What scores do you get with everest as ive just played about with mine from 5.5.5.15 1066Mhz with 400/1066 to 4.4.4.12. 800Mhz 400/800 and ive dropped from 8066 to about 7685 with my score. Not alot lost but i can run at a 1.1 ratio so if i did 450 x 8 then i could run 900Mhz but i wonder if i could keep the 4.4.4.12 or will i get errors in memtest???
I guess im gonna have to do some more tests to find out.....
I have had the most stability at 450 fsb using the 266/667 strap with 2x2gb sticks of gskill 1066 ram at 5-5-5-15...these settings yield everest read scores of about 9600 and latency values about 50.1. The NB voltage is about 1.5v. I'm watercooling both the CPU and the NB.
From a memory performance standpoint, are you guys saying I would be better off using the 333 or 400 strap? If so, I assume I would need to turn down the NB voltage a bit too? I have had difficulty getting the 333 and 400 straps to runs stable.
I'm just a novice -your advice is appreciated!

Those GTL value looks way high to me? My Q6600 is stable @3.6Ghz (9x400) with 82/83.
Yes so far but i dropped my ram speed as they say 4 x 1gb can damage the memory controller host when running at full speed over time so by dropping it to 840Mhz 400/800 @ a 1.1 ratio with 4.4.4.12 im getting the same peformance as running it at full speed with 5.5.5.15. This also dropped my lat by 6 in everest.
Im confused as on all my other "ASUS" mobos i needed atleast 1.3v FSB to get stable but people on this mobo are at 1.2v so am i to high with 1.28 ?
Ive now set them to this cpu vtt 1.250v 110 105 80 because it was set to 110 110 110 in my bios.

The first values that I posted were correct. The X38 and X48 BIOSes are wrong. I have just spoken to DFI and they are going to release a new BIOS with corrected values.
I also have the NB GTL REF values that people were asking me for last night, so I will redo all the tables in the article again, and should be done within the hour :up:
The UT/LT P35, X38 and X48 boards all share the same GTLREF design at board level regardless of BIOS labeling. The first GTL Reference Voltage option in the BIOS supplies processor lands H2 and F2. The second option supplies lands H1and G10.
Dual core processors:
Core 0 - Second listed GTL option in the BIOS
Core 1 - First listed GTL option in the BIOS
Quad core processors:
Core 0, 2 - Second listed GTL option in the BIOS
Core 1, 3 - First listed GTL option in the BIOS

Yeah. As the info you listed is correct the user should match your data to the line number of the BIOS until a revision is released with the proper wording. It would be impossible for one to tune GLT values using Prime following the description in the BIOS with cores 2 and 3 switched.Quote:

My OCZ 8500 SLI's that done 1200mhz prime stable with 2.27v on the P35 do 1200mhz prime stable with 2.12v on the x48.
I also have some OCZ PC2 6400 & 8000 4GB kits & they run fine too.

k ,ive ran sandra for 4 hrs and it seems stable now after changing strap to what praz suggested 800/333
it was crashing after 40min so its looking good now, might run it abit longer then increase mulitplier to 8 or 9.
im sticking with 450fsb /1081 my volts are really high though -nb 1.456

dram 2.35
im scared to lower volts incase it crashes again. my both core temps are around 45c during 100% load .

I think you are right about that one, 0.7102 looks to be the correct value.

Hey Clunk, any idea why my cpu voltage remains at 1.42v according to everest when the bios cpu voltage is set anywhere from 1.381 to 1.40? I saw your suggestion before about the special added voltage and changed that from auto to the lowest percentage available, and it makes no difference. I know that software voltage readings are not terribly accurate, but I don't think that would explain why it is "frozen" at 1.42v across all those bios settings.
Also, to anyone that has used 2x2gb ram (I'm using 2x2gb gskill 1066) on this or the dfi x38 board, what is the highest stable memory overclock you've achieved and at what voltages? I thought I was stable at 1128mhz, but after about a half hour of OCCT it craps out and I get errors.

That brings me onto the BIOS that was promised to fix the wording for the GTL REF settings in the BIOS. They have double checked everything and the BIOS is correct after all (I think Praz said it was), so the tables have been updated again and as far as I can see, we are all fixed and good to go!

Thanks for the reply Clunk. Even adding on the percentage from the special volts add doesn't explain the readings, unless I am missing something (happens quite often :D !).
Basically, these are the readings:
Bios CPU volts: 1.381 then everest reads 1.42v
Bios CPU volts: 1.3875 then everest reads 1.42v
Bios CPU volts: 1.393 then everest reads 1.42v
Bios CPU volts: 1.40 then everest reads 1.42v
It doesn't matter if the special add volts is set to auto or the lowest percentage...these values stay the same. If I am trying to set the cpu volts to 1.4 for example, I can do a workaround by setting the cpu bios volts to 1.35ish and then upping the special add volts, but I'm curious if you or anyone else is experiencing this "stuck voltage" phenomenon. My main concern is if this is some indicator of a faulty board, or if this will lead to instability when overclocking.

Just for a frame of reference, my gaming rig is a evga 680i mobo with a e6850 cpu. Not the x6800 as you have, but they are both 65nm architecture if I'm not mistaken. To run 4ghz with this cpu stable, I have to set the bios cpu voltage to almost 1.6v (yielding an everest cpu volt reading of about 1.55v). I'm watercooling, and temps are acceptable. But I don't know what most people feel is a "safe" cpu voltage ceiling for your cpu (if there is such a thing). I think that the 65nm cpus require more voltage (and are more robust) than the 45nm cpus. On another motherboard, my e8400 can run 4.05ghz stable at a bios voltage setting of only 1.3875v in comparison.
Perhaps others can chime in if I'm off base here.

The reason i mention the floppy is because the drivers for our raid come on a floppy but you can easily download newer drivers from the website and put them on a USB stick.
