Reaper X 1333EB is top bin micron, 6-5-5-18 1333, I had mine at 1800+ on Deluxe 8-8-8-24 and 2000 8-8-8-24 on 790i
Most under rated kit we sell IMO
..right..Asus kids play again probably....when 0803 came out we use to say that is early...the board new and that they need little time etc..now what?
Anyway this morning i have returned to 1109 and all is fine again..;) ..just to say that i used the EZ Flash for the downgrade with no issues..i mention this because as i remember before some time was not possible to downgrade using the Ez utility..
:surf:This board has been ultra stable for me. So stable I am bored. Itt crunches through my games and converts video files and other tasks without a skip. Still haven't messed with the wifi, probably should to make sure it works. Haven't had a need to really push it so I just let it run at FSB333 and 3ghz with my Q6600. Compared with my old A8R32mvp Deluxe there really isn't much difference in speed in everyday tasks. Of course it smokes my games on my 21" LCD and my HD2900xt runs fine. Temps are great, even when I ran it at FSB420@3.4ghz, but being this is sorta my dream build I am taking baby steps, plus there really isn't much need for insane clocks. I don't need raid at the moment but I want to run a raid 0 config just to see how well it performs, or maybe raid 5.
Future upgrades: Better video card something PCI/e 2.0, almost surely ATI. Storage wise I am going to add as I can afford. If I can throw 100 bucks a month at it I will try for another matching 500gb drive or 2 (or 3!:p:). I will save for a Raptor 150gb for the OS's, or 2 74gb models and dedicate each drive to a particular OS. Getting ready to install Vista Home Premium (sp1 version) 64bit and Ubuntu 8.04 on their own partitions, will update with any issues. The newest Ubuntu kernel can install wothin windows but I always prefer to leave them in their own partitioned space. Its always saved me in the past, especially with Vista on 2 other 170 Opteron builds. Both started BSOD for unknown reason then one magically started working again without me doing anything (WTF!). With so many users (four kids ages 10, 6, 4, 3:eek:) and the various software they purposely or accidently install makes Vista go crazy, it really isn't as forgiving as XP pro so I mainly run it for the kids games and DX10. I played with it for about year and said forget it XP just works so I will stay with it for now.
The newest beta of Firefox blows away IE7. I didn't realize how IE7 was so slow even with decent hardware. Pages load real fast and the interface is intuitive. It has become my primary browser for now. Well thanx for all the great info and if anyone can report what exact issues they are having with bios 1209 I would appreciate. I want to try and duplicate the issue to see if its hardware related.:D
About the cpu temp pro on my p5e3 deluxe, well i decided to sell the p5e3 deluxe and now have a p5e3 premium lol the temp problem is exactly the same so im assuming its my e8400 thats broke stupid intel crap! oh well im only using this cpu till the 1600fsb quads get cheaper so im going to o/c this to 4ghz on my premium.
:welcome:Good luck on that, there is a thread here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=184503 specific to that board sorry the deluxe didn't meet your needs. Was it just the temp issue with your e8400 that wa your issue?
I have to say,so far I'm still with BIOS 0601.LOL!!
I haven't had any need to go over that. Why? Because I has been so freaking stable, as no other board has ever been....
I'm currently running Crucials Ballistix 1600 4GIGS at 8-8-8-24-1T without a sweat. I know it's not that extreme, as new and better DDR3 memories came out.
I've played all my games without a single BSOD. And runned every single video edition application, + 3D Max and Maya...
Not a problem, for the first time I can say my system is flawless and still oveclocked...
But anyway I'm so happy, and calmly waiting for Nehalem.... no other upgrades until then....
I just purchased the QX9770... Has anyone been able to OC this CPU on the P5E3 Deluxe? Looking for stable Bios settings for 4 - 4.2Ghz... Thanks in advance…
How far back is 0601. Personally I am still with 1203 and it has done me right. Can just slight variations in hardware configs cause that much of an issue? Could it be more OS and Driver related than anything to do with the hardware itself? I am getting ready to triple boot with Vista and Ubuntu and will report any problems that I encounter, but I can remember passed problems with builds when I changed videocards or added a NIC or souncard and things went south without any reasonable explanation.
I had an issue on one build with gpus when I went to a DX9 gpu from a DX10 and no amount of registry/driver cleaning would fix it (drivercleanerpro/ccleaner/registry mechanic). For some reason it would not recognize the 8800gt as DX10 compatible, had to do a reformat/reinstall to resolve it. And that Vista install was only a few months old.
I believe v601 was released last November
Oscar - I agree.. Never had any issues with v601 – Too bad I wasn’t able to flash back :(
Newer is not always better...
Any here using the Qx9770 with the Asus P5E3 Deluxe board?
hello everyone
i bought this MB and i only had problems since. after trying all the bios and different settings for the ram and cpu i finally had to downclock my ram to have a sustem a lil stable . so if anyone could help me to set my ram properly i'd really apreciate it.
my conf :
case: lian li v1000 plus II
motherboard: p5e3 deluxe bios 1203
cpu: q9450 core 2 quad 2.66ghz 8x333

psu: seasonic 600w
GC: asus en8800 gt top
HD raptor 150G
OS: windows xp 32b sp3
thanks for any hlep im getting insane here , asus used to be a refference but lately its just a waste:down:
Mate i had nothing but probs with 1203 bios i would try 1109 and take it from there
thx for the quick answers guys
@Brave758: i tried 1109 but my bios just wont start when i change anything. i change the bios, the pc reboot and nothing, just a black screen. i have to turn off the comp and restart and then i always have the " overcloaking failed " on startup
@malkiewicz: i left everything on auto , i just changed the ram @ 1111 (it crashed last night @ 1066)
im a real noob with all this so i dont mess to much with the bios , i've been reading forums for a month but its not clear for me so i finnally posted here:)
I know with mine i have to power off every time i change a bios setting. Have you loaded defaults, Updated bios, power off- reset- remove batt, back into bios load default, power off, entered req'd settings, power off (maybe a batt out reset but i know mine is happy if i only do that after a reflash). I took me a while to find a bios i was happy with, as newer isn't always better i don't know if maybe there mem or even mobo specific. When i first got the board i was pulling my hair out but i turn out to be a bad stick of ram
Razack – I’m not sure if you’re using liquid or air to cool your system, but I believe it’s possible to OC this chip to 3.2ghz on Air…. If the temps are low enough the settings below should help… If the temps are too high keep the FSB Frequency the same and reduce your CPU Ratio…
This should help, but its going to require some tweaking on your part....
Use CoreTemp to monitor your system:
Ai Overclock Tuner – Manual
CPU Ratio Settings – 8
FSB Strap to North Bridge – 333
FSB Frequency – 400
PCIE Frequency – 100
DRAM Frequency – 1600
DRAM Command Rate - 2N
DRAM CLK Skew on CH-A – Auto
DRAM CLK Skew on CH-B – Auto
-------------------------------------
DRAM Timing Control – Manual
CAS# Latency – 7
RAS# to CAS# Delay – 7
RAS# PRE Time – 7
RAS# ACT Time – 18
DRAM Static Read Control – Disabled
DRAM Dynamic Write Control – Disabled
Ai Clock Twister – Auto (Adjust later)
Ai Transaction Booster – Auto (Adjust later)
Relax / Boost Levels – N/A (Adjust later)
---------------------------------------
CPU Voltage – (1.20-1.24) it’s possible you’ll need more volts…
CPU PLL Voltage – Auto (Adjust later)
FSB Termination Voltage – Auto
DRAM Voltage – (Use Manufactures Specs / should be around 1.9v)
NB Voltage – (1.45-1.57)
SB Voltage – Auto

thanks again
im sorry, i forggot about the cpu cooling system , i have a zaltman CNPS9700
i came home late so ill try your settings tomorrow and i'll let you know .
i have a question though, when you say tweak , in what order do you do that and if the pc start, is occt or another program can tell you if the settings are stable or do i have to wait and see if the PC crashes?
told you im a noob but since im toutching the hardware i'd rather ask a stupid question instead of breaking something:D
BIOS 1109 does not show voltages as FSB Termination, DRAM Voltage, CPU PLL ... etc.
the Everest also does not show these voltages. Sample only Vcore and some temperatures!
I questioned the Asus on this, but i did not get reply!
I am deceived, or alone my Mobo that does not show these data?
It has some form to visualize these voltages?
Sorry for my bad english!
Thanks!!!
There’s nothing wrong with your board… The MB Defaults to Auto every time you update your Bios or until you manually enter your voltages - unfortunately default settings are not displayed. For example – When your DRAMs set to Auto it usually sets it to 1.5v (This can cause problems which includes the dreaded BSOD). Usually the Auto settings are okay, but if you want a stable system, and if you’re going to OC you need to increase your volts. I’ve heard that this board can over volt some CPU’s when it set to Auto.
Basically IMO Auto = Bad!!!!!
.
I went from 3 years with amd to Intel with this board and a q6600. Now I don't claim to be an expert but I scratch built this new rig with everything working on the first time. But I did seriously bone up on this board and chipset so I knew exactly what to expect and all worked out well.
Anyone having problems running mem in dual channel? I have single sided kit and 2 sided kit and neither will post in dual channel regardless of the orange or black slots. I have to run in single channel and bandwidth is crap.
using the latest bios.
I have a P5E3 Deluxe that im testing out & wondered whats the max FSB that these board tops out at in general?
I got this
http://www.livinglarge.pwp.blueyonde...0-565FSBPI.PNG
But wondered if I can go higher! I can do PI 1Mb & 3/4 of 8Mb then I get a rounding error in PI
I will give v1109 bios a try 2nite
what is the best bios?
v1109
bios 1203 not so bad for me

Hi Guys I have 2 of these x38 P5e3 dlx/wifiAP boards.
I listed one on ebay for $150 and the guy who won decided not to pay me. anyway before I relist has anyone successfully flashed this board to p5e3 premium or ws evolution? I just thought i'd ask before I blow money on one.
Thanks
btw @ LivingL@rGe81, thats totally insane for this board! :toast2:
here's what happened to my rig just after I hit 550mhz fsb with this board. http://mail.google.com/mail/?attid=0...b124f7aaab6bbc
There are to many physical differences between the Premium and Deluxe for a successful flash. The premium has 3 phase DDR3 pwr and dual phase on the NB. Also the Premium has one less pciex1 slot than the Deluxe. $150 is a good price especially if you are including everything the retail package has.
edit: the pic doesn't show what did happen to your board above 550?
Hi,
I've just completed my first build last night and I'm having issues. no probs...all sorted for now
thanks:D
Hey, I was wondering if I could get some help/suggestions with this board and my Q9450 Revision C1. Specs in sig.
stable settings for 8x400
CPU vcore 1.3
PLL 1.64
FSB 1.28
NB 1.55
SB auto
CPU/GTL Auto
NB/GTL Auto
When I tried 8x425 with those same settings BSOD.
Bios 1303 now available but after flashing within the biosI got error beeps and no post. Looks like a memory issue and I am going to try a 1gb stick with a 1.5 voltage setting to see if it posts. I get 1 long 3 short a long pause and 1 long.
http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?...Language=en-us This is a good resource for our board as the driver section of our support thread is no longer being regularly updated. The newest expressgate adds a lot more functionality.
Ya a bit sad really its a good board with plenty of potential. But tech is moving so fast at the mo stuff gets dropped so quickly
Brave758, I see you've got 4870s. I'm about to build a rig for a mate with my old(ha ha) P5E3 Deluxe and a 4870X2. Do I need a specific bios to run with this card do you know?
Cheers
RLM
RLM, using bios 1109 with no probs. I haven't heard of any need to use a specific bios to run them
Thanks for that Brave758. Appreciated
Bios 1401 (beta) is out http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us and since I had vga issues for some unknown reason with 1303 I went to 1401, flashed with eztool and usb stick as usual without issue. I know the P45 boards are all the rage but just remember our board has a little more than the P45. Xfire with full lanes x16x16 is nice even if its not that big a performance jump, still getting bios updates so someone is still giving support. Say what you want about asus they do stick with their hardware longer than others. Tech wise I think this board will hold up well till nehalem.
1401 Beta seems fine.

thanx for sharing, the q6600 still holds well against the newer 45nm quad chips, and paired with a good mobo/chipset like x38/x48 or P45 even more performance can be had. My friend has a q9450 clocked to 3.4ghz in a 790i board and while faster than my q6600 in benching/games even he admits he hasn't seen a really big jump over his older 680i and q6600 rig. Of course the extreme 45nm quads pretty much blow away the older versions but there are still a few oems using qx6850 in their builds.
So the 1401 is a good bios been quite reluctant to flash past 1109 so far. Also is it worth upgrading from a q6600 (@3.6 1.32vcore) to a q9650
Any one using this board with a 45nm quad willing to help me out, just got it back from RMA and would like to see what it can do since it is a new board.
Anyone got any tips on how to recover from a bad bios flash tried the "crash free" route but it doesn't even seem to get that far just sat there with a blank screen.
Ok guys as no one has any ides ive decied to start looking for a new mobo. (note use the method described to flash the bios to a earlier revision in this forum with extreme care.... lol ya as i found, there is a much safer method which i found out later that doesn't run the same high risk of frying your bios).
Anyway back to the new mobo.
1 wifi would be nice but could be limiting
2 needs to be x38 or 48 chipset (i want crossfire at x16 times)
3 is now the right time to wait for x58 and go for the big upgrade ?????
I have 3 mobo's in mind i'll see if your advice is the same but i'm very tempted to just ride the strom and wait for core i7
Thanks
Is anyone in here using OCZ 1600mhz ram, 8GB, of this variety by chance?
ocz3g16004gk
I cant seem to find anyone using this exact chip (searches on this thread turned up nothing).. particularly 8GB... I've had some issues even getting it stable at 1333 on this board, though i think i've found settings that work. I never could get it to work at 1600mhz though (or at least, get past a boot of either boot Live CDs or vista booting off the harddrive)..
Thanks
Hi guys ..long time to hear something on this thread..whats up..?;)
Any other new info about the mobo and the updates will be welcome..
1405 bios is out..any news ..?
I almost bought this board but got the P5K3 DLX/WIFI cuz I heard it clocks better is that true?? should I still pick this board up?
BIOS 1409

I checked and everything seems to work okay but I disabled my express gate a long time ago... I've had problems with it since the beginning... This version works better with my CPU/MEM combo...
Thanks malk, i've been also to 1409 ..no issues..
Now a simple question...
Has somebody tried this mobo with the new DDR3 low voltage Ram..? ..right now i have 6gb total and would like to go for 8 gb but with the low voltage modules ..
I have found this but will not be available until end of April..
http://www.crucial.com/eu/store/part...=BL25664BN1808
Any input would be helpful ..
I am running q9650 at 4 GHz and v core of 1.42v in BIOS and CPU-z shows 1.4v on idle. prime 95 stable. I'm a bit worried about running the v core at 1.42v. Do you think it's safe? I tried to use load line calibration but it won't boot into Windows over 3.6 GHz. If anyone is running the same processor i would unappreciated if they could post their BIOS settings so I can see what I'm doing wrong. On other forums people are getting 4 GHz at lower voltages. please help:help:
Voltages will differ... Maybe your one of the unlucky ones… Bad batch…. Also different mother boards require slightly more or less voltage… Only use other members settings as a guide…
Hi Markm
Yep I am running that here.
But on the P5E3 standard (not the deluxe board), I am using BIOS 1502 BETA
ASUS themselves provided me with settings they used on the exact same RAM.
CL6, 8 8 24 @ DDR3 1333Mhz @ 1.88V for the DRAM and 1.37V for the NB
Please see ASUS' screenshots.
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/8...cl6188v.th.jpg
and
http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/6...8vmt211.th.jpg
These settings were provided to me from ASUS and they work perfectly with 8GB of RAM. I can pass Intel Burn Test 14tests MAXIMUM STRESS as well as OCCT 3.0.1.0 2hr auto.
I have not tried raising my FSB over the standard 333Mhz, but I can raise my multiplier and the system is still stable. FYI you will not be able to get 1600Mhz out of 8GB, I believe this a chipset limitation as 8GB does put a lot of stress on the X38, I have heard the situation is pretty much the same with the X48, (although some folks do seem to have luck on their BlackOps and Rampage Extreme boards) albeit with high voltages and lots of cooling

Hey. Can anyone recommend me a RAM upgrade for this board? I want to get 8GB. Stability with Prime95 is my main concern - but fast is good too :)
Current processor is E6750 but plan to get a Q9650.
Muskin or Crucial works well with the P5E3 and if you're having problems with your settings - Muskin has great customer support / forums... Hope this helps...
Hi!
Need help.
With Q8200 (Rev. M1), how best settings to my wataerooled system:
- Corsair HX620W
- Asus P5E3 Deluxe WiFi AP@N
- Quad Q8200 Rev. M1
- 4GB Corsair DDR3 1600Mhz Corsair DHX XMS3
- XFX GTS250 1GB Core Edition
- 1x Seagate 1TB 32MB
All in GMC Corona R3 Watercooled. See worklog here: http://www.casemodbr.com/forum/gmc-r...ed-t48685.html
Thanks in advance!
this board is a PITA! 2X2GB I get random bsods suring overclocking unless I run it at 400X9 for 1600MHZ but if I try a different divider and run it even under 1600mhz with higer fsb bsod! also the voltage sattings are incorrect. 1.38XX in bios get me 1.35 in cpu-z that .03 vdrop and it gets closer to .04 with higer voltage settings. even with LLC enabled. and whats the purpose of over charging voltage?? to annoy me?!?!? ughhhh. its an ok board but serious problems and now with X58 asus more than likely will not fix them
I just pulled this board out of my closet and powered it up with a new Qx9650..... Any good / recommended Bio's Updates? Seems to work great with the new low voltage RAM....
Not really sure, i have one of these in use with a Q6600, and one about to be put into use with a QX9770 water cooled, here's my CPUz screenshots of the one currently in use, specs below the shots, I also have Expressgate running fine, dual monitor setup and with AHCI enabled on both onboard chipsets.

I do know to get the latest ExpressGate you have to grab 2 files, one to get the DFI file, and the other to get the latest updater (which is packed with an older DFI file) the whole ftp site is a mess (and their are 2) with no one using the same naming convention, so it is a complete nightmare working out whats what, and which you need .... and no, the ftp is no faster than it used to be, it's painful, like dialup speeds !
This link is also pretty handy for the latest files and info
http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?...Language=en-us
The other thing i only found out a couple of days ago, is that the manual supplied actually had the RAM slot allocation table miss printed ! and for 2 sticks of ram it was saying to use the wrong two slots ! ... get the latest downloadable manual to get the correct info !
I'd be interested if anyone has tried this RAM with it, as i'm tempted to try some with the QX9770
