Asus Maximus Formula - BIOS help please ....
Hi guys , before I read through 189 pages here I would like to present you with my problem and maybe someone can help .
Now that I have my new rig running I have started benching in ernest . I can hit 3200 MHz easily as you would expect but even 10 MHz over that and its very unstable so for now I am going to play with vid card clocks , but I really need to get on top of this . Shortly I will post all of the bios settings and see if anyone can shed some light on this for me . Another issue that has surfaced is that if I go into bios , save any settings then try to restart it wont start as per normal , the lights etc flash and it goes dark again. After this the first touch of the power button has a similar effect then next application results in a start up . This is eery and has me concerned. I am also concerned with nb/sb temps but I am yet to apply some proper airflow to that area so I will see how that goes after that mod.
BIOS version 0907
There are alot of settings I have not come across before , so I have alot to learn. I can hit 3200 with everything on auto (nub I know) only bit of extra cpu voltage , but everything I tried would not help stability even at 8x410 . This board is much more complicated than my P5K was , Im sure if I can master it then it will fly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
:up:
Edit: I tried the 8x450 settings in OP and no boot , Im still reading here guys and am trying some different things but it still disturbs me how many times I have to try to start it after entering bios before it starts up .
Should I start a new thread for help or leave this here ?
Edit2: I got it up to 3600 but it needed 1.5v to be stable enough to bench , have not tested long term yet . I assume that some of the advanced bios settings can improve stability while reducing raw cpu voltage , would this be right ? Its an L737B with 1.2125v VID so I had hoped for more.

NeroVision5, overclocked?
Is anybody using NeroVison 5 of the Nero * Ultra Suite v8.3.2.1? I ask here only cause I was curious of the tweaking of RAM sub timings as I keep asking for advice on, if it can improve for real time video rendoring. Here's the daily tested stable profile for a Core 2 E6750;

Can anybody with knowledge of RAM and its sub timings look over and see where I can alter to make more stable for the sole purpose of video rendoring in NeroVision 5? On some projects it just cuts out (app only, not system). It happens during a long period of real time shifting through file in either slow mo or scrolling through w/ minute selector. It starts by responding sluggishly, then crashes. The profile is tested in several runs of Prime 95 v25.5 in all 3 modes with good results. Maybe it is just NeroVision, but just wondering if I can do anything for it just for editing. I doesnt happen a lot, but it does and thats the point.
EDIT: CPU/RAM in sig
Tony is right this ram Flex II 1150 DDR2 is great stuff

You may have to set the board up differently to mine, i had issues over 1040 till i spent time with skew and tRD...maybe you just have to do the same.
I can not spoon feed exact settings as every board is different, you may just need to keep tweaking
I was wrong and being new at computer building I didn't consider all the things you have mentioned. You guys have shown me the error in my ways. If you have a Rampage buy this ram your gonna love it. It fast as hell even at DDR2 800 :up:
BETA v1004 And USB Issues!
I remember somebody asking of, or spaking of USB issues on certain BETA BIOS. I am experiencing issues with USB ports off one of the hubs from mobo internal on a duplex cable and it is so far on only one of the 2 (ie the top is fine well the bottom drops in and out through the day). I only started since testing on BETA v1004, and I noticed when using iPod docked while playing MP3's it continuously droped out and back in in auto play throught the day and I moved it to 2nd of the 2 ports on case hub to mobo and it is fine. I will test for another set of onvboard headers to confirm, but it may be a bad connection or wire. It is on my 2nd case, Antec P-160 w of almost 5yrs old.
