance as the 027. So it's a tossup which to keep, both max out (so far) at 4859 on air.
THe 026 needs about .05 V more for the same clock, but runs cooler. Also, I ran prime95 sustained on the 027 at 4263 Mhz at 1.184 Vcore, I have yet to see what the 026 can do. If it's close, I'll probably keep the 026 cause despite higher Vcore, it runs cooler. [ I did an advance replacement from the retailer who sold it to me, so I've had both for a few days, Intel isn't involved.]
Man Roller, I wish I was able to do that. I cannot seem to get anything over 219 to boot and nothing over 225 once I am in Windows with the Classified and that's with 1.5v for both vcore and VTT. I am still playing with it, but it is frustrating. I may just put the Classified up on Ebay and go back to the BR, haven't decided yet.
drnip,
Your advice please...I have two chips, a 027 and a 026. The 026 needs 1.41 Vcore to do the 231.4x21 validation, the 027 just 1.34. But the 026 runs cooler in all things at the same clock even though it needs more volts. I have an outstanding RMA so I must send one back. Which chip should I keep?
The main issue if you overclock a i7 is heat. So my advice is to keep the cooler Chip! And to be honest, 231.4x21 is very god for a 920
I'll be buying the 920 in Australia soon, can anyone suggest a batch I should look out for?
027 and a 026, that's a good question.
I may be able to choose between several D0 soon, and wondering about the same. Any pattern for good D0-batches is emerging yet?
You guys who have been following, any advise about A, B or which week/batch# to look for?
Anyone interested in this one?
I wanna sell it...

I'm I in the ball park with this score? How could I improve score?
http://service.futuremark.com/home.a...&resultType=19
It looks like B batch does actually OC a little better from the few CPUs we've seen so far.
Got my Classified and W3520 Batch 3848A352 together late last night, I also install the heatkiller 3 block. So far so good, now to go higher...:D

I will be picking mine up this Saturday...the only problem is the guy has hundreds of these things... he said I could pick which ever one I want.
What are the best Batch #s
thanx in advance :D
027 is a nice one as well as the 026.
Does that version of 3DMark correctly read the +1 multiplier when using Turbo mode?
He probably ran 3DMark at 4200 MHz but it only reported 4000 MHz because it used a 20X multi instead of the correct 21X.
I pulled the trigger and ordered one on Ebay (from this Pao guy). Batch as stated is: 3849B209. I wonder if he has any lower B batch number than what he stated on his auction.
A so-so Xeon W3520 chip can be seen here. >> xeon W3520
Nice chip RR.:up:
A few days late on this, but there cannot be a XX74 chip. Here's the batch code list for those who care.
Quote:
Example: L149A463-0726
1st letter or digit = plant code (Malay)
0 = San Jose, Costa Rica
1 = Cavite, Philippines
3 = .............., Costa Rica
6 = Chandler, Arizona
7 = .........., Philippines
8 = Leixlip, Ireland
9 = Penang, Malaysia
L = ............, Malaysia
Q = ..........., Malaysia
R = Manila, Philippines
Y = Leixlip, Ireland
2nd digit = Year of production (2001)
3rd & 4th digits = week (49th week )
5th - 8th digits= lot number
10th - 13th digits = serialization code
3DM only detects the PLL or BCLK whatever its called of 200 on that run when actually it was 200 x 21. 3DM thinks it is 200 x 20... :up:
I had win7 on there for 3DMark but kept getting the windows restore after OC fail and reboot. I got tired of that real quick...
http://www.myalbumbank.com/albums/us..._3dm-28748.jpg
Other than the Xeon have you guys seen anybody prime their 920 D0 at >4.50Ghz with HT on (water or air cooled)?
Well...I just ordered one from the guy in SoCal, I have a classified coming on Mon, so this should work out good. :up:
The thing I love is that I can leave every voltage/ memory, setting on auto, set my 120mm CPU fan to 900 RPM so I can't even hear that the computer's on, and I can loop 3DM06 for hours ...all this at 205x21 4305 Mhz/ 1.180 vcore. I mean if I don't look at the front panel lights, I can't the thing is on it's so quiet.
BTW, I've got a great 4755 Mhz C0 for sale, anyone interested? I'll have it up on Ebay tomorrow.
http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/6751/c0rec.jpg
all you guys getting higher temps with these d0's like mine?
Bobby - no. This Xeon runs a lot cooler than my C0 920.
I recieved mine from antaresdigital.com so the place is legit, 280 shipped nice deal if anyone still looking for them. Batch is 3849A easily hits 21x222 bclk on UD5, haven't messed with it much beyond that yet as I have a Classified coming tommorow or next day to let the real fun begin!
Yup! Got mine form them today as well. Awesome stuff...they are legit for sure, great find.
I'm Sushiglobster on the Evga forums. I have a 3849A32 D0 at 4.5ghz ...LinX is passing at 1.34vcore on load.
Thing runs hotter than hell, my poor PA120.3 and Heat Killer 3.0 must be screaming.
Load temp is around 73c...earlier today I touched 80c....ambient temps in my room were pretty hot though.
So far, this chip is awesome. Simply the best chip I've ever owned. Now I have to deal with the heat issue.
Heres a 3dmark06 run.
3849a846
http://service.futuremark.com/result...eResultType=14
Speed was 4662 with turbo and HT on. 222*21.
ex58 extreme on water.
1.5 volts those.
My old c0 took 1.5 volts to hit 4.32ghz with HT on turbo on.
So for a 150 dollar upgrade I got 340mhz.
However my 3dmark score jumped up 2 thousand points.
Temps are about 10 degree hotter those on the d0.
So far so good at 4.50Ghz :rocker:
