no matter what i do underclock the speed or mem or power . i even modified the power limit in the kgb.cfg file and set it back to the default 114% , i still get my power goes up to 293% and then crash whatever im on game or benchmark .
im not sure what am i missing , i've done what crazynutz said exactly , unlocking the bios worked with kgb and flashing the bios was a success .
anyone with MSI GTX660Ti PE unlocked bios that worked for them id love to try it out .
PowerK posted a titan bios here

Is it better to upgrade to UEFI BIOS?
UPDATED INSTRUCTIONS!!
Flashing bios instructions for any Nvidia Keplar GPU.
YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK
I wrote this guide as i couldnt find one anywhere.
First of all, You then need to download these files.
GPU-Z (This is used to grab the original Bios from the Gpu wether multi or single)
http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2181/mirrors.php
KGB - Kepler BIOS Editor/Unlocker. (This is used to modify the Bios that you just grabbed from your Gpu using Gpu-z)
KGB supports: GTX690, GTX680, GTX670, GTX660Ti, GTX660OEM and GTX660
New version 0.6.1 (Adjustable Boost control)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/d6dimgnx8cxvlca/kgb_0.6.1.zip
Old version 0.5
https://www.dropbox.com/s/vrunxuq03vj0m5y/kgb_0.5.zip
NVFLASH (This is used to reflash or reinstall the new modified bios)
Make sure this is version 5.127, An older version will not work.
http://www.softpedia.com/progDownloa...oad-16133.html
Steps 1-10.
1.Ok what you need is firstly to make a USB dongle bootable into DOS, To do this read this very easy to follow guide.
http://www.bay-wolf.com/usbmemstick.htm
2.Run GPU-Z and and click on the icon that allows you to grab your bios from the Gpu and save it to your PC.
Each Gpu has 1 bios that belongs to it.
Then also at the bottom of the picture were it is circled in red and labelled 2, If you have more than 1 gpu then you will need to change this to gpu 2,3 or 4.
Then grab bios no 2 from your Gpu and save it to your PC the same way that you did with bios 1
The picture below shows how.....
http://imageshack.us/a/img43/5281/gpubios1.png
Also make sure you have a copy of your bios, Put the original(s) in a safe place!!
3.Once you have grabbed your bios put it into C:\Users\ (yourname) and rename it 1.rom
For example the bios from the GTX 690 Gpu 1 is called GK104.rom, I renamed it to 1.rom and the bios from Gpu 2 also named GK104.rom I renamed 2.rom.
The reason why you should put the bios in C:\Users\ (yourname) is because the default path will be set here from KGB.exe so if you are not familiar with the CMD (Commandline) then this is the easiest way of doing it.
5.Take the KGB.exe as well as the KGB.cfg file and also place both of these in C:\Users\ (yourname).
You should now have KGB.exe, KGB.cfg and 1.rom files in C:\Users\ (yourname).
If you have more than 1xGpu then you will have 1.rom and 2.rom respectively in C:\Users\ (yourname).
6.The next thing to do is open up the CMD (Commandline) which im sure you all know how to do.
Once you have the CMD open, Copy and paste in this command.
kgb 1.rom unlock (press enter).
It will now save the new values (i.e. from kgb.cfg) in your bios then print out the new values in the bios.
Do the same again for 2.rom if you have a 2nd card/Dual gpu and have extracted the bios file from the Gpu(s).
Copy and paste in this command into the CMD (Commandline)
kgb 2.rom unlock (press enter).
It will now save the new values (i.e. from kgb.cfg) in your bios then print out the new values in the bios.
7.Now all we need to do is put the new modified 1.rom and possibly 2.rom back onto the gpu, To do this we need to use the USB DOS bootable Dongle that we created in step 1.
Take the nvflash files once you have extracted them and place them onto the USB DOS bootable Dongle, There should be 2 files.
Then place the 1.rom bios also on the USB DOS bootable Dongle.
8.Now the Dongle is ready to be booted from so reboot the PC and go into the bios.
Once you are in the bios make it so the PC boots from the dongle, Once this happens you will then have a flashing cursor telling you that you are in DOS mode.
9.Type in nvflash --list (press enter)
This will then tell you what gpu(s) that you have installed on your motherboard.
10.Type in nvflash -i1 1.rom (press enter)
It will then say flashing Gpu and press Y to confirm, so press Y and the flashing will commence which takes a few seconds.
If you have a second gpu with 2.rom.
Type in nvflash -i2 2.rom (press enter)
It will then say flashing Gpu and press Y to confirm, so press Y and the flashing will commence which takes a few seconds.
Once this is done reboot the PC go into the bios and reset your boot so it boots from your hardrive with the Windows OS on.
Once you get into windows you can see from MSI afterburner or EVGA precision that the power target can be raised from 130 to 150.
When gaming the boost clock should be higher depending on your GPU.
I achieved around an increase of 30 on the core clock on boost alone on both GPU's which is very good.
It will differ for each person and each GPU(s), You can also try other peoples bios as long as iyts the same GPU as your own.
You can also modify the KGB.exe and tweak power settings for even more results but I wouldnt advise this unless you know what you are doing, I would just leave it at stock and use that for the time being.
The original Creator of KGB.exe can be found here.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...Unlocker/page4
Common problem that may arrise.
Sometimes when you flash your card(s) you may get this problem were you card is write protected and it wont allow you to flash it.
Picture here of problem...
http://imageshack.us/a/img823/5205/5...76a4e00cap.png
The Solution
Type in the CMD....Nvflash --protectoff....then try again with the flash. to enable it again do....Nvflash --protecton.
This should enable you to write/flash the bios to the card with no problems.

Great guide, I'm sure it will help many people & prevent a lot of head scratching not to mention bricked cards & brown trouser moments
BUMP to my question please :(
I dont know i dont use a UEFI bios if your reffering to the motherboard.
You boot into dos from usb stick so shouldnt matter what motherboard you are using.
had to modify the kgb.cfg and changed the max boost to 1254.5 cus its never stable at 1305.5 , now my Msi GTX 660ti PE stable with 1255/1800 with 1.212v .
but my problem still the power limit never goes above 100 and most of the time below 100 . between 65-85 also my max temp is 65.
i had my power limit on msi afterburner at 150% . i also tried 140%, 130% and 120% still no changes .
am i doing something wrong ?
Here is a special test version of KGB for titan. Only fan, and power supported for now:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/dk54rmgce0...gb_titan.zip?m
EDIT: Link fixed
I'm getting a bad link. The one from your other post works.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/dk54rmgce0...gb_titan.zip?m
What are the current supported options for kgb?
I have a MSI GTX 650 TI. Its power consumption is very modest, especially in idle.
Will this bios mod allow it to run with fans turned off when idle?
I'm sorry, I'm used to using SPOILER tags in quoting long posts but I cannot find it here. I'm not spamming, how could that be spamming for God's sake? You could've just told me to try to avoid quoting long posts and be done with it instead of looking it as spam/troll. Your post doesn't help anything with this thread anyway.
Could you add support for GT640 ?
Please add support for the 650ti 2gb.

Ok guy's i'll work on adding support for 650ti 650, and 640 soon. I may have some free time coming up, perhaps next week.
You the boss.
Has anyone actually tried this with their Titan? I used KGB+KeplerBiosEditor on my 680 just fine previous (thanks!). I just don't want to be the guinea pig with a Titan!!! :D Rumor is changing max power % has no effect on Titan so far, but I want to try it myself ...
Please make the fan range go from 10% to 100%, mine is at 30% and i want less. - 650ti user
Just edit de kgb.cfg, you can modifie the fan min/max.
My card throttles at 55 degree Celsius, can i change that?

I have some time, can i help you out?
I tried this on mine and it says my card isn't supported yet_ :(
So I would like to request added support for this GPU, if you can I would donate to your efforts, buy you a few beers =]

Thank you very much_
Thanks for all the help. I did need to download this .zip however.
http://www.dbit.com/pub/cwsdpmi/csdpmi4b.zip
There are 3 files located in the bin folder that end in .exe. I needed all 3 on the USB thumb drive in order to get past the DPMI error.
Crazynutz, is your program as good or better than the Kepler Editor Bios v1.24?
Ok, we better let the man do his magic. http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/7068/hahanx.png
Has GTX Titan got any hardware voltage limiter? Can we give above 1,2v with any bios mod?
Lets see if I got this correctly, the stock voltage on the GTX680 reference design is at 1.15 and it boosts at 1.175 ( 2 steps up from the voltage table ) if I set the base voltage at 1162500 so it should give me a boost of only 1.18, correct?
I plan to use the Windows version of NVflash, is there a specific command on how to flash the second card with out swapping the cards around?
Is KGB already dead? It's been how many months since there was a major update to this? :(
My bottom card is alwasy 13Mhz higher, id like it to be at an equal level on my top card.. would changing the max boost on the cfg file resolve this ?
@CrazyNutz
What do you mean by "driver detection problem" in the note on kgb.cfg here:
# EXPERIMENTAL: This Setting makes the checksum calculate to
# the same value it originally was by manipulating an unused
# section of the bois. This may be needed for the new style
# UEFI vbios. Set this to 1 if you want to preserve the orig
# checksum. Set to 0 for the previous behavior of re-calculating
# the checksum. NOTE: if you're not having driver detection
# problems leave this at 0.
So UEFI vBIOSes, when used with Preserve_Original_Checksum = 0 will sometimes make Windows error out in detecting the drivers or something like that? According to error-id10t, the only problem of the old KGB program is that it can't compute properly the checksum of some UEFI BIOSes and so you should sometimes use Preserve_Original_Checksum = 1 to solve this. But what do you mean by "driver detection problems"?
I hope you reply on your own thread here.
@crazynuts
a quick question
i succesfully modded my cards now i got other one so i will be on tri sli on air and cards get sticked togheter so when i have max load of 1.244 at 1320...if i run -26 wich will be 1293 will be same load ? or cards take the volts they need ? or its always 1,244 ?
thanks !
Sergio
I was a able to finally get it working! So far I have reached 1254 my highest ATM on dual cards. I decided to bench my cards using the Unigine Engine Valley Benchmark.
Can someone explain why my lower clocks got higher scores than my higher clock speeds? I typed the clock speeds next to each score.
I know this is hard to believe, but my friend watched me OC and benchmark them as well, and he is just as confused as I am.
http://i.imgur.com/r50to6C.jpg?1
There is a checksum of some value in each bios. If any changes are made in the bios this checksum must be recalculated.
For examples sake lets say its originally dec "78", if you make a change and recalculate the checksum, it will now be let say "107"
In some bioses (probably just uefi) if the original checksum "78" has been recalculated to something else, the nvidia driver may detect this and fail to load "no supported hardware detected" < some message like this.
This may be an attempt by nvidia to stop bios mods, my best guess anyhow.
So when you Preserve_Original_Checksum = 1, after a mod kgb forces the checksum to recalculate to the original value "78".
It does this by changing values in the padding (unused) sections of the bios so the checksum will = 78.
guys please i need your help
im getting the PCI Subsystem mistmatch and card flashes either way but i dont see increase in volts, today i flashed original rom then i started to tweak everything was fine till i got that error now volts dont increase :(
why GTX680 (2) have totally dif numbers than the GTX680 (0) to the most right numbers
http://i.imgur.com/nqB2cFN.png
http://i.imgur.com/H792gh9.jpg
i NEVER ever get that mismatch before now i get it all the time like the PLX right part was copied to the GTX680(0)
well altough the problem above the cards flash ok
@crazynuts
i have a question for you
my Galaxys GTX680 SOC show this on its stock bios
http://i.imgur.com/DKiHhn8.jpg
this is my modded one using KGB
http://i.imgur.com/e4VQVf7.jpg
but...1,15 on my cards is 1,2 in the cards measure points...with multimeter...
so i NEVER tried nothing under 1,21 on your config file
so i decided to do it and NO VALUE under 1,21 takes effect only 1,21
this maybe how the card is made ? a limitation or maybe you can inspect my bios ?
Cheers !
Sergio
Hello,
I have re-flashed my card BIOS and I started getting "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered." errors in every game.
My card is a Gigabyte GTX660Ti (link) and I have downoaded its BIOS wit GPU-Z, used KGB to unlock it and set minimum fan speed to 10% (it's all I care about) and used nvflash to upload the new BIOS. The minimum fan speed is indeed at 10% now, but I can no longer play any game properly.
- GTA4 blanks out and recovers but the FPS is reduced to 15-17, I have to exit the game and go back in.
- Warframe pops out of the game and sends me to a generic webpage about Hardware failure detected.
- World of Tanks shows a white screen, I have to close it and re-run the .exe when that happens, it does not recover by itself.
My Display Driver version is 314.22.
Any ideas? What should I do to make this go away?
Did you try reflashing back to the original BIOS and see if it fixes the prob?
Apparently it does. I have played Warframe more than 1h without a glitch after reflashing to original BIOS. Previously, I couldn't play for more than 15 minutes.
I assume this doesn't support an nvidia vgx grid k2, not a biggy though.
I uploaded my bios'es, they are stock, not modded.
From the batches before the power limits, the 680 lightning.
http://hidemyass.com/files/KQbfg/
Pain in the butt to find a working file upload site these days :\.
Anyways I hard modded my card into a grid k2, well half of one, I need a 2nd 680 lightning to complete it.
Decisions decisions...
:)
@CrazyNuts: Could you take a look at the output from this post and see what's the reason for it failing? Is the DCII ROM not supported yet?
Hey, can somesone give me his eVGA GTX 660 Ti SuperClocked 2Gb bios please ?
I have an eVGA GTX 660 Ti standart and such an upgrade would be nice, if it is stable I could consider unlock it then.
And unfortunately I can't download CrazyNutz GTX 660 Ti SC bios :( links are broken... and there' no GTX 660 Ti SC 2gb bios in techpowerup database.
Hello.
I receive my evga gtx660 sc and tried to unlock via this great kgb tool.
I get a message for bad checksum, different value its time.

Hey CrazyNutz,
First off, good work so far on this utility. I manager to unlock the BIOS quickly and got it flashed. My card is already boosting past what was stable previously.
The issue I am running into might not be fixable from a BIOS standpoint, it might just be built in to Kepler through some other means. When I first launch a game or benchmark I can see the card boosting to 1202MHz with a vcore of the 1.212. But, once the card hits 70C it starts to throttle it down. If I let Heaven benchmark loop for a while it balances out with the core clock at 1123.5MHz, temp at 75C, 54% fan speed, and 1.2000 V.
Is 75C considered that hot for a kepler GPU? Do you think there is some way to make the card not throttle at these temperatures? I remember reading something about how the Boost on the Titan's worked differently to allow higher temps. I am pretty tired right now so I don't have as much time to play with it as I had hoped. I am planning on testing with the fan speeds, I believe you can make custom fan curves in Afterburner so I will play around with how loud that gets and seeing if it helps the temps at all.
hi so i just modded my bios and i started seeing way lower scores than i had before why is this? and how can i go back to my old bios i did create a back
up for that plz help asap
you can download my original PNY GTX 650 Ti bios here : http://www.skybed.be/temp/xtremesyst...inal.GK106.rar
I would also like to see 650 TI support here, I have a 650 ti 2gb (non-boost) , got it water cooled (it was a cheap replacement for my 8800gt) . Thanks!
When I run kgb, it finds the card, but at the bottom says "hmm, could not find power offsets"
I have latest 680 Lightning unlocked bios, I tried this tool, but it lowers voltage table and power limit. I suggest to leave it untouched if values are higher.
I'd even like to use a newer bios, but they are all locked; it would be nice if I could choose limits to use...
I have two cards in SLI. It is very difficult to separate them .
Do I have to unlock them one by one?
Help me pls to remove all unnecessary (for me!) states (frequencies and voltages) from Titan's BIOS. I want only two of them - 2D and 3D. First will be about 500 MHz and 1V or about and the other one 1150 MHz at 1,212V. Not sure about memory.
Is that possible? Now I have this BIOS:
http://imageshack.us/a/img20/4016/mybios.th.png
So it's like I don't have any boost and I like it, but I don't need the other states between min and max, it gotta be only one (I can handle a little higher consumption and heat at idle).
I just have a problems at switching between idle and load, so hope to solve it that way :(
NVM, got it with NVinspector - P8 and P0 states :)
Is it possible to get more than 1.21 v?
I have water cooled PC and after bench the temperatures are max 40C-50 C .
I need more voltage. Nvidia Asus 680 DirectCU (non TOP version)
Hi,
i have edited the cfg file to set the fan to 20% minimum, but the rpm of my msi gtx 660 twin frozr III are still at 1000, as if i didnt make any change to the default settings (30%).
Ps: sorry for my bad english!
Beside, 1.212V should get you somewhere between 1267mhz and 1308Mhz stable overclock if you have adequate cooling. Beyond that, you definitively get diminishing returns. By hammering your silicon that hard, you will shorten the life of your card and/or it will at some point rapidly fail to clock as high as it used to. I seriously doubt you are after benchmark world record with only a GTX 660 and benchmark record would be the only reason to go beyond 1.212V in my opinion.
How much further beyond 1300Mhz would you be able to go anyway? 1350? 1400? Stable? For what? 2-3 more FPS? If it would be possible to volt it at 1.5V and reach 1800Mhz stable without melting the GPU, that would be another story. I'm pretty confident 1300Mhz is already the practical limit of this silicon for every day use and long term preservation.
BTW, anyone knows what is the absolute clock record, stable or not, for a GTX 660? Anyone reached 1400Mhz for example?
I don't have problem with temperatures.
Max temp 50-55 C for my first 680 and 45-50C for my second 680 (1.21v : 1300/7000)
This is my rig
My stable overclock is 1300/7000 .
For more overclock i need more voltage.1.3 v : 1350/7600
But Ok. 1.21 is the limit.

Hope you are well. I am trying to undervolt my Geforce 640 card here, both Performance states, but to no avail. I seem to have edited the rom with Kepler BIOS Tweaker, but after flashing the rom, nothing has changed. You can see my modded rom here and the original rom there. Every diagnostic utility shows original values and the power draw remains unaffected. Is it not possible to undervolt Kepler at all? Or is hardware modification the only option?
You seem to be fairly knowledge on the subject and I would be grateful for any input. Many thanks.
Kind Regards,
TRM.
Hi guys,
Is possible modify the bios to gigabyte gtx 780 windforce OC for more voltage and limit power with KGB??, how??
i use Techinferno Bios modded but they are no boost and.....
Thanks
The KGB Software not support GTX 780 and limited for Titan cards. Sorry for you.

Get youre bios from http://www.techinferno.com/ :)
Best there is
What do you mean? Clock values are different for each card so there can't be a single download for a specific GPU, right?
I just got my 2nd gpu today, to complete my grid setup.
I just installed it, came with the ek water block too, for $400 it was a good deal.
Though I had to take the block off and install the stock cooler for the time being, I don't have a pump or rad for it or anything yet.
When the time comes for that I'll have to buy a 2nd block, I might just do that in a few days.
Oddly enough the thing starts up pretty silent like, even though the bios ver is the same ver.
I haven't dumped and compared it yet though.
My original one goes full throttle on bootup, it's very very load.
I'm working on my own bios modding program.
Just for kicks.
I'm using ahk script to doit, right now it just reads off some strings and hex values.
I haven't really taken it very far yet.
I think that'll be one of my hobbies for a while, when I get bored I can sit down for a bit and work on that from time to time.
Cant wait to hard mod this card and sli it ^^, just gotta wait though for my board before I can think about that.
Its nice the 680 and 770 lightnings have dual bios though, a switch for them.
This will make bios modding alot easier in certain ways (no more bricking and shorting pins to get to dos).
The bios sure has alot of free space too, maybe even enough to run an small os from.
i try it and , i got crash 1300 +300 mem(3300mhz), 1.212v, no luck for me, gtx 680 gigabytes reference
my oc without kgb, 1202, +300 ,120 target, i saw better fps with more power target
is it safe 1.212v ?
150 target safe ? looks pretty high, don t wanna fried my card
I have update to uefi bios update on 680, is it COMPATIBLE ?
lol i can oc 1202 ,3500 mem,132 target with uefi bios
It looks very interesting. will you add suport for the gtx780Ti in the future?
I have already tried it and it said "unsupported".
GTX 780 Ti reff BIOS

any idea ?
No news about this tool?
Dejavu, 3 times times this morning so far...
Anyways does anyone know where I can find info on the uefi gop rom specs, like the headers and structure?
I was making a program to read out the bios'es with ahk script but it became a pain in the butt.
When I count up a checksum it continues to grow past one byte of data and I couldn't figure out how to strip the extra bytes off.
So since yesterday I've been messing around with my current bios, my 2nd 680 lightning's stock bios (has lower fan startup speed compared to my original card's bios).
I threw the code into an asm file and have been parsing it by hand to use as a ref later on.
If I can finish off what I started on I can make a program but I gotta figure out some win32 api code in asm.
Since I can't use the dos vm anymore, everyone is on win7 now, and so am I.
Currently I'm trying to work out were the timings are and how to mess with the ver strings and colors, scaling and so on, the basics that used to be in nibitor.
Nibitor never got the board id correct though but I figured it out, I haven't had to since the 6600gt lol.
What I really wanna figure out is the ram sizing, how to change a 4gig ver to a 2gig ver.
If someone wants to see my wip then just tell me and I'll upload it.

That's what I've managed with one of my 680's today.
Display scaling doesn't work though, that's a bummer.
I have not looked for clocks, fan speeds or voltages yet.
And I haven't even flashed the 770 lightning bios yet.
I don't mean to get anyone's hopes up or anything.
I'm just playing catch up right now...
I think I may have to goto the fasm forum and get this opcode thing fixed though...
I should try updating fasm 1st...
If anyone cares to share any nv vga rom findings they know about please feel free I wouldn't mind exchanging knowledge.
Does anyone know if the later cards have vesa support?
It looks like it was dropped a few generations ago.
But I haven't actually tried it yet myself.
Author hasn't been updating the software or coming around to reply to thread. You can try the other Kepler bios modding tool here.

I Just finally was able to unlock my asus gtx 660 to 1.21 v
taken forever to get above 1.175
I did it with kbt 1.27
the only problem i have is it down clocks a bit.
Asus gtx 660 doesn't have a heat sink on the vrms .Gpu stays well under 55c
vrms to hot causing down clocking ?
